Host Anthony Desiato and guest Dan Greenfield (13th Dimension) dig into the 1980 film SUPERMAN II, a beloved entry in the franchise despite — or perhaps because of? — being the product of two directors' visions. A combination of original director Richard Donner's more grounded, earnest approach and replacement Richard Lester's campier leanings, the movie follows Christopher Reeve's Superman as he relinquishes his powers to begin a romance with Lois Lane (Margot Kidder)...just as Kryptonian trio of Zod, Non, and Ursa escape the Phantom Zone. The specific focus of this episode is the official theatrical cut, though Anthony and Dan do discuss the long-fabled Donner Cut, which was finally released in 2006 — and offer their final word on what the "best" version of SUPERMAN II truly is.Support the show and receive exclusive podcast content at Patreon.com/AnthonyDesiato, including the spinoff podcasts BEYOND METROPOLIS and DIGGING FOR JUSTICE!Visit BCW Supplies and use promo code FSP to save 10% on your next order of comics supplies. "Bleav in Steelers" host Mark Bergin is joined by "Bleav in Ravens" host Matt Trigger to discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens. The guys discussed how the Steelers have dominated the recent rivalry, winning seven of the last eight matchups. The Steelers have been Lamar Jackson's kryptonite. Jackson has a 2-4 record against Pittsburgh. They also talked about Russell Wilson's success in his first three games with the Steelers, and whether the team should offer him a lucrative contract extension in the offseason. Sunday will mark the first time Diontae Johnson will go against the Steelers, his former team. The Steelers will be without edge rusher Alex Highsmith due to an ankle injury. They could get Nick Herbig back from a hamstring injury. Newly acquired edge rusher Preston Smith is also expected to get reps. Meanwhile, Baltimore brings a potent offense but faces challenges on defense, allowing the most passing yards per game in the NFL. Can the Ravens' high-scoring attack overcome the Steelers' second-half dominance, where they've outscored opponents 135-55? Host Anthony Desiato and guest Bernie Gerstmayr (Aw Yeah Comics) dig into what is generally regarded as one of the very best — if not THE best — superhero films of all time: 1978's SUPERMAN from director Richard Donner, which prioritized verisimilitude in its earnest, reverent approach and introduced audiences to Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. Anthony and Bernie discuss the four major acts of the film as they follow Kal-El from Krypton to Smallville, then Metropolis, and ultimately the deserts of California for the film's iconic (though debated) finale.Support the show and receive exclusive podcast content at Patreon.com/AnthonyDesiato, including the spinoff podcasts BEYOND METROPOLIS and DIGGING FOR JUSTICE!Visit BCW Supplies and use promo code FSP to save 10% on your next order of comics supplies. If you have a manufacturer-owned chain as a competitor, you know the pain. They outspend you on advertising. They are aggressive in their pursuit of new patients. They have a national brand. They have economies of scale. They have many, many advantages. Yet they do have a kryptonite, and there are several ways you can use your superpower against them to fight back and grow your market share. In this week's podcast, I share exactly what this is and how you, as David, can beat Goliath by using your brains rather than your bank balance.

Leadership Kryptonite #3: Critical Spirit “‘Scoffer' is the name of the arrogant, haughty man who acts with arrogant pride.” Proverbs 21:24 (ESV) Zero offense intended to all the wonderful Debbys, Nellies, and Carls in our lives. Thankfully, you are not a Negative Nelly, Debby Downer, or Complaining Carl. However, I guarantee you know a few. They go by different names but always seem to work their way into a team. It's known as a critical spirit, and it is a deadly form of leadership kryptonite. At a previous church, we had a member of our team who lived with a critical spirit. He saw everything through a negative lens. He challenged every new idea, doubted every decision, and always expected the worst. Unfortunately, he brought the entire team down. A person with a critical spirit is to a team what water is to a fire. They quench enthusiasm, hinder progress, and create an atmosphere of negativity. To lead effectively, we must recognize and address this destructive attitude. Get The Notes

Welcome back, everyone, to another round of Q&A in which I will be answering some of your burning questions! This time, I reflect on things such as where I see myself and my business in the next five to ten years. While long-term vision admittedly is not always my strongest suit, my team and I recently pushed ourselves to create a five-year plan that includes exciting growth goals across various areas! I also answer questions about the challenges of focus (something that I like to call our creative "Kryptonite”) and share how my team has been honing our priorities to stay on track with our mission, and you will hear me discuss some pivotal moments in my career and the mentors who helped shape my path. I additionally touch on the importance of family and work-life balance, sharing how I navigate both, especially with two kids now in school, and I discuss my homebody tendencies, gardening, and the joy of raising chickens and crafting with my daughter! I really hope that you will join me for this second round of questions and for this thoughtful, personal episode filled with stories, lessons, and tips on everything from business strategy to maintaining creative energy, and, as always, remember that there's room for you!

EPISODE 2 - A World Without - “Powers beat Psycho Everytime”Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I'm Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody. Let's talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 2 - A World WithoutDirected by:Sudz SutherlandWritten By:Katie Aldrin and Kristi KorzekThe Apple TV and Imdb description is: Lana and Sarah join the fight against Luthor, who starts making moves in Smallville; Jordan and Jonathan butt heads over an important decision.Very sweet of Lana to get everyone away but “Superman is Lois' friend, her GOOD friend” was just sooooo cheesy. That must've been painful for Lana as she knew and loved Clark first, I wish it had been a better moment. First time around I missed that Lara put Clark in a sort of suspended animation. In previous iterations of the Death including the comics he wasn't really dead. He just needed time to regenerate. In this case he doesn't have a HEART. So he's legit dead right? “An alter state of existence.” At first I thought it was the phantom zone but it's how Kal-El made it to earth in his pod.Lana going after Luthor makes sense. She is the mayor Smallville, he's in her town now. Also if you remember in the early Byrne era, Lana took a literal beating from Luthor's goons in Superman #2, as mentioned previously. She had a rough go of it in the comics until she married Pete Ross.An Ocean's 11 type one last score does not seem to fit with the prize being Superman's FUCKING HEART. I dunno, it's so gruesome. Obviously Lex figured out that Jordan has powers. Even though he didn't figure out Clark was Superman, something about Jordan's disguise seemed so obvious. The idea that he never figured out Clark's secret because of his hubris/arrogance makes sense to me. I'm sorry but this plan to go on a two-front heart stealing with Sarah distracing is just silly. I get that the first episode had heavy emotion so they needed an action plot but it was sillyJordan standing up against the Kryptonite was cool but I wish there was some nuance where because he's half-human Kryptonite doesn't affect him as much and that he could fight against itCan't believe Luthor squashed Superman's heart. Like how are they going to get out of this one? I love that we don't know. Jor-El Clark. I like it. Does this mean Clark's the fortress guy for the next couple episodes? With only 10 episodes are they really going to not have Superman in the show for more than like one more? EPISODE 1: The End & The Beginning - “Sometimes I'm a Little Dorky”Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I'm Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody. Catch up on Superman movie news, how that affected S&L, Super/Man Chris reeveLet's talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 1Directed by:Gregory SmithWritten By:Brent Fletcher and Todd HelbingThe Apple TV and Imdb description is: Superman is locked in a brutal battle with Luthor's monster; Lois and the boys race against time to save General Lane.Opening shot of cape torn apart was perfectBiker jacket badass Lex music was great - he's SCARYAmanda McCoy - from early in Byrne's run. She's the scientist who figured out Clark was Superman in Issue #2Boys picked up on Clark's fear vs DoomsdayThe flashback kills me - “Sometimes I'm a Little Dorky”I never thought in a million years that I'd see Superman lose his virginity, unless that happened on Smallville lol. “Get ready to have a new best day of your life.”The fight was really really good. I love that it was in space - away from civilians. They Did the thing - Man of Steel #19!The Flashback of Lois in her signature Purple with the vest is almost too much for me to handleSo a tiny shard of Kryptonite in Clark's neck doesn't hurt him?Gretchen Kelley is luthor's personal physician, but here it isn't her real name - “No one can hide from Luthor.” Wasn't she also Lex Luthor II's fake mother?Luthor sitting down with the kids scared the crap out of me and just when I thought he couldn't scare me any more he slammed on the table and WHOAWhat did you think of Luthor's bushy flashback look? I kinda liked it!What did you think about the whole source of the plot is that Lois screwed up, and screwed up big? I have a problem with it. To me Lois is infallible when it comes to journalism. Are there other times when she was just flat out wrong and it cost someone their life? I love Sam Lane being a guy who has 9 lives. I feel like he has more depth as a character than he ever had in the comics, with exception of around Krisis of Krimson Kryptonite when Lois' mom was dying, and he accepted Clark etc. Sam said, “Luthor tried to kill him for years and failed” but does the timing work out? Seems like Luthor would've gone to jail right around Superman's debut? The timeline is still fuzzy to me. Superman's last stand when he emerges from the asteroid was an appropriate use of angry red eyes of anger. While I appreciate we needed Doomsday to take superman's heart to have a plot for the next episode and because Lex said it early on, I don't like that Superman didn't die saving everyone. That should be the thing. Paying the ultimate sacrifice. Doomsday just straight up beat him. Don't like that.“Milton,” “Brainiac going to his head…”The last few moments were really hard to watch. The combination of Lois' horror with all the flashback moments was a lot. This is ACTING. I got to say to Bitsie in person last year that she was robbed of an Emmy nom. And She agreed lol. I know we talked about how these kinds of shows don't get those kinds of awards and I just don't accept that. Protestantism is built upon "Five Solas." "Sola" is Latin for "alone," and so the battle cry of the Reformation became: Sola Scriptura ("Scripture Alone"), Sola Fide ("Faith Alone"), Sola Gratia ("Grace Alone"), Solus Christus ("Christ Alone"), Soli Deo Gloria ("Glory to God Alone"). The Reformers intended these to be a refutation of Catholicism, and Protestant apologists today think of them as Kryptonite to the Catholic Church. But in this conversation from a few years ago, Greg and Cory take them on one-by-one. Support this ministry so more people can consider Catholicism! I always feel bad for Superman… so much strength and yet, a simple rock of kryptonite nearly would ruin him! Kryptonite, a fictitious rock has become the cultural metaphor we all know, and probably need. What's your kryptonite? Gideon is about to find out, and it's a familiar story that doesn't end well. The Bible has its own word for kryptonite (Hint: it's easier to spell) and with it a solution that should be at the center of your life. We've wrapped up Heroes this week with an important message.
