Originally from the United Kingdom, Kutski began his career as a DJ on the iconic BBC Radio One. Kutski now is the mastermind behind the Keeping the Rave Alive (KTRA) brand. KTRA is a weekly podcast, a tour, and a merchandise brand spanning across the globe with performances in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Poland, and many many more. In this interview we discuss the evolution of the hard dance scene in the UK, how he went from bedroom DJing to mainstages back to bedroom DJing as a result of the coronavirus, and advice for up and coming producers. KEEP DA BASS ROLLIN` vol 11 - Dj Ransome DJ Ransome is a Producer/DJ that has had previous success in UK Hard Dance and is now making waves in the Drum & Bass scene. The change into writing and DJing Drum & Bass music happened in 2013. You could fit DJ Ransome's style of Drum & Bass mainly into the chilled, rolling side of the spectrum. Early DnB releases were the "High Rollers EP" on 'Everything Bass' and the jazzy inspired track "Love In The Sun" being released on Colossus' label 'Rush Records'. 'Silver Lights on the Horizon' was a 4 track EP released on Rush Records in 2015 that gained support from artists such as Camo & Krooked, Technimatic, SPY. This success sparked further releases on various different labels including Figment Records & Inna Rhythm in the same year. Since then DJ Ransome has been pushing his music capabilities and has achieved a whole back catalogue of releases across multiple labels such as Default Recordings, Inna Rhythm, Formation Records, Deconstructed and more. I started playing Hardstyle and won a couple of contests, that lead to my first bookings. Since then, I've played in several clubs in Switzerland but also at the mighty Lake Parade in Geneva. It's a Parade in the streets of Geneva, where several trucks are transformed into mobile stages. There are every year hundreds of thousands of people dancing in the streets and that's probably the best memories I have behind the decks. I discovered the UK Hard Dance scene during my time in Nottingham, where I lived a few months for my studies. After that, I also attended the Westfest 2014 and that's where I defintely fell in love with UK Hardcore. Since then, together with my mates from Hardice Association, we started to include UK HC sets during our events and the response from the audience was always very positive ! We decided to take things one step further and create a 100% UK Hard Dance event. That's where the TEA TIME concept was born. For the first event, on the 6th May in Fribourg, we'll invite Kutski and Fracus & Darwin along with local DJs. I'm very much looking forward to play there and to see how the audience will welcome this new type of event.
