My name is Erin Hallstrom. I'm a writer, an adventurer, a performer, and an often-described badass. I wasn't born this way though. In fact, I sort of fell into it like the klutz that I am. Join me as I talk to people about their own stories of accidental badassery. From TED talks to catwalks and everything in between, we cover it in the Accidental Badass podcast.
In this episode, we're talking about what it's like to finally accept that you're a sensitive person and why it's one of the most badass realizations you can make about yourself. The Accidental Badass (aka, Erin) talks through what it was like being the "Zero F*c&s Given" Cool Girl from her 20s and into her 40s. Then she realized that all of that ZFGing was really just projection and, in reality, she's really just been a highly sensitive person and am empath for most of her life. Enjoy the small trips into the rabbit holes of why people are the way they are and how we can become better humans if we were all willing to do this one thing. Do you have a threshold for how much rejection you can take in a day, a week, a month, or a year? Have you ever noticed what your mind and your body feel like after years of being turned down or turned away from things you wanted? I call the culmination of rejections and the mental exhaustion that goes with it "rejection fatigue." In this solo episode of the Accidental Badass podcast, I'm talking about rejection fatigue and how to navigate it. I talk about how to simultaneously put up walls while letting your guard down as well as pondering how other people cope with what can sometimes feel like constant rejection. The podcast wraps up with the idea that embracing rejection fatigue and being aware of its impact is one of the most badass things you can do for yourself. When your therapist validates your coping mechamisms you can bet your bum you're going to want to talk about them and share them with anyone who will listen. Hi I'm Erin, I'm the Accidental Badass and my coping mechanisms have been dubbed Erinisms by me and my therapist. Join me for the start of this 3-part series on a few of the ways I've been able to heal from grief and trauma in the last 2 years. For this Erinism, we're talking about leaning in to your feelings. Listen to reasons behind how or why you might want to 'befriend' your less-than-fantastic emotions and feelings and how leaning in to the thoughts rather than fighting them can help you get to a more healed and happier place. Please note, I'm not a mental health professional and these thoughts and ideas are just my own ways of dealing with things. They're not a substitute for actual therapy or advice from a trained professional. Enjoy the Episode and be sure to check out the Accidental Badass Podcast website to learn more
