As for the life lessons / affirmations I use daily ; God is close to true believers verse68). All grace is in God's hands: He grants it to whoever He will- He is all embracing, all knowing- and He singles out for His mercy whoever He will. His grace is infinite.) (verse 73-74).God loves those who put their trust in Him . Verse 159. As well as verse 174. God is enough for us: He is the best protector). What better way to live your life while using Quran as your daily affirmations. Being a good human to yourself, your family to your surroundings the earth and animals and plants. May our Lord forgive us our sins guide us and give us help and bless us with the best rewards of this world and the excellent rewards of the Hereafter. It started with the Sheikh Jarrah land grab, the latest episode in the ongoing project of settler colonialism, and then the sanctity of Al-Aqsa was defiled by police officers hell-bent on provoking the sentiments of worshippers. The savagery by which the occupying power acted was caught on smartphones and communicated to the world. Until now the state has acted with impunity, probably cognisant that the Arab leaders have abandoned the Palestinian cause and worse still have enabled it through pacts and treaties to curry favour with America. We Muslims like to believe that the world sees justice for what it is and responds to injustice, but the issue of Palestine and the hypocritical response of the West is a constant reminder that America and Europe care little for humanity when their allies and interests are undermined. The steady building of settlements and confiscation of Palestinian land over the past few decades, the billions of dollars of military aid, the willingness to use the UN veto to protect Israel - it is clear for any right-minded person that the international system hides behind a façade of human rights and international law. The first step to making a change is to understand the issues. It is one of the maladies of the modern age, that we live in an information-saturated world yet often can't move beyond headlines and sound bites. The modern liberal society is weighed down by ignorance and superficiality. This week we discuss the politics of Palestine with the veteran commentator Dr Azzam Tamimi. Dr Tamimi is no stranger to the debate, he has thoughtfully and with consistency raised the issues of Palestine at immense personal cost. Like many academics, he has been blacklisted and banned from university campuses – yet remains a reasoned and thoughtful commentator on the issue within the Muslim community globally. Sahih al-Bukhari – The Book of Tawheed – Lesson 87 (08/06/2019) Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "We (Muslims) are the last (to come) but will be the foremost on the Day of Resurrection." The narrators of this Hadith said: Allah said (to man), 'Spend (in charity), for then I will compensate you (generously).' " Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said that Gabriel said, "Here is Khadija coming to you with a dish of food or a tumbler containing something to drink. Convey to her a greeting from her Lord (Allah) and give her the glad tidings that she will have a palace in Paradise built of Qasab wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue (trouble)." (See Hadith No. 168, Vol. 5) Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah said, "I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.' " Narrated Ibn Abbas: Whenever the Prophet offered the night (Tahajjud) prayer, he used to say, "O Allah! All the Praises are for You; You are the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. And all the Praises are for You; You are the Keeper of the Heavens and the Earth. All the Praises are for You; You are the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth and whatever is therein. You are the Truth, and Your Promise is the Truth, and Your Speech is the Truth, and meeting You is the Truth, and Paradise is the Truth and Hell (Fire) is the Truth and all the prophets are the Truth and the Hour is the Truth. O Allah! I surrender to You, and believe in You, and depend upon You, and repent to You, and in Your cause I fight and with Your orders I rule. So please forgive my past and future sins and those sins which I did in secret or in public. It is You Whom I worship, None has the right to be worshipped except You ." (See Hadith No. 329,Vol. 8) Narrated 'Urwa bin Az-Zubair: Sa'id bin Al-Musaiyab, 'Alqama bin Waqqas and 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah regarding the narrating of the forged statement against 'Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, when the slanderers said what they said and Allah revealed her innocence. 'Aisha said, "But by Allah, I did not think that Allah, (to confirm my innocence), would reveal Divine Inspiration which would be recited, for I consider myself too unimportant to be talked about by Allah through Divine Inspiration revealed for recitation, but I hoped that Allah's Apostle might have a dream in which Allah would reveal my innocence. So Allah revealed:-- 'Verily! Those who spread the slander are a gang among you...' In today's episode... I fly solo for the first time and tell you how Bruce Lee's philosophy helped me manifest my Islam more honestly and authentically.  When it comes to self-improvement in our time Bruce Lee is the most famous example and most likely the gold standard, even though he died over 40 years ago. He is commonly known as a superlative martial artist and an action movie superstar. Less well known is his expertise as a philosopher and being a prolific writer. Most important to you and I is his constant striving to not only achieve balance but to excel in every aspect of his life. This made him an excellent husband, father, friend, teacher, and student as well. His holistic self-improvement is rooted in a worldview based on Eastern philosophies like Taoism. Whatever his beliefs what is relevant here, what we can learn from, is his action. We Muslims know his actions as a manifestation of Ihsan – personal excellence. Lee died in 1973 just before the release of “Enter the Dragon,” the movie which catapulted him into global stardom. Today, his legacy is carried on by his daughter, Shannon Lee. Lee died when she was 4, so she didn’t grow up around him. When asked, she has few memories of him. She was more exposed to his personality, his philosophy, and his person through his prolific writings and library. She is as much a student of Bruce Lee as she is his daughter. So, I’m always riveted when I hear her speak about him.
