Writer/director Ari Aster's Eddington is now available to watch on HBO Max. We caught it in theaters back in July, and we'll tell you all about our experience. We knew after Beau Is Afraid (2023) that we were in for a wild ride, and we were correct in that assumption. Only a trickster provocateur like Ari Aster would have the gall to make a 150-minute set during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic! For many people, the trauma of that period is too soon, but not for the Lodgecast. The movie features an excellent cast led by Joaquin Phoenix as a sheriff in small town Eddington, New Mexico, along with Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone. Put your masks on and stay six feet apart as you listen to our take on Ari Aster's Eddington!

Actor and writer Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Licorice Pizza, New Girl) and actor, writer, filmmaker, and "everyone's sexual awakening", Lake Bell (Bless This Mess, In a World, Harley Quinn) join Jameela for a gloriously unfiltered session of tiny humiliations and lifelong cringes.Mary Elizabeth shares the on set moment a costumer quietly asked if she'd braided her pubic hair, plus the C section experience where she tried to keep everyone comfortable by joking about the smell of her own burning flesh. Lake relives the day she introduced herself to Brad Pitt in a way that could not have landed worse, along with the colonoscopy story that still makes her sweat with embarrassment.Together they unravel convertible rage spirals, postpartum clothing fails, and the universal effort to look put together while feeling anything but.Catch Mary Elizabeth Ellis in the Netflix series Man on the Inside and Lake Bell in The Chair Company on HBO Max.Jameela's Substack is A Low Desire To Please, you can also find her on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Our consulting producer is Colin Anderson.Wrong Turns was created and produced by Jameela Jamil and Stewart Bailey.Listen to Wrong Turns on Amazon Music or wherever you find your podcasts. Show Notes What if Hamlet, but lions. We watched the 1994 classic The Lion King and enjoyed the emotions inherently available in animated faces that simply cannot be duplicated in “live action.” Elton John thought the movie was ruined because his beautiful song was sung by a meerkat, but joke's on him, it was a genius move. Sometimes you gotta have a creepy little guy sing to the main characters to get them to fall in love. Congress approves Epstein files release, new Diddy charges, Tom Cruise on the attack, Georgia coed sends temperatures soaring, in search of a Hooters vest, and the Italian Kardashian gets busted. Register to win tickets to Michigan vs OSU right here thanks to Hall Financial. Get some merch today before it flies off the shelf. ML Soul of Detroit has merch available as well. Hooters is basically dead in Michigan. We call the last surviving one in Saginaw in search of Drew's favorite vest. The US House of Representatives and Senate voted to release “all” the Epstein files. Louisianna Rep. Clay Higgins is the only person to vote against releasing the files. Hmmmmm. Donald Trump and Saudi Arabian Prince MBS hooked up today at the White House. There is a brand new criminal investigation against Diddy. We roll through multiple creepy moments from Sean Combs. Harley Summer (HarleyisBae) is the new ‘it girl' after the television caught a few seconds of her boobs at a Georgia football game. Her TikTok is dedicated to those boobies. More and more info is coming out about would-be-Trump-assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks. Radiohead is touring once again. Sports: Dan Wetzel popped up on ML Soul of Detroit today. Sorry Drew… but James Franklin is the new coach of Virginia Tech football. The Detroit Lions are letting Drew down. The Detroit Pistons are rolling along. Cloudflare had an issue today and knocked a bunch of websites (including ours) down. Shedeur Sanders had his house burglarized during his NFL debut. Some Real Housewives were also burgled. Scientology: Danny Masterson is whining from prison. Scientology is on the down low recently. Suri Cruise is now Suri Noelle. Tom Cruise is bashing Nicole Kidman. Trudi has finally watched the Mission Impossible movies. Jeff Bezos is funding the Met Gala. He's also renovating a home for Lauren Sanchez. Reminder that Adolf Hitler had a tiny pee pee. Elon Musk takes a shot at back at Billie Eilish. Chiara Ferragni is the Kim Kardashian of Italy. Now she's in hot water. Charlie Saunders is a gross OnlyFans creator and it cost her dad his job for some reason. Kim Kardashian wants to be a lawyer so bad, but never will. We've received ANOTHER dash cam of an accident while listening to our program. Some people are saying there may be a warrant out for the arrest of Stuttering John Melendez. Olivia Nuzzi is finally telling her side of the story. She famously had a platonic affair with RFK Jr. Her ex points out that she also nailed the infamous Gov. Mark Sanford. Rap music is falling hard off the charts. “Principled individual” Nicki Minaj is speaking to the UN. Drew has found John Lennon music he's never heard before. There is a new John and Yoko documentary out on HBO Max. Two-time Academy Award®-winning composer Ludwig Göransson and Executive Music Producer Serena Göransson join us to discuss the powerful use of music in Ryan Coogler's “Sinners,” recently nominated for six 2026 GRAMMY® Awards. In this conversation with music journalist Jon Burlingame, the Göranssons share how integral music was to the film's storytelling — and how their close collaboration with Coogler shaped the creative process from start to finish.“Serena and I were there, on the dub stage, almost every day… [Director] Ryan [Coogler] is an incredible collaborator. He wants to hear ideas… take it in, and make difficult decisions. He really wanted this to be such an immersive experience... That's why he really spent time on the mix, like panning things around, making it create an experience… Sometimes I had to pinch myself and think to myself, Ryan and I, we've been doing this since USC, and our first studio film. We were young and we had a great experience. But at the same time, when you get started, people always think, oh, these guys don't know what they're doing. And there's a lot of things that you have to prove. And now we're at this stage in our professional careers where we are experienced and also have more responsibilities and can really create in a different way… and try to push the envelope as much as we can.”—Ludwig Göransson, Composer, “Sinners”Be sure to check out “Sinners,” now streaming on HBO Max, in Dolby Vision® and Dolby Atmos®. The HBO Original documentary ONE TO ONE: JOHN & YOKO, directed by Academy Award® winner Kevin Macdonald (HBO's "One Day in September"), debuts FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14 (8:00-9:45p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. The film screened to critical acclaim at multiple film festivals including Venice, Telluride, and Sundance.A rare and revelatory inside look at John Lennon and Yoko Ono's first year in New York City in the early 1970s, ONE TO ONE: JOHN & YOKO delivers an immersive, cinematic experience that brings to life a chapter of explosive creativity and political activism in their lives.By 1971, John and Yoko had just arrived in the United States. They lived in a tiny apartment in Greenwich Village and watched hours of American television. The film integrates a riotous mélange of television to conjure the era through what the two would have been seeing on the screen - the Vietnam War, "The Price is Right," President Richard Nixon, Coca-Cola ads, Walter Cronkite, and "The Waltons." As they experience a year of love and transformation in the U.S., the couple begins to change their approach to protest. This ultimately led to the "One to One" benefit concert, which they organized after seeing Geraldo Rivera's exposé on child neglect and abuse at the Willowbrook State School. On August 30, 1972, John performed at the "One to One" benefit concert at Madison Square Garden - his only full-length show after leaving The Beatles. Footage of this electrifying performance from John and Yoko along with The Elephant's Memory Band had been restored for the documentary and is interwoven throughout the film along with other never-before-seen material.Featuring music newly remixed and produced by Sean Ono Lennon, the documentary takes that legendary musical event and uses it as the starting point to explore 18 defining months in the lives of John and Yoko. Filmed in a meticulously faithful reproduction of the duo's New York City apartment, ONE TO ONE: JOHN & YOKO offers a bold new take on a seminal time in the lives of two iconic artists and how their work continues to resonate today.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Filmed in a meticulously faithful reproduction of the duo's New York City apartment, ONE TO ONE: JOHN & YOKO offers a bold new take on a seminal time in the lives of two iconic artists and how their work continues to resonate today.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

In this podcast episode, we delve into the heartbreaking 2012 disappearance of 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and her 8-year-old cousin Elizabeth Collins from Evansdale, Iowa, a small, tight-knit community. On July 13, the girls, who were inseparable, vanished while biking near Meyers Lake. Their abandoned bikes and Elizabeth's purse were soon discovered, triggering a massive search involving local police, the FBI, and volunteers. Despite draining the 33-acre lake and canvassing the area, no trace of the girls was found initially. The case, one of only 15 double child abductions in the U.S. from 1970 to 2012, garnered widespread media coverage. Suspicion briefly fell on Lyric's parents, Dan and Misty, due to their drug-related criminal past and initial reluctance to cooperate fully, including Dan's failed polygraph test (later passed when sober). This focus created tension with Elizabeth's parents and may have slowed the investigation. Five months later, on December 5, 2012, hunters found the girls' remains 25 miles away in Seven Bridges Wildlife Park, confirming a tragic end. The case, believed to involve sexually motivated crimes, remains unsolved. The episode notes a similar 2013 abduction in Dayton, Iowa, 100 miles away, where a 12-year-old's escape provided critical clues, to be explored in part two. Rewards totaling $200,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest or conviction. The host recommends the HBO Max series Taken Together: Who Killed Lyric and Elizabeth? for visuals but warns of sensitive content involving child crimes. Sources: Iowa Cold Cases, Inc. Werner Herzog deals in ecstatic truths. But are they truthful enough to deal with the brutal legacy of slavery and colonialism? We discuss COBRA VERDE, Herzog's last collaboration with Klaus Kinski, a movie about the slave trade and the little freaks who kept it running. Topics include: producing a shot with thousands of extras, Herzog and history, and, weirdly, Michael Haneke. Watch the movie here or on Criterion, who are doing a big Herzog retrospective right now. Here is an article about the movie that was interesting that I dont necessarily 100% agree with. Matt's rec. Corbin's rec is in a weird release vortex right now but you'll be able to see it soon. Ryder recommends a food. Our next episode is about EDDINGTON. You can watch it on HBOMax if you're so inclined. Have a wonderful week!
In the latest episode of the Need Some Introduction podcast, host Victor and co-host Sona delve into the third episode of the Apple TV series 'Pluribus,' titled 'Grenade.' They discuss Carol's struggles with isolation and control in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone except her is part of a hive mind. The episode breaks down Carol's interactions with other characters, her growing frustration, and her plans to leverage her newfound understanding of the rules governing this new world. Alongside, the hosts touch on various other series and movies, including 'One Battle After Another,' 'Edington,' and 'Poker Face.' The conversation also explores broader themes of socialism, human connection, and the disparities between the rich and the poor. Then Victor and special guest, Lucy, who is making her first appearance on the podcast, discuss a wide array of television shows and movies. They dive into the highs and lows of 'Alien Earth,' disappointed by its promising start but unsatisfying finish before focusing on 'Down Cemetery Lane,' Mick Heron's adaptation for TV, which has captured their interest more than the latest season of 'Slow Horses.' They talk in-depth about the unique blend of British humor and drama, shedding light on cultural nuances and discussing standout characters portrayed by Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson. Finally, in recommendations, they discuss Scorsese rewatches, shout-out 'Good Boy,' a low-budget horror movie praised for its creativity and 'Sorry, Baby,' a touching film now available on HBO Max. mailto:needssomeintroduction@gmail.com 00:00 Introduction and Podcast Overview 00:33 Movie Recommendations and Reviews 02:22 TV Show Updates and Cancellations 05:35 Upcoming Podcast Episodes and Discussions 06:22 New Shows to Watch 12:31 Harlan Coben Adaptations 19:27 Down Cemetery Road Review 25:20 Pluribus Episode Breakdown 36:06 Cloudy Skies and Missed Opportunities 38:39 Isolation and Personal Loss 41:18 Comfort Shows and Personal Reflections 42:42 A Perfect Yet Flawed World 53:20 The Grenade and Realizations 01:04:17 Speculations and Future Directions 01:10:18 Introduction and Guest Welcome 01:10:35 Discussing 'Alien: Earth' Series 01:12:21 Reviewing 'Down Cemetery Lane' 01:13:12 Comparing 'Down Cemetery Lane' and 'Slow Horses' 01:14:56 Character Analysis: Ruth Wilson and Emma Thompson 01:23:20 Visual Style and Cinematic Risks 01:28:25 Mistrust in Government and Bureaucracy 01:29:24 British Cultural Perceptions 01:30:39 Humor and Cultural References in the Show 01:36:04 Supporting Characters and Their Impact 01:37:38 Recent TV Shows and Movies Discussion 01:40:53 Low Budget Films with High Impact 01:42:15 Final Recommendations and Farewell
