A @Christadelphians Video: SummaryThis presentation explores the significance of Melchizedek and his connection to the Psalms, particularly Psalm 110, which is extensively referenced in the New Testament. It delves into the historical context of the priesthood during the time of Eli and the rise of King David, highlighting the importance of the Tabernacle and the establishment of Zion as the dwelling place of God. The presentation also discusses the typological role of David as a precursor to the Messiah, the faithful priest who would build a sure house and walk before the anointed forever.Highlights
Matthew 5:17-2617 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teachers others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 21“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgement.' 22But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgement; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!' Will be liable to the hell of fire. 23So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. 26Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny. Sermon Questions:1. What are some areas in your life where you've established 'little laws' to help you know you're 'doing good?'2. How does God's requirement of holiness - perfect obedience to a perfect law - strike your heart?3. What are your tactics to 'deal' with your anger?4. Where is Jesus' righteousness striking tension with sin in your heart? Bring it to Jesus - repent, believe!5. Who has 'something against you?' Go, be reconciled to them.

The Apostle Paul challenges our church to raise up godly leaders in Titus 1:5-9. Elders are one example of those kinds of leaders, but every believer should aspire to grow in spiritual maturity. As you prepare for the message, please read the passage and ask yourself," Am I growing in my love for the Lord?" "Do I lead/inspire others to know/worship Him?" "Does my character reflect my relationship with Jesus?"

I love the work that Child Beyond International does in Guatemala. This is a mission organization that is the most intentional overseas organization about rescuing the vulnerable that I've ever seen. They reach the kids that even other great mission organizations may miss. And I'd love for you to check out this organization and be changed in just 10,000 minutes! Why 10,000? Because 10,000 minutes is the exact amount of time spent on a seven-day mission trip. Child Beyond International has everything set up for you and your church to experience a powerful overseas mission trip that will not only change the life of someone in Guatemala, but amazingly, it changes lives for those who go on the mission trip as well. You and your church can be transformed in just 10,000 minutes. Truthfully, in my life, I can point to the impact that overseas missions trips had perhaps more than anything else in my faith formative years. And even still in my adulthood when I've had the chance to go. It changes my perspective, restores my purpose, and it grows my faith unlike any experience I've ever had. Mission trips are one of the most effective faith-building discipleship opportunities God provides for us, not only to make a huge spiritual difference in the life of one soul at a time, but in each one of our own spiritual lives as well! So, today, I invite you to check out the great work of our partner at their website www.childbeyond.org. There are too few churches like CityView. You cannot rub shoulders with a CityViewer without getting a clear sense of their sense of calling and their commitment to ministry. This is clearly a church on mission. It's like everyone in the community is driving hard, working with a profound sense of purpose, to reflect Christ and to carry the Gospel into the community. But, the most shocking part of it all? The leadership is young and they are working overtime--literally and figuratively--to invest in young men and women, raising up a generation of Christ followers who are wholeheartedly and earnestly engaging in making a difference.Today, G and Geoff attempt to crack their pastoral code and try to understand how Jeremiah's leadership can attract young people, encourage them to follow Christ, and then lead them towards sacrificial investment in engaging the hurting world around them.To learn more about CityView Church, follow this link.To learn about Pastor Jeremiah Semmler, click here. And, if you are not honestly and truly invested in a church community that is making a difference in your home and inspiring you to engage your community, it is time. This episode originally aired in May of 2023. During this season heading into a Presidential election - and all of the political news and discussions that permeate such a season - we believe this is a timely conversation to release as part of our summer hiatus time. Are you weary of the way that politics has seemed to seep into every corner of our lives, including in the education of even our youngest children? Ty Fischer and Veritas Dean of Students and humanities teacher Graham Dennis talk about the valuing a “pre-political” education, and what that looks like as we seek to cultivate a generation who can discuss an array of difficult topics with confidence, respect, and clarity. The discussion dives all the way back to the Ancient origins of the word politics and meanders into the modern era, helping us to discern how we can raise today's youth to be free thinking citizens who can rise above the mud slinging of today's political ideas. Books referenced in this episode include: Dorothy Sayers - The Mind of the Maker Plato - The Republic The Writings of Justin Martyr Russel Kirk - Edmund Burke: A Genius Reconsidered Josef Pieper - Leisure: The Basis of Culture

Today's Bible reading Jeremiah 23:1-16. Recommended reading Isaiah 56:9-12; Luke 11:39-52; 1 Corinthians 4:1-2; James 3:1. It's important to realize the high cost of sin. When we make certain choices it doesn't just affect us it also could affect those around you as well. We have to stop being selfish and be more mindful of those around us with our decisions. Let's pray and be strong before we give in to temptation, or dangerous pursuits. Let's have better self-control and discernment. I love you all prayers up family ! God promises that if we raise up a child in the way they should go, even if they stray, they're promised to return to their training. Or does He promise that? Find out what it means to train up a child and what that verse really says.
Haggai and Zechariah have finished their prophesying. At this time, God determined that the revelation which he had provided up to this point was enough; his word was sufficient. For this season, Israel did not need a “fresh word” from the Lord. Rather, Israel needed to be instructed in the meaning of all the words of God which they had already been given. What Israel needed now was simply to understand and obey.
