Dr. Laura welcomes Saijal Patel, Founder and CEO of Saij Wealth Consulting, to a conversation about finance and financial literacy, especially in regards to women. Saijal promotes empowering women's financial independence and security. She has over two decades of experience in the financial industry in both North America and Asia to draw upon. Saijal's drive comes from seeing the unique challenges women face in managing personal finances and understanding how money works. Saijal and Dr. Laura address the stigma that surrounds talking about money and the belief that money causes problems. Saijal firmly believes it's the values people hold that manifest through money and that money itself is neither good nor bad. She notes that financial education and wellness address voter literacy through empowerment and understanding of governments' financial decisions, and also tackle one of the greatest sources of stress for people. Saijal and Dr. Laura examine what Saijal's course offers, the lack of good money mentorship growing up, and how to view and visualize abundance in our lives.“I have found with women that I'm educating, that for some reason society has told them and they have bought into this belief that ‘I need to be confident. I need to have confidence before I jump in and learn these things'. And that's the difference [that] is stopping so many women from building the skills because it's not confidence that they need. They need competence. Right? Competence actually leads to confidence.” Saijal PatelAbout Saijal Patel:Saijal Patel is the Founder and CEO of Saij Wealth Consulting, a financial consultancy and education platform dedicated to empowering women's financial independence and security. With over two decades of experience in the financial industry across North America and Asia, she holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and has served in roles as a financial strategist and analyst.Saijal is the renowned creator and host of Strictly Money, Canada's sole national personal finance program. The Perils of Perfectionism in Work and Life

Dr. Laura addresses perfectionism in this episode, looking into what perfectionism truly is and how it's detrimental to our well-being. The pursuit of perfection slows us down and interferes with us being our best, most innovative selves. Few situations call for absolute perfection, Dr. Laura notes, and she examines how the single-minded drive to be perfect blocks our creativity and leads to burnout. One method for combating perfectionism is the 80/20 rule, which Dr. Laura explains is learning to be satisfied with getting a project to 80%, which is very good, and not spending the extra 20% to fight for perfection. Dr. Laura's advice focuses on how to retrain ourselves from striving for perfection, how we can practice self-compassion, what practical steps we can take, and how to avoid letting perfectionism impact our relationships. She approaches the subject from a personal perspective, sharing her own journey through perfectionism and how she found success without being perfect.“I love this quote by Sheryl Sandberg in that done is better than perfect. And I agree, it's about execution. It's about getting things done and doing things well. But getting things done perfectly will lead you to not get things done, period.” Dr. LauraAbout Dr. Laura:Dr. Laura Hambley Lovett is a work and career psychologist and thought leader on the evolution of work. Men account for 75 to 80% of deaths by suicide and it's the need for resources to tend to this mental health crisis that Dr. John Ogrodniczuk and Dr. Laura discuss. Dr. Ogrodniczuk explains some of the reasons for the high rates of death by suicide among men and the lack of resources specifically targeting men. He and Dr. Laura explore what is needed to assist in dealing with the pressures of life and how that need is addressed by HeadsUpGuys. Featuring real-life stories of depression and how men across the globe have found help as well as self-checks. HeadsUpGuys.org is meeting the mental health needs of men globally as a free online resource, including a search engine for therapists. This episode sheds light on a mental health crisis that is not given enough attention and offers resources to deal with depression.“We have the world's largest collection of real guys sharing their stories of what it was like to be depressed and very importantly, what helped them recover. And so that is a really important thing because when you're experiencing something like depression or anxiety, it's a really isolating experience. You feel so alone. You feel people don't get you. They don't understand you. And thus there's no one to help you. So when there's a lot of other guys out there that have been through the same thing, that's in a way very comforting.” Dr. John OgrodniczukAbout Dr. John Ogrodniczuk:Dr. John Ogrodniczuk is a Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the UBC Psychotherapy Program, one of North America's largest medically based psychotherapy training programs.  His research program focuses on a variety of psychotherapies and patient populations, with a particular focus on personality disorders and men's mental health. Dr. Ogrodniczuk has held several grants to support his research, which has led to over 300 scientific publications. How to Avoid Working for a Toxic Boss Before Accepting the Job

Dr. Laura digs deeper into the subject of toxic bosses in this episode, discussing how to identify a potentially toxic boss before you start working for one. Toxic bosses are unfortunately prevalent, with a 2023 survey finding that 87% of professionals have had at least one toxic boss in their careers. But there are warning signs, and Dr. Laura lists some, highlighting what to look for and how to get the answers we need before joining a toxic workplace. One of the key ways to investigate a boss before working for them is through mutual connections, especially on LinkedIn. Dr. Laura explains the value of maintaining connections and how to broach the subject of a boss with former or current employees. She breaks down how to decipher the answers we receive, identifying the warning signs of a toxic boss. What is being said? What isn't being said? There are things to look for in the interview, as well. The boss isn't just interviewing us, we're interviewing them! Dr. Laura names some warning behaviors that can be seen even in those initial conversations. Not every boss will be toxic and not every challenging workplace has a toxic boss leading it, but this episode gives sound insight into spotting the red flags of a toxic boss before we sign up to work with them. “Are people burnt out? Asking those questions can go a long way. And if you hear the answer is yes, it is a demanding place and people are exhausted and burnt out, that's somewhere that you don't want to be. That doesn't mean you don't want to be in a challenging, invigorating, busy workplace. And of course, there'll be periods where you're going to be working hard. But is it a constant strain? Is it under-resourced? And [are] people expected to be on call 24/7? [That] is a recipe for burnout.” Dr. LauraAbout Dr. Laura:Dr. Laura Hambley Lovett is a work and career psychologist and thought leader on the evolution of work. Dr. Laura welcomes Cecile Peterkin to the podcast to talk about imposter syndrome. Cecile is a chief transformation strategist and founder of the Leadership Coaching Centre, with 22 years of expertise as a confidence coach and mentor to her credit. Together, Cecile and Dr. Laura explore where imposter syndrome comes from and why it's often more prevalent in girls and women. They explore building confidence and learning to assert yourself in situations where your instinct says to keep quiet. Cecile credits much of her inspiration and success to her late father, and she talks about how the way she was raised enforced her sense of having a voice that should be heard. Imposter syndrome, she says, is more common among women because they are conditioned and nurtured in ways that suggest domesticity and quietude. While this is changing with new generations, there is a lot that women, and anyone, can learn about holding space for themselves and demanding to be heard. Cecile and Dr. Laura explore confidence, how to build it, and why it's so key to not just career success but to emotional well-being.“From my experience in a lot of these board meetings, men tend to talk over women because, again, women don't project themselves to be heard. … And I think, too, that some girls are raised not to be loud. … If a man is talking and you want to speak and you have something to say, there's no reason why you [can't say], could you be quiet for a few minutes so I can be heard? Because to me, you get more respect that way than not saying anything…” Cecile PeterkinWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Cecile Peterkin:Cecile Peterkin is the Founder & Chief Transformation Strategist at the Leadership Coaching Centre. Dr. Laura is joined by Pamela Barnum, a former undercover police officer and federal prosecutor who is also a keynote speaker, to talk about building trust in organizations. Pamela's background in undercover work taught her how to build trust with difficult drug dealers, and her work as a prosecutor gave her further insight into building trust. As a body language expert and also a corporate negotiator, Pamela shares a lifetime of knowledge on the importance of trust and how to cultivate and maintain it. Pamela explains all her years of building trust in different careers as being able to read people and to show up in a way that's trustworthy and charismatic. She discusses how trust is key to convincing people to buy into or accept whatever messaging is being presented and that it exists at the crossroads of confidence and empathy. She and Dr. Laura explore how leaders can instill a culture of trust in their organizations and talk about nonverbal cues and eye contact in cultural contexts. There is a sense of influence that goes along with cultivating trust, and Pamela's experience helps convey the importance of modelling the behaviors we want to be returned to us. The lessons are profound and valuable in any setting. “You know, we want to be transparent, but sometimes there are things that the C-suite is telling the leadership team that can't be shared with everyone yet, or isn't really worked out all the way. So being transparent can be challenging, but I encourage people to be as transparent as possible with the information that they're permitted to share, and share it in a way that lands with people so that they understand, they know what's going to be happening, they know what the end goal is, and they have some steps to get there.” Pamela BarnumWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Pamela Barnum:Imagine what it would be like to live as a different person with a different name, identity, and background. She learned real-world techniques for building trust and interpreting body language. When Pamela graduated from law school, she left policing and accepted a position as a federal prosecuting attorney. She spent countless hours in the courtroom, perfecting her proficiency as a trust strategist and body language expert. Following a successful 20-year career in the criminal justice system, Pamela studied corporate negotiations in graduate school. Now, she shares her expertise with others, teaching them how to improve their communication skills to increase trust inside corporations, associations, and law enforcement agencies. As a nonverbal communication expert and trust strategist, Pamela delivers techniques once thought of as a “secret second language” that participants can begin using immediately. Take decades of experience, including working deep undercover in narcotics, followed by a rewarding legal career, and you get real-world strategies that help participants crack the code on trust and improve professional relationships using proven field-tested techniques.Pamela shares her experience, research, and expertise with humor, candor, and energy, blending actionable strategies with memorable stories. She is also a featured expert and contributor in print media, radio and television news programs in Canada and the United States. Helping out a couple girls stranded in the snow storm. In 2 parts, Based on a post by m storyman x. Listen to the ► Podcast at Connected. This sucked. I mean it sucked ass! Traveling goes with the job, and that's fine, but when the weather doesn't cooperate it makes any trip a pain. Wind, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, and yes, even blizzards are part of the job. I've been stranded in truck stops in the Rockies and the Appalachians but never would I have expected to be snowed in on a Virginia interstate! But here I was. If I'd have gotten started just an hour, one stinking hour, sooner, I'd have been past the wreck that stopped traffic. It was quite literally the perfect storm. With snow coming down at nearly three inches per hour, the snow was piling up quickly. With traffic at a stand still, the plows were helpless to clear the road. With the snow piling up, the cars were going to be buried. Trucks without chains were going to be stuck. Nothing was going to move until the storm blew itself out and they could start digging cars out one at a time. The reports showed a fifty mile jam of stuck cars and trucks, and I was five miles from the closest exit. Already a lot of cars were running out of gas, their occupants unprepared for being stranded, having to run their engines to stay warm.I wasn't in that category. I knew not to run continuously to stay warm, just occasionally if I needed it. Most of my heat came from my special made emergency candles. A little shop in Colorado makes them. Six wicks in a small quart size can capable of burning for a full twenty-four hours. I had three. I hoped I wouldn't need them all. One could keep the inside of my suburban above freezing as long as it was above zero outside. With my sleeping bag, blanket, emergency food and water, I was good for three days if need be. I hoped it wouldn't need to be that long.I'd long since rearranged my cargo to give me a space the full length of the rear for me to lay down. I'd pulled out the backpack air mattress and let it inflate itself. Night had fallen so there was no point in sitting in the driver's seat waiting. Nothing was moving tonight. I stripped down to my briefs, actually pulling on a fresh pair, pulled on my knit hat and slipped into my winter weight down mummy bag. With the emergency candle lit, there was nothing to do but wait, and I could do that asleep!I woke up to pounding on my window. I rubbed sleep from my eyes. "Yeah yeah! Just a second!" I snapped loudly. I looked at my watch. Just past midnight. No way they were moving cars yet. I unzipped and crawled out of my nice warm bag. I heard the pounding again, passenger side window. I crawled into the passenger seat and cracked the door open, the electric windows not working with the ignition off. "Yeah?" I grunted."Oh thank goodness. We saw light and hoped you still had gas!" a snowy looking young woman said, clearly shivering."I do, but I'm not running my engine.""We ran out about two hours ago. We're both frozen! Can you at least let us in to warm up?"I scowled. I was already getting cold and leaving the door open any longer was just going to make it worse. At least it was warmer in here. Maybe forty or so. "Yeah. Come on. Get in!" I said, letting the door open further as I let go and started climbing into the back again. The door pulled wide open, and I could feel the cold wind and blowing snow fly into the truck and try to freeze my ass. By the time I got into the back, two young women had climbed in and pulled the door closed, the two of them trying to share the single seat."Oh my God!" The second woman shivered. "So cold!""Alright. One of you get in the driver's seat. I'll run the engine for ten minutes," I said starting to crawl back out of my bag."Just ten minutes?" one of them asked."Just ten minutes. It'll be enough if you do what I say. So who's moving?""I will," the one who climbed in first said.I waited for her to clumsily climb over the console, her long bare legs revealing three facts. One, they weren't dressed for cold weather. The second was she was a black girl, not that it mattered. The third was that she was probably around mid twenties to early thirties. I based this on the skimpiness of her underwear. It was far too revealing for anyone over thirty-five and they were old enough to be out alone. Once she was settled in the seat, I crawled between the seats enough to reach the ignition button. "Step on the brakes.""What?" she asked"Step on the brakes so I can start the engine.""Oh. Okay," she said. I reached down and pushed the button starting the engine."As soon as it starts blowing warm, take off the coats, hats and your shoes. Don't forget to take off your shoes," I said as I crawled back into the back and into my warm sleeping bag."How come you're naked?" the one in the driver's seat asked."I'm not naked. Just almost. Don't you know about winter survival?""Just that you have to stay warm.""Warm and dry. Dry first. If you're not dry, you can never get warm. The clothes you wear all day. They have moisture in them. Some of it from the environment, some from sweat. If you go to sleep in them, it's a losing battle because you're sleeping in wet, and it wicks away your body heat.""Oh. That makes sense," she answered. "You know a lot about survival stuff?""Enough to not get caught unprepared.""Good point!" she said."It's blowing warm enough. Take off as much as you can. You want the air to warm your skin, not your cloths. Don't worry, I won't look. You have about five more minutes before I shut it down.""We're supposed to just undress up here?""Your choice," I answered, laying down looking at the ceiling. Nothing like rescuing people that were clueless. When ten minutes had elapsed, I called, "You can turn it off now.""For how long?" the one in the passenger side asked."Till morning.""What do we do until then?""Try and stay warm. It shouldn't get below forty or so.""Wait! How are we supposed to stay warm?"I sighed. "Okay. It'll be tight. But you can come back here. I have an extra blanket.""Back there?""That or up there. Your choice."There was silence for long seconds before the black girl spoke, "So, can you help us keep warm? I don't mean like make us warm, but help us so we can?""I can tell you what I'd do. What you do, I'll leave it to you. I don't want to be accused of taking advantage of anyone. These days, it's way too easy to get accused of things.""Fair enough. What would you do?""First thing is to put your coats on the floor. The floor will suck a lot more heat from you than the air will. Then take off everything you can. Anything you've been wearing all day. Put a hat on if you have one. If not, wrap something around your head to keep from losing heat. Lay on the blanket and wrap yourselves together in it. The more skin contact you can get the warmer you'll be. Pile your clothes on your feet. They're going to get cold first. The extra insulation will help.""What do I call you?""Roger.""Thank you, Roger. I'm Emily. This is my friend Cindy.""Hi Emily. I'll keep my eyes closed while you get settled. Watch out for the candle when you come back here."I heard a lot of shuffling and movement before they crawled back. "I don't have to worry about any jealous boyfriends or husbands, do I?" I asked as I lay with my eyes closed. I didn't know how much they took off, but I promised not to look, so I didn't."No. No boyfriends," Emily said from a lot closer to me than I expected. It must have been ten minutes before they finally settled down. "Getting warm?""Surprisingly, yes," Emily answered."Good. So what were you two doing out here?""Headed home from work," Emily said. "You?""Working, sort of. Just finished at a place down the road and was headed to Chicago.""Driving? Not flying?""See all this stuff you're sleeping next to? I need it to work, so flying isn't an option.""I don't suppose you have anything to drink?" Cindy asked, probably the first thing she's said since getting in the truck."When was the last time you ate?""Lunchtime," Cindy answered.I shook my head. I turned on the dome light and looked at the two girls pressed against each other. Emily was indeed a black girl with light chocolate skin, maybe late twenties. Her friend was a blonde, maybe a few years older. Thirty or so. I crawled halfway out of the sleeping bag and dug down under the folded down back seat. I pulled two bottles of water and a fat brown plastic package. It took a little twisting around, but I pulled the pocket knife from my pants and cleared a small work space where I'd been laying. I set the bottles down and cut the package open. "Lasagna. Not horrible once it's hot," I said as I poured water into the little heater bag. I slipped the dark brown package of food into the heater pouch and set it aside. "You're going to have to share. I only have so much.""We understand. Thank you for sharing."I dumped the rest of the contents of the M R E onto the floor. "You can split it up between you. The hot stuff will be hot in a few minutes. If you want, I can turn my back if you're not decent.""Considering that when morning comes, we're going to have the same problem, we might as well get it out of the way now. They're just boobs, and if you were going to take advantage of us, you wouldn't be sharing your supplies with us."She sat up and slid back until she was half out of the wrapped blanket. She was a very nice looking young lady, slender with firm maybe c cup breasts. I could see I hadn't missed on her underwear. It was a tiny red thong that left her entire ass bare. Given how small it was, I doubted she left any hair when she shaved. She reached for the two bottles of water, holding one out to Cindy. She sat up to take the bottle, trying to keep her chest covered, but failing. Her tits were quite a bit larger than Emily's, and she was a bit thicker. Not unattractively so, but definitely heavier. Her areolas were dark pink and covered a significant portion of her breast with big fat nipples poking out. The cool air was making her areola pucker and her nipples to harden enticingly. She took the bottle and drank down half of it in one long swallow. "Damn that tastes good. We tried eating snow, but it just made us colder.""It'll kill you, doing that. You have to melt it, or it'll just make your hypothermia worse.""You know a lot about survival, don't you?""Some.""More than some. Military?""Was.""I was military. They didn't teach us that kind of stuff," Cindy said."What branch?""Army. M P.""Ahh. That explains it.""So you?" she prompted again."Air Force.""Not a grunt for sure. Pilot?""Good guess.""Had to be. Explains the survival training," she said as I reached over and pulled the pack from the heater. I used my knife to cut the top open and stuck the spork into it before handing it to Emily. "So. Not a pilot any more, or you wouldn't be driving. What do you do now?""Contractor," I answered evasively."So in other words, you can't say?" Cindy said, taking the pouch from Emily after she had taken several bites. "Our work isn't that exciting. I'm afraid we're just lowly bookkeepers," she said as she ate another bite of food, the blanket falling down enough to expose her other breast. She handed the pouch back to Emily and then took another swig of water. "How long do you think we're going to be here?""If we're lucky, they can start clearing things out sometime tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another day to get this far. The closest exit is almost five miles away. That's a lot of cars to have to dig and tow out."She looked at the water bottle. "Do we have enough food and water to last that long?""Water's not a problem. We can melt snow and refill the bottles. Food, well, if it was just me, no problem. I have three M R E's left. We'll just have to make it last.""So, we're eating a quarter of your food supply?" Cindy asked, looking down at the pouch of food in her hand."I have some granola bars and junk food too. We'll make it last," I said with a shrug. "Our stomachs might growl a bit, but we have enough calories to last a couple days. We're in a lot better shape than a lot of people out there," I said, motioning to the darkness outside."I'm glad we knocked on your window," Emily said with a soft feminine chuckle."Better finish up. It'll start getting cold in here soon." I dug under the seat for one of the empty water bottles. I used my knife to cut the top off the bottle. I held it out to Emily. "You might want to use this before we go to sleep. It'll be a lot colder later.""Use this?" she asked, holding it up and looking at me curiously."Bathroom," I answered. "Unless you want to go squat outside. I'll try not to look. Or if you're bashful, you can crawl up into the front passenger seat. Just make sure after you go, that you dump it outside. And try not to spill it in here. We don't want to smell it for the next two days.""So, we're just supposed to pee in a bottle?" Cindy asked with a little shock in her voice."You don't have to. You can step outside, but in your current dress, it might be a bit chilly. Your choice though.""What about you?""I do the same thing," I answered her. "Look. I'm sorry there isn't a bit more privacy here. If I could, I'd try to put up a curtain or something for you. All I can do is offer to turn my back. I'm sorry."A Change In Attitude"Well, I'm not. You've brought us in and fed us and quite honestly kept us from dying. I'm not going to play bashful," Emily said quickly. She rolled onto her ass and slipped the tiny red thong panty down her legs and off, leaving her naked. She took the cut off bottle from Cindy and rolled to her knees. She knelt, somewhat bent over in the short confines, spreading her knees wide and lowering her definitely shaved cunt down towards the little bottle. I watched as she peed in the bottle, not bothering to hide any of herself as she did so. Her mound and cunt were completely shaved, her full dark outer lips framed a fair amount of even darker, almost black inner lip protruding. As she peed, I couldn't help but notice her nipples hardening, more than I could account for in the cool air inside the truck. She finished peeing and looked around."Here," I said, leaning closer to pick up the little package of paper wrapped toilet paper that was part of the M R E. My face was only a foot or so from her hardening nipples. I handed her the paper and then slid back away. She wiped with a few squares and then moved towards me, turning around to point her ass at me. She bent to open the car door a few inches and then bent even further to hold the bottle out the door and pour it on the ground. Her ass pushed out at me, and her cunt pushed between her thighs sexily. I couldn't help the reaction it was causing as she remained bent over for what seemed like a long time. She finally closed the door and crawled back up to where she had been sitting, her back against the driver's seat again."Here. Your turn," she said, holding the cup to Cindy."I don't have to.""Of course you do. Are you afraid to let Roger see your cunt?""Well, to be honest," she said meekly."That's okay. I'll turn around," I said, starting to twist myself around in my sleeping bag to face the back of the truck instead of the front and the girls."Don't be silly. It's your truck. If she doesn't want to pee in front of you, she can either climb in the front seat or go squat outside," Emily said, looking at her friend with a frown."Oh fine. You want me to get naked? Fine!" She crawled out of the remains of the wrapped blanket and lay down on top of it. She pushed the tiny bikini panties down her legs as she lifted her ass off the blanket. She slipped them down her legs and off over her feet. She set her feet on the blanket with her legs bent and then pushed her knees apart, leaving her entire body exposed. "There!"Her cunt lips were shaved but she had a small triangle of blonde curls on her mound that pointed down like an arrow to her full round lips and flowery inner lips."God Cindy. You are always so dramatic! You couldn't just pee in a cup like a normal person?" Emily asked."Okay fine! I'll pee in the stupid cup!" she answered, rolling to her knees. "Just one question," she added as she maneuvered so she was kneeling with her knees spread so the cup almost pressed to her cunt."What's that?""Does he have to get naked and pee in the cup too?""Cindy! It's His truck! For that matter, you didn't Have to get naked. You could have just pulled the crotch to the side.""No? Then why didn't You just pull it to the side. Same reason you wanted to get naked? I watched you make sure he could see everything he wanted. I watched you make sure your ass was pointed at him when you dumped it out and how long it took you. If I didn't know better, I'd say you Wanted him to see you naked.""How can you say such a thing?""One plus one sweetie," her friend answered just before she started flowing into the cut off bottle. "Oh. That feels good. I guess I did have to go." She finished peeing and then carefully crawled over her friend laying across her legs, so her ass stuck in the air. She opened the door and dumped the bottle out and then closed the door again. She pushed herself up and rolled back to sit down next to her friend. She intentionally pushed her feet apart to expose her cunt and set the cup on the floor between her legs. "Your turn." I looked at Cindy, sitting there with a crooked little grin. "What? If I'm going to tell the story to all our friends, at least I can make it a juicy one.""A juicy one? Really? You girls realize that I'm probably twenty years older than you are.""So?" Cindy said.I frowned and moved closer to her, reaching for the cup. She reached out and put her hand on the cup as well, keeping me from pulling it to me. "I think you should just do it right here. I mean you watched us, right?""That turn you on? Watching guys pee?" I asked."Uh uh. But I've been watching that bulge in your underwear getting bigger for the last ten minutes. I'm ready to see what's making it.""You expect me to have sex with you or something?""No. I don't expect it. But Emily probably wouldn't mind if you tried. She said she thought you were pretty hot."Something to Live For"This is ridiculous. I have no intention of having sex with you girls. It'd be nothing but trouble. But if you're dead set on seeing my cock, so be it." I sat down, pushed my briefs down and then rolled to my hands and knees so I didn't hit my head on the roof, my hard-on sticking down. I worked my briefs down and off my legs, leaving me completely naked and crawled the few feet to where Cindy sat. I settled on my knees, my head brushing the roof. I was still almost a foot and a half from the bottle. "I'm going to regret this," I said as I lifted and spread Cindy's legs so I could scoot myself toward the cut off bottle. As soon as my cock got close to the cut off bottle, she pulled her legs back together so they rested on my bent legs, my hard-on jutted up at an angle pointing straight at Cindy's face as I sat on my awkwardly bent legs. "Well, there you go. Happy now?""A lot happier than I was a minute ago," she said with a grin before looking over at Emily. "What do you think?""I think getting stranded just got a lot more interesting.""Very funny," I said with a frown. "Now. If we all can get settled again and get some sleep.""As soon as you go pee," Emily said."You got a thing about watching guys go pee?""You got a thing about watching girls go pee?""Not really.""Oh? That hard-on says different.""The hard-on is from looking at two sexy young bodies, not watching you go pee.""You think we're sexy huh? I was afraid we were a bit young for you," Emily said."You are. You're damn near half my age," I said. "But that doesn't mean I don't find you attractive.""Well for an old man, you have a pretty sexy looking cock," Emily said. "Don't you agree Cindy?""Oh hell yeah," Cindy agreed quietly, still looking at my cock. "So, You gonna pee? I'm starting to get cold."I sighed. "Yeah." Peeing with a hard-on isn't exactly easy. I pushed my head into the open top of the bottle and closed my eyes. No way I was going to be able to pee while looking at those sexy pussies. I took a few slow deep breaths trying to will myself to pee. I was glad I hadn't started yet when I felt a hand on my cock that wasn't mine. My eyes shot open in surprise and I jerked. "Hey!""It's okay," Emily said as she gently removed my hand from my cock. She continued to hold me, aiming me down into the cup. "Go ahead," she whispered. I closed my eyes and gave in to the urge that I had been trying to force. I could feel it coming, flowing out, the gentle sound of it hitting the small bottle. I worried that it was going to overflow, but felt my flow subside, leaving me just a few squirts before it was done. I expected her to let go, but instead I felt her hand lift me and aim me back up toward Cindy's face. Her hand started to slowly stroke me, my cock growing hard again in her hand. I opened my eyes and looked at Emily. She was on her knees, leaning over Cindy's leg, staring at my cock. She slowly stroked it, making it grow harder by the moment."You shouldn't do that," I whispered, wanting her to stop but not wanting it at the same time."I know," Emily answered, not stopping her strokes. I reached out and started to stroke her bare back, slowly sliding my fingers up and down her back in time with her hand sliding along my cock. Her hand slipped over my head with each stroke, teasing my engorged mushroom head. I let my hand slide further down her back, sliding it down over the curve of her amply round ass. She leaned over further and I watched as she engulfed the head of my cock with her mouth."Oh," I groaned softly as she teased her tongue around my head, taking her time. The motion rocked her forward, pushing her ass up in the air. I let my hand slide down further now, stroking under her ass, my fingers finding her hot wet cunt lips. She started to stroke her mouth slowly on and off my cock, her mouth following her hand. I stroked her lips, teasing my fingers between them, sliding them in time with her mouth. I felt her moan around my shaft as my fingers found her clit and bounced across it.The two of us lost ourselves in the sensations, her mouth teasing my cock and pushing my impending orgasm closer and closer to release. Her cunt was getting wetter, her hips lifting and lowering in time with my strokes, my fingers trying to push into her depths and then sliding along her pubic bone until my fingers bounced one after the other over her hard clit. Her moan around my cock signaled her climax, her motions suddenly less smooth. She continued to try to suck me, but for nearly a minute she was lost to her own climax. I gently stroked her cunt as her climax faded, her mouth once again working to push me over the top."Oh damn," I grunted as my cock started to spurt my cum into her mouth. My body jerked and twitched as I emptied shot after shot into her mouth. She pulled off of me only after sucking on me until I started to soften. She pulled her mouth off my cock and then lifted herself towards my face. She pressed her mouth to mine, giving me a long deep kiss. I could taste my own cum on her lips as we kissed. The kiss slowly softened and became gentle, her lips sucking on mine and her tongue teasing my lips."Thank you," she whispered as she finally broke the kiss. She pulled back and then moved the little bottle to dump it. She turned around and her ass pushed at me as she bent to reach the door handle to open the door. I couldn't resist, and pulled her ass towards me slightly, kissing her wet cunt lips. She held herself there while I teased her cunt with my tongue, taking the opportunity to try something I'd never done before, taste black cunt. She opened the door and emptied the bottle, trying hard not to pull her cunt away from my eager tongue. She finally did have to pull away to turn around. "I wouldn't mind more of that," she said with a grin."I wouldn't either, but it is getting colder in here. Something even your nipples are announcing.""Too bad," Emily said quietly with a grin."Come on. I'll help you girls get tucked in," I said. It took a couple minutes for them to get situated, both of them laying on their left sides, facing the passenger side. For whatever reason, they had chosen for Cindy to be on my side of the pair. I tucked them in and laid their dresses on their feet to help keep them warm. I slipped into my sleeping bag, zipped it up to my neck and then rolled onto my left side as well, spooning myself against Cindy's back as best I could to try and give them as much insulation as I could. It wasn't long before their breathing fell away to the soft rhythmic breathing of sleep. I followed shortly after. To be continued in part 2, Based on a post by m storyman x, for Literotica

Dry first. We're in a lot better shape than a lot of people out there," I said, motioning to the darkness outside.

There's also a reality in the mix of I may be passionate about, you know, some obscure form of art, but I'm not able to support my family off of that. So I may find a career that's interesting and challenging, but my passion remains in that obscure form of art. And that's fine. I think the word passion can be a bit extreme for some people, and it can make them feel that if they don't have a passion, will they be unhappy in their career? And that's not it. But what I sure want for people is not to have the opposite of passion, which is feeling depleted and unfulfilled and it's soul-sucking and you dread Mondays.” Dr. LauraWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Dave Kelly:Dave Kelly is an award-winning host, writer, and interviewer who creates intelligent and deeply human moments for events and keynote conversations around the world. Dr. Laura welcomes Giselle Kovary, a generational expert and Head of Learning and Development at Optimus SBR, to talk about the different generations in today's workplaces. Giselle has 25 years of experience in learning and development, has worked with over 26 Fortune 500 companies, and is the co-author of two books: Loyalty Unplugged and Upgrade Now. Dr. Laura and Giselle explore the differences in the five generations at work and how to harness their unique strengths and skills into a cohesive workplace. Giselle defines the five generations by age group as Traditionalists, from 79 to 100; Baby Boomers, from 60 to 78; Gen X, from 44 to 59; Millennials, from 29 to 43; and Gen Z, from 12 to 28. She also stresses, however, that age alone does not define a generation; how a person identifies plays a key part as well. For example, a Millennial may identify as Traditionalist in mindset and this needs to be accounted for when assessing generational differences. Giselle and Dr. Laura discuss how generational identities assist understanding at a macro level but that within organizations it's vital to understand employees at a micro level, as individuals, as well. Giselle offers insights into where different generational identities collaborate well and where clashes often occur, based on her studies and experience. These insights serve to highlight where organizations must strengthen communication and understanding in order to best utilize the strengths each generation brings to work.“Not everyone in a generation is going to align with this. But after over 20 years, I have literally thousands of anecdotes of when people will come up and say, oh my goodness, you just described me, or you described my children, you described my partner. And it's because there is enough of a baseline to say this is what this generation believes and thinks, and we want to look at it from that perspective. The other piece… is it's less important the year you're born and more about your generational identity. How do you identify?” Giselle KovaryWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Giselle Kovary, M.A.:As Head of Learning & Development at Optimus SBR, Giselle is dedicated to building strategies and programs that help clients target, motivate and engage employees in order to increase performance and productivity. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit wisdomofcrowds.liveFor some people, “liberal socialism” sounds like an oxymoron. Liberalism is a political idea that promises to protect individual rights. Socialism, on the other hand, is about collective power: the power of workers to organize and, if not quite seize, at least have a say in the administration of the means of production. Liberalism is about freedom, while socialism is about equality. Not so, argues Matthew McManus, political science professor at the University of Michigan. In his new book, The Political Theory of Liberal Socialism, McManus recovers the oft-forgotten tradition of liberal socialism. He tells the story of great liberal socialist thinkers while also crafting a contemporary version of liberal socialism, relevant for today.Samuel Kimbriel and Santiago Ramos open the episode with a discussion about the 2022 “Freedom Convoy” trucker protests in Canada, which displayed some of the tensions between socialist and liberal ideals. The conversation moves on to the thought of Mary Wollstonecraft, whether John Rawls was a socialist, and how Matthew's experience working for McDonald's converted him to socialism.Samuel and Santiago press Matthew about a core first principle: equality. Why does he hold to this principle? Where does it come from? How can it be philosophically defended and justified? Matthew considers the different sources of political conviction: personal experience, and political theory. Which one is more influential in a person's mind?In our bonus section for paid subscribers, Matthew criticizes the “nebbish incrementalism” of neoliberalism and the excesses of “postmodern skepticism,” while declaring: “Left wing intellectuals have a lot more that they could be doing.”Required Reading:* Matthew McManus, The Political Theory of Liberal Socialism (Amazon). * Matthew McManus faculty page (University of Michigan). * Matthew McManus and Carlo Lancellotti debate about conservatives and equality (WoC). * Matthew McManus, “The Liberal Democratic Socialism of John Rawls” (Liberal Currents). * “Canadian Trucker Convoy Descends on Ottawa to Protest Vaccine Mandates” (New York Times). * Article about 2010 anti-G20 protests in Canada: “Police take ‘pre-emptive strikes' with sweeping arrests” (CTV News). * Santiago Ramos, “The Meaning of McDonald's” (WoC).* Samuel Kimbriel and Damir Marusic debate “What Politics is Really About” (WoC). * Podcast with Alexandre Lefebvre, “Liberalism is Not Neutral” (WoC). * Derek Parfit, Reasons and Persons (Amazon). * Mary Wollstonecraft (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). He is also the best-selling author of over 39 books, including his latest non-fiction, Chained to the Desk in a Hybrid World. Dr. Robinson has researched and written extensively on the subjects of work-life balance, workaholism, and the impact of workaholism on families. Dr. Laura dives deep into Bryan's understanding of work addiction and how to regain perspective and balance in one's life.Dr. Robinson describes his own experience with workaholism and how deeply anxious he'd become if he didn't have work to do. Despite a failing marriage and physical health issues due to workaholism, it wasn't until he had a profound experience with the compassion and clarity exhibited by Tibetan monks that he started his journey toward balance. Bryan explains how counterintuitive it is to stop fighting and learn to float more in life, as in a riptide, but stresses it's finding balance to our fight or flight sympathetic nervous system that holds the key to self-care. Dr. Laura and Dr. Robinson talk about the lessons in his book Chained to the Desk in a Hybrid World, how Gen Z is changing the face of workaholism for the better, what “work jerkery” refers to, and how writing murder mysteries is part of Bryan's own balance in life. “I'm fortunate enough to live on the side of a mountain with an incredible view of the sunsets and just watching the sunset is fulfilling. And it also helps these creative ideas hatch. It's like an incubator. So even though I'm doing nothing, something's happening. And that's what we have to understand. Then what about my shortcomings? I can tell you what those are, but … what are my tallcomings again? People often go blank. But what you're doing is you're bringing balance to your thinking. You know, have a health day to balance out your sick days. Having green time to balance out the screen time.” - Bryan Robinson, PhDWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Bryan E. Dr. Laura welcomes Kelly Campbell, a Trauma-Informed Leadership Coach, keynote speaker, and author of the book Heal to Lead, to the podcast to talk about “the new TLC”, Trauma, Leadership, and Consciousness. Kelly was a successful CEO who sold her business in 2016 after a personal deep dive to learn who she was without the title of CEO. Her journey now, as she shares with Dr. Laura, is all about helping people heal unresolved trauma so they can lead from a place of wholeness.  Kelly differentiates between ‘big T' and ‘little t' trauma by definition but she identifies that the continuous nature of ‘little t' trauma erodes a sense of self over time and that all trauma is deeply impactful. It is both big and little T trauma, often unaddressed, that prevents leaders from being able to lead with compassion. Dr. Laura and Kelly explore the themes in her book, Heal to Lead, and why she was first moved to write the book. With powerful insights, famous examples, and a true understanding of what is needed for healing, Kelly's message resonates powerfully with Dr. Laura and anyone who hears this episode.“So the impetus for writing this book was, wow, I think I've landed on something in this correlation between trauma, unresolved trauma, unintegrated trauma in particular, and leadership style, leadership efficacy. And why is no one talking about this? So between the work that I was doing and my first-hand experience and my training, I was like, okay, well, if that book doesn't exist, I think it's time to write it.” Kelly CampbellWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Kelly Campbell:Kelly L. Dr. Laura talks with artist Tresa Gibson in Tresa's Calgary studio about overcoming adversities and listening to the call to live an authentic life. Tresa Gibson has been an artist for over twenty years, painting with oil on canvas in bright, vibrant colours with a lot of texture. She shares some of her life stories with Dr. Laura, including some of the struggles she overcame, and explains how art, combined with business acumen and problem-solving skills, helped her realize her most genuine life.Tresa understood she would somehow be in business at a young age but without knowing exactly how. As an adult, she took some art classes and stumbled into her love of painting and her true passion in life. While life threw many challenges in her path, including a very difficult health diagnosis for her son, Tresa's love of art never wavered. She tells Dr. Laura that while the path she walked looked different than she had expected, she heard the “whisper” in her ear and realized her duty in life was to heed that call. Tresa's passion for painting, her steely resolve when faced with challenges, and her openness to listening to her intuition make for a truly inspirational story.   “... similar to when you get in your car to drive home from work, it's a route that you drive all the time, so you're driving along in the car. You're not really consciously thinking ‘I have to turn right here, I have to turn left here.'  You're kind of just doing it. You're in a natural sort of meditative state as far as the drive home. And then you can think of other things. Well, when I'm painting a painting, I kind of open up that same way and I go into sort of an open, natural groove, and the painting just comes through me.” Tresa GibsonWatch this episode on Dr. Laura's YouTube channelAbout Tresa Gibson:Recognized for her unique impressionist style that balances colour and depth, Tresa's work has been described as a simultaneous sense of order and chaos. She has been a thriving self-taught artist for over 14 years specializing in oil on canvas. Born on the west coast in Victoria, Tresa moved around at a young age, to Britain and then to Calgary which she calls home. She runs a successful fast-paced studio in Calgary and her art can be found in collections throughout the world. Walk into her studio on any given day and there will be paint flying, music playing, and an abundance of laughter! Tresa is best explained as a fiery ball of energy & enthusiasm who throws herself with abandon into every facet of her life. Her art is an expression of her personal beliefs of optimism and spirituality. It illustrates the moments of enlightenment and positivity that we all seek.  Tresa is highly dedicated to giving to her community by participating in many fundraising efforts yearly. Her connection to others, in all occupations, fuel her excitement to express herself on canvas.  Resources:Website: TresaGibson.comInstagram: @TresaGibsonFacebook: Tresa Gibson Artist StudioEmail: tresagibsonfineart@outlook.comMissing Children Society of CanadaGems for GemsMark Groves“Bittersweet” by Susan CainLearn more about Dr. Laura on her website: https://drlaura.liveFor more resources, look into Dr. Laura's organizations: Canada Career CounsellingSynthesis Psychology

Dr. Laura revisits the topic of toxic bosses with in-depth information about the differences between a difficult boss and a toxic boss. In conducting studies and reading research on toxic bosses for the book she's writing, Dr. Laura has gathered an immense amount of knowledge on identifying, differentiating, dealing with, and surviving toxic bosses. In this episode, she illustrates how a difficult boss is not necessarily a toxic boss and why this difference matters. One of the main differences Dr. Laura points to is that while a difficult boss can be unpleasant to work with, they are manageable and can be navigated. A toxic boss, however, is not a sustainable person to work for as they are incredibly bad for mental health, physical health, and career progression. Dr. Laura breaks down all the ways we can differentiate between a difficult and toxic boss through their personal styles of management, levels of micromanagement, whether they communicate poorly or with dishonest and manipulative intentions, and how it feels when working with them. This episode expands our understanding of toxic bosses and adds more information to our knowledge bank so that toxic bosses can be more readily identified and, hopefully, avoided.“And the biggest difference, really, is that you can find ways to manage a difficult boss, and you cannot do so with a toxic boss. A toxic boss is really damaging to your engagement, your productivity and your wellbeing.” Dr. LauraAbout Dr. Laura:Dr. Laura Hambley Lovett is a work and career psychologist and thought leader on the evolution of work. And all of that is exploitation. There's certainly exploitation that isn't yet trafficking, but when that third-party trafficker, controller, is forcing someone to be somewhere and receiving money for some sort of sexual, you know, exploitation or effort, then it becomes trafficking. And it's usually, according to the definition, through force, physical force, oftentimes violent force, sometimes lethal force, fraud or coercion.” Alan Smyth“And [trafficking] is not something that you just want to say, oh, that happens in another country far far away. Dr. Laura welcomes Brigid Schulte, journalist, think tank program director, keynote speaker, and author of the best-selling book, Overwhelmed: Work, Love, and Play When No One Has the Time. Brigid is currently the Director of the Better Life Lab and her latest book Over Work: Transforming the Daily Grind in the Quest for a Better Life, focuses on how our lives can improve by examining overwork.  She and Dr. Laura discuss what contributes to overwork and how we can make meaningful changes in work in terms of policy, gender equality, and cultural attitudes and behaviors. The notion of overwork is not exclusive to Western cultures and in researching Over Work, Brigid spent time in Japan and other countries in addition to studying American work attitudes. In Japan there is a word for when people die from overwork: karoshi. Brigid wants to understand what drives people to overwork and how change can be made at a cultural level. She describes the symptoms and ultimate results of overwork with Dr. Laura and their discussion examines why all work should be good work, rewarded with a liveable wage and dignity in whatever job is being done. This episode digs deep into why we value working too much instead of valuing the work itself and how it contributes not just to our personal gain but to the common good and shared prosperity.    “I argue that we need to think much differently about what work is, that work is not only what we do for pay, it is also all of the unpaid work of care and home that women have mainly done for generations … We need to consider that work. But we also need to be thinking about the contributions we make to our communities, to our society, and thinking about reclaiming the sense of why we work, not necessarily for personal enrichment or GDP growth or the stock market.” Brigid SchulteAbout Brigid Schulte:Brigid Schulte is an award-winning journalist and bestselling author.
