Te gast is hardstyle-dj Sefa Vlaarkamp (24). Als niet-christelijk opgevoede jongen kwam hij via Bach bij de Geneefse psalmen terecht en via de berijming van 1773 in de reformatorische wereld. Hij treedt op voor een uitzinnige menigtes tot wel 60.000 mensen zoals bij festival Defqon.1 - waar diehardfans zijn naam op hun arm hebben getatoeëerd. En op zondagochtend kun je hem zomaar aantreffen tijdens een kerkdienst van de Gereformeerde Gemeente.Hoe kun je met een been in de hardstyle-wereld staan en met het andere in de christelijke wereld - of zelfs de refobubbel? De wereld van seks en drugs, en de wereld van vroomheid en psalmgezang gaan toch niet samen? Sefa worstelt daar ook mee, vertelt hij aan Dick en Daniël. Het is hem duidelijk dat bepaald woordgebruik niet meer kan, maar met het vermaken van mensen is niet per se iets mis. ‘Ik hoop dat God mij kan gebruiken op een bepaalde manier. Maar ik ben niet de hardstyle-evangelist.'Hij is fan van de reformatorische vormen, zoals psalmen zingen op hele noten. Dov J. Elkabas (1968), ook wel DJ The Prophet, wordt al jaren beschouwd als 'The Godfather of Hardstyle'. In de late jaren '80 begon hij als pionier in de hardcore en speelde hij tien jaar later een sleutelrol in de opkomst van hardstyle. Van illegale raves met 50 mensen tot een spectaculaire afscheidsshow voor 70.000 fans op de mainstage van Defqon.1. In het Nederlandse boek ‘Uit het HARD' onthult DJ The Prophet openhartig alles over zijn invloedrijke carrière in de dancescene, met alle spraakmakende verhalen die daarbij horen. Following a string of monster 303 jams in the late 2010s, Carlo B. & Giovanni C. became fast favourites of a generation who prefer their techno cranked to 11. Their rampant velocity arrived at the right moment, proving parallel compatibility with acid lifers and younger audiences making the leap from EDM to hard dance. Too nosebleed for 'business', and too close to Defqon.1-level hardstyle to be hard techno in the classic sense, 999999999's headline sets practically require a new category to convey the sense of scale: let's call it megatechno. Here, they emphasise the core elements of the 9x9 formula—high drama, jackhammering kicks and the kind of tweaked-out acid air sirens that would make the likes of Hardfloor and Miss Djax scrunch their noses in approval. His first major performance was at Defqon.1 2008, but his breakthrough was at X-Qlusive Holland 2009. Van der Palen cites DJ Zany and Michel Pollen as his main musical inspirations and influences. Together with Adaro, Frequencerz and Ran-D, Van der Palen founded his own label in 2015: Roughstate.In January 2016, he got his own X-Qlusive at the Heineken Music Hall. Toneshifterz has become a true ambassador of the Australian hard dance scene, confirming his international status on main stages around the world. Starting in 2009, he's produced a number of popular tracks such as “Jaydee” and “Empire of the Sun”. Soon after his entrance into the industry, he was signed to the famous Fusion imprint, and in 2011 his debut album “Till Daybreak Meets” was released. Toneshifterz was also responsible for the official Defqon.1 Festival anthem “Psychedelic Wasteland”. In 2013, he switched to Brennan Heart's new musical platform We R with the massive single release “Last Night (Feat. Chris Madin)” and follow-up “Parachutes”, and in 2014 his smash hit “Wild Wild Weekend” became one of the biggest festival anthems of the year. At the end of 2016, the heavyweight artist moved to the Netherlands to continue pursuing his dream, making his mark in the world of hardstyle.
