She started her career in 1997 working at EMI Christian Music Publishing where she was a part of growing the publishing team & the beginning of the WorshipTogether brand. The EMI family led her to the Country division in 2002 where she worked with songwriters Chris Stapleton, Jamey Johnson, John Paul White, Kelly Lovelace, & Jamie O’Neal. She also served for 8 years as Senior Creative Director at Brentwood Benson/Capitol CMG working with some of the top Christians writers & artists - Ben Glover, David Garcia, Chris Stevens, Kari Jobe, Mandisa & Chris Tomlin. Stacey took her knowledge to create services for other companies, she worked for Full Circle Music as VP Publishing/A&R with Grammy Award Winning Songwriter/Producer Seth Mosley where they Serve, Teach, Train and Raise Up aspiring songwriters & artist as they pursue their dream in the music industry. On this episode we get the chance to talk with performer Jodi Essex. She took great interest in the performing arts as a youth and became involved in her church as a regular soloist as well, as helping to lead worship for her youth group. Her first recording studio experience was at the age of 12 where she recorded several cover songs of her then-favorite Christian contemporary artists. She began to segue into commercial acting and landed her first episodic role on Candid Camera. Jodi continued to develop her vocal and performance skills which led to an interest in writing her own music. Influenced by so many artists and sounds, she sought to find her own style. She began focusing solely on a music career, playing and touring in two secular rock bands she helped to form. After years of casually ignoring God’s prompting to write faith-based songs, Christian-rock artist Jodi Essex is ready to answer it boldly with her album, releasing on June 26, 2020. John Mays, VP of A&R for Centricity, is one of Christian music’s most respected executives, having worked in A&R at Word, Sparrow, and Star Song Records before serving as president of Benson Records. Over his 35-year career, Mays discovered and signed Point Of Grace, Scott Krippayne, Cindy Morgan, Matt Redman, Nichole Nordeman, Warren Barfield, Jason Gray, and the Passion worship recordings. Mays helped found Centricity Music in 2005. He began his career in music at 17 as a musician, eventually landing jobs as a bass player with several bands and many Christian music recordings during the ’80s. Along the way, he co-wrote “Love In Any Language,” a career song for Sandi Patty included in CCM’s list of 100 greatest Christian songs. On this episode, we interview Melody Noel, co-founder of Influence Music. She shares her journey of becoming a Christian as an adult, pursuing a career in mainstream pop, and now running a worship record label. Orange County native, Melody Noel Hernandez, grew up listening and performing Mariachi music with her father, Jose Hernandez, a three time Grammy-nominated Mariachi composer. Considered the "black sheep" of the family, Melody was the first Hernandez in 125 year lineage to pursue a genre outside of Mariachi.  Her love for pop music led her to study at the Clive Davis School of Recorded Music at NYU with an emphasis on songwriting and business.  A student project created her sophomore year led to a publishing deal with Imagem Music, and the official start to her career in the music industry in 2012.​ Since then Melody as a songwriter has had an iTunes #1 single with Jennifer Lopez and Lin Manuel Miranda, and collectively has over 10 million plays as a featured EDM artist on Spotify with placements in shows such as American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and the 2016 Olympics. In 2017 Melody moved to Orange County, CA to co-found worship label & artist collective "Influence Music". Their debut album "Touching Heaven" went Billboard #2 and has had over 698,000 hours of streaming in 2018 alone.  Melody made her debut as an artist with her single "Mistakes" which made it in the top 30 of the Christian Radio airplay chart.
