Psyched to be joined today by our great friends Jean Fruth and Jeff Idelson to talk about their new film "See Her Be Her." - SEE HER BE HER follows the lives of seven women baseball stars who are at the pinnacle of their game and represent the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Japan, South Korea, Cuba and Uganda. In the intense battle for the 2024 World Cup Championship, they want victory — for themselves, for their team, for their countries, and for the sheer love of the game—but their greatest triumph is the path they are blazing for future generations of female players. The film also includes Hall of Famers Ichiro Suzuki, Cal Ripken, Jr., Tony Pérez and Ferguson Jenkins, as well as retired major league stars Chan Ho Park and Jimmy Rollins. Sports legend and equality champion Billie Jean King served as an executive producer. Full Youtube Broadcast Here: https://youtu.be/ly1iLTuOsSQ
For their first (of hopefully many) podcast double dates, Abby and Glennon sit down with the icons, activists, and Olympians Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird. In this honest and hilarious conversation, we find out: 1. The delightfully awkward moment Megan and Sue first met; 2. What's hard for each of them right now; 3. The boundaries they're working on together; 4. How they communicate and deal with jealousy; and 5. How they help each other show up in the world as champions for change. About Sue: Regarded as the world's premier point guard, Sue Bird is the WNBA's All-Time Leader in Assists and known for being selfless, driven, encouraging, funny and smart. Bird is a seasoned veteran and a born leader who has dominated at every level. She is one of only seven women to win an Olympic Gold Medal (she's won five), a World Championship Gold Medal (she's won four) an NCAA Championship (she's won two), and a WNBA Championship (she's won four – the last just weeks before her 40th birthday). Sue is also a five-time Euroleague Champion, a twelve- time WNBA All-Star, was voted by the fans as one of the WNBA's Top 15 Players of All Time. Off the court, Sue spends time as a basketball analyst for ESPN and as an outspoken and visible activist advocating for Black Lives, equality, health and wellness and expanding opportunities for girls and all marginalized people. TW: @S10Bird IG: @suebird10 About Megan: Two-time World Cup Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist, Megan Rapinoe is a fan favorite and one of the team's most technical and craftiest players. A vocal leader on and off the pitch, Megan helped lead the USWNT to the 2019 Women's World Cup Championship scoring some of the biggest goals of the tournament. Megan took home the tournament's two top honors – the Golden Boot for top scorer, and the Golden Ball for the best player in the tournament. We're very proud to present Episode 10 of the Venom Skate podcast with now 2x World Cup Champion Harry Clarke. Harry is the most powerful force on the race circuit today. Coming off an undefeated season, his first World Championship, and his second World Cup Championship, Harry has been unstoppable and has no plans of slowing down. This episode was recorded just days before his monumental win at Roan for his second World Championship title.

Megan Rapinoe is known for her ability to perform under pressure on the soccer field. In 2019, she led the U.S. women's team to the World Cup Championship. But Rapinoe's leadership extends beyond making big goals in high-stakes games. She has embraced her role as team captain and as an advocate for causes she believes in — like gender pay equity. “I've always been a team-first kind of player. I've never been the best player, but I certainly carry a lot of weight,” she tells IdeaCast host Alison Beard. “I think that as long as I can do that in a positive way then I can have a really big impact on the team ultimately.” They also discuss how Rapinoe gradually grew into her leadership role on the U.S. women's team, why personal relationships with her teammates are important to her leadership, and what she does to keep her teammates motivated – especially after hard losses. Key episode topics include: leadership, sports, gender, diversity and inclusion, leading teams, corporate social responsibility, pay equity, advocacy, purpose, and soccer. Plus, Megan explores the question: Does greatness have to cost you your humanity? About Megan: Two-time World Cup Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist, Megan Rapinoe is a fan favorite and one of the team's most technical and craftiest players. A vocal leader on and off the pitch, Megan helped lead the USWNT to the 2019 Women's World Cup Championship scoring some of the biggest goals of the tournament. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the debut 7th study session on Mário Filho's 1947 The Black Man in Brazilian Soccer, translated to English by Jack A. Draper III. Brazilian football (soccer) legend Pelé died near the end of 2022 at the age of 82. The only player to win 3 World Cup Championships and voted "Athlete of the 20th Century" according to many White journalists and historians, Pelé is classified as black and was born in 1940, a measly 52 years after Brazil abolished formal enslavement of black people in 1888. Racists didn't even allow black people to play football/soccer in Brazil for many decades. We'll learn about the System of White Supremacy in South America and one of the greatest athletes of any sport. The ugly violence and hooliganism following former President Jair Bolsonaro's electoral defeat is still being investigated while Brazil's ex-commander remains on sabbatical in Florida - prepping for spring break apparently. And we're reading this book in the middle of Carnival. Two weeks ago, the text detailed how black players were viewed with extreme suspicion. Such that Whites would go to their place of work to confirm their employment status. Filho details even more raucous parties, heavy drinking and staying out all night. Whites dress up as "ghosts" to scare and pull pranks on their non-white teammates. Filho labels this chapter "The Revolution of the Black Man," but it's mostly a catalog of black and non-white players being mistreated and barely tolerated by their White teammates. #Kinky #WhiteBallGames #TheCOWS14Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

The ugly violence and hooliganism following former President Jair Bolsonaro's electoral defeat is still being investigated while Brazil's ex-commander remains on sabbatical in Florida - prepping for spring break apparently. Last week we learned how a black male player's name, Gradim, was turned into a Racist insult for all black fútbol players. Gus T. noted a distinction between the way black players and non-white players with a White parent are described. The so-called "mulatto" players are labeled dandies who spent inordinate time on their hair and wardrobe. Filho describes how black players were assaulted by White players during the ball games, and Racist fans would cheer on the illegal, anti-black violence. Black players were not allowed to complain or retaliate. Gus observed that this book was originally published in 1947, which is the year Jackie Robinson would have heard the same admonition to refrain from retaliation. We also made note of the high levels of illiteracy in early 20th century Brazil, where most black people and a high number of Whites could not read. #Rio #WhiteBallGames #TheCOWS14Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

The ugly violence and hooliganism following former President Jair Bolsonaro's electoral defeat is still being investigated while Brazil's ex-commander remains on sabbatical in Florida - prepping for spring break apparently. Last week we learned how professional soccer players got younger as the practice time required to play well increased. White Men bragged about having leisure time and flexible scheduling to play ball games. Filho also described how a "mulatto with squinty eyes," Alfredo China, would violently discipline the "street urchins" for playing fútbol near the catholic church. There was an extremely graphic passage where Alfredo China is said to have delighted in using his knife to castrate the big, black, leather soccer balls. The homoeroticism of the text drips from each paragraph as Filho details how many of the non-white soccer players slept on the floor of the club house because they had no wear else to go. White players would "sleep over" frat-style only after a "bender" - they had a comfortable bed in the waiting. This sort of spartan existence resulted in a disproportionate number of non-white players contracting tuberculosis (TB). This illness remains a problem for black and non-white people in the favelas of Brazil and North America today. #Rio WhiteBallGames #TheCOWS14 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

Listeners should be mindful that Brazil just endured riots and violent protests after a contentious presidential election. The scene was eerily similar to the 2021 mayhem on January 6th in Washington, D.C. Former President Jair Bolsonaro is being investigated for instigating the conflict. During last week's installment, we heard more homoerotic details about 20th White culture in South America. Filho gives lots of details about the post game "shindig" - where White men drink alcohol, smoke cigars and dance with other White Men. We heard about other non-white soccer players and fans like Ovídio Dionísio, a burly black male nicknamed "Butter," Arthur Friedenreich, who had a White German father and a black mother, and Carlos Alberto. Filho takes great time to describe the unruly, rebellious, criminally kinky hair of Alberto and his makeup secret: rice powder. Like bleaching cream, Alberto reportedly used Rice Powder to lighten his dark complexion before soccer matches. Fútbol fans began shouting "rice powder" to insult both Alberto and his team, the haughty Fluminense. We also hear a lot about black street urchins who know their place - in the favelas far away from Whites. #Rio #WhiteBallGames #PELÉ #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

The scene was eerily similar to the 2021 mayhem on January 6th in Washington, D.C. Former President Jair Bolsonaro is being investigated for instigating the conflict. During last week's installment, we heard continued insistence from Filho that skin color became less prominent with time and the "democratization" of Brazil and football/soccer. This has to be a willful lie because Filho also describes how young black boys were only allowed on the smaller ball clubs and the "affluent" White clubs relocated to the "suburbs." We also heard how Catholic priests demanded that Brazilian children play soccer. Gus strongly suspects the "ball game" was a ruse to rape children. Importantly, the author describes the soccer balls used as being large and constructed of tough, black ox leather. The children called the ball "HAIRY" because of the stubborn ox hairs that wouldn't turn loose. 20th century journalists felt squeamish about writing the word "ball" when covering the football matches. The homoerotic qualities of the book and 20th century Brazilian culture are equally profound. #Rio WhiteBallGames #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943# #Interracial
The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the debut study session on Mário Filho's 1947 The Black Man in Brazilian Soccer, translated to English by Jack A. Draper III. Brazilian football (soccer) legend Pelé died the final week of 2022 at the age of 82. The only player to win 3 World Cup Championships and the "Athlete of the 20th Century" according to many White journalists and historians, Pelé is classified as black and was born in 1940, a measly 52 years after Brazil abolished formal enslavement of black people in 1888. Racists didn't even allow black people to play football/soccer in Brazil for many decades. We'll learn about the System of White Supremacy in South America and one of the greatest athletes of any sport. Listeners should be mindful that Brazil just endured riots and violent protests after a contentious presidential election. The scene was eerily similar to the 2021 mayhem on January 6th in Washington, D.C. Last week's installment provided a wealth of author notes, where the Mr. Filho as well as the translator, Mr. Draper, detailed their objectives for the project. Importantly, White enslavement of black people is the foundation of Brazilian culture and this book. Before getting to Pelé, Filho details the origins of soccer in Brazil - which is detailed as a White Man's game. The few non-white players who were allowed to play, like Francisco Carregal, are described as being immaculate with their attire. White White ball players are free to be slobs cause they're White. Zachary R. Bigalke reviews Filho's work and details Carregal's futile effort gain acceptance "into white-dominated athletic clubs and social organizations seems to have required overcompensation for one's skin color through whitening one's dress and appearance." #RacialClassificationConfusion #Bolsonaro #PELÉ #TheCOWS13 #Pelé INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

Hello, and welcome to the Women Leaders podcast! I'm Patti Phillips, CEO of Women Leaders in College Sports. Today we've got a very special guest...It's MIA HAMM – yes, you heard that right -MIA HAMM. It was an honor to sit down with Mia at Boston College recently, for their “Celebrating 50 years of Title IX” event which was presented by the council for women at BC! Mia is not only the best women's soccer player ever, but also one of the most important and recognizable female figures in the history of sport. But...without Title IX, you would probably not be listening to this podcast. Mia Hamm would not have won four consecutive NCAA Soccer Championships at University of North Carolina. She would not have two Olympic gold medals. She would not have two World Cup Championships. Mia is an outspoken advocate for Title IX and gender equality. Now an active owner of Angel City FC, Mia talks to us about the important evolution going from wanting a voice at the table, to a seat at the table, to wanting to OWN the table! Of course, we can't sit down with Mia Hamm and not talk about the epic 99 run... And why there are NO MORE excuses for not investing in women's sports. Mia shares her life lessons from sports and how she instills those in her children, along with some great suggestions for parents of athletes. She offers so many great pieces of advice here! Don't miss a moment of this conversation with one of the most legendary sports figures in the world. This past week, Chelsea lifted the 2022 Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi, so we decided to explore a competition that is still unheralded and unloved by many (particularly in Europe). Our choices this week go right back to the first decade of the competition in the 1960s to the new tournament format created in the 21st century, as we discuss the Intercontinental Cup/Club World Cup via a great performance, a great (disallowed) goal and the infamous time that a certain club opted to play in the 2000 World Cup Championship ahead of that year's FA Cup.Matt's Choices1. His generosity of spirit and humility is admirable and refreshing, especially when it comes to motivating younger, upcoming athletes on the circuit. Manny shares a few memorable highlights from his skiing career. including what it’s like to ski the notorious and death-defying race in Kitzbuhel, Austria. It’s no wonder when Manny announced his retirement from the skiing last fall, the biggest television network in Canada - the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) - threw him a farewell party. Anson Dorrance has served as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at the University of North Carolina for the past 40+ years. In his tenure Anson has won a staggering 22 Division I National Championships and is the only coach in NCAA history to win 20 championships in a single sport. When ESPN announced its list of the Best Coaches of the Past Quarter Century, Anson was one of only two coaches to make the list from a non-revenue collegiate sport. What else is staggering is the list of iconic players who have learned from Coach Dorrance. To name literally just a few you have Kristine Lilly, Tobin Heath and of course the great Mia Hamm. In this episode we get away from the fool talk and go deep. We are joined by D.T. a Mobile, Alabama native who shares mutiple acquaintances with Petey from his days as a student at the University of South Alabama, located in Mobile, and Brother Rodriguez, a woke, conscience black man from Central Florida. We first discuss the disrespectful treatment of the highly talented U.S. Women's soccer team despite their World Cup Championship win; the use of the word "Nigger/nigga" and where it stands with the black community as well as others; and the pysche behind those who cheat. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/straight/message
The basic idea is that the US Women's team is being paid less for the same (or more) viewership as the US Men's soccer team. The official statement was that women's team is making only 40% of what the men's team is paid. Let's talk about viewers "The Women's World Cup ratings top Men's 2018 Championship Game by 22%" Here's the big difference. By big, I mean it is a massive, un-ignorable difference. The 22% win by the Women's team is talking about the viewership in the United States. This year, the Women's Cup garnered almost 15 million TV viewers inside the US. That is, in fact, higher than the US viewers for the 2018 Men's cup. The problem? The Men's US soccer team was not in the 2018 World Cup Championship. Actually, they didn't even qualify for the 2018 World Cup tournament itself. The 2018 Men's World Cup Championship was between France and Croatia. These websites are actually comparing US viewership for the Women's game that featured a US team playing, and a game that did not involve the US Men's team- to make the case that the US Women's team is comparable to the US Men's team in TV audience. Today I have a great pleasure and honour to chat with Andrea Unger. He’s the only trader winning the World Cup Championships 4 times! Until now no one has achieved such thing except Andrea! He’s a fully systematic trader, and in this episode, he describes why he has chosen such trading approach. In this episode he talks about his procedure for building and testing mechanical systems, how to know when risking more is pointless, and many other topics. What I like especially very much in the way Andrea talks about trading, is that he’s extremely honest. He’s not promising an easy way to quickly get rich via trading, but on the other hand, he’s a great example that a passion and hard work significantly helps to be successful on the market.I hope you will enjoy the show!Strona odcinka: https://systemtrader.pl/012

Or just sit back and wait? The Crypto Competition is upon us! We talk opening strategies Kevin Davey is our guest. He won the World Cup Championship of Futures Trading and tells us how to approach a Trading Competition with victory in mind He has built countless profitable trading algorithms and lets us in on his secrets Trader Interview - Kevin Davey - How to Win a Trading Competition and Algo Trading Strategies Kevin Davey’s success at the World Cup of Futures Trading from 2005 to 2007 is the stuff of legend. He came second in 2005, first in 2006 and second again in 2007. This unprecedented level of success led the world to sit up and take notice. Kevin achieved his remarkable run through developing trading algorithms. After 15 years of fruitless labour and after trying various trading techniques, Kevin perfected a winning process. His process enables him to find and select trading ideas, backtest them, perform the perfect amount of optimisation, and release them into the wild to trade away at all hours, bringing him profit! Crucially, his method of approaching the data and parameter optimisation prevents him from falling into the traps of hindsight bias and over-optimisation that most beginner algo-builders suffer from. This trap is even more prevalent when using automatic backtesting than with manual backtesting. If you manually backtest a system then you have by definition already chosen the system and can’t “curve fit” it for the data. With automatic backtesting, too often people run the data, change the parameters, run the data, change the parameters etc etc ad infinitum. This is because it is so quick and easy to do so. This approach will inevitably lead to over-optimisation and a system that works amazingly well in back testing but crashes and burns in real life! Disaster! An Engineer’s Perspective After reading Kevin’s Book - Building Winning Algorithmic Trading Systems - it is pretty clear that his background as an engineer is central to his process. That is not to say you need to be an engineer or otherwise very mathematical to master it, but the attention to detail and precision that he uses is second to none. His use of Monte Carlo Simulation and out-of-sample Walk Forward Testing, take data analysis and edge-proving to the next level. If you want to build winning algos like Kevin Davey builds winning algos, then you need to accept the necessity for this mathematical approach. Crypto Competition - It’s ON! Tom and Owen discuss opening strategies for the competition on this episode. The comp started on Saturday 11th, but if you have only just heard about it, don’t worry, presuming you are reading this close to the release of the episode, there is still plenty of time left to make some (fake) $$$!Sign up right away to get involved!
Glad you could join us today where we get to chat with Stefano Serafini – the current leader of the World Cup Championship of Futures Trading®* I met Stefano in New York at a trading masterclass a few years back and he’s been doing some great things with his trading. As I mentioned, he’s the current leader of the World Cup Championship of Futures Trading®* Sometimes in these trading competitions you see traders rocket to the top of the leaderboard really quickly, but they usually disappear just as quick. Anyone who’s been watching the competition this year would have noticed that Stefano has been pretty consistent so far, so we’re going to discuss his trading approach, especially around intraday trading strategies and portfolio construction. In our chat you will learn: How to use filtering on higher timeframes to produce higher quality intraday trades, How ‘time windows’ can improve trading results and what to look for, How to combine multiple strategies into a portfolio and then manage it to keep the portfolio fresh and performing optimally, A common mistake traders make with correlations that could give false results and how to overcome it.

What we cover: "Everything is perspective." -- Jennifer Heil A few months ago, my friend Susanne Biro, Guest Titan Episode #6, put together a dinner party of six people who didn’t necessarily know one another, but who she all thought would hit it off. And guess what? It worked! Jennifer Heil was one of the people seated at the table, and I instantly fell in love with her. She’s a three-time Olympian – both a gold medalist and a silver medalist – and she’s wise and humble and approachable. I obviously pounced on her and begged her to be a Guest Titan. Better still, turns out, she lives not far from me at all – so getting her here was all the easier. She walks us through the chronology of her time getting to Salt Lake in 2002, Italy in 2006, then Vancouver, in 2010 and the life lessons she picked up along the way. This is a conversation about focus, about commitment to the process, about the power of visualization, about getting back up when you’re going through times in your life when the way you feel emotionally and psychologically might instead dictate you’d rather curl up on the couch. It’s about having the tools to know that if you want something bad enough, it’s up to you figure out how to make it happen. It’s about being grateful in the moment, and experiencing joy in the moment. It’s about pushing yourself beyond what you ever thought was possible for yourself -- Jenn is truly one of the most driven, accessible, inspiring, intelligent, big thinking people I’ve ever spoken with. To this day, she is the only skier to have completed the Skiing Grand Slam, winning every title in her sport. Yes, she’s a gold and silver medalist. But she’s also a four-time world champion, she’s had 58 World Cup podium finishes, and she’s won five overall World Cup Championships. She knows what greatness is – and she gives us a candid, behind the scenes look at the psychology behind what that takes. MJDionne.com

The guys after quibbling about what episode this is, start talking about how Kaner’s new hipster beard is a clever ploy based on Diplomacy principles to get his wife to allow him to keep his moustache. For any new listeners, Kaner and Amby get together and record these in a bar for a bit of atmosphere. So power on past our usual chit-chat as it doesn’t take long to get into Diplomacy talk:Kaner gives an update on the Bourse game that has now started (see podcast episode 3 about the Bourse variant) and how he’s finding his GM role really interesting. Amby explains how he’s making the same mistakes again. (3 mins 20 seconds)Amby then goes on to talk about a Who Controls America game to coincide with the 2016 election. According to the game result, its actually the Republicans, Corporate America and the Underworld who really control America. (6 mins 30 seconds)This gets Kaner talking about the election discussions in the webDip forum. (7 mins 45 seconds)Amby discusses how he feels he’s in too many games at the moment, but it’s nothing compared to the effort Kaner’s had to put in to GM the Bourse game (10 mins 45 seconds)The guys then start discussing various strategies players can employ in speculating on Bourse currencies (13 minutes 20 seconds)Amby mentions that while he tried getting a Google Translate game up on vDiplomacy with so many special rules games happening, no one seems to be signing up. Kaner suggests giving it a crack on webDip before Amby reminds him it probably wouldn’t have a good chance due to the 2016 webDip World Cup starting up (16 mins 30 seconds)Speaking of which Amby announces he’s participating in this under Team Eurovision - listen to find out why that name! Note: due to the various technical constraints (and user error by Amby) the interview was recorded in Mono rather than Stereo. And because we’re such cheap bastards and edit this on freeware, the whole track had to be stepped down to Mono. So apologies if it doesn’t sound as good as our other episodes.
