Week 15 of our series “Seeking after God's Own Heart” as we read through 1 Samuel. Sermon recorded February 19th, 2023 Lead Pastor Bob Flayhart Preaching at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL.
Dear God, please fill my heart with the love of Christ. Let this love constrain my heart. Give me grace to obey, to repent when I err and the power to never go back to where you are leading me from. Amen
The law of God, being a revelation of His will, a transcript of His character, must forever endure and are done in truth and uprightness. Psm. 111:7,8
I will instruct the and teach thee in the way which though shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. - Psalm 32:8
For this is what the Lord has commanded us: 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth' - Acts 13:47
The Sinless One pities the weakness of the sinner... Men hate the sinner, while they love the sin. Christ hates the sin, but loves the sinner. This will be the spirit of all who seek to find and follow after God.
The idea if Christian character is Christlikeness. As the Son of man was perfect in His life, so His followers are to be perfect in their life.... He bids us by faith in Him attain to the glory of the character of God. Claim the promise of Jude vs 24 today!
The love of God is beyond that which any language can describe. None can fully comprehend the length, breadth, depth or the height of the love of God in giving His Son to die for the world. Eternity itself can never fully reveal it. Yet as we study the bible and meditate upon the life of Christ and the plan of redemption, these great themes will open to our understanding more and more.
God is a God of truth. Justice and mercy are the attributes of His throne. He is a God of love, of pity and tender compassion. He is a God of patience and long suffering. If such is the Being whom we adore and to whose character we are seeking to assimilate, we are worshiping the true God.
The greatest victories to the church of Christ or to the individual Christian, are not those that are gained by talent or education, by wealth, or the favor of men. They are those victories that are gained in the audience chamber with God.
Week 14 of our series “Seeking after God's Own Heart” as we read through 1 Samuel. Sermon recorded February 5th, 2023 Lead Pastor Bob Flayhart Preaching at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL.
The soul that turns to God for it's help, it's support, it's power, by daily earnest prayer, will have noble aspirations, clear perceptions of truth and duty, lofty purposes of action, and a continual hungering and thirsting after righteousness. - Ellen White
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you - John 15:7
My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me... I will give them eternal life; they shall never perish - John 10: 27, 28
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth - Isaiah 40: 26
And ye shall seek me and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I 6be found of you, saith the Lord - Jeremiah 29:13, 14

Week 2 of our series “Seeking after God's Own Heart” as we read through 1 Samuel. Bob concluded his sermon by announcing his plan to transition out of his role as Lead Pastor at OMPC. He will be transitioning into “redeployment” in a new role focused on discipleship here at OMPC and around the world! This transition has been on his heart for many years now and has involved input and wisdom from the Session, a Transition Team, and professional consultants who have provided guidance and leadership leading up to this announcement today. Both Bob and the Session agree that now is the time to share this with the congregation as we begin the search for our next Lead Pastor who will officially transition into the role effective January 2024. Please take a moment to visit ompc.org/transition to watch a video message from Bob, and to celebrate all God has done and is doing at OMPC and through Bob in his transition to redeployment! The congregation will continue to be updated throughout the process while a timeline is available for review on the Transition page. David Jacob serves as the missionary in residence and chair of the intercultural studies department at Trinity Bible College and Graduate School in Ellendale, ND. He is also the author of It's Your Call: To a Missional or Missionary Life. Today, David shares his calling to the mission field, wrestling with God's silence, and the burning desire that led him to the classroom. Along the way, we discuss why our mission is to pursue the Lord not merely the next step he wants us to take. David's story reminds us that if we will trust the Lord, he will make the path straight. Listen to David's story now! Stories David shared: What it's like being a missionary in residence Growing up in a nominal Christian family going to church on the bus Rededicated his life at a Wednesday night group Discipleship with his youth pastor Becoming the midwest director of Operation Christmas Child Wrestling with God's silence while he sensed a call for more The vision he had of Jesus in the car with him Starting to sense God's call to Asia Fundraising as ministry for missionaries Learning to depend on the Lord in a foreign culture The desire to teach introduction to missions Why he wrote It's Your Call: To a Missional or Missionary Life Great quotes from David: God, I don't understand why you're not speaking. I have been seeking God's will instead of God himself. Fundraising and speaking to other Christians…is an incredible privilege to promote the cause of missions and God's Kingdom. Every believer has a role to play in the Great Commission.
