Don Devine is proud that The Washington Post once attacked him as President Ronald Reagan's "terrible swift sword of the civil service," but even he is blown away by the muscular reforms of the Trump administration.   That doesn't stop him from giving advice on how to slay the deep state leviathan, however. Devine, who served as the second director of the Office of Personnel Management under Reagan from 1981 to 1985, warned that public-sector unions will always oppose efforts to bring the administrative state to heel, so any conservative will have to take on these issues with steely resolve.   "They're going to be fighting you no matter what you do," Devine told The Daily Signal.   "The unions in the government, which shouldn't even be there ... The unions, that's their job, all right? If you do anything, they're going to go to the courts after you."   "So, what's the answer? You got to do it anyway, you got to fight them," he explained. Public-sector unions, who represent federal government employees, have filed multiple lawsuits to block Trump's reforms on everything from DOGE getting access to federal data to the firing of probationary employees to the removal of collective bargaining privileges.   Trump has just the stomach to face this threat, however, Devine said.   Tune in to find out what happens next! The Security Cabinet has approved plans to pave a new bypass road that will dramatically relieve traffic congestion between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim and also strengthen security. Over 350 million shekels has been allocated to build the road which will link the Palestinian villages of a-Zaim and al-Eizariya, thus diverting Arab vehicles from the main Highway 1 and checkpoints. Maaleh Adumim deputy mayor Brenda Horwitz-Prawer welcomed the move. She told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that it would not only improve traffic and give better security, but that it opens the way for expansion of the city and linking it to Jerusalem. Small businesses will have less health and safety obligations under new reforms. Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Brooke van Velden has revealed her first changes to the Health and Safety at Work Act. She says small businesses will only need to manage risks relating to death or serious injury to reduce compliance costs. He explained: “anything we can do to stop the violence is an extremely positive thing.” On Tuesday, after meeting with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that Ukraine agreed to terms for an immediate ceasefire with a willingness to enter “immediate negotiations to end this conflict [with Russia] in a way that's enduring and sustainable." 4:45pm- On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through September. The CR will now head to the Senate, which will require the support of several Democrats to overcome a 60-vote filibuster threshold. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), however, told reporters that Democrats will refuse to support the CR—which could mean the government shuts down on Friday at midnight. But according to Politico, a government shutdown may be in the Trump Administration's best interest—as the Attorney General and Office of Management of Budget will determine what federal activities are essential based on guidance that dates back to the Carter Administration. This would allow for DOGE to slash the size of government with even greater ease.
