You were never on trial — guilt, shame, and self-blame are learned illusions, not truth. In this episode of Tao Dialogues, we explore how to end guilt, shame, and self-blame by recognising a powerful truth: you are not on trial. Many of us replay the past, defending ourselves in an inner emotional courtroom shaped by childhood conditioning and the Inner Child's need to be “right.” But Taoist wisdom and wu wei (effortless effort) remind us that guilt and shame are not facts — they are emotions created from beliefs.Through the lens of Shen (your intrinsic spiritual essence) and the Golden Thread Process, we uncover how to release self-judgment, step out of emotional drama, and return to clarity, compassion, and alignment. This episode is for you if you:Struggle with guilt, regret, or shameReplay past mistakes and self-blameFeel trapped in perfectionism or people-pleasingWant emotional freedom rooted in Taoist wisdomRead the blog post that inspired this episode: https://davidjameslees.substack.com/p/empty-courtroom Our Tao Dialogues are powerful yet gentle teachings about authenticity, spirituality and finding emotional balance and flow in everyday life. Leslie continues the Steadfast Heart series with a powerful message about faith and how it impacts our emotions. In the modern Church, doubt is widely accepted - and even embraced, which can lead to a sense of despair, discouragement and even hopelessness. It can feel like an uphill battle to trust God and stand boldly on His promises when it comes to our own daily needs. Yet, the Bible makes it clear that He longs for us to give Him the opportunity to show Himself strong on our behalf. This episode challenges us to ask the question - are we willing to give Him that opportunity? For more resources from Leslie, visit https://setapart.org/. Music reaches your brain fast! It activates memory, movement, emotion, and connection in seconds. In this episode, host Dr. Krystal L. Culler, DBH, MA, sat down with Shannon Wallace, CDP, CDC, creator of Musical Memory Care to explore how music functions as a whole-brain and body workout. We focus on one powerful idea—the “time of your life” effect.Research shows the music you loved between roughly ages 13 and 27 leaves a lasting imprint. Those songs shape identity. They anchor memory. They often remain accessible even during cognitive change.Shannon shares how she moved from professional jazz vocalist to serving older adults in memory care communities. What began as singing for residents evolved into an intentional, research-informed program that integrates rhythm, movement, emotional expression, and identity support. We explore:Why time-of-life music remains accessible in dementia How music activates the limbic system and supports emotional regulation The role of rhythm in movement, including Parkinson's support Why intentional facilitation matters in memory care settings How music supports dignity, identity, and human connection Practical ways you can use music today for brain healthYou will hear real-world stories from Shannon's work in memory care. Stories of individuals who had not spoken in years yet responded to music. Stories of rhythm supporting walking and daily tasks. Stories that reinforce this truth. Music is not entertainment alone. It is a neurological tool.If you are a caregiver, clinician, or family member supporting someone with cognitive change, this conversation gives you some practical suggestions. Play their music, not yours. Use rhythm to support movement. Build playlists rooted in their adolescence and young adulthood. Why do churches with sincere faith, gifted leaders, and strong theology still split? In this powerful episode of the Emotionally Healthy Leader Podcast, Pete Scazzero exposes a hard truth many leaders have experienced but rarely name: church fractures are rarely about doctrine or vision—they are about formation.Drawing from decades of pastoral leadership and personal failure, Pete explains why spiritual maturity without emotional maturity is unsustainable. Churches don't split because people don't love Jesus. They split because leaders and communities lack the emotionally healthy skills needed to love one another well under pressure, conflict, disappointment, and power dynamics. This episode explores why skills like incarnational listening, clarifying expectations, understanding how family history shapes leadership, and engaging in clean conflict are essential for healthy culture. Pete shares stories from his own leadership journey, including a painful church split that could have been prevented if these skills had been in place. If you're a pastor or leader longing to build a church culture that thrives—not just for a season, but for generations—this episode offers wisdom, hope, and a clear next step forward.

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”The dream was simple: marry young, welcome children, and let love grow. Then biology didn't cooperate. Author and radio host Leigh Fitzpatrick Sneed joins us to unpack the hidden landscape of infertility—the grief, the pressure to “just do IVF,” the awkward silences at church, and the slow work of finding a path that honors both conscience and desire. Her story moves from clinic waiting rooms to a newborn domestic adoption that arrived in weeks, then to twins and another son, and finally to a broader truth: fruitfulness is more than pregnancy. It's the overflow of spousal love into family, parish, and community. We talk candidly about restorative reproductive medicine, the Creighton Model, and NaProTechnology—real care that seeks root causes without severing the unitive and procreative meanings of marriage. Leigh is clear-eyed: medicine can be hopeful and still hard, full of injections, surgeries, and timing that tests intimacy. Yet humor, friendship, and shared conviction can keep a couple together when the calendar takes over. We explore how to resist the glossy promises of IVF by understanding why it divides what belongs together and can treat children as products, not gifts.Purchase Infertile But Fruitful! What happens when pastors care for everyone else—but neglect their own soul? In this episode, Loren talks with Bill and Kristi Gaultiere, founders of Soul Shepherding and co-authors of Deeply Loved: Receiving and Reflecting God's Great Empathy for You. Together, they explore why emotional health is not optional for Christian leaders—and why empathy begins with receiving God's love, not just offering it to others. Drawing from decades of experience in psychology, spiritual direction, and ministry leadership, the Gaultieres unpack the difference between empathy and indulgence, how unaddressed shame leads to burnout, and why pastors must have a safe place to be listened to and prayed for. They also discuss: Why emotions are gifts—but terrible masters The danger of processing unresolved wounds from the platform Burnout warning signs every pastor should recognize Compassion fatigue and isolation in ministry Why leaders must receive pastoral care, not just provide it This conversation is a candid and practical guide for church leaders who want their ministry to flow from healing and authenticity rather than exhaustion and performance.   Bill is a psychologist (PhD) and ordained pastor and Kristi is a licensed professional counselor (PsyD). Together they lead Soul Shepherding, which is a nonprofit ministry to help pastors, leaders, churches, and others to go deeper with Jesus in emotional health and loving leadership. They lead immersive retreats that integrate Jesus-centered psychology and spiritual formation. Participants have the option to earn a Certificate in Spiritual Direction to improve their relationship skills and earn side income as a spiritual director or coach. They are authors of a number of soul care books, including Journey of the Soul, which was #1 on Amazon in Christian Counseling, and Healthy Feelings, Thriving Faith. Their newest book is Deeply Loved: Receiving and Reflecting God's Great Empathy for You. Bill and Kristi have provided over 100,000 hours helping clients in therapy or spiritual direction. They were also personally mentored by Dallas and Jane Willard for many years. They have developed a unique approach to spiritual direction that is informed by their Jesus-centered psychology. Their two-year Certificate in Spiritual Direction training program is a hybrid of in person retreats and online training (or it can be completed 100% online) and currently has over 150 students participating.    Mentioned Resources:

The Holistic Herbalism Podcast

Have you ever wished you had thorns? Have you ever felt like you needed to protect your heart, your space, your peace of mind, or your time from a world that asks too much of you – or takes without asking? You're not alone. This is what thorn medicine can bring you.Thorns aren't weapons, they're defenses. They don't seek an animal or human out with the intent to cause harm, they hold space and define boundaries. Touch me here, says the rose, but not there. Admire my flowers, says the motherwort, but don't you dare clutch my seeds. We can learn from this.We can take the medicine of thorns into ourselves. We can do this literally, not only (oh, “only”!) metaphorically or symbolically. Most all thorny herbs, and particularly the thorns themselves, carry a key herbal action: astringency. This is an action which literally pulls things together, and holds things together. Each plant's thorn is different, serving its own purpose. Hawthorn's long, widely spaced thorns evolved to counter the hungers of the giant sloth, and they retain that shape long after the lumbering herbivore went extinct: they are the living memory of a predator past. Ocotillo's inexhaustible rows of spines render it no more easy a prey than the cactus who share its landscape. Thistle spikes out from every possible surface, asserting itself in all directions as its firework flowers reach for the sky. Which thorns are yours?Pull yourself together. Hold your boundaries. Make a safe space. Then, within that thorn-walled refuge, your flowers will unfold.Thorn medicine is only one form of support herbs can offer our emotions. Our Neurological & Emotional Health course is a user's guide to your nerves, your emotions, and the herbs who can lift you, hold you, brace you, and sustain you. In this episode of Raising Serotonin, I'm opening up about emotional spirals, the kind that feel overwhelming, heavy, and hard to pull yourself out of. I share some of my own experiences with spiraling and what I've learned through therapy, self-reflection, and giving myself a little more compassion along the way, I talk about the importance of slowing down long enough to acknowledge what I'm actually feeling instead of judging it or trying to push it away. So often, my spirals weren't really about the surface issue, they were about deeper triggers that needed attention, care, and understanding. Learning to gently ask myself, “What's really going on here?” has been a powerful shift. In this conversation, I walk through some of the tools that have helped me, naming my emotions instead of shaming them, recognizing my triggers, using affirmations that feel grounding (not forced), and allowing myself to talk things through with people I trust. I've learned that healing isn't about never spiraling again, it's about knowing how to meet yourself with grace when you do.If you've ever felt caught in your thoughts or overwhelmed by your emotions, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not broken. You're human. Your feelings make sense. And you are worthy of love, patience, and support, especially from yourself. We're not trying to eliminate emotions here. In this episode, Regan Archibald breaks down why emotional health isn't “soft”—it's biochemical. He introduces the EPIC triggers (Emotions, Pain, Infections, Chemicals) and focuses on how emotions leave a measurable chemical trail that can either support health or accelerate inflammation. Using examples like anger increasing inflammatory signaling (including IL-6) and gratitude/joy supporting nitric oxide and vascular function, Regan explains how repeated emotional patterns can rewire the brain, shape immune behavior, and even override diet, exercise, and supplements if left unmanaged. The takeaway: practice the pause, choose your response, and build gratitude and connection on purpose. Consistency in emotional regulation can shift physiology toward resilience, recovery, and better long-term health.RESOURCES:Book Comprehensive Labs: https://agelessfuture.com/longevity-labs/FREE copy of The Peptide Blueprint: https://agelessfuture.com/blueprintSign up for future Health Accelerator Challenges calls LIVE! https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_YZsiUMOzSyqcE8IinC5YEQ#/registrationBooks: https://www.amazon.com/Books-Regan-Archibald/s?rh=n%3A283155%2Cp_27%3ARegan%2BArchibaldArticles: https://medium.com/search?q=Regan+ArchibaldLIKE/FOLLOW/SUBSCRIBE:YouTube -https://www.youtube.com/@ReganArchibald / https://www.youtube.com/@Ageless.FutureLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/regan-archibald-ab70b813Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ageless.future/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AgelessFutureHealth/DISCLAIMER: This video is for educational purposes only and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.  Many of the molecules discussed in this video are research compounds and are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for any specific medical use, indication, or condition. Dr. Brook Sheehan shares her powerful personal story, including growing up in a conventional medical model, her diagnosis with cerebral palsy, and her journey to becoming a chiropractor. After holding it together all day, emotions spill out in tears, frustration, or big reactions that can leave parents wondering what went wrong. With warmth and insight, Melissa explains why this “after-school unraveling” is not a sign that something is wrong at school, but often a powerful indicator of safety and trust at home. Emotional health is learning to live with a Spirit-guarded heart, where emotions are understood as information, not instructions. We cannot stop emotions from coming, but in Christ, we can choose how we respond to them in ways that protect both our hearts and the people downstream from us. Through the Spirit, we practice emotional regulation by pausing to create space, processing what we feel with truth and wisdom, and proceeding with a faithful, Spirit-led response. God meets us in this work, not to shame us for our emotions, but to lead us toward a life that is fully healthy and fully alive.

Send us a textWe all have an inner dialogue. But how often do we lead it?In this episode of Think Again & Be, we explore the biblical practice of speaking to the soul—training the inner voice to align with truth, faith, and joy rather than fear, anxiety, or circumstance.Building on the previous episode Thanksgiving by Faith, this conversation looks at how faith is voice-activated, how joy is cultivated from the inside out, and why Scripture repeatedly shows God's people talking to themselves before they speak to the world. From David encouraging himself in the Lord, to Jeremiah finding hope in the darkest moment, to Habakkuk choosing joy before the harvest, we see that transformation often begins with rightful self-talk.This episode is an invitation to reclaim your inner voice— to speak faith, remember truth, and create an atmosphere of joy that sustains life.Scriptures ReferencedPsalm 42:5; 43:5Lamentations 3:241 Samuel 30:6Habakkuk 3:16–19Psalm 91:2Joel 3:10Philemon 1:6–7Key ThemesFaith is voice-activatedSpeaking to the soulJoy as an atmosphere, not a moodAnxiety is not your identityTraining the inner voiceThanksgiving, praise, and joy as a cycleGet Your Hopes Up!@damiteninwww.bydami.comwww.tribalmarks.com

Procrastination isn't laziness — it's a signal calling you back to stillness, clarity, and aligned action. In this episode of Tao Dialogues, we explore the stillness before action — a Taoist approach to ending procrastination and perfectionism without force, pressure, or self-criticism.Rather than pushing yourself forward, this teaching invites you inward — to the sacred pause where Shen (inner wisdom and clarity) aligns and true action is born. We uncover how procrastination often arises from the Inner Child's need for safety, not a lack of discipline, and how wu wei (effortless effort) restores natural momentum. You'll learn how to:Stop fighting procrastination and listen to its messageRelease perfectionism without lowering your standardsUse stillness as preparation, not avoidanceTake aligned action that flows from truth, not fearRead the blog post that inspired this episode: https://davidjameslees.substack.com/p/shifting-the-storyOur Tao Dialogues are powerful yet gentle teachings about authenticity, spirituality and finding emotional balance and flow in everyday life. Send us a textA quiet lie can steer a whole life. We sat down with Pastor Gary Thomas, author of Living the Life You Were Reborn to Live: Dismantling 12 Lies That Rob Your Intimacy with God, to name the deceptions that slip into our thinking, even inside church walls, and to rebuild a vision of intimacy with God that can weather real storms. From the first moments, we trace how distraction has become the pattern of our age and why a renewed mind is the only way back to delight, trust, and fruitful obedience.Gary takes us behind his new book and the intentional choice of the word “dismantling”—a call to active agency in pulling down structures that block spiritual growth. We explore how small, untested myths shape daily choices, then map that insight onto spiritual half-truths that leave us frustrated with God. The conversation turns tender and bold when we address “family first.” Jesus warned that allegiance to him can divide households; anchoring identity in the Father's love frees us from chasing validation in our children's responses and equips us to love without bargaining. That shift releases unnecessary shame and restores the courage to hold truth with humility. We also dive into control and the lost art of spiritual adventure. When we surrender outcomes and stay alert to the Spirit's movement, God often uses surprising agents to answer our prayers. Finally, we reframe peace. It isn't situational—stacked on health, money, and harmony—but relational, grounded in the presence of Christ who holds us when the house shakes. If fear imagines futures without God, peace remembers who is with us right now. If this conversation helped you see your life and faith with fresh eyes, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.Follow Gary Thomas on Instagram: Gary Thomas BooksVisit Gary's Website: Gary Thomas Get the shownotes: SHOWNOTESSupport the showBegin Your Heartlifter's Journey: Support the show: Your Donation Matters Leave a review and rate the podcast: WRITE A REVIEW Make a tax-deductible donation through Heartlift International Visit and subscribe to Heartlift Central on Substack. Do you feel heavier, more tired, or spiritually foggy during the darker winter months?  Let's talk honestly about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), what's actually happening in your body, how reduced light affects your emotions and motivation, and why this struggle doesn't mean your faith is weak. Seasonal Affective Disorder doesn't always announce itself clearly. For many women, it shows up quietly, through lower energy, emotional heaviness, irritability, foggy thinking, or a sense of spiritual distance they can't quite explain. In this episode, I wanted to make this real and human by sharing stories from three women, Chrissie, Melody, and Beth, whose experiences reveal how differently Seasonal Affective Disorder can affect emotions, energy, and faith, especially in darker seasons. This conversation isn't about diagnosing yourself or forcing solutions. It's about understanding what darkness does to the body and nervous system, and how God meets us with compassion instead of shame. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: [00:00] Why Seasonal Affective Disorder Is Real and Why It Affects So Many Women [04:00] What Is Seasonal Affective Disorder and How Does Reduced Light Impact Emotions and Energy? [08:00] Why Does Winter Darkness Affect Motivation, Mood, and Spiritual Clarity? [12:00] How Different Women Experience SAD in Unique Emotional and Physical Ways [17:00] Why Experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder Doesn't Mean Your Faith Is Weak [18:00] How Can SAD Be Reframed as a “Wilderness Season” Instead of a Personal Failure? [22:00] How God Uses Darker Seasons to Invite Deeper Awareness and Growth [23:00] Using the A.D.D. What if anxiety, mood swings, and low resilience aren't starting in your mind—but in your gut?In this episode of the Choose 2 Think Inspirational Podcast, host Victoria welcomes Gabe Dough, serial entrepreneur and gut health expert from Good Bru, for a powerful conversation on the brain–gut connection and why the microbiome plays a primary role in mental, emotional, and physical health.Gabe explains why the gut is often called the “second brain,” detailing how its vast network of neurons and its communication with the brain through the vagus nerve influence mood, cognitive function, stress response, and overall nervous system health. Together, Victoria and Gabe unpack how the microbiome helps produce key neurotransmitters like serotonin, regulates inflammation, and impacts digestion, immunity, and hormone balance.Throughout the episode, Gabe shares practical insights on how everyday lifestyle choices—especially diet, fiber intake, exercise, and stress—shape the health of the gut microbiome. He also clarifies the difference between helpful and harmful fibers, explains the role of prebiotics and probiotics, and highlights why many people experience worsened symptoms when gut health is overlooked. The conversation concludes with five practical actions listeners can take to begin supporting their gut health immediately, reinforcing a holistic, whole-body approach to wellness. This episode is a clear reminder that when we care for the gut, we support the brain—and when we support the brain, we strengthen the entire body. The gut functions as a “second brain,” influencing mood, cognition, and emotional regulationSerotonin is primarily produced in the gut and plays a major role in mental well-beingGut dysbiosis can increase inflammation, anxiety, and stress sensitivityLifestyle choices—diet, fiber, exercise, and stress—directly affect the microbiomeSupporting gut health is essential for holistic mental and physical wellness00:00 Introduction to the Brain–Gut Connection15:04 How Gut Health Impacts Mental Health20:45 Dysbiosis and Its Consequences26:22 Gut Health and Chronic Disease31:03 Holistic Health: The Body–Mind Connection42:35 Prebiotics vs. Probiotics Explained49:22 Introducing GoodBru and Gut Support54:15 OutroVisit www.goodbru.com and use the promo code CHOOSE2THINK for 10% off your first order! When we're in survival, we have a limited ability to look outward and love well. Josh and Christi share what we need to love well, talk about being victims of parenthood, and discuss very practical ways to move from "survival mode" to order and love. Time Stamps:0:00 Introduction to a new season2:43 Calling back to order that which feels disordered9:00 Upcoming guests on Season 7 of “Loving Well”10:11 The foundation of loving well16:56 Are we victims of parenthood?27:42 We are what we focus on33:00 Ways to work through “survival mode” and lead your family into order and love40:45 Ways to love your spouse well Show Notes: To download the Famous at Home app from Apple, click here. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/famous-at-home/id6502221394 To download the Famous at Home app from Google Play, click here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kj2147486660.app2&hl=en_US Want a marriage you love?
