Catina's Daily Inspiration

Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man? A friend can be defined as a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection...and is typically exclusive of sexual or family relations. I am going to take it one step further and insist that you at least know their first and last name before you call them a true friend (btw...mine is Catina Shannon-Turner). Do you consider yourself to have many friends? A loyal friend is a precious gift from God. We bless our friends when we are loyal to them. And, in turn...we are blessed by their loyalty to us. For example...I have a wonderful friend who has known me for over twenty years. Today, I am headed to Las Vegas. Not to gamble though....no, not all. I'm excited because I get to see my good friend, Loretta. I haven't seen her in two years, and I can't wait to give her a great big ol' hug! I love and adore those I call my friends. I challenge you to take a few moments to pray for the people who have proven themselves to be loyal to you. Also, pray that God helps you to continue to be a loyal friend right back. James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Do you believe that prayer works? Some people believe that praying is a waste of time and changes nothing. The Bible tells us to pray in everything. If prayer changes nothing...then why does God's word instruct us to pray in everything? I believe that things do change for the better, with prayer. And YES, I pray about everything! I pray morning, noon and night. I pray for health, peace, finances...I pray for my family, friends, coworkers - I even pray for my dog. And my life is proof that prayer works! I had a praying grandma, praying parents, praying family and praying friends. I was sick from an infant to a young adult, but they prayed me well. I commuted 60 miles one way to work and back every single day for four years. My family prayed for protection over me. Oh yes...you may see my glory but you don't know my story. Just trust me when I tell you...PRAYER WORKS! And I challenge you today that if you don't have a testimony now, you will. Get busy praying and talking to God. Bless someone & be blessed...

Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Who are you currently following in your daily life? To follow someone consists of supporting them, observing them closely, to even allow them to influence your steps. When you follow someone on social media, you are showing that you are interested in everything they say and do. You even want to be notified every time they post something new. Is there anyone better to "follow" than Jesus?? The Bible says...follow Jesus and have the light of life. Follow Jesus and you will have true joy, happiness, peace of mind, abundant blessings that no one can ever take away from you. You do not get those kinds of things when you follow people like LeBron James, the Kardashians, or even Donald Trump. I challenge you today to choose the plan that offers the best long term benefits - ALWAYS FOLLOW JESUS! Bless someone & be blessed...

Psalm 86:12 I give thanks to you oh Lord my God, with my whole heart and I will glorify your name forever. Are you thankful for your family and friends? Too many people wait until Thanksgiving to say that they are thankful for the people they love the most. Why!! Why wait until the end of the year to tell your loved ones how much you appreciate them? There is no way for you to be certain that they will still be around by then. We must be thankful for everything, in all circumstances. Life is too short. We see people are dying every single day. Give them their flowers while they can smell them. We must celebrate everything... from the little wins to the big ones. I'm celebrating birthdays, birth of a child, new car, new house, new job, new chapter in your life, family reunions, Sunday dinner together with the family. You name it and I probably want to celebrate it. If God allowed you to see another day...give thanks! If you are in good health, give thanks! If you have a roof over your head... give thanks. I challenge you today to start giving thanks in all things and never take anything for granted. Bless someone & be blessed...

Psalm 125:1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever. Would you agree that God Almighty is unchanging, faithful, steady, true to His Word? The Bible tells us that when we trust God - we become strong, steady and faithful too. Our Heavenly Father pours out His holy spirit all around us to provide protection, guidance, correction. He gives us undeserved blessings and grace. Best of all...God provides us with His divine presence. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end. He goes before us and behind us. I challenge you today to take comfort that God cannot be shaken, nor stirred. He will never move away from us. Just as the city of Jerusalem is surrounded by mountains, God surrounds His people like an immovable giant...always and forever. Bless someone & be blessed...

1 John 1:19 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Do you believe that God will forgive you of your sins, if you ask Him? This scripture in 1 John confirms that. Yet, some still do not believe it. Just because you may be the type to hold a grudge...don't assume God is that way too. God Almighty is a forgiving God. However, you are gonna need to put a few things on your to-do list: 1) Confess your sins. It's funny how some folks are great at declaring other people's sins and mistakes...but they get real quiet when it's time to confess their own wrongs. 2) Forgive all who have done you wrong, so that God may forgive you. Yes...you must stop holding on to all that negative mess and let it go. There is no limit to God's mercy; there is no limit to God's grace. The Heavenly Father wants to forgive you today, He's just waiting on you. I challenge you today to make that crucial first move... confess your sins, forgive all who have trespassed against you - so that you may be cleansed, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. I will be everything that I aspire to be. Proverb 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established. Do you remember as a child, adults often asked "What do you wanna be when you grow up?" What did you answer when asked that question? Chances are the answer has changed a few times. For example: when I was a kid...I wanted to be Wonder Woman. And we see how that turned out.

I will regard humility as an asset. Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Do you consider yourself a very humble person? Or do you believe that you are the best thing created since sliced bread? Many people credit all of their possessions and achievements to themselves. They act as if God had absolutely nothing to do with all the good in their life. NEWS FLASH: Humility is a wonderful thing! God wants us to act with humility in everything we do. When we put the needs of others before our own...then we are truly embodying what it means to be like Him. You cannot show compassion and thoughtfulness to others if you are always so consumed with self. I challenge you from now on to practice humility in everything you say and everything you do. I will keep putting one foot in front of the other. Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary and doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Do you get tired sometimes? Tired of being the bigger person, tired of always doing what you're supposed to do - when others clearly do not? It may even seem like the people who are doing what they're supposed to do are the ones who can't catch a break! Believe me...you are not alone! I think we all get to feeling that way at some point. However, I am here to tell you that your break is coming! The Heavenly Father wants his people to hold on just a little while longer. Keep looking to him for your strength keep looking to him for courage! Whatever it is that is making you want to give up, God can help you through it! We serve a God who celebrates endurance and perseverance. Your efforts are not in vain. I challenge you today to hold on...continue to put one foot in front of the other, keep on praising God. He will fill in all your "not enoughs" with His divine, abundant provisions. And it will finally be your time to reap the fruits of your harvest. Bless someone & be blessed...

I will be the first to apologize, when necessary. 2 Timothy 2:14 Keep reminding God's people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; It is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. Are you good at saying you're sorry? What about if you've done nothing wrong? For some folks, apologizing can be one of the hardest things to do. Apologizing is to confess your sins and attempt to make some type of reconciliation. The Bible tells us that if we sin against or wrong someone, we should confess that sin before God and others. Okay, so when you are wrong, apologize - that's pretty simple. Now, what about when you are not wrong? Oh yes!! It's much harder to apologize for something when you feel you have nothing to apologize for. No matter if they are a family member, friend, neighbor, stranger, or your significant other... God instructs us to love one another. If you do everything in love, if you do everything to bring glory and honor to God...then you should have no problem saying those two little, but very important words: "I'm sorry". I challenge you today to toss that ego out the window, forget about how RIGHT you know you are, and focus on the value of the other person, what they mean to you, and more importantly...what they mean to God.
