A great discussion about Christian's adventure on the show The Selection as well as his history of extreme events and training. I've been a fan of this man for some time now ever since I saw him on the show. I had prepared a bunch of questions to help ease us along and get into the mindset of what it's like to walk the path of the warrior but in listening to his stories he just exemplifies it by the way he is in life. I am not a victim, I'm a fighter. I have completed over 100 races of marathon distance or farther, racing over volcanoes, across deserts, and through tropical jungles and infested swamps, all over the world. I've earned my 50-mile bib at World's Toughest Mudder on CBS, took a beating on American Ninja Warrior on NBC, and survived Hell as a finisher on THE SELECTION: Special Operations Experiment, on History Channel. I have successfully completed the Fuego Y Agua 100K Trail Ultramarathon in Nicaragua more times (3) than anyone else in the history of the race. I'll never be a one-trick pony. In my early years, I missed a lot of potentially great experiences because I thought I was “too cool” to do anything but beach sports. Now, I want to try everything and do anything healthy and productive that challenges my body, mind, and spirit thoroughly. My motto is Live for a Living. I strive for it every day. 2017 History Channel reality documentary series, The Selection: Special Operations Experiment. 2017 NBC American Ninja Warrior participant. 2016 World's Toughest Mudder, 50 miles & 170 obstacles completed in under 24 hours. 2015 Survival Run Australia – Queensland, Australia. 2015 Monsters Inside Me, Season 6, Episode 2, on Discovery's Animal Planet. Christian Griffith joins the podcast as our fourth male guest. He is currently on the road in Colorado running across the country on a mission called Run2Heal. He is changing the narratives around child sexual abuse running and speaking across the country. Christian is a survivor himself of child sexual abuse from both his mother and men. During the episode, Christian goes into the staggering numbers of those that are sexually abused as children. I have known Christian since 2012 or 2013 as he was one of the co-founders of Obstacle Racing Media and we have traveled to various countries together for races. We have worked together on Fuego y Agua so when he wrote about his abuse I was shocked to find out this part of his story. On the outside, he was what most would consider a total bro, but on the inside, his demons were eating him alive. He talks about all of this on the podcast. How mile after mile of his transatlantic run he is slowly reshaping his own story, helping reshape the conversation of child sexual abuse, and trying to make a better world for his newborn daughter to grow up in. This is a powerful episode and might be a trigger for some people who have experienced abuse in their past. A huge thank you to Christian for opening up and being so honest about his journey, his story, and check out the links below to learn more about Run2Heal and his mission. Christian Griffith is the Founder of Live for a Living and an ultra-marathon athlete. Christian has completed over 100 races of marathon distance or farther, racing all across the world: over volcanoes, across deserts, through tropical jungles, and infested swamps. He’s earned his 50-mile bib at the World's Toughest Mudder on CBS, took a beating on American Ninja Warrior on NBC, and survived Hell as a finisher on the History Channel's THE SELECTION: a Special Operations Experiment. He’s successfully completed a 100K trail-running Ultramarathon in Nicaragua more times (3) than anyone else in the history of the race. As a victim of secual abuse at a young age, Christian is taking a stand to prevent and treat the one in three girls and one in six boys who are sexually abused before the age of 18. To do this, he’s embarking on his latest adventure, Run2Heal - a 3000 mile run leaving New York City on March 19th and arriving in San Francisco 5 months later with the goal of raising 1 million dollars for the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
