There was a season where I was saying yes to everything, building momentum for my book Wintality, showing up everywhere, and burning myself completely out. I had to do something I call killing Superman, not literally, but retiring the people-pleaser, the fear-of-missing-out version of myself that was destroying my future while trying to help everyone else's. In this episode, I walk through exactly how identifying your personal kryptonite is the first move toward operating at the level you are actually capable of. The lesson is uncomfortable, but if you go down, everyone depending on you goes down too. Key Takeaways Saying yes to everything feels productive but is one of the fastest ways to deplete yourself and derail your own dreams. Everyone has a kryptonite. You must define yours specifically before you can consciously fight it. The higher you go in life, the more powerful your nos become. Strategic nos create space to find the yes that is actually for you. Putting yourself last while helping everyone else is a form of self-hypocrisy that has to be called out and corrected. You do not have to master this overnight. Keeping your kryptonite on the forefront of your mind and pausing before reacting is how progress starts. Action Steps Write down the one pattern or word that consistently derails your focus and energy. Name your kryptonite specifically so you can recognize it in real time. Block time on your calendar this week for yourself with the same commitment you give to client meetings or social obligations. The next time you are about to say yes to a request, pause for 24 hours before responding. Let it breathe before you commit. Notable Quote The more things you say no to, the more time you have to evaluate opportunities and find the yes that is actually for you.
The Roosters proved they've finally cracked the code on Penrith, beating them at their own game and stripping away the Panthers' aura in the process. Meanwhile the Broncos' capitulation against the Warriors has the panel debating whether Michael Maguire should blood his kids or make the senior players fix what they broke, and the Sharks are staring down a nightmare scenario if Braydon Trindall's shoulder keeps him out of finals. Liv Ogier recently completed the first ascent of Yellow Sun (5.14d), an extension to Tommy Caldwell’s Kryptonite at the Fortress of Solitude. As a former comp climber, her choice to project at one of Colorado’s most remote and challenging sport crags resulted in numerous days and nights of challenging conditions that are more often associated with alpinism than sport climbing. But the result of her efforts landed her among a very small and select group of women who have established first ascents of routes rated 5.14d. But first, your grumpy hosts grump about climbing. In this episode of the Ecomm Breakthrough podcast, host Josh Hadley tackles what he calls the "silent killer" of e-commerce businesses: inventory mismanagement. Drawing on his experience scaling brands to eight figures, Josh explains how poor inventory forecasting, ordering too much or too little, can devastate cash flow and lead to bankruptcy. He shares cautionary examples, practical frameworks, and key strategies, including SKU-level forecasting, maintaining 90-120 days of inventory, using pre-orders to validate demand, and having liquidation plans ready. Josh emphasizes that protecting cash flow is ultimately more critical than maintaining perfect stock availability.Bullet Points:Importance of effective inventory management in e-commerce.Consequences of poor inventory forecasting on cash flow and profitability.Risks associated with overstocking and understocking inventory.Strategies for accurate inventory forecasting at the SKU level.Guidelines for managing inventory levels and turnover ratios. The impact of temporary demand spikes on inventory planning.Necessity of having a liquidation plan for excess inventory.Benefits of using pre-order pages to gauge demand and improve cash flow.Emphasis on prioritizing cash flow over maintaining perfect stock levels.Lessons learned from cautionary examples of inventory mismanagement.Timestamps:00:00:00 Introduction: The Silent Killer of E-commerceThe host introduces the number one reason e-commerce brands fail and go bankrupt, which he calls the "silent killer."00:00:54 Inventory: The Kryptonite of E-commerceInventory is compared to Superman's Kryptonite, a silent threat that drains a business's power and can sneak up unexpectedly.00:02:00 The Dangers of Inventory ForecastingThe host explains that inventory forecasting is never 100% accurate and discusses the asymmetrical risks of ordering too much versus too little.00:04:48 The Compounding Problems of OverstockingOver-ordering inventory creates a chain reaction of problems, including cash flow issues, debt, compressed margins, and increased storage costs.00:08:01 The Manageable Downsides of UnderstockingOrdering too little inventory has downsides like lost sales, but also upsides like liquid cash and the opportunity to raise prices.00:10:53 Case Study: The Thrasio BankruptcyThe host uses the Amazon aggregator Thrasio as an example of how poor inventory processes can lead a major company to bankruptcy.00:12:55 Key Lessons from Thrasio's FailureLessons include not assuming demand spikes are permanent and the critical importance of forecasting at the individual SKU level.00:14:51 Four Major Inventory RulesThe host shares four core rules for inventory management, including when to kill SKUs and targeting 90-120 days of inventory.00:15:46 Understanding Inventory Turnover RatioA healthy inventory turnover ratio is explained, with a target of 4-6, depending on manufacturer lead times and supply chain.00:17:43 Managing Highly Seasonal ProductsA strategy for seasonal products is to under-forecast and plan to sell out just after the peak demand week.00:21:21 Forecasting for Trendy ProductsFor products based on trends, designs, or sayings, it's wise to forecast a 20% decline in sales year-over-year.00:23:07 The Importance of a Liquidation PlanBrands should build a liquidation plan and establish relationships with partners before they ever face an urgent need to sell excess stock.00:24:09 Managing Inventory for Product LaunchesThe risks of being overly optimistic with new product launches and the importance of placing smaller initial test orders are discussed.00:27:04 The Pre-Order Page StrategyUsing pre-order pages on Shopify is presented as a key strategy to gauge demand and improve cash flow significantly.00:29:00 Improving Your Cash Conversion CycleThe host emphasizes how pre-orders can create a negative cash conversion cycle, which is the key to scaling infinitely.00:31:04 Summary: 10 Key Takeaways for Inventory ManagementA distilled summary of the top ten rules and frameworks for effective inventory management to protect your business and cash flow.00:34:04The Ultimate Goal: Distributable CashThe primary metric for a business owner should be distributable cash, which indicates a healthy, profitable, and sustainable operation.Links and Mentions:Tools and Websites "Shopify": "00:27:00" "TikTok": "00:23:07" "Cash Conversion Cycle Podcast": "00:30:06" Key Concepts and Strategies "Pre-order Pages": "00:27:04" "Liquidation Plan": "00:23:07" "SKU Level Forecasting": "00:31:04" "Inventory Turnover Ratio": "00:16:48" Important Metrics "Distributable Cash": "00:34:04" Recommendations "Download Slides": "00:35:00"Transcript:Josh Hadley 00:00:00 Today I'm going to be talking about the silent killer that kills e-commerce brands when an e-commerce brand goes to die. This is primarily the number one reason as to why they go extinct, and why they potentially even go bankrupt. Today, I'm going to be diving into what that silent killer is and how to defend against it so that it doesn't become the silent killer for your business. Welcome to the Econ Breakthrough podcast. I'm Josh Hadley. I've scaled my own ecommerce brand from 0 to 8 figures, and I'm actively building towards nine figures in sales. This podcast is where I document that journey and share the systems, the strategies, and the lessons learned in real time so that you can learn what actually matters and scale your own business. Who am I? My name is Josh Hadley. First and foremost, I'm a man of faith. I'm a husband to a beautiful wife and a father of four children. I've been selling in the e-commerce space for over a decade, doing over $20 million in annual revenue and selling multi-millionaires on Amazon, Shopify and TikTok shop.Josh Hadley 00:00:54 And I am also the host of the number one business strategy podcast for ecommerce entrepreneurs, E-comm Breakthrough. Those of you who watched either the movie or read the comics of Superman recall that Kryptonite was the one thing that could bring Superman to his knees. He almost had invincible power, but when it came to Kryptonite, it was made him almost powerless. It didn't kill him outright. It slowly drained every power that he had. He couldn't fly. He couldn't use his strength. He couldn't see through walls or outrun a bullet. But he was still breathing. Still alive, but completely powerless. The most dangerous part is that he genuinely never saw it coming until it was too late. So how does that apply to business? And what is this silent killer that is the Kryptonite of ecommerce brands. Well, that is inventory. Inventory truly is e-commerce Kryptonite because it is the most dangerous aspect of scaling your business, because it is one of those things that can sneak up on you. And before it's too late, you have already put yourself in a really bad position and effectively made your brand powerless.Josh Hadley 00:02:00 So if we understand that inventory is the Kryptonite for ecommerce brands, what are we supposed to do about that? How do we defend against it? And how do we make sure that i...
In this episode of Two Mics, No Masking, Katie Scott and Jenna Goldstein explore the power of humour as more than entertainment. For many neurodivergent people, laughter can challenge assumptions, expose contradictions, and create connection in ways that words alone often can't.Together they reflect on how humour can cut through hierarchy, question arbitrary rules, and reveal truths that others might prefer to ignore. From everyday interactions to wider social systems, Katie and Jenna discuss why humour can be a powerful form of resistance—and why, sometimes, it's also a way of surviving.

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Cookie Lab, the inspiration strikes when Chris shares a story about a local Boy Scout troop that won a council award for creating "Kryptonite Jell-O." Taking the superhero concept to a whole new level, Jill skips the gelatin entirely and arrives at the lab with a spectacular alternative: Kryptonite Sugar Cookies designed to look exactly like glowing, crystal-filled geodes.Inside the EpisodeThe Radio Show Sabbatical: Jill dives into the surprising history of Superman's ultimate weakness. While most fans assume Kryptonite originated in the comic books, she reveals it was actually invented for the 1940s radio show. The writers created the glowing space rock as a quick plot device to keep the superhero unconscious for a week, giving the main voice actor a much-needed vacation. The Geode Illusion: Jill walks listeners through how she baked these stunning treats. By embedding vibrant, shattered rock candy into a classic, soft sugar cookie base, she successfully mimics the look of a natural rock formation. Chris joins Jill for the live taste test, exploring the intense texture contrast between the soft cookie dough and the high-stakes crunch of the candy crystals. The Earth-Science Twist: Jill breaks down the real-world science behind how geodes form in nature. She explains how volcanic gas bubbles, millions of years of mineral-rich groundwater seeping through rock, and slow cooling periods combine to create hidden crystal chambers—a process nature takes millions of years to perfect, but she recreated in a single afternoon. The TakeawayWhether baking for a sci-fi marathon, a geology convention, or just looking to out-do the local scout troop, Jill's recipe delivers major visual flair and scientific fascination. The verdict: liked it, didn't love it — an earnest, surprisingly un-cynical B-movie with a great cast, gorgeous practical aliens, and a message clearly aimed at kids it's frankly too dark to show them. Along the way: the Casablanca clue, Lobo done right, and a genuinely unhinged detour into Augustine vs. Aquinas. Cheers! We're celebrating summer by heading to the drive-in! Over the next two weeks, we're bringing you a double bill of blockbuster movies from last summer. Maybe you saw them, maybe you missed them, but we think you'll enjoy Last Summer's Drive-In Movie Double Feature! Grab a corndog, tune in your radio, or hang that weird staticky speaker in your window… our first feature is starting now! In 2022, after Discovery, Inc. and WarnerMedia merged to become Warner Bros. Discovery, CEO David Zaslav hired director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran to lead the newly-formed DC Studios, rebooting the divisive and ultimately financially unsuccessful DC Extended Universe, the so-called Snyderverse, into what is simply known as the DC Universe. The first official film in the new DCU slate, called "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters," (nod to last week) was a soft-reboot of the universe focusing on the same character Zach Snyder used in 2013 to start his universe: the Man of Steel himself, the Last Son of Krypton, Superman. With the vibe of "we now join the program already in progress," this overstuffed actioner sees David Corenswet don the tights as Kal-El / Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult shave his head as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Broshnan step behind the keyboard as intrepid reporter Lois Lane. Oh, and there's about a bajillion other people in this movie (plus one cute CGI dog and some robots) because let's just throw the spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. Imagine the pastabilities! Earth's yellow sun was shining, however, as the film scored the tenth highest-grossing release of 2025, was the highest-grossing superhero film of that year, and was the first DC-based film to surpass all Marvel films released within a single year since The Dark Knight in 2008 - when the first Iron Man hit screens. But with this film's spin-off/follow-up already in theaters and a sequel in production, is Superman still bulletproof or has this pocket universe already met its Kryptonite? The Justice League is up against Amanda Waller, her council of allies, and Taskforce X (a.k.a. The Suicide Squad) this week. Waller is a planner and wants to protect the world from the League by any means. Batman and the League must examine themselves and their crew carefully. "The Doomsday Sanction" has a confrontation between Batman and Waller that leaves them both shaken. She and her allies are creating means of stopping the League to prevent what happened with the Justice Lords. In this process, they created Doomsday. The Justice Lord's Superman lobotomized Doomsday. But he has regenerated and is set free by Dr. Milo. Doomsday interrupts the League's rescue mission and fights Superman. Batman stops the Kryptonite nuclear bomb and Superman traps Doomsday in lava. The League sends him to the Phantom Zone. Batman is still leery of what the League can do. "Taskforce X" is Waller's Suicide Squad. All the members except for Flag are criminals freed from death row. They are forced into five years of service with an explosive implanted in their heads. Flag, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, the Clock King, and Plastique are tasked with getting abord the Watchtower. Once there, they are to blow the reactor to cause confusion and steal the Annihilator. The Clock King's plan goes well, until the Taskforce reaches the bridge level. Shining Knight, Vigilante, and Atom Smasher put up a fight that slows them down. Martian Manhunter almost has them, until Plastique threatens an unconscious Atom Smasher with a bomb in his mouth. Captain Atom helps but the Taskforce, minus Plastique, escape. They deliver the Annihilator to Waller. We all have weaknesses. Nations, as well, have witnesses. When the Almighty sought to give the Torah to the Jewish people at Sinai, He first offered it to all the nations. When they asked what was included in it, God revealed to them how the Torah disallowed that particular weakness that that particular Nation had. What is the Jewish weakness? What is our kryptonite? When we study the story of Korach we find the answer. Korach launched a rebellion against Moshe and Aaron by specifically trying to exploit the innate Jewish weakness.– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –DONATE: Please consider supporting the podcasts by making a donation to help fund our Jewish outreach and educational efforts at https://www.torchweb.org/support.php. Supergirl flies back to the big screen this summer (with a cameo from her cousin from Metropolis), and to celebrate we present an epic radio adventure of the Man of Steel. From the spring and summer of 1947, it's "Superman vs. Kryptonite," a story that begins when an old enemy of Superman's comes into possession of the hero's Achilles heel. We'll hear the first five parts of the story - episodes that originally aired on Mutual between May 14 and May 20, 1947.
The 2028 U.S. presidential election is just over two years away — which means we already have to start talking about it. In a special LIVE taping of 'We're Not Kidding' in New York City, Mehdi was joined by author, political commentator, and host of the 'Fast Politics' podcast Molly Jong-Fast, where they sought to answer the one burning question of every politics (and comic book) nerd: Which of the Democratic presidential hopefuls has the greatest superpower – and what is their 'Kryptonite' that could tank their candidacy? Together, they break down Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's celebrity status, who the sleeper hit of the Democratic primary could be, and discuss why, if she runs, Kamala Harris will probably lose…again. "When you lose, shouldn't you just go away?" Mehdi asks. "That's why I think [Kamala Harris] is not going to run again," Molly says. They also take questions from the live audience in New York on whether social media is to blame for young people being drawn in by right-wing pundits like Tucker Carlson, why the media rarely covers labor issues, and whether Trump has an exit strategy in Iran (spoiler: he doesn't). The two also discuss: The Jan. 6 rioters' billion-dollar payout from the Trump administration. Marco Rubio and JD Vance's 'Apprentice'-style tryout for Trump's backing in 2028. How much right-wing political content is actually astroturfed. This episode was co-produced by On Air Fest and On Air Presents as part of their yearlong programming.
