DC WILL LEAD THE INDUSTRY!! Superman pre-sale tickets are officially breaking records, and DC is coming in HOT! Greg & Coy break down everything from James Gunn's upcoming Superman—starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White—to what this means for the future of the DCU. We explore the possibility of a Batman & Superman: World's Finest movie, the casting potential of Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman, and what Gunn's DC slate could bring with titles like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Lanterns, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, Booster Gold, Creature Commandos, Waller, and potential multiverse tie-ins with Peacemaker Season 2 and Crisis on Infinite Earths. We also go deep on the cultural impact of Mr. Terrific, speculate on hidden cameos in Superman, debate the rise of spoof movies (Scary Movie 6, Spaceballs 2, Naked Gun reboot), and reflect on the pressures of content creation, mental health, addiction, and honesty in the YouTube world. From superhero hype to personal growth and birthday horror wishes—this is one of the rawest, nerdiest, most hype-packed episodes of the Reel Rejects Podcast yet. Repasamos las series de Daredevil, El Eternauta y Astérix: El Combate de los Jefes.
There's arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman. No matter how many times he's been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City's greatest defender. With so much Bat content out there, there's plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank! This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman's history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters.Join hosts Daniel Cohen, Pop Break's former Film Editor, and Kris Ingersoll, co-host of the Media/Lit podcast, as they bring on several guests every month to share their passion for the one and only Dark Knight. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening. As this year marks the theatrical introduction of James Gunn's new DC shared Universe, we take a look back at another DC universe, that of the CW, and their five-part series that aired in 2019-2020; Crisis on Infinite Earths. Spanning five shows, and an endless roll call of DC characters, we got a lot to cover! As this was the ultimate CW endeavor, we couldn't do this month's episode without Podcasting Director of the Pop Break, Alex Marcus, as the CW expert shares his knowledge and wisdom on what worked, didn't work, and everything in between. While old hat to Alex, this was Daniel's first viewing of the full event. Did he like it?? Well, you'll have to listen to find out.The duo also discuss the cameos, who their MVPs of the series were, and does Daniel re-evaluate his take on Brandon Routh's Superman after this Crisis performance? If you're a diehard CW fan who followed these series as closely as Alex did, this is a must listen episode!

Show notes provided by Joe PelusoWorld's collide! World's die! Time and space merge unleashingapocalyptic chaos! And in the middle of it all are the greatest heroes and villains in the known universe! In advance of the coming void, new heroes debut to try to halt the coming cosmic disaster. The "old guard" is thrown into the breach where they find themselves battling forces of nature, time tossed Triassic terrors, and unknown heroes! It's time once again to join your hosts James, Keith, and Joe as they revisit the DC Comics universe shattering classic tale of "The Crisis on Infinite Earths"! The issues discussed and dissected in this segment are: #'s four, five, and six. And the first thing that becomes abundantly clear is that the artwork of George Perez, with the addition of Jerry Ordway's inks, gets even more spectacular! The guys drool over this artistic tour de force and drill down on the sheer magnitude of characters put to page, and the skillful storytelling techniques employed to delineate such a feat. And what else can be said about the writing chops of MarvWoflman, other than he puts the reader on his back as he rockets you through the vast DC Universe with surprises and shocks at every neck snapping turn!

Ben Morse joins Jimmy on the Cryptid Creator Corner today to talk about Ben's newest Kickstarter campaign for COBALT CRISIS, as Ben tackles creating his own crossover event. If you aren't familiar with the world of We Are Scarlet Twilight, it's Ben's take on Golden Age Superheroes, but with a more modern sensibility and a city setting that looks heavily influenced by Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927). This is a really great conversation that covers a lot of ground about comics, superheroes, crossover/crisis events, and, not surprisingly, Fritz Lang. This can be a great jumping on point if you haven't checked out We Are Scarlet Twilight. You can catch up and be ready to dive headfirst into the Cobalt Crisis! Show notes provided by Joe PelusoWhat do you get when you take a police procedural, mix it with science fiction and super-heroes, throw in social and political overtones that reflect modern society--and--call it an origin story? You get one guess--and it has nothing to do with a dead planet named Krypton. Give up? Well, the answer is Timothy Truman's three issuemasterpiece--HAWKWORLD. Join you hosts Keith and Joe for another installment of "Thinking Out of the Longbox With Keith" as the boys strap on their Nth metal wings and fly into an adventure of dynamic discovery of one of DC's seminal characters--Hawkman. The later half of the decade of the 1980's saw many DC icons reimagined for a modern age as the Crisis on Infinite Earths opened the door to new, fresh version of Superman, Wonder Woman, The Batman, The Flash, Green Arrow, and the "wingedwonder" from the Planet Thanagar! Truman's Hawkworld is a gritty, commentary on the abuse of power, and how it can tear apart an individual who has had his life mapped out for him. Katar Hol is a man fighting demons of the heart and mind, as well as those that prey on the less fortunate in the real world. The guys discuss the themes and tones such a world would impose on one man, and how he must fall from grace to eventually conquer all his demons so that he may become the beloved Silver Age version of Hawkman. And as they extol the virtues of Truman's dynamic and nuanced writing, they fairly flip their minds when they profusely praise his incredible art. This is a book the guys have been wanting to wax poetic about for a long time. We feel sure you will enjoy the discourse of this somewhat overlooked gem from comics best decade. And that classic exclamation "Look up in the sky!"--takes on a whole new meaning after reading Hawkworld!

We're looking back at the comic book scene of forty years ago, and we've brought in a special guest to help: ESO Network Director (and longtime comic book fan) Mike Faber. The big story of 1985 was Crisis on Infinite Earths, but we cover much more, including: The New Teen Titans, Justice League Detroit, the trial of the Flash, Elvira's House of Mystery, Secret Wars II, Heroes for Hope, the silliness of Ambush Bug, the genius of Alan Moore (Swamp Thing, Miracleman), and the independent stuff too (Love and Rockets, Cerebus, DNAgents, Jon Sable Freelance, and those crazy Ninja Turtles). This week we have a bottle episode where Matt gets tangled up in a bank robbery hostage situation and we get the episode where Daredevil finally returns. Was it worth the wait? Will we ever see Matt having dinner with the Khans? And does Muse have powers or what? Before that: gym influencer Joey Swoll! Will Doomsday end with a white screen, a la Crisis on Infinite Earths? Will Spider-Man ever grow up? And who is the villain anyway? The Kelce Brothers of movie podcasting answer all these and more! Thanks for listening.
It's becoming increasingly clear from my recent chats on the podcast and all the ones that happen in emails or DMs that a substantial part of the glass ceiling for women working in the comics medium centers around the editorial level, but is that accurate and what exactly might specific barriers be? Now I don't know about you, but to me, you ask an expert. So, I reached out to Rachel Pinnelas. Rachel, has been an Assistant Editor at both Marvel and DC, has worked as a journeyperson across the industry spending time at Aftershock, Dynamite, and Serial Box, and was a Mad Cave Talent Search Winner in 2022 who I'm hoping can shed some light on that question we've been exploring throughout the month of March for the Women In Comics Feature on the show. If you want an accurate assessment of where things stand with respect to the representation of women in the comics industry, this is as about as real talk as you are going to find. We also get to chat about Rachel's contribution as a writer to DC's I Know What You Did Last Crisis Halloween Special with her Scarcrow centered story set in a theater, and what she's up to in the near future which includes an exciting comics related museum show that hopefully I'll get to talk about in the near future. I Know What You Did Last Crisis From the publisher In the blackest night, when the darkness feels infinite, the very fabric of the universe begins to tear…as every major crisis in DCU history rises once again! These eight chilling tales, set during the events of crises past, serve to warn you, dear reader: when in crisis, watch your back. In the fractured world of Flashpoint, Professor Pyg is stalking Gotham City's nightclubs, sniffing out victims! During Blackest Night, Scarecrow lurks outside a movie theater, recruiting new test subjects to perfect his fear toxin! Even heroes like Nightwing aren't safe when his death might just have the power to reverse the damage of Infinite Crisis! All these, plus new stories from Crisis on Infinite Earths, Millennium, Zero Hour, The Final Night, and Final Crisis are collected in DC's I Know What You Did Last Crisis, a deadly new horror anthology coming to haunt you this fall! Continuing the mission of The Fire & Water Network show Who's Who – The Definitive Podcast of the DC Universe where it left off in 1992, DC Secret Files host Diabolu Frank will be joined by rotating guests as they look at individual characters and concepts from the publication history of DC Comics, home of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. This will be done chiefly through the company's Secret Files & Origins special publications, which featured 1-2 page brief encyclopedia entries coupled with art featuring a given subject. We'll talk about the property, the featured art, and also take a quick look at short stories that were paired with the entries. While the core focus will be on “modern age” tales from after the universe-shaking 1985 event maxi-series Crisis on Infinite Earths until the end of that continuity in 2011, the first year of shows will feature looks at the initial 50 years of DC, going back to prehistory, Ancient Egypt, the Wild West, the World Wars, and as far beyond as the 30th Century.Directions and art spotlights for each monthly episode can be found on the Rolled Spine Podcasts blog. The show will launch on April 2, 2025, as part of the multimedia crossover JSApril – Celebrating 85 years of the world's first and greatest superhero team! Próximo programa: What We Do In The Shadows (T6) / Star Trek - Lower Decks (T5).

It was the late ’80s and comic writer Grant Morrison was fast becoming Grant Morrison. Come back with us to look at his run on Animal Man, issues 1-26, in which a has-been/never-was superhero becomes an outspoken animal rights activist, witnesses the near-undoing of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and meets his own maker—who looks strangely like Grant Morrison. Before Deadpool and She-Hulk broke the fourth wall, this was Peak Meta. Chip Sudderth with Lisa Schmeiser and Tony Sindelar.
DCOCD is the DC Comics events podcast, where we look at every DC event in chronological order from Crisis on Infinite Earths to... we're not quite sure yet. The darkly violent Flashpoint universe is somehow back and no one is more surprised than Thomas Wayne who decides to do everything in his power to wipe out that reality to save his son.
