In this episode, we talk about Batwoman season 2, episode 3, “Bat Girl Magic!”. This episode had us questioning whether it would be alright to sit down and shoot the sh!t with Victor Zsasz and that had us questioning our decision making. Ryan’s new Batwoman suit is amazing! She made it her own and we are loving it! We meet Safiyah and she is showing us a side of Alice that we didn’t know was there. This season has been on fire! They are ramping up the gay and curing cancer! What else could you ask for from a TV show?!? In this episode, we talk about Batwoman season 2, episode 2, “Prior Criminal History”. This episode has everything: bats in chest cavities, bats in buses, blood bags in coats, casual car stabbings - it was action packed! We are loving Ryan, but not liking how she is being treated, Julia has a really rough episode, and Alice’s plan to get Safiyah’s attention is crazy! We have an idea for a new podcast and we think it has a lot of potential. In this episode, Shelley and Erin discuss Harley Quinn season 1, episode 7 “The Line.” We spend time with the Queen of Fables, whose only redeeming quality is being voiced by Wanda Sykes. Harley realizes that she’s a bad guy, not a bad person, and it’s a very nice lesson learned through very disgusting means. Shelley gets #Batwoman-level traumatized by this episode. In this episode, Shelley and Erin discuss Harley Quinn season 1, episode 6 “You’re a Damn Good Cop, Jim Gordon.” Harley gets carried away on a job and leaves one of Clayface’s arms behind, prompting the arm to start a friendship with Commissioner Gordon, who really does not have a lot going for him. We find out that arms can have butts, Harley happens upon where Batman f***s the bats, and Erin and Shelley prove once again that they are very good at this podcasting thing (spoiler alert: they aren’t). In this episode we talk about Harley Quinn season 1, episode 5 - “Being Harley Quinn”. Shelley and Erin have never been to a strip club, but learn the rules about going to a strip club in this episode. We get to see Sy in action with his old spy buddy, Golda. They’re reliving the old days by disposing of a bunch of bodies in a brick pizza oven at an abandoned mall. Because what else do you do to get rid of a bunch of bodies? Let the record show, an army of little zombie Harleys are creepy as f#ck! And really, how could Frankie Munez not be in this show. In this episode, Shelley and Erin discuss Harley Quinn season 1, episode 4 “Finding Mr. Right.” Harley realizes she needs a nemesis after her villainy goes unnoticed by Gotham, but accidentally finds herself nemeses with a 12-year-old Robin, and kids are gross. We discuss the new characters introduced in this episode, especially Shelley’s favorite problematic landlord, Sy Borgman. We also meet King Shark, who is the funniest 70% shark, 30% human you’ll ever meet. But don’t call him a pet. He doesn’t like that. You can find us on Twitter! In this episode, Shelley and Erin discuss Harley Quinn season 1, episode 3 “So, You Need A Crew?” Harley attempts to put together a crew to aid her in her quest to get into the Legion of Doom, Ivy continues to be a loner (and might possibly mention that she loves Harley, but don’t make a thing of it), and Frank’s relationship with Ivy continues to be the funniest thing we’ve ever seen. Shelley and Erin tackle terms like “creepy dick” and “tiny boxes,” and they discuss the show’s use of sexism to remind us that all these villains are still definitely villains. This episode features another guest appearance from Erin’s fiancée, who graciously said the words “Harley Quinn” and allowed Erin to turn it into a demon voice. Thanks, Mattie. In this episode, Shelley and Erin attempt to discuss Harley Quinn season 1, episode 2 “A High Bar,” but they mostly get sidetracked by discussions about Lovecraft Country, Tinder, Howie Mandel, people practicing wand maneuvers, and so many other things that have no place on this podcast. There’s also a quick guest appearance from Erin’s partner. When they manage to stay on track, they discuss their continued love for Poison Ivy, whether animated Scarecrow is still scary, and a little bit of Batwoman news for good measure. Stick around at the end for a lengthy discussion about alcoholic beverages that threatened to throw the podcast wildly off course (pun intended) before it even started. You can find us on Twitter! In this episode, Shelley and Erin launch their Red Hairing hiatus project: podcasting about the Harley Quinn Animated series available on DC Universe and HBO Max. Shelley has seen the series before (as you’ll know from the 14 times they endorsed Harley Quinn-related material on the pod), but Erin has not. Now, Shelley can achieve their dream of being there while Erin experiences the beauty of this show for the first time. We walk through the plot of the show (bonkers), discuss what we loved (all of it), and pose the question of whether it’s okay to find an animated character hot (it is). In this episode, Shelley, Erin, and special guest, Leslie, discuss all of the Batwoman news we have received over the summer leading up to the casting of Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Batwoman’s new lead. We are thrilled about the casting of Javicia Leslie, but we have some pretty strong concerns about Ryan Wilder’s character description. We discuss where the story might go with Ryan, what her presence means for the show’s supporting characters, and whether we think Kate might eventually come back with a new face. After our discussion on Batwoman, we quickly descend into a rabbit hole (no pun intended) about all of the Arrowverse decisions we didn’t love this season. It’s a good time, y’all. We recorded this episode on May 24, one day before George Floyd was murdered. We have delayed releasing this because we wanted our focus and your focus to be on the Black Lives Matter movement. We want the focus to be on ending police brutality and racial inequality that continues to permeate the US and the world. We recognize that we all need something to unwind to at the end of the day. If this episode is that for you, please know how happy that makes us and enjoy! *** This episode was recorded prior to the announcement that Kate Kane would be written off the show, so please excuse our slightly irrelevant hot takes. We still stand by the idea of recasting Kate Kane. *** In this episode, we discuss Batwoman’s impromptu season finale “O, Mouse!” Mouse does meet his end, but not in the way we thought, Jacob is on another level with his obsession with Batwoman, Sophie and Julia are official, and the only thing that can kill Batwoman is … kryptonite? Mary continues to carry the BatTeam on her shoulders and is, as always, the best of us. In this episode, we use listener feedback to guide our conversation about Batwoman Season 1, episodes 18 “If You Believe in Me, I’ll Believe in you,” and 19 “A Secret Kept from All the Rest.” In a nutshell, this show is so gay and so, so good. We’re still wondering what secrets Julia is keeping, and we think Kate might have some as well. We worry about Mouse’s future of aliveness on this planet. We’re back! Erin and Shelley discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 17 “A Narrow Escape.” Alice and Mouse establish themselves as major players in Arkham with impressive speed, Luke finds out who kills his dad, and Sophie and Julia are definitely going to kiss soon! Most importantly, the love of our lives, Mary Hamilton, tells Kate that she knows she’s Batwoman in a hope speech that would give Kara Danvers a run for her money. You can find us on Twitter! We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 16 “Through the Looking Glass.” This episode hurt all of Shelley’s feelings and Erin’s one feeling. We discuss Kate’s betrayal of Alice, whether Kate is right to be concerned about turning into her sister, and what might become of Alice now that her last glimpse of sanity appears to have been erased. Meanwhile, Julia is back, and she makes out with someone, but not the someone we thought it would be. Luke uncovers a conspiracy regarding the murder of his father, and we have no idea who to trust. We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 15 “Off With Her Head.” We learn through a series of flashbacks that Alice’s dark past only gets darker and more gross. Shelley and Erin try to process an episode that was, for all intents and purposes, a short horror movie. We discuss Batwoman’s moral code, why Alice wanted Kate to meet August, and how many times is too many times to see the scorched face of a very mean grandma. You can find us on Twitter! We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 14 “Grinning from Ear to Ear.” Things happened in this episode, but Erin and Shelley aren’t sure what they were, because they have been crying into their pillows ever since they saw the FULLY SKINNED FACE of Duela. We do our best to recap the episode for you, and we obviously make time to express our continued undying affection for Mary Hamilton, but can everyone please just keep their f$%&ing faces on for five minutes? We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 13 “Drink Me.” This episode went back to the villain of the week format, but not without giving us some major plot points. Mary figured out the secret! Sophie made out with Batwoman! Alice is holding full conversations with a skin mask attached to a mannequin! THINGS. ARE. CRAZY. We talk about how we think that Batwoman should be in the conversation about the best shows currently on tv, and Erin gets repeated visits from their pets. We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 12 “Take Your Choice.” Shelley and Erin get sad about Beth’s fate and then get very scared about Alice’s renewed sense of hatred toward Kate. Was this Alice’s last chance at redemption? As always, we gush about how great Mary Hamilton is and beg the show to just let Mary in on the secret. We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 11 “An Un-Birthday Present.” Erin and Shelley were hoping they wouldn’t have to bring back the podcast motto “keep your f#$%ing face on,” but here we are again. This episode had everything: Beth, Alice, Beth as Alice, people impaled on rebar, people setting cars on fire (apparently the wrong way), Kate getting hit by a truck (again), and Mary Hamilton being the smart and emotionally evolved queen we all know and love. We discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 10 “How Queer Everything is Today!” Batwoman is back, and Erin and Shelley are on the Hot Mess Express, because they recorded this episode well past their bedtimes. Our top five things this week: Batwoman is a lesbian (and gave a tell-all interview to Kara Freakin’ Danvers!), Alice is off the deep end, Parker Torres as The Terrier, Mary being a sweet angel and trying to save Jacob, and A DIFFERENT EARTH’S BETH WAS THROWN INTO EARTH PRIME AFTER THE CRISIS? This episode was insane, and easily one of the best of the season. Additionally, Shelley and Erin try to find out how many times they can say the word “queer” in one podcast, and they spend a long time trying to wrap their heads around the name “Slam Bradley.” Stay tuned for some bonus content after the outro. Shelley and Erin talk about the final two hours of Crisis on Infinite Earths. As you can probably guess, we are dying to see Lena and know what she’s up to after retaining her memories on Earth Prime. We love to hate Lex, but we need him to bounce over to Superman and Lois (#NoPodThough). We have a lot of questions and a few hot takes about the things left out of the resolution to Crisis, but we’re still glad it happened and that you all stuck with us while we spiraled into our Crisis obsession. Our apologies for some of the sound glitches in this episode – we are currently breaking up with the way we record our episodes and will have a post-breakup sound glow up once we find a new recording software on Tinder. Shelley and Erin talk about Crisis Giant #1, which gives us some offscreen insight into what else was happening during Hour 2 of the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. We are mostly very confused about how this story could possibly have happened in that timeframe and why the villain, Outkast, never shakes it like a Polaroid picture. Crisis Giant #1 also contained a Lex Luthor story that shows us just how smug (and endlessly entertaining) Earth-38 Lex really is. Listener Feedback: 2:33:00 – 3:15:20 Endorsements: Batwoman & Supergirl: World’s Finest Giant #1 - 3:15:20 – 3:18:10 Crisis on Infinite Earths Giant #1 – 3:18:10 – 3:19:14 We’ll release episodes of Red Hairing and Pod Off Course for Batwoman 1x08 and Supergirl 5x08 (and potentially some more crisis content) as we await the return of the crossover on January 14th, so keep an eye out for those upcoming episodes. In this special episode, Shelley and Erin prepare for the impending Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover starting on Supergirl on Sunday, December 8th at 8pm. We start with a recap of the crisis-related events that have happened in each Arrowverse show up until now, and then we dive into our theories, hopes, and a decent amount of fears about what’s going to happen. The Arrowverse recap ends at 41:02 if you want to skip straight to the theories section. Stay tuned for an outtake after the discussion where Erin realizes that they need to choose their words more carefully. We didn’t release regular episodes of Pod Off Course and Red Hairing this week due to our inability to think about anything except for Crisis, but we will record our normal podcast episodes for Supergirl 5x08 and Batwoman 1x08 during the break between Crisis episodes 3 and 4. You can find us on Twitter! Shelley is @schop23 and Erin is @erniegreenbean. The show’s Twitter pages are @RedHairingPod and @PodOffCourse, and you can also contact us at redhairingpod@gmail.com and podoffcourse@gmail.com.

In this episode, we discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 7 “Tell Me The Truth”. Kate teams up with Alfred Pennyworth’s daughter, Julia, to take down an assassin known as “The Rifle” who is working with Alice to kill anyone who knows how to replicate the coil accelerator. Alice exchanges the coil accelerator for a vile of yet-to-be-determined poison, but steals the coil itself, making the gun useless and potentially angering a mystery villain named Safiyah. The show delves deeper into Kate and Sophie’s current drama as a series of flashbacks shows us what happened between them at Point Rock. Tyler finds out about Sophie’s romantic past with Kate, and Sophie royally ticks off Shelley. Kate decides to open a gay bar across the street from a homophobic restaurant owner and finally spends time with Mary. We can’t quite make sense of the timeline of what’s happening with Jacob Kane, but we know we’re in for a wild ride. We make a lot of puns, and we do not apologize for them. Shelley demonstrates their superpower to get rid of hiccups, and Erin discovers a potential new career in Electronic Dance Music production. Stick around after the outro music for an outtake – Erin renames the episode due to a lack of preparation before recording. In this episode, we discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 6 “I’ll Be Judge, I’ll Be Jury”. The villain of the week goes by the name “The Executioner,” but we know a Scarecrow mask when we see one. As the Executioner takes down a cabal of corrupt law enforcement officials, Batwoman and Jacob Kane race to see who can stop him first. Meanwhile, we finally learn more about Luke’s backstory, and Mary continues to be everyone’s hero by confronting Sophie about her tumultuous history with Kate. Alice continues to be our favorite character, but Mouse is harshing our vibe. We take some time to discuss why the Scarecrow mask from Batman Begins will forever be Erin’s worst nightmare, but we ultimately conclude that masks are bad all the time. At least everyone kept their fingers. We issue a pre-apology at the end for how obsessed we are about the impending Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. VIDEO COMPANION TO SPECIAL EPISODE: https://youtu.be/o61xVdde8_w Just before we were set to record Pod Off Course: A Supergirl Podcast and Red Hairing: A Batwoman Podcast this week, The CW dropped a one minute and thirty second trailer for Crisis on Infinite Earths, this year’s major Arrowverse crossover. We dropped everything and recorded this special mini-episode, where they discuss the trailer frame by frame (with a healthy amount of pausing to freak out, of course). You can listen to the episode on its own, or you can check out the link above where we play the podcast audio over the trailer. We plan to release more crisis-related content as opportunities arise in the lead-up to the crossover event, so send us your thoughts and theories, and we’ll talk about them on the show! In this episode, we discuss Batwoman Season 1, episode 5 “Mine Is a Long and a Sad Tale.” Alice tells Kate about what happened to her in the aftermath of their car accident 15 years ago, and Mary deals with the revelation that her mother, Catherine, lied about finding Beth’s remains. Shelley and Erin try to work through their emotions about all of the creepy events that occur in this episode, but mostly just use a lot of profanity and establish the podcast’s new motto: Keep Your F***ing Face On. Outtake after the outro music – Shelley and Erin have a fun idea for the podcast’s line of merchandise. In this episode, we discuss Batwoman season 1, episode 4 “Who Are You?” The show continues its “villain of the week” format by introducing Magpie, a jewel thief with a proclivity for explosives. Kate tries to find a balance her new relationship and her Batwoman duties. Alice confronts Catherine Hamilton, leading to a grotesque scene that will haunt Shelley forever. In this episode, we discuss Batwoman Season 1, Episode 3 “Down Down Down”. A new villain makes his debut in Gotham. Not to be out done, Alice lets herself in to the Kane penthouse and finds proof that Kate never stopped looking for her. Sophie becomes Mary’s bodyguard, but is giving off jealous ex vibes. Batwoman finally gets her full suit and her name! Outtake after the outro music - our phones are spies. In this episode, we discuss Batwoman Season 1, Episode 2 “The Rabbit Hole”. We see how crazy Alice is and it is “should be viewed after 10pm” crazy. We are glad Kate and Alice had a chance to talk and love the beautiful cinematography that ensued. Mary is badass and nobody’s victim and her mom has at least one foot in sketchy waters. There is also another funny outtake that is the result of staying up way past one’s bedtime, specifically Shelley’s bedtime.
