Riddle me this, Shepard. This week, we're taking you do the late 2000s with a pair of Unreal Engine 3 classics. First up, Mass Effect, BioWare's groundbreaking sci-fi epic. It's a game with its fair share of issues, but narrative stands strong despite some of the gameplay archaisms. After that, Batman: Arkham Asylum takes us back to the glory days of superhero games as the Dark Knight Detective takes combat and stealth to a new level in a Metroidvania-styled island taken over by the Joker. We've also got some big frustrations with Ubisoft's game cancellations. Check out the show on BlueSky @MarkersOnTheMap.
In a desperate attempt to end the chaos in Arkham, the Investigators head to an old cottage outside the city limits in hopes of locating the Queen of the Night. Can they survive the horrors they find?

Netflix has made one of the biggest moves in entertainment history, announcing a proposed $82.7 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming and studio division, including Warner Bros. Games. If approved, this deal would put major gaming franchises under Netflix's control, including Mortal Kombat, Hogwarts Legacy, and the Batman: Arkham series. In My Xbox And Me Podcast #545, we break down what this could actually mean for gamers, not just investors. We discuss: What Netflix owning Warner Bros. Games means for console players The future of major IPs like Arkham, Mortal Kombat, and Hogwarts Legacy Whether Netflix could push games toward subscriptions or exclusivity How this impacts Xbox, PlayStation, and third-party studios If this deal strengthens or weakens the future of big-budget games With Netflix already struggling to find its place in gaming, this potential acquisition raises serious questions about ownership, preservation, monetisation, and creative freedom in the games industry. If you care about Xbox, AAA game franchises, and how corporate decisions shape the games we play, this episode is essential listening. In this episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast, Professor Nick Giordano sits down with Zeek Arkham to dissect the radical transformation of New York City under a Mayor Mamdani administration. They examine how socialist policies, a decline law enforcement morale, and blind party loyalty will drive the city toward chaos. From the erosion of education standards to the growing exodus of residents, Professor Giordano and Arkham reveal how ideology is replacing common sense and what it means for the future of urban America. Episode Highlights: Zeek Arkham and Professor Giordano expose how Mamdani's socialist agenda threatens NYC's safety, economy, and schools. Discussion on voter loyalty and the "vote blue no matter who" mentality that enables poor leadership. How the collapse of law enforcement morale and the removal of gifted programs will accelerate the city's decline.
This is Arkham's strongest depiction of the Bat.

In this, the last spooky season episode for the year, we go into the mind of HP Lovecraft and the shared universe he created. A man touched by his family's brushes with both greatness and madness, he was never a huge success in his lifetime and held horrible, racist views that he supported with pseudoscience like eugenics. But as troubled and troubling as he was and is, the Mythos is one of the larger shared universes in fiction. A place where humanity is just a short sad blip on existence and the universe at large just does not care and will wipe us out with relative ease. This universe has provided ideas and fodder for so many writers who have added their own thoughts and ideas to the mix. We cover his Great Old Ones, his deities, his races he created, villains, the more or less human element in his stories and so much more. So come with us, take a stroll across the Plateau of Leng, visit the campus Library at Miskatonic University in Arkham Massachussets and visit Shadow-haunted Innsmouth in this oh so strange episode of the Family Plot Podcast.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.

Horror Hill: A Horror Anthology and Scary Stories Series Podcast
A farmer's field. A fallen star. And a colour no human eye was meant to see. In this haunting descent into cosmic horror, host Erik Peabody invites you to return to the hills of Arkham, where something unnatural seeps into the soil — unseen, unknowable, and utterly unstoppable. What begins as a curiosity from the heavens soon festers into terror beyond reason, twisting nature, faith, and sanity itself. From the mind of H.P. Lovecraft, tonight's tale is a masterwork of creeping dread and existential despair — a reminder that the universe does not love us, but may just be indifferent. Day 13 – Episode 163: Session 9 (2001)On Day 13 of The Conner & Smith Show's 31 Days of Halloween, I'm flying solo with one of the creepiest psychological horror films of the early 2000s - Session 9 (2001). This slow-burn nightmare follows an asbestos cleanup crew working in an abandoned mental hospital, where paranoia and dread begin to consume them all. What makes it even more chilling? It was actually filmed inside the real Danvers State Mental Hospital in Massachusetts - one of the most infamous asylums in American history and the rumored inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft's “Arkham.”I talk about how Session 9 builds its terror through atmosphere, sound, and suggestion - and why its decaying setting might be the scariest character of all.Support The Conner & Smith Show on Patreon here:https://www.patreon.com/ConnerandSmith?utm_campaign=creatorshare_fan

Tonight we unseal the twelfth vault in our 31 Nights of Lovecraft with The Unnamable — where a crumbling house in Arkham becomes the mouth of something memory cannot name. Two men speak of logic and legend beneath a tombstone's shadow, but the night listens differently. The town sleeps, but the attic does not. It stirs with shifting limbs and forgotten shapes, and beneath the floorboards, something unspoken begins to rise.

Fallout Season 2 leans into New Vegas energy and looks ready to give Walton Goggins even more to chew on. Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight plays like a full Arkham style experience in a lighter package. World of Warcraft Midnight lands with a striking Silvermoon set piece and a clear villain in Zalatath while sparking questions about the light aligned reinforcements. Midnight launches with three raids, eight dungeons, delves, and a prey system that targets you in the open world for dynamic encounters. Housing is fully free form with place anywhere decoration, neighborhood vibes, and recipes scattered across old zones and dungeons, which brings back legacy professions and exploration. Built in raid tools and UI polish aim to raise the floor for everyone, not just add on users. Brand owned shows like BlizzCon deliver clarity, atmosphere, and community rituals. Trade shows give reach and variety but can dilute focus. Memorable Quotes “Hollow Knight Silksong got a release date. I am beyond excited.” “Lego Batman is straight up a new Arkham game. Who knew that would be the most complete Batman experience.” “Lor'themar finally got his moment to be the badass I always wanted him to be.” “Three raids at launch is a return to a cadence that actually fits how people play now.” “Housing should pull you back into old Azeroth and make those zones feel alive again.” Call to Action Enjoyed the episode?
