"A Mad Tea Party" — Alice in Wonderland (Chapter 7) | Books at BedtimeDrift off to a deep, peaceful sleep with Chapter 7 of Lewis Carroll's timeless classic, Alice in Wonderland. In tonight's episode of Books at Bedtime, we journey into "A Mad Tea Party". Let the nonsensical, rhythmic banter of the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the sleepy Dormouse lull your busy mind into a state of calm relaxation. If you are struggling with insomnia, late-night anxiety, or a restless mind, this soft-spoken, comforting narration is designed specifically to help you disconnect from the day and transition smoothly into a night of deep, restorative rest.
Journey back to Disneyland's early decades through postcards filled with personal memories, vintage stamps, and Main Street history. This episode begins with a 1959 ride aboard Casey Jr. Circus Train as a postcard sender describes warm California weather, busy travel plans, and a magical trip through Storybook Land. Along the way, we explore the life and work of Disney artist and Imagineer Bruce Bushman, whose designs helped shape Fantasyland classics including Casey Jr., the Mad Tea Party, Monstro the Whale, and the Peter Pan pirate ships. The second postcard transports us to 1969 with the Disneyland Band performing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. That card leads into the story of Disney Legend Don Dagradi—artist, writer, and collaborator on attractions like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, as well as beloved Disney films including Lady and the Tramp and Mary Poppins. Together, Bushman and Dagradi share one of Disneyland's iconic Main Street windows above the Market House. Finally, an incoming postcard featuring Space Mountain at night brings the episode into the modern era with a humorous travel mishap, Disney mail memories, and a look at the USPS frozen treats scratch-and-sniff stamp. Step back in time with three postcards from Disneyland that capture the magic of the park across decades. From a 1958 Jungle Cruise adventure aboard the Mekong Maiden to a 1977 spin on the Mad Tea Party, each card offers a firsthand glimpse into the sights, sounds, and sentiments of a day at Disneyland—complete with vintage stamps, park hours, weather, and personal messages sent home. This episode also highlights Disney legend Bob Mattey, the mechanical effects pioneer behind the Jungle Cruise animals, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and even the infamous shark from Jaws. His contributions helped bring Disneyland's earliest attractions to life and earned him a lasting tribute on Main Street, U.S.A. Finally, a modern Postcrossing postcard ties past and present together with a heartfelt story of a 1972 visit—recalling ticket books, low crowds, and attractions that connect Disneyland to the 1964 New York World's Fair. From nostalgic notes to behind-the-scenes history, this episode explores how postcards preserve not just memories—but the evolving story of Disneyland itself. Below are some of the regulars on Art Throw Down, Follow all of them on Instagram anyway for great art and postcards in your Instagram feed: Hipstadufus, luluvision, jlynch9923, greenmosspaper, georgemailsart, state_of_the_funyun, RussRomano2021

What does it actually take to land a gig with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band? Eric Baines — multi-instrumentalist, producer, touring musician, and podcaster — breaks it all down on this episode of Cover Band Confidential.Eric is currently the bass player for the legendary band Chicago, but the road to that stage ran through Berklee College of Music, the chaotic LA wedding circuit, celebrity gigs with David Foster and Babyface, and — yes — Disneyland's Mad Tea Party show. This is a masterclass in what it really looks like to build a professional music career from the ground up.We dig into the wild realities of LA wedding band life, how playing 200+ nights a year sharpens your musicianship, what working inside the Disney machine teaches you about performance energy, and how word-of-mouth networking (and never burning bridges) ultimately led Eric to Dwight Yoakam and then to Chicago. He also gets real about what it felt like to get "the call," the decision-making process when you already have a steady gig and a new baby at home, and what his first night on stage with Chicago was actually like.If you're a working musician, a touring artist, or anyone trying to build a sustainable career in music, this episode is packed with honest, practical wisdom.

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Is it your un-birthday? Doesn't matter. Come along as we head to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom to ride Mad Tea Party on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on May 21, 2025. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we're off to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom to ride Fantasyland's Mad Tea Party. The Walt Disney World website describes this attraction saying: Spin 'round and 'round in a giant teacup during a madcap music-filled whirlwind. There are no height requirements for this attraction. Before we spin like mad, here are five fast facts about Mad Tea Party at Magic Kingdom. 1. Mad Tea Party opened with Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971. 2. Mad Tea Party at Magic Kingdom opened without a canopy over it. The current canopy was added a few years later in 1973. The central teapot with the dormouse was added at this time as well. 3. In 1992, the attraction was updated with a new color scheme, new music and the decorative lanterns. In 2010, the canopy was repainted. 4. Imagineer and artist, Mary Blair provided the designs for the teacups having worked on the original film Alice In Wonderland. 5. Mad Tea Party is one of the attractions that receives a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Overlay with spooky lighting, music and fog effects. We covered this version of the ride back in Attraction Checklist episode #104. Let's go spin ourselves silly on Mad Tea Party. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we ride Mad Tea Party at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. That is not all, more details will be revealed leading up to the big day. There will be banana treats at both parks as well. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/savannah-bananas-at-disneyland-what-to-know/ Couples who love the Haunted Mansion now have an opportunity to make it part of their big day! Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons is adding the Haunted Mansion courtyard to the other great locations around the Disneyland Resort. The Mansion offers a dramatic backdrop for tying the knot. There is a catch – this location is only available in the early morning before the park opens, and can accommodate up to 25 guests. The Magnolia Park Terrace, just next door is also available for booking. Reservations for this space start in July. – https://disneyparksblog.com/weddings/live-happily-ever-after-on-the-steps-of-haunted-mansion-at-disneyland/ This past weekend was the Super Bowl, and the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots, which means they got to say that famous phrase – “We're going to Disneyland!” Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, and Quarterback Sam Darnold lead a cavalcade on February 9th. The duo also enjoyed some attractions, like the Mad Tea Party, posed for photos with Mickey and Minnie, and more. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disneyland-super-bowl-visit-2026/ Disneyland Ducks are as much as part of the resort as anything else. Finally, they are getting the recognition they deserve! Guests can now pick up a tee with the Disneyland ducks walking in front of the castle. – https://www.micechat.com/431336-disneyland-news-new-ceo-napa-rose-reborn-dca-25th/ Another part of Disneyland are the iconic guests that have become part of the park-going experience. There is Jon Hale, who is known for riding Radiator Springs Racers over 15,000 times, Peter, known for his clapping and fist bumping other guests, and, of course, Frank. Frank was known for sitting on the porch on Main Street and people watching. We met him a few years ago at that spot. Unfortunately, Frank passed away back in August, but the “New Century Historical Society” has honed him with a plaque on the bench that reads “Every day is my best day.” This was one of Frank's mantras. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-frank-the-porch-potato-bench-plaque/ Most folks know about the Disney Visa Card from Chase that offers you cash back on everyday purchases, as well as Disney money you can spend in the parks and more. A new Disney Inspire Visa Card is now out. New members can get up to a $600 bonus, with a $300 Disney Gift Card sent to you upon approval, and a $300 statement credit after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. There is an annual fee of $149. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/new-disney-inspire-visa-card-600-offer/ SnackChat: Parkside Market – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/downtown-disney-district/vista-parkside-market/menus/bar-–-lounge/ https://www.parksidemarketla.com/ Discussion Topic: More with Alex Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Let me know--thanks!(From - Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll: beginning of Chapter 7.)There was a table set out under a tree in front of the house, and the March Hare and the Hatter were having tea at it: a Dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep, and the other two were using it as a cushion, resting their elbows on it, and talking over its head. “Very uncomfortable for the Dormouse,” thought Alice; “only, as it's asleep, I suppose it doesn't mind.”The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: 1- “No room! No room!” they cried out when they saw Alice coming. “There's plenty of room!” said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table.2- “Have some wine,” the March Hare said in an encouraging tone.Alice looked all round the table, but there was nothing on it but tea. “I don't see any wine,” she remarked.3- “There isn't any,” said the March Hare.“Then it wasn't very civil of you to offer it,” said Alice angrily.“It wasn't very civil of you to sit down without being invited,” said the March Hare.4- “I didn't know it was your table,” said Alice; “it's laid for a great many more than three.”“Your hair wants cutting,” said the Hatter. He had been looking at Alice for some time with great curiosity, and this was his first speech.“You should learn not to make personal remarks,” Alice said with some severity; “it's very rude.”5- The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on hearing this; but all he said was, “Why is a raven like a writing-desk?”“Come, we shall have some fun now!” thought Alice. “I'm glad they've begun asking riddles.—I believe I can guess that,” she added aloud.6- “Do you mean that you think you can find out the answer to it?” said the March Hare.“Exactly so,” said Alice.“Then you should say what you mean,” the March Hare went on.7- “I do,” Alice hastily replied; “at least—at least I mean what I say—that's the same thing, you know.”“Not the same thing a bit!” said the Hatter. “You might just as well say that ‘I see what I eat' is the same thing as ‘I eat what I see'!”8- “You might just as well say,” added the March Hare, “that ‘I like what I get' is the same thing as ‘I get what I like'!”9- “You might just as well say,” added the Dormouse, who seemed to be talking in his sleep, “that ‘I breathe when I sleep' is the same thing as ‘I sleep when I breathe'!”10- “It is the same thing with you,” said the Hatter, and here the conversation dropped, and the party sat silent for a minute, while Alice thought over all she could remember about ravens and writing-desks, which wasn't much.Intro & Outro Music: La Pompe Du Trompe by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com Support the showEmail me: swift.water3883@fastmail.comYou can now support my podcasts and classes:Help Barry pay for podcast expenses--thank you!

IT'S TIME TO WATCH THE MUPPETS! This week with special guest Brooke Shields. Distracted rants include but are not limited to Princeton University, Michelle Obama, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Humpty Dumpty, The Muppets' Wizard of Oz, Stephnie Weir, Timothée Chalamet, and much more!"Brooke stars as Alice in the Muppet production of Alice in Wonderland. The onstage zaniness can't match the usual backstage chaos -- Fozzie thinks he's going to play the Tin Woodman, and Miss Piggy (scheduled to play the Queen of Hearts) is hoping to take over as Alice.Bunsen's special effects make Brooke too tall to leave her dressing room -- and then shrink her so small that no one can find her. Piggy, still hoping for the lead, tries to "accidentally" step on Brooke. Finally, Gonzo as the Mad Hatter heads the Mad Tea Party, which ends with a rousing chorus of "We're Off to See the Wizard.""Follow us:Twitter.com/ittwtmInstagram.com/ittwtm

This chapter describes a chaotic tea party between Alice, the March Hare, the Hatter and the Dormouse. When Alice arrives at the table, she is met with the unexpected offer of wine from the March Hare, despite the fact that there is no wine to be seen on the table. The Hatter, who has been observing Alice with great curiosity, decides to make a rude comment about her hair, causing Alice to scold him for his lack of manners. As the conversation continues, the guests begin to ask each other riddles and engage in a game of wordplay. The Hatter asks the famous riddle, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?" to which Alice confidently replies that she can guess the answer. However, the March Hare and the Hatter challenge her with a series of nonsensical comparisons, leaving Alice feeling flustered. The conversation takes a curious turn when the Hatter asks Alice what day of the month it is, revealing that his watch only tells the date and not the time. This leads to a lively argument between the Hatter and the March Hare about the reliability of the watch and the quality of the butter that was used to lubricate it. Alice, who has been observing the antics of the Hatter and the March Hare, comments on the strange design of the watch, causing the Hatter to question why it should tell the time at all.The chapter ends with the guests sitting in silence as Alice thinks about ravens and writing-desks, and the Hatter and the March Hare continue to bicker over the accuracy of the watch. The scene is full of playful banter and absurdity, making it a delightful and entertaining part of Alice's journey down the rabbit hole.
The Hatter and the March Hare give the strangest of tea parties.

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Whether it's your Very Merry Un-Birthday or not, we're headed to Disneyland for a spin on Mad Tea Party on this episode of Attraction Checklist. Attraction audio recorded on May 18, 2021. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. Let's head to Fantasyland in Disneyland to visit Mad Tea Party. The Disneyland Resort website describes this attraction saying: Pour yourself into an oversized teacup and spin through a whimsical party. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and the thrill level describes this attraction as being a Spinning Ride. Before we spill the tea, here are five fast facts about Mad Tea Party. 1. The original Mad Tea Party opened with Disneyland on July 17, 1955. This version was located directly behind King Arthur's Carousel. In 1983, the attraction was moved to its current location near the Alice In Wonderland attraction. 2. The original Mad Tea Party that opened with the parks had tea cups that featured no brakes or clutches nothing that limited how fast they spun. 3. In 2004, the amount of spin each tea cup had was limited after a guest experience a serious fall on the attraction. The limitation was later restored after guests complained. 4. For Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, one the other teacups on the attraction was painted gold. 5. The designs on the tea cups were designed by Disney Legend Mary Blair. Let's pick out a teacup and get spinning. After the ride, I'll give you my thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we ride Mad Tea Party at Tea Party.
