Whether we realize it, or not, it is the ache of every soul to experience more of God. Sadly, most of us settle for distance in relationship with God, rather than close, genuine relationship that He offers. So how do we bridge the gap between where we are and what He offers to us. The nation of Israel had the same experience and their story in Genesis 20:18-21 offers us a way forward. Ryan Huguley

In this webinar, Ryan Huguley speaks about the importance of preaching to the head, heart and hands of our congregations. Since the Bible speaks to the intellectual, practical and emotional aspects of human life, so the preacher should do so as well. Ryan speaks about these three areas and then focuses on the heart and makes a case that the only way that a preacher can preach TO THE HEART is if they are preaching FROM THE HEART, and so he unpacks his own story, and ways that we can be analysing our own emotional health and growing in emotional intelligence. The message is followed by an interactive time of Q+A. Ryan Huguely is the pastor at Ridgeline Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, and author of “8 hours or Less: Writing Faithful Sermons Faster” https://www.amazon.com/Hours-Less-Writing-faithful-sermons/dp/0802415083/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= Ryan’s previous Expositors Collective interview can be heard here: https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2020/6/30/hfq2f42dmt74hqpkzrb1urhwx0rr38 The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the GoodLion podcast network, for more thought provoking Christian podcasts visit https://goodlion.io

If you’re ever going to step out and do something great, you’ll need to not only be good at the task at hand, but also have some skills leading people. And look, people can fickle, unreliable, self-serving and sometimes downright unpleasant. Learning to deal with the perils of leadership is not something you can master quickly, it’s more aptly developed on the job and there really is no way to know if you’ve got it all mastered.

We discuss what milestones a preacher can set during the week to accomplish a great message without compromising the scriptures in the process. We also discuss the importance of solid introductions and conclusions. Well worth your time to listen!
In this episode we discuss a recent book entitled 8 Hours or Less: Writing faithful sermons faster, by Ryan Huguley (https://www.amazon.com/Hours-Less-Writing-faithful-sermons/dp/0802415083). We also consider the nature of preaching and the life and calling of preachers.
Ryan Huguley shares a powerful framework that will empower pastors to cut their sermon prep time in half! About the Book: The clock is every pastor's nemesis. Between meetings, administration, counseling, and other duties, it's hard to find enough time for sermon prep. Unless you change the process. 8 Hours Or Less will show preachers how to write the same sermons they've been writing, but in half the time. Author Ryan Huguley reveals: The biggest time-wasters in sermon prep The five marks of a faithful sermon A day-by-day plan for writing sermons Tips for preparing your mind, heart, and notes for preaching Common pitfalls in ending a sermon And more Huguley is a pastor and the host of a podcast featuring leaders like Matt Chandler, James MacDonald, Doug Wilson, and Nancy Ortberg. What he shares in 8 Hrs or Less is a process he's been refining for six years, and it has radically improved both his preaching and experience in ministry. Why work harder when you can work smarter? 8 Hours or Less brings relief to the time crunch and helps pastors be healthier, more balanced, and more effective—all without making their sermons suffer for it. About the Author: Ryan Huguley planted Redemption Bible Church in Arlington Heights, IL in 2009 and served as lead pastor for seven years. In 2016 he accepted a call to become the senior pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel in Hickory, NC, a growing congregation of 1,000. Ryan has worked in church planting since 2001 and has a passion to help the next generation know Jesus and make Him known. He helps assess, coach, and train church planters and hosts a podcast called In the Room.
