In 2025, the Indian rupee has quietly become Asia’s worst-performing currency but the real impact isn’t just on trading screens, it’s inside Indian homes. From higher cooking oil prices and costlier foreign education to travel bills and shrinking savings returns, rupee volatility is reshaping middle-class finances in ways few anticipate. Why is the currency weakening despite strong GDP growth, healthy forex reserves, and a manageable current account deficit? Host Anirban Chowdhury talks to Madan Sabnavis, Chief Economist, Bank of Baroda to unpack how import inflation seeps in with a lag, why RBI interventions focus more on volatility than levels, and why currency swings hurt consumers more than a steady decline. With foreign investors pulling billions out, US-India trade talks stalled, and global sentiment overpowering fundamentals, the rupee’s fate may lie beyond domestic control. Joel Dolisy, CTO at WellSky, joins the podcast to reveal why organizational design is the ultimate "operating system" for scaling tech companies. This conversation is a deep dive into how engineering leaders must adapt their strategies when moving between the hyper growth of Venture Capital and the disciplined profitability of Private Equity.Building a high performing team is about much more than just hiring. Joel explains the necessity of maximizing the "multiplier effect" where the collective output far exceeds the sum of individual parts. We explore the pragmatic reality of digital transformation, the "art" of timing disruptive technology adoption like Generative AI, and how to use the Three Horizons framework to keep your core business stable while chasing the next big innovation. Whether you are leading a team of ten or an organization of hundreds, these insights on design principles and leadership context are essential for navigating the complexities of modern software delivery.Core InsightsShifting the perspective of software from a cost center to a core growth enabler is the fundamental requirement for any company aiming to be a true innovator.Private Equity environments require a specialized leadership approach because the "hold period" clock dictates when to prioritize aggressive growth versus EBITDA margin acceleration.Scaling successfully requires a "skeleton" of design principles, such as maintaining team sizes around eight people to ensure optimal communication flow and minimize overhead. The most critical role of a senior leader is providing constant context to the engineering org, ensuring teams understand the "why" behind shifting constraints as the company matures.Timestamped Highlights01:12 Defining the broad remit of a CTO from infrastructure and security to the unusual addition of UX.04:44 Treating your organizational structure as a living operating system that must be upgraded as you grow.10:07 Why innovation must include internal efficiency gains to free up resources for new revenue streams.15:01 Navigating the massive waves of disruption from the internet to mobile and now large language models.23:11 The tactical differences in funding engineering efforts during a five to seven year Private Equity hold period.28:57 Applying Team Topologies to create clear responsibilities across platform, feature, and enablement teams.Words to Lead By"You are trying to optimize what a set of people can do together to create bigger and greater things than the sum of the individual parts there".Expert Tactics for Tech LeadersWhen evaluating new technology like AI, Joel suggests looking at the "adoption curve compression". Unlike the mid nineties when businesses had a decade to figure out the internet, the window to integrate modern disruptors is shrinking. Leaders should use the Three Horizons framework to move dollars from the core business (Horizon 1) to speculative innovation (Horizon 3) without making knee jerk reactions based solely on hype.Join the ConversationIf you found these insights on organizational design helpful, please subscribe to the show on your favorite platform and share this episode with a fellow engineering leader. Let's be honest: This whole Light of Motiram thing was shady from the get-go. A game that blatantly rips off Guerrilla's Horizon franchise, created by the publisher-and-developer combo that was later revealed to have unsuccessfully pitched Sony a Horizon spin-off beforehand? They call that 'dead to rights.' And now it's official, because Sony's lawsuit against Tencent over this facsimile has been dropped with prejudice, and the game has been delisted from Steam. That's a win for PlayStation, and an even bigger win for creativity in the AAA space. We discuss. Plus: Sucker Punch co-founder, long-time producer, and studio lead Brian Fleming is officially retiring from the team after 28 years, Bungie's Marathon is slated to come to PS5 in March, Hollow Knight: Silksong is getting a free nautical expansion in '26, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Should we expect devs to lean more deeply into attractive characters? Do we think "made using AI" warnings will appear on games at some point in the near future? Who's to blame for Highguard's tepid response at The Game Awards? Is it strange if a wheelchair-bound listener wants to proudly wear a Stand Down shirt? To participate, please go to 340bpodcast.org/survey.With monumental movement on 340B rebates, changes in Medicare and Medicaid payments, and evolving audit priorities, 2025 has been a transformative year in the world of 340B. We sit down with 340B Health Senior Manager of Policy and Compliance Rebecca Swartz to chronicle some of the biggest developments of such an eventful year and forecast what to expect in 2026.Rebates Take ShapeSwartz says 2025 will go down as the year that a rebate model shifted from a hypothetical approach pushed by drugmakers into a fully developed model with implementation criteria. The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) approved plans for 340B rebate models set to take effect in January for nine of 10 drugs subject to the 2026 Medicare maximum fair prices. Rebates for the remaining drug on that list will kick in April 1. Swartz discusses how hospitals should prepare for this pilot program, which is set to upend decades of established 340B operations and impose intense financial and logistical burdens on safety-net hospitals nationwide.Medicaid, IRA Changes Set To Impact 340B HospitalsThis year also saw massive changes to Medicaid funding as well as Medicare pay changes under the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Swartz says these developments are projected to shrink safety-net hospital margins even further. Renewed congressional focus is putting 340B in a high-profile spot, with potentially significant implications for the program and hospitals in the coming months.2026 Tips for HospitalsSwartz says she's identified two areas as more of a focus for HRSA audits this year: expanded scrutiny of offsite and on-site trial balances and the ways covered entities list shipping addresses. To prepare for possible shakeups in 2026, she recommends that covered entities begin and maintain cross-functional planning across departments and closely monitor denials, delays, and other costs from new rebate programs in addition to monitoring wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) changes and contract pharmacy developments.Resources340B Health Year-in-Review Webinar: 2025 Highlights and What's on the Horizon

To snowy Ontario, Canada for our 2026 Christmas Special! Living out the dream of countless exhausted women, Laura Lee Davidson retreated to an island in the middle of a lake, and lived there alone through a long Canadian winter. But she wasn't really alone. Wild creatures became her friends, and she was constantly the recipient of neighborly kindness from folks on the mainland. Laura Lee's 1922 book about her winter on the island is now considered a classic of Canadian literature, and a vivid portrait of time gone by. Katie reads some of her favorite excerpts from the book, and we all tag along with Laura Lee Davidson, retreating into a remote winter solitude, and marveling at the wonders of nature. ___________________________________ Find Laura Lee Davidson's A Winter of Content HERE, or read a digital copy HERE.
