In this episode of Raising Serotonin, I'm opening up about emotional spirals, the kind that feel overwhelming, heavy, and hard to pull yourself out of. I share some of my own experiences with spiraling and what I've learned through therapy, self-reflection, and giving myself a little more compassion along the way, I talk about the importance of slowing down long enough to acknowledge what I'm actually feeling instead of judging it or trying to push it away. So often, my spirals weren't really about the surface issue, they were about deeper triggers that needed attention, care, and understanding. Learning to gently ask myself, “What's really going on here?” has been a powerful shift. In this conversation, I walk through some of the tools that have helped me, naming my emotions instead of shaming them, recognizing my triggers, using affirmations that feel grounding (not forced), and allowing myself to talk things through with people I trust. I've learned that healing isn't about never spiraling again, it's about knowing how to meet yourself with grace when you do.If you've ever felt caught in your thoughts or overwhelmed by your emotions, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not broken. You're human. Your feelings make sense. And you are worthy of love, patience, and support, especially from yourself. We're not trying to eliminate emotions here. We're learning how to hold them with care.Get your Raising Serotonin Merch here! FOLLOW RAISING SEROTONIN ON INSTAGRAM HERE Support the show

Send a textEver feel the ground shift under your feet and wonder how to keep standing? We sit down with author and pastor Courtney Ellis, author of Looking Up: A Birder's Guide to Hope Through Grief, to explore a surprising guide to hope: birds. From mockingbirds that remix the sounds of the neighborhood to sparrows that sing through storms, we unpack how creation itself teaches us to live with uncertainty, grieve honestly, and find rest without checking out of real life.Courtney shares why not knowing can be merciful, especially when our brains crave a full map we're not built to carry. We talk about spiritual practices that keep us present—taking the next small step, looking up instead of spiraling, and honoring the quiet work that rarely trends. Sparrows become a lens for ordinary dignity in a world chasing peacock shine and platform pressure. If you've ever felt invisible, her reminder that “God sees” lands like water in dry soil. This is a warm, grounded conversation for anyone navigating grief, change, or the relentless hum of “do more.” If you're craving presence over performance, mercy over mastery, and a faith sturdy enough for uncertain days, press play. Do you ever get home from work exhausted… but then your brain won't stop replaying everything that happened? In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Guy Winch — psychologist, bestselling author, and the speaker behind one of the most-watched TED Talks on emotional first aid — to explain what's really happening when you “can't switch off”… and why that mental spiral is basically unpaid overtime. We break down why your mind treats rumination like you're still at work, how that quietly fuels burnout, and the practical ways to “fight back” — including a simple transition ritual that helps you shift out of work mode and actually recover (even if you're not physically tired). This episode will help you change your life by changing your mind, so you can stop doing mental overtime after work — and get your evenings (and your relationships) back.Dr. Guy Winch is a licensed psychologist and author of Mind Over Grind: How to Break Free When Work Hijacks Your Life and Emotional First Aid.-Timestamps: (00:00) Introduction(01:08) The Illusion of Physical Exhaustion(02:53) Ruminating on Work Issues(05:58) The Impact of Overworking(08:10) Neglecting Self-Care(09:52) The Importance of Emotional Health(11:41) The Rise of Mental Health Awareness(13:16) Practical Tools for Mental Well-being(14:03) Introduction to the Free Masterclass(14:33) Guest Introduction and Background(15:03) The Psychology of Rejection(17:05) Managing Mental Resources(19:15) New Book: Mind Over Grind(23:02) The Trap of Overworking(26:36) Defining Success Beyond Professional Achievements(27:25) Balancing Work and Personal Life(29:05) The Illusion of Social Media Success(34:32) The Importance of Transition Rituals(39:13) Feeling Stuck: How to Reframe Your Story(45:38) Final Thoughts and AdviceGet the FREE Move Your Mind Masterclass here:go.nickbracks.com/moveyourmindAccess FREE Move Your Mind training here:https://go.moveyourmind.io/trainingConnect with Nick:Instagram: https://instagram.com/nickbracksWebsite: http://nickbracks.comEmail: contact@nickbracks.comConnect with Dr. Guy:Website: https://www.guywinch.com/Check out his Book: https://www.guywinch.com/books/mind-over-grind/ Hosted on Acast. In this episode, Regan Archibald breaks down why emotional health isn't “soft”—it's biochemical. He introduces the EPIC triggers (Emotions, Pain, Infections, Chemicals) and focuses on how emotions leave a measurable chemical trail that can either support health or accelerate inflammation. Using examples like anger increasing inflammatory signaling (including IL-6) and gratitude/joy supporting nitric oxide and vascular function, Regan explains how repeated emotional patterns can rewire the brain, shape immune behavior, and even override diet, exercise, and supplements if left unmanaged. The takeaway: practice the pause, choose your response, and build gratitude and connection on purpose. Consistency in emotional regulation can shift physiology toward resilience, recovery, and better long-term health.RESOURCES:Book Comprehensive Labs: https://agelessfuture.com/longevity-labs/FREE copy of The Peptide Blueprint: https://agelessfuture.com/blueprintSign up for future Health Accelerator Challenges calls LIVE! https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_YZsiUMOzSyqcE8IinC5YEQ#/registrationBooks: https://www.amazon.com/Books-Regan-Archibald/s?rh=n%3A283155%2Cp_27%3ARegan%2BArchibaldArticles: https://medium.com/search?q=Regan+ArchibaldLIKE/FOLLOW/SUBSCRIBE:YouTube -https://www.youtube.com/@ReganArchibald / https://www.youtube.com/@Ageless.FutureLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/regan-archibald-ab70b813Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ageless.future/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AgelessFutureHealth/DISCLAIMER: This video is for educational purposes only and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Welcome to Raising Confident Girls. In this episode, Melissa Jones unpacks a familiar but often puzzling moment for parents—when girls come home from school and completely fall apart. After holding it together all day, emotions spill out in tears, frustration, or big reactions that can leave parents wondering what went wrong. With warmth and insight, Melissa explains why this “after-school unraveling” is not a sign that something is wrong at school, but often a powerful indicator of safety and trust at home. She explores how girls manage emotional pressure throughout the day and why home becomes the place where they finally feel free to release it all.Melissa also shares practical, compassionate strategies to help parents respond to these emotional outbursts in ways that support connection rather than shutting feelings down. By understanding what's underneath the behavior, parents can create an environment where girls feel seen, supported, and emotionally secure. In this episode, we discuss:Why girls often unravel emotionally at home after schoolHow emotional release can be a sign of safety and trustWhat's really happening beneath after-school meltdownsCommon mistakes parents make when responding to emotional outburstsHow to create a safe space for emotional expressionPractical strategies to respond with empathy, calm, and confidenceJoin Melissa for this reassuring and eye-opening conversation that reframes after-school emotional meltdowns as meaningful moments—opportunities to strengthen trust, deepen connection, and support girls as they learn to understand and express their feelings.Download the Quick Tips PDF of today's episode for future reference. If you know a parent who could benefit from this conversation, share this episode with them! So many women are functioning in hidden burnout. Still showing up and serving. Still carrying responsibility. Still faithfully asking God for strength and trying to do the right things. And… still feeling depleted. This episode is really about one simple but honest question: why am I resting, but still exhausted? Not because we don't believe in rest. Not because we don't value it. Emotional health is learning to live with a Spirit-guarded heart, where emotions are understood as information, not instructions. We cannot stop emotions from coming, but in Christ, we can choose how we respond to them in ways that protect both our hearts and the people downstream from us. Through the Spirit, we practice emotional regulation by pausing to create space, processing what we feel with truth and wisdom, and proceeding with a faithful, Spirit-led response. God meets us in this work, not to shame us for our emotions, but to lead us toward a life that is fully healthy and fully alive.

Pete Stevenson shares his personal journey with cancer, initially following conventional treatments but later exploring holistic approaches after his oncologists dismissed alternative medicine. Despite skepticism, he attended the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego, where he experienced significant improvements in his health after six weeks. A pivotal moment came when he challenged his self-limiting belief about dying from cancer, realizing there were multiple possible outcomes. This shift in perspective led him to continue experimenting with holistic methods, which he credits with helping him regain his health.Key takeawaysPete Stevenson was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and recovered through a combination of conventional medicine and holistic approachesAfter conventional treatments (chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy) failed, Pete found healing through alternative medicine focusing on diet, mental health, stress management, and addressing traumaPete founded Evolve Health to help cancer patients navigate their healing journey with a comprehensive approach covering medical treatment, emotional/mental health, spiritual practice, financial stability, logistics, and community supportThere are numerous resources available for cancer patients including grants, disability benefits, and support services that many patients don't know aboutPete emphasizes that healing requires addressing root causes rather than just symptoms, and that patients have more agency in their healing than they're often toldPete encourages listeners to explore all healing options, trust their bodies, and maintain hope, as recovery from cancer is possible with the right combination of treatments and lifestyle changes. Send us a textWe all have an inner dialogue. But how often do we lead it?In this episode of Think Again & Be, we explore the biblical practice of speaking to the soul—training the inner voice to align with truth, faith, and joy rather than fear, anxiety, or circumstance.Building on the previous episode Thanksgiving by Faith, this conversation looks at how faith is voice-activated, how joy is cultivated from the inside out, and why Scripture repeatedly shows God's people talking to themselves before they speak to the world. From David encouraging himself in the Lord, to Jeremiah finding hope in the darkest moment, to Habakkuk choosing joy before the harvest, we see that transformation often begins with rightful self-talk.This episode is an invitation to reclaim your inner voice— to speak faith, remember truth, and create an atmosphere of joy that sustains life.Scriptures ReferencedPsalm 42:5; 43:5Lamentations 3:241 Samuel 30:6Habakkuk 3:16–19Psalm 91:2Joel 3:10Philemon 1:6–7Key ThemesFaith is voice-activatedSpeaking to the soulJoy as an atmosphere, not a moodAnxiety is not your identityTraining the inner voiceThanksgiving, praise, and joy as a cycleGet Your Hopes Up!@damiteninwww.bydami.comwww.tribalmarks.com
Procrastination isn't laziness — it's a signal calling you back to stillness, clarity, and aligned action. In this episode of Tao Dialogues, we explore the stillness before action — a Taoist approach to ending procrastination and perfectionism without force, pressure, or self-criticism.Rather than pushing yourself forward, this teaching invites you inward — to the sacred pause where Shen (inner wisdom and clarity) aligns and true action is born. We uncover how procrastination often arises from the Inner Child's need for safety, not a lack of discipline, and how wu wei (effortless effort) restores natural momentum. You'll learn how to:Stop fighting procrastination and listen to its messageRelease perfectionism without lowering your standardsUse stillness as preparation, not avoidanceTake aligned action that flows from truth, not fearRead the blog post that inspired this episode: https://davidjameslees.substack.com/p/shifting-the-storyOur Tao Dialogues are powerful yet gentle teachings about authenticity, spirituality and finding emotional balance and flow in everyday life. What if self-love wasn't something we had to earn, but something we were born with? In this heartfelt conversation, Michelle Baer, author of Heart Full of Love and Heart Full of Empathy, joins Gill Tiney to explore children's emotional wellbeing, intrinsic self-worth, empathy, and the power of purpose-driven storytelling. Michelle shares how observing her granddaughter sparked a realization: children are born whole, loving, and confident, until societal labels and external validation begin to erode that truth. The episode dives into why nurturing self-love and empathy early in life is essential, especially in a world shaped by comparison, pressure, and digital influence. Michelle explains how her books gently address complex topics such as mental health, parental imprisonment, physical differences, and non-traditional identities, without shame, judgment, or fear, creating safe emotional spaces for both children and parents. Beyond the message, Michelle opens up about the realities of publishing a book, from the cathartic act of writing to the practical challenges of editing, illustrating, self-publishing, and marketing. She highlights the importance of collaboration, community support, and asking for help when bringing creative ideas into the world.Together, Gill and Michelle reflect on why these books resonate just as deeply with adults as they do with children, the role schools and educators play in emotional development, and why helping young people pursue what lights them up, sports, arts, or creative passions, builds confidence, belonging, and resilience. This episode is a reminder that love and empathy are not soft skills, they are life skills.
Send us a textA quiet lie can steer a whole life. We sat down with Pastor Gary Thomas, author of Living the Life You Were Reborn to Live: Dismantling 12 Lies That Rob Your Intimacy with God, to name the deceptions that slip into our thinking, even inside church walls, and to rebuild a vision of intimacy with God that can weather real storms. From the first moments, we trace how distraction has become the pattern of our age and why a renewed mind is the only way back to delight, trust, and fruitful obedience.Gary takes us behind his new book and the intentional choice of the word “dismantling”—a call to active agency in pulling down structures that block spiritual growth. We explore how small, untested myths shape daily choices, then map that insight onto spiritual half-truths that leave us frustrated with God. The conversation turns tender and bold when we address “family first.” Jesus warned that allegiance to him can divide households; anchoring identity in the Father's love frees us from chasing validation in our children's responses and equips us to love without bargaining. That shift releases unnecessary shame and restores the courage to hold truth with humility. We also dive into control and the lost art of spiritual adventure. When we surrender outcomes and stay alert to the Spirit's movement, God often uses surprising agents to answer our prayers. Finally, we reframe peace. It isn't situational—stacked on health, money, and harmony—but relational, grounded in the presence of Christ who holds us when the house shakes. If fear imagines futures without God, peace remembers who is with us right now. What if anxiety, mood swings, and low resilience aren't starting in your mind—but in your gut?In this episode of the Choose 2 Think Inspirational Podcast, host Victoria welcomes Gabe Dough, serial entrepreneur and gut health expert from Good Bru, for a powerful conversation on the brain–gut connection and why the microbiome plays a primary role in mental, emotional, and physical health.Gabe explains why the gut is often called the “second brain,” detailing how its vast network of neurons and its communication with the brain through the vagus nerve influence mood, cognitive function, stress response, and overall nervous system health. Together, Victoria and Gabe unpack how the microbiome helps produce key neurotransmitters like serotonin, regulates inflammation, and impacts digestion, immunity, and hormone balance.Throughout the episode, Gabe shares practical insights on how everyday lifestyle choices—especially diet, fiber intake, exercise, and stress—shape the health of the gut microbiome. He also clarifies the difference between helpful and harmful fibers, explains the role of prebiotics and probiotics, and highlights why many people experience worsened symptoms when gut health is overlooked. The conversation concludes with five practical actions listeners can take to begin supporting their gut health immediately, reinforcing a holistic, whole-body approach to wellness. This episode is a clear reminder that when we care for the gut, we support the brain—and when we support the brain, we strengthen the entire body. The gut functions as a “second brain,” influencing mood, cognition, and emotional regulationSerotonin is primarily produced in the gut and plays a major role in mental well-beingGut dysbiosis can increase inflammation, anxiety, and stress sensitivityLifestyle choices—diet, fiber, exercise, and stress—directly affect the microbiomeSupporting gut health is essential for holistic mental and physical wellness00:00 Introduction to the Brain–Gut Connection15:04 How Gut Health Impacts Mental Health20:45 Dysbiosis and Its Consequences26:22 Gut Health and Chronic Disease31:03 Holistic Health: The Body–Mind Connection42:35 Prebiotics vs. Probiotics Explained49:22 Introducing GoodBru and Gut Support54:15 OutroVisit www.goodbru.com and use the promo code CHOOSE2THINK for 10% off your first order! In this deeply personal and hope-filled episode of the Choose to Think Inspirational Podcast, Victoria invites listeners into an honest conversation about self-control, grief, surrender, and the quiet exhaustion that comes from trying to do life in our own strength.Drawing from her own experiences—memories of her father, moments of self-pity, struggles with temptation, and the pressure of performance—Victoria explores what it truly means to be a vessel for God's love rather than the source of it. She unpacks how striving hardens the heart and exhausts the mind, while surrender opens the door to healing, restoration, and renewed joy.Blending Scripture, lived wisdom, and accessible brain science, this episode gently reframes failure—not as disqualification, but as a place where God's grace can flow most freely. Victoria reminds us that our worth is not earned through achievement, that brokenness does not cancel calling, and that humility and accountability are powerful pathways to emotional and spiritual healing. The episode closes with a heartfelt prayer and an invitation to step out of self-reliance and into the steady, sustaining presence of God.Self-control is a lifelong journey, not a finish lineGrief often surfaces through memories and emotional triggersSurrender interrupts self-pity and restores clarity and peaceAwareness of our thoughts is the first step toward renewalWe are vessels for God's love—not the source of itOur worth is rooted in who we are, not what we doFailure does not disqualify us; it can deepen our capacity to loveBrokenness can become part of our beauty and testimonyGod's grace is always available, even after serious mistakesHumility and accountability are essential for emotional healing00:00 – Introduction & Personal Reflections03:13 – Navigating Grief and Memories06:02 – Self-Pity and Spiritual Growth09:15 – The Struggle with Self-Control12:00 – Surrendering to God's Will14:38 – Being a Vessel for God's Love19:09 – Understanding Our Worth23:13 – Performance vs. Purpose26:00 – Embracing Failure and Grace28:55 – Closing Reflections and Prayer34:26 – Outro

On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared introduces a refined Emotional Vitality format and tackles one of the most common struggles in modern life: overwhelm. Rather than being a mindset failure or lack of willpower, overwhelm is explained as a nervous system state—specifically a freeze response driven by brain chemistry and stress signaling. Jared breaks down what's happening neurologically, why procrastination is often protection, and how clarity and motivation shut down under chronic stress. You'll learn practical, science-grounded tools to regulate your nervous system through simple physical actions, breathing, language shifts, and small, specific steps that restore agency. Supplement support like magnesium, ashwagandha, L-theanine, and B vitamins is discussed as supportive—not corrective—tools. This episode is about skill-building, self-leadership, and learning how to move forward when life feels heavy.Products:Magnesium BisglycinateUltimate Vitality MultiActive B ComplexAnxiety ReleaseSensoril AshwagandhaL-TheanineVitality Radio POW!
