Jace and Rocky chat about the DC titles for the week of September 10, 2025. It's a big week with tons of titles. Absolute Batman shows Bane's actions possibly starting Bruce's friends down the path to villainy while Dak Patterns continues to look at his early years in Gotham. We also get a chance to see a very different version of Batman as the Gotham By Gaslight era continues in League for Justice. Trinity keeps time-hopping and the Children of the Round Table receive their weapons with both titles very appropriate for young readers. The debut issue of Red Hood shows real potential for the character and the art is amazing. Fire and Ice continue their journey into hell and things take a turn for the worse for Superman as he continues to be exposed to the new forms of Kryptonite. The action and emotion of Green Lantern Corps is superbly balanced while Aquaman has more assertivesness while amongst the trinity than he ever has before, could this hint that he has a big role to play in DC K.O?

This week we're cracking into Z-O-D, a powerful live resin sugar from Moxie. Built from the genetics of Viper City and Kryptonite, this indica-leaning concentrate delivers a clean, flavorful dab that shows why Moxie has earned its reputation for quality.Z-O-D hits with a skunky, berry-diesel aroma layered with sour undertones and a smooth finish that doesn't bring the harsh cough some concentrates do. The terpene profile is led by β-caryophyllene, with supporting notes of limonene and linalool, giving it that mix of earthy spice, citrus brightness, and a subtle floral calm. At around 82% THC with additional cannabinoids like CBG and CBD, it's a balanced heavy-hitter that leaves you relaxed yet mentally awake. We found Z-O-D to be surprisingly versatile: a “mental health day” kind of strain that can help you unwind without shutting you down. Great for creative work, a late-night hike under the moon, or even a focused gym session—it's fuel for both the body and the brain. You can find Z-O-D by Moxie at Beehive Farmacy in Utah. How do I pass my Drug Test? Host Anthony Desiato and guest Mike Sangregorio dig into the Superman bibliography of notorious writer Chuck Austen, including his 2004-2005 run on ACTION COMICS with Ivan Reis — which resurrected the decades-old romantic rivalry between Lois Lane & Lana Lang, introduced a new Gog, and infused Clark with a Spidey-esque sensibility. Anthony and Mike also unpack a pair of fill-in issues (on SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL), the 12-issue maxiseries SUPERMAN: METROPOLIS starring Jimmy Olsen, and the JLA arc "Pain of the Gods." Are all the fans and critics right about Austen, or is there any redemption to be had? Oh, and have Anthony and Mike solved the mystery of writer J.D. Big O talks Jasmy & Kryptonite 080425
Send us a textAs promised, this week on episode #109 of "Fabulous Film & Friends we're going to weigh in on the two big ticket super hero extravaganzas from the Summer of 2025: James Gunn's Superman starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisando, Wendell Pierce, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Sara Sampaio and Nicholas Hoult up against The Fantastic Four: First Steps directed by Matt Shakman and starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner and Ralph Ineson. Returning for yet another daringly detailed deep dive into the world of fantastical four colored fantasies is nephew to a comic bookstore Kingpin, author, teacher and hypnotherapist, Joe Field. Before we blast off into the Ultra-Negative Zone, the synopses: In 2025's Superman, it is 3 years into his mission and Earth's Champion, The Man of Steel has met his match in Lex Luthor who causes a distraction with a giant monster and breaks into Superman's secret Fortress of Solitude where he translates a message from Superman's parents in which they instruct their son Kal El –Superman's Kryptonian name-- to take over earth and spread his seed. Using this jarringly awkward info to turn public opinion against our hero, Luthor has also made a clone of Superman called Ultraman who continually batters and beats the Man of Steel into submission. On top of that, Luthor has a Pocket Universe where he jails his enemies including his ex-girlfriends. And Lex has Ultraman place Superman in a cage with another a super powered being named Metamorpho who can weaken Superman by turning his hands into Kryptonite. Ultimately, Luthor's cruelty overwhelms Metamorpho who helps Superman escape the pocket universe but it in doing so, the unstable dimensional rift threatens to swallow Earth. It is only with the help of scrappy reporter Lois Lane and a team of heroes called The Justice Gang that Superman that is able to beat Ultraman, Luthor and close the rift. There's also some political stuff going on with two made up countries going to War because of Luthor's manipulations. In The Fantastic Four: First Steps it has been four years since Reed Richards, Sue Storm, her brother Johnny and Ben Grimm were transformed by cosmic rays into the world's protectors, super stretchy genius Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and the rock man known as The Thing who are biggest celebrities on the planet. The exciting news that team leaders Reed Richards and Sue Storm are expecting their first child is put on the back burner by the arrival of the Silver Surfer the herald of the planet eating Celestial known as Galactus. Galactus tells the Fantastic Four that he will spare Earth in exchange for their yet unborn child, but that his too high a price to pay. With the public opinion against them, and world watching nervously, the team springs into action and devises a incredible plan to teleport planet earth into the far reaches of space. But then the Surfer and Galactus arrive and put the kabosh on the plan so the FF amends the plan to send Galactus himself into the far reaches of space, which seemed like the better strategy to begin with. So which movie was dumber and more suitable for booger eating six year olds? Find out!Watch to the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/cZCszsepEVM

He's Superman's greatest foe, and Action Comics #23 is where he first appears. You can tell there was no grand plan for this guy, since they kill him at the end of the story. But still, the key elements of Lex are there, even if he does have a head of hair and wears a weird robe. Also: does this story feature proto-Kryptonite?Before that we have some news including Fantastic Four: First Steps box office, Marvel cutting costs, the full reveal of the history of metahumans mural from Superman and more. Plus: your questions! This week we discuss what we want to have happen to our stuff when we die. Next week: all four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda. See you then!
Today we talked with Kara from the legendary Alpaca Treehouse in Atlanta, Georgia—a property so unique that it might literally be the only one of its kind in the world. What started with gateway livestock chickens and a treehouse built for wine nights with friends has evolved into something that defies categorization: a bamboo jungle sanctuary in the middle of the city, complete with rescued llamas, alpacas, and guanacos, where dying children find comfort and grieving parents practice yoga. From accidentally rescuing some of only 200 guanacos in the country to hosting hip-hop music videos and Netflix shows, Kara's journey illustrates what happens when you follow your intuition instead of a business plan. Within three weeks of launching, she was featured on Treehouse Masters. Her properties now span two states and include everything from a renovated 1963 trailer overlooking waterfalls to an underground Hobbit house designed like a European castle. As a former general contractor turned full-time host, Kara's approach to building involves saving both animals and architectural antiques—her front door was once the mayor of Atlanta's back door, and her floors came from a 1900s church. We'll explore how she sources reclaimed materials, trains crews to work with vintage pieces, and why she believes boring is her kryptonite.Whether you're dreaming of your first unique stay or wondering how to create something truly one-of-a-kind, this conversation offers insights into following that electrified feeling, the power of becoming obsessed with your craft, and why sometimes the universe sends you unwanted goats to redirect your path.Instagram: @alpacatreehouseBooking Link: https://www.alpacatreehouse.comUSA Today feature: https://10best.usatoday.com/travel/10-best-hotels-animal-lovers-sanctuaries-united-states/Llama Yoga: https://www.alpacatreehouse.com/experienceAlpaca Treehouse in the news: https://www.alpacatreehouse.com/pressInstagram: @cozyrockcabinCozy Rock Cabin: https://staycozycabin.holidayfuture.com/listings/311027Cozy Camp Sebec: https://staycozycabin.holidayfuture.com/listings/311051Cozy Rock Website: http://www.staycozycabin.comYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_FgMwAgvORd1IwlH1nlC9g
On this episode of The Post Credits, we're suiting up to review James Gunn's Superman (2025) — the first official chapter in the new DCU. With David Corenswet donning the cape and Rachel Brosnahan as a sharp, fearless Lois Lane, the question is: did Gunn's vision soar, or just take a cautious first flight? We're breaking down the performances, the tone, the villains, the Daily Planet vibes, and all the connective tissue (hello, Guy Gardner!) that might shape the DCU moving forward.
The Astros finally score first, breaking their streak of letting up the first run. However, they still ended up with the loss. Can John and Lance help Sean Mapes find love with a celebrity? Christian Wilkins out of hand or are teammates overreacting? And do the Texans have a good enough backfield or do they need to look for more help after Mixon's injury?
Host Anthony Desiato and guest Martin Gray (Too Dangerous... Review Blog) make good on a longtime podcast promise and deliver justice at last for Pete Ross — the oft-neglected (at best) childhood best friend of one Clark Kent. Since his Silver Age debut, Pete has served many roles: noble, silent protector of Clark's secret; off-panel victim of Toyman & Prankster; husband to Lana & father to Clark Peter Ross; Vice President of the United States alongside Lex Luthor; and more. With few exceptions, Pete's value as a character has rarely been met by the stories that feature him, and the time has come to speak up for Pete and the place he deserves to occupy in the Superman mythology.Support the show and receive exclusive podcast content at Patreon.com/AnthonyDesiato, including the spinoff podcasts BEYOND METROPOLIS and DIGGING FOR JUSTICE!Visit BCW Supplies and use promo code FSP to save 10% on your next order of comics supplies. This week on Walk the Talk Show, Waylon speaks about how Superman is an ideal Buddhist hero. "Growing up, Superman was a hero of mine. Kind. Caring. He used his strength, his power, not for evil or hurt or selfishness but to protect those in need, children, the vulnerable. He wasn't grim, like Batman. He was, in Buddhist fashion, vulnerable himself (Kryptonite) and unafraid to smile, to romance, to fly high and celebrate this magical life and world from a lovely yet noble and appreciative, loving point of view. I'm glad to see his example back. We need kindness as heroism, now." ~ Waylon H. Lewis
The one thing Mr. Authenticity was supposed to be was the anti-politician: the guy who would supposedly go after the establishment, clean up Washington, and make a booming economy. Now, Trump's acting just like a typical politician trying to cover-up a scandal—and he's vulnerable to a backlash from the manosphere that went all in on him. Meanwhile, he is getting near-Biden polling numbers on the economy, he's trying to make the Fed chair his scapegoat, and he's the best American president the Chinese auto industry ever had. Plus, Newsom's prospects in '28 and the success of 'change' mayors across the board. Host Anthony Desiato and guest Ed Gross dig into SUPERMAN #330 from the Bronze Age — aka the comic book origin of the hypno-glasses that inspired their use in James Gunn's Superman. Anthony and Ed also offer up a wider survey of the Clark/Superman identity across time and media, from the traditional Pre-Crisis depiction to its Post-Crisis inversion, and the exceptions and nuances along the way.PLUS: Head on over to the Digging for Kryptonite Patreon this Friday (7/25/25) for a FREE BONUS episode — in which Anthony mounts a defense for Superman maintaining a secret identity with guest Perry Constantine (Superhero Cinephiles).Support the show and receive exclusive podcast content at Patreon.com/AnthonyDesiato, including the spinoff podcasts BEYOND METROPOLIS and DIGGING FOR JUSTICE!Visit BCW Supplies and use promo code FSP to save 10% on your next order of comics supplies. Look! It's a nerd! It's a podcast! It's a nerdy podcast about the importance of Superman just as a new iteration of the trunks wearing titan appears on the big screen. Why do people say Superman is boring? Why does he constantly get compared to Batman? And really, was that N64 game more fatal to Superman's reputation than a pocketful of Kryptonite? Our hosts both analyze and celebrate the man of steel, talking as passionately and enthusiastically as we all wish Henry Cavill got to do in even just one of his movies.Want even more Nerd of Mouth?
