Negative Nease is solo this week to recap yet another loss to Florida while looking ahead at the Missouri game. We'll also take a look at China Virus numbers since the Bowling Green game, UT backing out of the Army game and where Negative Nease will be this weekend.
On today's show we recap a 30-17 Vikings win over the Seahawks to get to 1-2 on the season. We talk Gopher football and the horrendous loss to Bowling Green as 31 point favorites. We talk Timberwolves and the shaky start for the new ownership having to fire President of Basketball Operations - Gersson Rosas just a few days before training camp. We wrap the show with a look back at the Ryder Cup and the historically dominate win for the US.
Minnesota Timberwolves scoops on Karl-Anthony Towns, behind the scenes of Gersson Rosas' dismissal; (17:30) Sachin Gupta taking over as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations; (25:00) Gopher football debacle against Bowling Green and more on a scoop with Doogie!
Introduction: It's Tuesday Morning Nickelback time, starting with Andrew Krammer's film review. Krammer joins host Michael Rand for a look back at the Vikings' 30-17 victory over Seattle and how new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme is doing a good job at helping the team's offensive line and Kirk Cousins be comfortable. Getting the ball out quickly and keeping defenses guessing have been staples of their success so far, as have route combinations that clearly confused Seattle on Sunday. 10:00: Keith Richotte Jr. joins the show for My Least Favorite Team is My Favorite Team, which was suddenly positive for a change. It sure didn't look that way when the Vikings trailed Seattle 17-7, but 23 consecutive points on Sunday changed the narrative on the season quickly. While Richotte is still predicting nothing more than an up-and-down year, at least a win is a win. 23:00: Gophers football beat writer Randy Johnson joins the show to try to explain to Rand just what happened at Huntington Bank Stadium on Saturday when Minnesota -- a 30.5 point favorite -- somehow lost to Bowling Green 14-10. What does the loss tell us about QB Tanner Morgan? And can the Gophers pick up the pieces and move forward?
Chris Williams, Andrew Downs and Erick Zamora start the hour talking about the great finish in Major League Baseball, particularly in the National League as all three of their teams are in the hunt. The 4 at 4 covers Iowa and Maryland, Iowa State vs Kansas and the paradox that is Nebraska. It also looks back at Tim Tebow 13 years ago to the day and compares that to Kyrie Irving. The guys also get into a conversation about when players' efforts get questioned. Then the Des Moines Register's Chad Leistikow joins the program to talk all things Big Ten including Minnesota losing to Bowling Green and Nebraska getting better but still not winning. Williams and Zamora chat about the pulse of sports in Minnesota and to end the hour there's a big listener backlash to comments about Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, New Kids on the Block and former members.
Dylan recaps the Packers thrilling win, the Vikings taking their home opener, and the Falcons getting into the win column. Who's is the best team in the NFL right now? Breaking down how BC will take out Clemson in Death Valley this Saturday night. The Gophers lost to Bowling Green at home on Homecoming. The Minnesota Lynx lose in WNBA Second Round by 13, despite being almost 5 pt favorites. USA blasts Europe for the Ryder Cup. Are the St. Louis Cardinals destined to win the pennant?
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has put himself in the MVP conversation through the first three games; The defense needing to bending and not break; Mike Zimmer getting a big win; Mark Sanchez LOVING himself some Kirk Cousins; Justin Jefferson having a big day; The Gopher football team laying an EGG against Bowling Green!; (34:00) Randy Vikes 69 *STUD* stable after the Vikings win!
Host Michael Rand is joined by Star Tribune columnist Patrick Reusse for a look back at another unpredictable and packed weekend of Minnesota sports. We didn't expect to lead the show with Gophers vs. Bowling Green, but when the home team loses 14-10 as a 30.5-point favorite things change. Minnesota was beyond flat on offense, made multiple special teams miscues and drew little inspiration from coach P.J. Fleck -- whose in-game decisions were questionable as well -- in the shocking defeat. On the flip side, the Vikings won their first game of the season in impressive fashion, scoring the final 23 points against Seattle in a 30-17 victory. Good blocking. One of Kirk Cousins' best games. A defense that shut out Seattle after a shaky start. And solid special teams. Those are not things the Vikings have come to count on since the start of last season, but they were in full supply as the Vikings finally defeated Russell Wilson. Plus: The Lynx were knocked out of the playoffs far more quickly than they would have liked, losing 89-76 to Chicago in Sunday's single elimination quarterfinal playoff game. And the Twins managed to help the Yankees in the playoffs, even in this year.
-Wisconsin went from a 3-point lead early 4th quarter to getting blown out, 41-13, by Notre Dame, with 2 late pick 6s from Graham Mertz (4 INTs on the day, total) leading to the blowout score -Also…what the hell, Minnesota? The Gophers came in as a 31.5 point favorite over visiting Bowling Green…and they lost […]
The guys got together to recap an extremely eventful and meaningful Week 4 of ACC action including: NC State put Clemson out of its misery with a 27-21 victory in overtime, handing the Tigers their first loss to an unranked team in four years...where do these teams go from here, and what does this mean for the rest of the conference. Georgia Tech put a solid beatdown on North Carolina in the second half, giving Geoff Collins his first win over a ranked opponent as the Yellow Jackets' head coach. Is this just one good performance, or a sign that Georgia Tech is turning a corner? Also, what's wrong with North Carolina? Boston College and Syracuse both got major upset out-of-conference wins this weekend -- should we be reconsidering how we view those teams? After a dominant win over Virginia...is Wake Forest the best team in the ACC? Plus, we recap Bowling Green's enormous upset over Minnesota, give out weekly awards, have a few questions about the ACC moving forward, and MORE! Use promo code "GOACC" for 10% off your first order of premium, great-looking, officially-logo'd Georgia Tech gear at Section103.com! Rate and subscribe on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. If we would have told you that four games into the season Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland and Penn State would all be 4-0 you wouldn't believe me. Add to that, Wisconsin being 1-2 & Indiana being 2-2 and you would think I was inebriated. Well that's exactly where we stand 1/3 of the way through the Big Ten season. No one expected this, and if you did congrats you should play the lottery you would be a rich man or woman. In this episode Dante and I try to figure out who is actually good in the Big Ten. We talk about Minnesota getting upset, Wisconsin losing their identity and Ohio State finding some conference against Akron. Is Michigan actually a good team? How legit is Penn State? What did OSU gain from beating up on Akron? We're not sure but what we do know is next week we're going to learn a lot more about the Big Ten In their weekly pit stops Jordan celebrates Clemson losing and Oklahoma not looking great. The media got it wrong about which team of the three was in the worst position. Dante talks about Bowling Green upsetting Minnesota and they make plans to watch Kent State vs. Bowling Green at Kent's homecoming next weekend. Learn more about your ad choices. Well it's official. The Gophers seem to be at least an ok/good football team. The weeks to come (ok, not this week but the B1G schedule) will determine if they can be closer to great or not. We spend this week's Pahd reflecting on a fantastic road trip to Colorado, and laughing at those teams less fortunate than Minnesota. We also celebrate volleyball, cross country, and the return of FIVE GOAL CULVERS before taking a look at what should be an overmatched opponent in Bowling Green this weekend. Steve Johnson and Edmund Richardson join host Brian Lohnes on this episode of the NHRA Insider Podcast. Johnson after a stunning triumph at the Countdown Opening event at Maple Grove Raceway and Richardson after a larger-than-life reentry into NHRA sportsman racing with victories in consecutive weeks at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and the Dodge SRT US Nationals. Steve Johnson is introspective and analytical about not only his win in Maple Grove but the arc of his career in NHRA drag racing. It is a career that thus far has not yielded a championship but this year he is sitting on the best equipment he has ever had and feels as though he is a legitimate contender. The results back this assertion up. Johnson talks about his mistakes, his growth, and how he has taken the points lead in pro stock motorcycle. Edmund Richardson is one of the greatest sportsman drag racers ever. After some time away from the sport he has back. His confidence high and his attitude highly positive. The man is having fun and plans to race for championships on the divisional and national level. The man who has done it all has goals and we're all going to get to watch him try and make them happen. Two great chats on this episode of the Insider!
