In November 1998, 25-year-old Corey Parker was living her dream in Jacksonville Beach, Florida — taking college classes, working as a waitress, and embracing her independence. But just days after a night out with friends, Corey was found brutally murdered in her apartment — stabbed dozens of times, her killer leaving behind a blood-soaked crime scene and no immediate suspects. With no forced entry and few clues, the case went cold for nearly two years — until a tip from a casual lakeside conversation led police to Robert Denny, a quiet teenager who had lived in the apartment next door. He had been watching Corey. Fantasizing. Planning. He was just 17 when he crawled through her window and carried out one of the most disturbing crimes the city had ever seen.Sources: In Ice Cold Blood: Season 2, Epi 1: Peeping PervDateline: Rear Window https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/crime/2013/03/16/jacksonville-beach-murder-is-subject-of-documentary/11509407007/https://www.news4jax.com/news/2018/07/16/man-sentenced-to-life-in-ragtime-waitresss-murder-hopes-for-new-trial/Send us a textEmail Residue: residuepodcast@gmail.comFind RESIDUE online:Instagram: @residuepodcastTik Tok: @residuepodcast Facebook: Residue:A True Crime Podcast Credits: RESIDUE is Hosted/Produced/Researched/Edited by Chrissy Champagne THEME SONG: "Dance Of Death" by Purple Planet Music collection written and performed by Chris Martyn and Geoff Harvey. Tune in to the inaugural installment of the Suite Spot: Road Trip series! In this episode the Suite Spot takes a drive to SpringHill Suites Jacksonville Beach Oceanfront to meet with Area General Manager, Alex Reitter, and Area Director of Marketing & Sales, Samantha Pritchard. Alex and Samantha give viewers an inside look at the property's signature restaurant, The Sand Bar, and why this hotel needs to be the next destination on all traveler lists. Ryan Embree: Welcome to Suite Spot, where hoteliers check in and we check out what's trending in hotel marketing. I'm your host, Ryan Embree. Hello everyone. Welcome to another episode of The Suite Spot. This is your host, Ryan Embree. If you're listening to us or watching us on our YouTube channel, you'll see that we are not in our content creation studio in Maitland. We have hit the road for a new series, the Suite Spot Road Trip, and we are here at the Spring Hill Suites, Jacksonville Beach, Ocean Front. And I'm here with two wonderful guests joining me today, general Area General Manager Alex Reitter, and Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Samantha Pritchard. Alex. Samantha. Thank you so much for hosting us on the Suite Spot at your beautiful ocean front property. Alex Reitter: We're happy to have you. Thanks for coming out. Ryan Embree: Very excited to be here. As it is, Suite Spot tradition. One of the coolest thing about hospitality, we were talking about off camera is just our, the history, the DNA that gets built over the years. Maybe different brands, different management companies that you've been a part of. Everyone has a unique story, but it all leads us back to people serving people, right. That that's why we love hospitality. So love to hear maybe your backgrounds in hospitality and what let you here to a brand new property, which we're gonna talk about here shortly. Alex, we'll go ahead and start with you. Alex Reitter: Okay. Well, thanks Ryan. Thanks for coming out. Of course. Again. So, yeah, I think I have an interesting start in Hospitality fell into actually start out on small cruise ships. Intercoastal, I'm not even sure if you knew that Samantha. Samantha Pritchard: No. New Skills. Alex Reitter: So it was definitely a interesting start. You know, uh, intercoastal cruising, seven night trips up and down the, uh, east coast after college. You know, we did trips in Maine, Chesapeake Bay, all the way down to Florida. It was, you know, amazing experience. But when you're working six to eight weeks on a boat, nonstop, you kind of look for other options. And hotel kind of was a natural fit for me. From there, I've had a chance to actually work a courtyard down the street from this Spring Hill. And then actually a little time in the Florida Keys, uh, most recently in a Marriott in Durham, North Carolina. The weather got a little cold. It snowed a couple times on us, and we said, let's get back to Florida. So excited to be here. And excited to work with Samantha. I've only been here a couple months and ready to get the ball rolling. Ryan Embree: Well, I think you're our first guest that has got their hospitality start. I've, I've heard behind the front desk I've heard bellman. I don't know if I've ever heard on a cruise, so that's very, very cool. But it's a story that resonates probably with a lot of our hotel audience, and listeners sometimes just kind of jumping from place to place. But again, people serving people, hospitality. Samantha, you've had kind of a different journey here. Talk to us a little bit about that. Samantha Pritchard: Yeah, so I started my hospitality journey in the Convention Visitor Bureau with Visit Jacksonville. It was, it was some of the best years just learning the business, being around people that have been doing it a long time. So then I left the CVB and went out as a director of sales. So my first job on property was a director of sales, just from some of the hotel connections made dur...

David Koehn David Koehn is the founder and president of Koehn Outdoor, formerly DM Koehn Landscaping, Inc. David learned the construction and green industry at an early age by working with his father Douglas W. Koehn at his Class A Contracting business in Franklin, VA. After receiving a 2-year degree in industrial technology from a local community college, David moved from Franklin, VA to Jacksonville, FL in 2001 and started DM Koehn Landscaping in 2004, when he was only 24 years old. In its humble beginnings, David's business was a one-man residential mowing operation. With the company's success, David added more employees, equipment, and trucks and began focusing growing the business commercially. Early in life, David was taught that, “when you do something, you do it right and with integrity” — a life lesson that has become one of the Koehn Outdoor's core values. Over time, Koehn Outdoor has developed into a market-leading commercial landscape management company with over 120 full-time employees. The company has developed award-winning hardscapes and beautiful amenity centers throughout the state of Florida. Having adapted a culture of continuous learning, training, and strategic planning, David and the Koehn Outdoor leadership team hold many green industry certifications and licenses and are involved in many industry professional associations. In 2018, Koehn Outdoor engaged with green industry specialist Envisor Consulting. The Envisor team holds leadership accountable for achieving goals and maintaining a level of customer service that is unmatched in Northeast Florida — which coincides with David's personal promise to his clients that Koehn Outdoor provides the most customer value for the most competitive price possible. When not working, David enjoys spending time with his two younger children Leah and Lucas. They enjoy traveling, going to the beach, church services at Eleven 22 church, and being involved in the local Jacksonville Beach community events. Kurt Bland Kurt Bland grew up in Apex, NC as an avid outdoorsman, working a variety of jobs in his family's landscaping business. He attended North Carolina State University and earned bachelor's degrees in Agri-Business Management and Horticulture Science. He began his management career with Del Conte Landscaping in Northern California. Since returning to Bland Landscaping Company (BLC) 23 years ago, Kurt has led BLC's southeastern expansion in partnership with his brother Matt Bland and their executive team. The two brothers recapitalized their 49-year-old family-owned business with Prospect Partners in 2017 and have built one of the country's most well respected commercial exterior service platforms, focused on landscape grounds management and aquatic services. As a platform, BLC has acquired and successfully integrated 6 landscape add-on acquisitions along with 2 aquatic add-on acquisitions under the DBA Foster Lake and Pond Management. These investments have provided liquidity to fund the retirement of ten previous owners who were ready to retire. In 2024, Prospect Partners exited their investment in BLC, allowing Kurt and his team to join the private equity portfolio of Comvest Partners. With more than $13B of assets under management, Comvest Partners will enable BLC to fulfill its vision of building the most successful landscape and aquatic services platform in the Southeastern United States. An engaged and forward-thinking industry leader, Kurt speaks on a variety of business-related topics at universities and industry events. “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Maya Angelou It is the day after Independence Day. I'm watching the street sweeper brush up the remnants of yesterday's fireworks shells on the neighborhood streets of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The detritus of the party is all that is left after America's red, white and blue holiday. Last night thousands of people poured past the front of my house to go to the beach to watch the fireworks and celebrate freedom and independence. Thousands of explosions small and large rocked the beach and I was in the middle of it. A far cry from the remote shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I have spent the last 10 years celebrating the holiday with my sister and family. But nothing is at all like the past for me this year and it has me examining my attachments really closely and getting super clear on what truly is conscious choice and surrender. Because somewhere in between that lies True Freedom in this lifetime. True freedom isn't surrendering to the current and going with the flow that others set for us. A lot of people think that is an easy life - just let go! Don't choose, let life take you as it may - everything happens for a reason etc…That's just floating. Delegating your personal responsibility for your life to others so you have the excuse “I was just going with the flow!” or “I had no choice!” You did though. You chose not to choose in that situation because something in your programming, that artificial intelligence of your negative ego, has you so afraid to do so. whether you believe you can't have nice things, or you are so afraid to fail, or who knows what your damage is, but if you never examine the baggage you carry, you will never know. On the other side, is someone like me. Controlling every single aspect of everything in your life with an exacting plan that everything must go according to, or else. Achieving the objective of the moment. Because achievement of the next thing is the highest good. Except sometimes, er, well, a lot of the time, my objective is misinformed because it comes from my subconscious programming and I am not aware of that, until it's too late. If you try to control every little thing you are so busy controlling you can't see or hear the signs that there is something better or that a higher path could open up, paved in opportunities. Except in these situations I honestly believe I am acting from conscious choice when I double down in stubborn determinism and radical self reliance “to make it work!” to “achieve the gold star!” to “take care of the problem!” But as my recent move from St. Augustine to my partner's house in Jax Beach proves - NO, I'm not always aware of how my thoughts are creating my reality. And I made a lot of things harder on myself by just assuming I had to do it all myself because that is the way it has always been. Meanwhile my partner is left wondering why I didn't trust him enough to ask for help. And I realized I didn't because I assumed I couldn't and I was afraid of retribution for asking at all. So yeah - I didn't trust. So here I am - surrendering to the change and the shift - all beautiful things coming from being in partnership with another but I was completely unwilling to look at how I approached a situation with him on my team, or even being on a team period. Huh. Was that conscious choice from my higher self? I couldn't let go of control and my subconscious programming for two seconds, I reacted and went right into “do it all yourself” mode. But I won't do that specific thing again. Now that I see it and can be willing to let it go. I can learn from it and be aware in the future and not do it that way again. No shame, no blame or guilt. Yes I was emotional when the situation was brought up for me to look at it. But most of it was from the release of all that stored shit in my subconscious and it wasn't directed at anybody, as much as it was messy. Literally my suitcase of unexpressed emotion was strewn all over my partner's living room. And luckily he's very patient and held space to let me work it through. So how do we know if we are surrendering our attachments and living and choosing from the collective consciousness of the higher selves and ascended masters i.e. the positive ego, free of the negative ego and shadow self? We can't sit there and analyze every action. Or can we? No, we can't - that analysis paralysis would be using our lower self to attempt to solve the problem that got us there in the first place. We have to use discernment. And this is where training comes in and the invocation of the Adept Initiate. “It is by will alone that I set my mind in motion.” Every human being, myself very much included, is far from perfect but the path to know thyself allows us to get clearer and clearer every day such that we begin to know ourselves as the creator of our reality and to be able to tap into the will of God and the universe - and with that understanding of the higher good we use our mind as a tool versus us becoming a tool of the mind. Monkey mind gets in the back seat where it belongs in a seat belt strapped in. We sit in the driver's seat with a GPS from a higher power and are capable of managing our thoughts, words, and deeds towards the best and highest good we know at the moment. How do we get here? Through daily will strengthening exercises. Through daily boundary setting exercises. And learning through doing - achieving the understanding of where I begin and end. Understanding my true needs and wants and where they begin and end. What my wants truly are and how to choose, not out of fight or flight but from nurture and love for self and others. All of this combined with meditation so there is actual space for mental clarity and the light of God i.e. enlightenment, whatever you choose to call it, to come in. From that place we can begin to experience True Freedom. Freedom from triggers, from self defeating patterns, from digging ourselves into deeper holes when we think we are solving problems. And when we know ourselves better there are less surprises and we can surrender to the positive will of the universe, letting go of our crap and allowing help to come in when it is offered (among other things.) As I just shared in my example today, by no means is the path of the adept initiated in the lineage of King Salomon a magick pill that makes you perfect and cures all ills in life. But if you are willing to do the work it is exceptionally rewarding and leads to the ability to enjoy limitless freedom and joy in this physical existence - improving your daily life gradually with proven repeatable methods. If you are interested in learning about these practices and the path of an adept initiate offered in the Empower Thyself program please reach out, I can connect you to a practitioner in your area. Alright my friends, until next time, do your best until you know better, then do better! And if you need help along the way - I can help with that!

In a sea of closures Jekyll Brewing continues to growIt's not a story you hear often these days. Not only has Jekyll Brewing weathered the storm of the last few years, they're thriving. Founder and CEO Michael Lundmark joins us this week to chat about beer, taking care of yourself, and what's been key to his growth.Jekyll opened in the Dark(er) Ages of Georgia beer. Breweries weren't allowed to serve food and couldn't even sell beer direct to consumers. It was a land of tours and tastings and anyone around in these days may have some tickets or tokens stashed back.In addition to expanding his locations, he's also expanded his offerings. Alongside a variety of beer you'll find spirts, seltzer, and wine. As the laws changed Jekyll took advantage of the new rules. They opened a restaurant brewery in city center of Alpharetta, GA. Woodstock and Gainesville, GA would follow, and Jacksonville Beach, FL. Jekyll's not done yet, Mike has his sites of a few more Florida locations in the near future.Take Care of YourselfMike and his wife were always active and healthy people. His wife was very fit and never had any health issues, so she rarely visited the doctor. Unfortunately, after feeling unwell, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Mike reminds us to make sure to get checked regularly, no matter how we feel. Mike also supports cancer research with annual brew and fundraiser at Jekyll Brewing.Brewery Closures and Bottle SharesSome bummer news this week as we hear of Cascade Brewing's closure. They were a favorite in the fruited sour game, we'll miss them for sure.We also reminisce on he bottle shares of yesterday. They don't seem to happy like they used to, and it's nice to get any excuse to dust off something from the cellar. Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! In this episode, we chat with Javier Fabrega of Marsh Sessions. Javier is a father of three that escapes to saltwater every chance he gets to chase redfish and other species in Northeast Florida. Growing up in the Republic of Panama, Javier has a deep connection to the ocean, but it wasn't until 2015, in Jacksonville Beach, FL, that he discovered the world of fly fishing. He was drawn to the welcoming and passionate fly fishing community, and has since started Marsh Sessions where he highlights all the great things about fly fishing, but not necessarily the fish. The DAYTONA 100 is a point to point race that starts from Jacksonville Beach and goes south to Ponce Inlet, which is about 10 miles south of Daytona. The course is flat and is a solid choice for a first ultra or to set a PR. The race is run on pavement, so this is not a 100 miles of running on the sand down the coast. If you hear Florida and think, oh man, that is going to be real hot and humid for a 100 miler, don't lose heart, this race takes place in December, so that should help alleviate some of those concerns. Let us not also neglect the fact of who the race director is either. Bob Becker proves that age is just a number, and embodies our ethos of Showing Up. Bob holds the age group world record for 48 hours with 167.5 miles that he set in June 2023 at the age of 78. And, is also the oldest finisher of Badwater 135 that he finished in 2022 at the age of 77. Bob shatters the myth that we have to hang up the shoes, just because we are getting a little bit older. Have you ever pondered how thin the line between love and hate can be? This intriguing question lies at the heart of the Jared Bridegan murder case, a complex saga of family drama, scorn, and alleged murder. Tony Brueski, host of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, recently delved into this gripping case with former FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer. Brueski and Coffindaffer analyzed the police interviews of Shanna Gardner and Mario Saldana, charged with the ambush shooting of Gardner's ex-husband, Jared Bridegan, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The pair's insights offer a fascinating glimpse into a tangled web of emotions, motives, and family strife. Jennifer Coffindaffer provided a keen analysis of Gardner's statements, observing a profound sense of scorn and bitterness in her words. "I think there's a very thin line between love and hate," Coffindaffer noted, suggesting that Gardner's hatred stemmed from a deep-seated love gone awry. She highlighted Gardner's portrayal as a financial pillar in the family and her frustration over monetary issues, reflecting a mix of emotional and pragmatic concerns in the backdrop of a custody battle. The podcast also scrutinized Saldana's contrasting account, which pointed to Bridegan's supposed enemies. Brueski questioned whether this was a deflection of guilt or a logical explanation from someone newly related to a complex family dynamic. Coffindaffer saw it as a strategic diversion, contrasting Gardner's emotional appeal with Saldana's more logical approach. Yet, the crux of the case lies in the hard evidence, which Coffindaffer believes strongly implicates the duo. She also dismissed the possibility of extended family involvement, citing a lack of supporting evidence. The discussion ended with Brueski pondering alternative scenarios, including the potential involvement of other family members, akin to the Adelson case. However, Coffindaffer remained steadfast in her belief that the evidence pointed directly to Gardner and Saldana. This case leaves us wondering: how often do love and hate intertwine in such tragic outcomes? And could a deeper understanding of these emotions help prevent future tragedies? The Jared Bridegan murder case continues to provoke thought and debate, reflecting the complexities of human relationships and the dark turns they can take. When 25 year old Corey Parker was found brutally stabbed in her Jacksonville Beach apartment, investigators immediately had their suspicions that she knew her killer. Unfortunately, determining the identity of the perpetrator wasn't so easy. Being a social butterfly with many friends and acquaintances made narrowing down the persons of interest a little more difficult. Having several different DNA samples from the crime scene certainly did not help either. After ruling out all those suspected from Corey's list of friends, detectives had no choice but to wait for more leads. Over a year later, when a reward was offered for more information, a couple local residents recalled a former coworker who lived in the building next to Corey and how he lied about his need to leave town shortly after her murder. Join us for this listener requested case as Elysia shocks Savannah with the plot twist she never saw coming and we discuss the difficulties of believing a man who claims innocence when DNA places him at the crime scene. Shanna Gardner, the Florida woman facing first-degree murder charges for her alleged involvement in the murder of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan, was captured on camera months before her arrest, sharing a tearful account of how she and Jared's second wife, Kirsten, broke the devastating news to their children. Gardner, who has hired prominent defense attorney Jose Baez, had previously spoken to Action Jax, expressing shock at her ex-husband's death and proclaiming her innocence. In a heart-wrenching interview, Gardner recounted the emotional moment when they informed the children about Jared Bridegan's tragic demise. "It was a very quick visit," Gardner revealed, "And we just wanted it very clear that this is to honor his memory. We didn't want too many details. … I think we all can agree that we love the kids, and they needed to be the priority." A year later, Gardner faces severe legal consequences as she stands accused of engineering her ex-husband's murder, which took place in February 2022. On that fateful day, Jared Bridegan had just dropped off their twins at Gardner's Jacksonville Beach residence when he encountered a tire blocking his path. Tragically, he was shot multiple times while investigating the obstruction, with his 2-year-old daughter with Kirsten in the backseat. Gardner's involvement in a bruising custody battle with Jared at the time raised suspicions. To counter these whispers, she gave an interview to "Action Jax" TV station in June 2022, where she vehemently declared her innocence. Recent excerpts from this interview have been released, revealing Gardner's emotional state as she discussed the murder she is now accused of initiating. "I found out in the middle of the night," Gardner said, reflecting on her ex-husband's death. "I was shocked." Her emotions also spilled over when she spoke about the impact of the tragedy on their children, stating, "I can't imagine as children what that kind of news would mean, to have to process that. Much less something that they love, their father." Gardner additionally reminisced about her initial encounter with Jared Bridegan, whom she would later be charged with killing. She revealed they were set up on a blind date in Salt Lake City two decades ago, leading to a fast-paced relationship and eventual marriage. "We got married soon after dating. Within a couple of years, we had twins. Any time kids come into the mix, it's a lot," Gardner said. The legal ramifications of the case have extended beyond Gardner, as her new husband, Mario Fernandez, and a former tenant, Henry Tenon, have also been charged in connection with Jared's murder. The case has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of a prominent Microsoft executive, the emotional toll on the children, and Gardner's hiring of Jose Baez, known for securing an acquittal for Casey Anthony. As the legal proceedings continue, the community remains gripped by the tragic events surrounding Jared Bridegan's death, and the questions surrounding his murder remain unanswered. In a recent turn of events surrounding the high-profile case of Shanna Gardner-Fernandez, the parents of Gardner-Fernandez are under scrutiny for allegedly providing misleading information to the court to gain custody of their grandchildren. The case has garnered significant attention, considering the implications for two innocent children at its center. Currently, Abby and Liam, the 11-year-old twins of Jared Bridegan and Gardner-Fernandez, are under the care of their maternal grandparents. Before Jared's untimely death, the exes had maintained a joint custody arrangement, which allowed the twins to live half of the year with their half-siblings and Jared's widow, Kirsten Bridegan. However, since Jared's passing, Kirsten has passionately pleaded for visitation, stating that the children have been "kept away and isolated from us." However, the situation took a more convoluted turn when the Gardner's' custody petition came under the spotlight. They submitted a petition to Benton County Superior Court in Washington state, seeking full custody of the twins. The document asked specific questions about the residency of the children. One question was clear: "During the past 5 years have any of the children lived…outside Washington state?" The Gardners reportedly marked "No." This, however, stands in direct contrast to the fact that Gardner-Fernandez and the children moved from Florida to Washington only in December 2022, presumably to evade the public gaze due to the highly publicized murder case. The discrepancy doesn't end there. The Gardners, who primarily reside in Utah, were the benefactors of the million-dollar residence that became the sanctuary for Gardner-Fernandez before her arrest. Legal experts believe that the Gardners may have deliberately provided false residency information to prevent the case from being litigated in Florida, where Jared's parents live, a move that could potentially backfire. Prominent matrimonial lawyer Marilyn Chinitz, known for representing Hollywood stars like Tom Cruise and Michael Douglas, weighed in on the controversy, telling Fox News Digital, "Coming to the court and patently lying by filling out a form with false information warrants a complete dismissal of their application." Chinitz added, "The court will look at that petition with a really jaundiced eye." Moreover, the petition raised more eyebrows when the Gardners answered "No" to a query asking if they knew of anyone, other than themselves and the twins' parents, who had, or claimed to have, a legal right to spend time with the twins. This is striking, given that Kirsten Bridegan, Jared's widow, has been very vocal about her desire to visit the children. She has been on record, expressing her deep anguish over being denied access to Abby and Liam, lamenting to reporters, "We are their family. We love them. Despite my constant requests to see or speak to them, I have been denied and continuously ignored." Notably, Jared's parents, Gaylord and Joanna Bridegan have also expressed their desire to be with their grandchildren. Commenting on the glaring inconsistencies in the petition, Chinitz noted, "This is a highly publicized case where the widow and paternal grandparents are out there saying they want to see the kids. I can't even justify why they would make that false statement." Further deepening the suspicion, the Gardners left out mentioning the twins' substantial trust accounts when asked to list the children's assets in the petition. Shelli Gardner, owner of the successful papercraft company, Stampin' Up!, has been the financial pillar for Gardner-Fernandez for the majority of her adult life. The Gardners recently severed more ties with Florida, selling their oceanfront Jacksonville Beach property for a whopping $3,650,000. As this legal and familial drama continues to unfold, the primary concern remains the well-being of two innocent children caught in the crossfire. Legal experts, the media, and the public are all closely watching, waiting to see how the court will handle the questionable information provided by the Gardners and what that means for the future of Abby and Liam. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed the extradition order for Shanna Gardner-Fernandez, 35, from Washington state to Florida to face charges in a gripping murder plot. Gardner-Fernandez, heir to a multimillion-dollar papercraft business, is accused of orchestrating the execution-style murder of her ex-husband, 33-year-old Microsoft executive, Jared Bridegan. Jared Bridegan was shot multiple times in an alleged ambush in February 2022 on a secluded Jacksonville Beach road. The incident took place shortly after Bridegan dropped off the twins he shared with Gardner-Fernandez at her residence. Tragically, the Microsoft senior UX designer was gunned down in the presence of his two-year-old daughter from a subsequent marriage. The chilling act was committed in an area surrounded by dense trees, with no security cameras to record the heinous crime. “Jared was lured to his death. For the murder to happen in that specific area, it's clear someone had planned it. There are no cameras or houses there, just trees on a one-way street,” expressed Kirsten, Bridegan's widow, in an interview with DailyMail.com. The 61-year-old hitman, Danny Tenon, previously a tenant of Gardner-Fernandez's current husband, Mario Fernandez Saldana, admitted to the murder. Tenon disclosed that he had been contracted by Saldana-Fernandez for the crime. After his arrest on unrelated charges, Tenon also revealed his willingness to testify against his alleged co-conspirators. Gardner-Fernandez, previously of Jacksonville, had shifted about 2,800 miles to the Pacific Northwest, after the incident, an area known for not having the death penalty. Law enforcement officials in Florida have, however, signified their intention to seek the death penalty for her crimes. Many are closely watching this case, not just for its dramatic elements but due to the political implications with Governor DeSantis' involvement. The Jacksonville State Attorney's Office confirmed to DailyMail.com that the extradition order had been signed, sidelining an extradition hearing previously scheduled for Gardner-Fernandez. The charges facing Gardner-Fernandez include first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Notably, if found guilty, she might be subjected to the death penalty in Florida, where five executions have already been conducted this year. High-profile criminal defense attorney Hank Coxe, representing Gardner-Fernandez, previously declared intentions to contest the extradition. The warrant for her extradition is currently en route to Benton County, Washington. Gardner-Fernandez's association with her new husband, Mario Fernandez Saldana, and the ensuing dramatic transformation in her behavior raised eyebrows among acquaintances. Once known as a straight-laced individual, she evolved into someone significantly bolder, even shocking tattoo parlor staff in 2015 with a request for a genital piercing. The motivations behind this murder are speculated to revolve around a bitter custody battle over twins Liam and Abby, following the couple's separation in 2015. Kirsten Bridegan expressed her sentiments regarding Gardner-Fernandez's arrest, stating, “There is satisfaction in knowing that the person I believe was the driving force behind this doesn't get the privileges that she allegedly took from Jared. I trust the prosecutors to make the best decision for the case, and if that is the death penalty, then we support that.” The trial for Gardner-Fernandez is set to resume in Florida on October 5th. The case continues to attract significant attention due to its intricate ties of family, betrayal, and the weighty legal consequences involved. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In a gripping and tragic twist of events, the ex-wife of a high-ranking Microsoft executive, Jared Bridegan, has been indicted and charged with his gruesome murder in Jacksonville, Florida. State Attorney Melissa Nelson brought this shocking revelation to light during an intensive news briefing. The crime, which had previously baffled Florida law enforcement, is now unraveling, revealing the sordid details behind the calculated assassination of a loving father and accomplished professional. Jared Bridegan was not just any software developer. He was a crucial asset to tech giant, Microsoft, and an affectionate father to four children. The cruel nature of his demise on February 16, 2022, left the community in shock. On that fateful evening, after responsibly ensuring the safety of his twin children in a Jacksonville Beach neighborhood, Jared encountered an unexpected obstacle. In a dimly-lit street lay a stray tire. As any good Samaritan would, he attempted to move it for the safety of others. Unbeknownst to him, this act of kindness would be his last. He was ambushed and shot multiple times, leaving his two-year-old daughter abandoned yet thankfully unharmed in her car seat. The name at the heart of this scandal? Shanna Lee Gardner, aged 36. This startling development came as her former husband, Jared's wife, Kristen Bridegan, stated, "From the onset, everything within me believed she had a hand in this." But what could be the possible motive behind such a heinous act? The couple's tumultuous past reveals a trail of clues. Court records describe their divorce as "highly acrimonious", painting a picture of intense discord and a "contentious relationship" that extended even to Gardner's current husband, Mario Fernandez Saldana. In another startling turn, it was divulged that the state is not only pursuing the death penalty against Shanna Gardner but also against Mario Fernandez Saldana. Represented by Jesse Dreicer, Fernandez Saldana firmly asserts his innocence. Dreicer, expressing faith in the forthcoming exoneration of his client, emphasized that, “He has pleaded not guilty and remains innocent until proven otherwise.” However, the case took on more weight when the alleged hitman, Henry Arthur Tenon, aged 62, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. His plea came with a caveat: Tenon agreed to testify against both Fernandez Saldana and Gardner, drawing clear lines of connection between the parties involved. State Attorney Nelson, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the crime, declared, “Henry Tenon didn't act in isolation. Mario Fernandez didn't devise this alone. Shanna Gardner's indictment underscores her pivotal involvement in Jared Bridegan's calculated assassination.” Post the murder, as media interest spiked, Gardner found refuge far from Florida in West Richland, Washington. She staunchly maintained her innocence in interactions with the media. Nevertheless, an arrest warrant for Gardner surfaced, underscoring the tumultuous nature of her relationship with Bridegan. In a heart-wrenching statement, Gardner's parents, Shelli and Sterling Gardner, expressed their profound grief, emphasizing the significance of family during such challenging times. They lovingly supported their daughter and highlighted the challenges faced by the grandchildren amidst this media frenzy, urging respect for privacy. For the Bridegan family, this revelation isn't an end but merely a chapter closed. Kristin Bridegan, still grieving, said, “Shanna's arrest concludes a distressing chapter in our quest for justice for Jared. Yet, this is only the beginning. We anticipate a harrowing journey ahead but are determined to see justice served to its full extent.” As the case unfolds, the world watches intently, anticipating further revelations and awaiting justice for a father whose life was taken all too soon.
