In Donald Trump's second term, we've seen a flurry of pardons and commutations. Of course, every President is granted the pardon power, but with this administration, pardons often seem to have a price tag. We're joined by Liz Oyer, former US pardon attorney (appointed by Biden and fired by Trump), to discuss some of the shadier pardons doled out during Trump's second term (so far).  Oyer lays out how several of Trump's pardons are motivated by money, loyalty, and retribution. Of course, we discuss the blanket pardon of the January 6th rioters, but we also examine the pardon of cryptocurrency-crook Changpeng Zhao, who Oyer says "might be the most corrupt pardon in American history." We dig into Trump's current pardon attorney, Ed Martin, a political operative who believes in "No MAGA left behind." Hi everyone, Happy Tuesday! This year, I dressed up as the Marshmallow Man for Halloween, so it's only fitting that I have Ernie Hudson on the show this week! Ernie famously played Winston Zeddmore in Ghostbusters. Sometimes it can be pretty amazing how one small decision can have a huge impact.   Mike Jaffe knows about that.   Mike was usually on his way to work in the morning when his wife, Sabrina, woke up their one year old daughter. He was also on his way home from work when Sabrina was putting her to bed.   But one Monday morning, he decided that the next day, Tuesday, he would go in to work late so that they could all have breakfast together.   On Tuesday morning, he was having second thoughts. This job was important to him. But he decided to stick to the plan, and they had a nice family breakfast together that morning.   That breakfast saved Mike's life.   He worked on the 96th floor of the World Trade Center's north tower, and that Tuesday morning breakfast was September 11, 2001. Hundreds of his colleagues were already at work and did not survive.   My guest today is Hannah. A few months ago, we covered the disturbing case involving rising R&B artist David Anthony Burke, better known as D4vd, and the disappearance of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez from Riverside County, California. Celeste vanished in April of 2024, when she was just thirteen, and over time, online chatter began linking her to Burke, a singer whose breakout hits like Romantic Homicide and Here With Me had made him one of the biggest viral artists of the last few years. Those rumors took a horrifying turn in September of 2025, when Celeste's remains were discovered inside an abandoned Tesla registered to Burke. Speculation was that the body had been in the vehicle for an extended period of time, and although the cause of death hasn't been officially released, authorities were treating it as a homicide. Since then, Burke has cancelled his world tour, suspended upcoming releases, and become the focus of an active death investigation. As we learned in our first video, there were already unsettling connections between the two; from matching tattoos and online interactions to song lyrics and videos that many fans now view in a far darker light.
