[1 Cor 13:1-7] "Love is patient" is not merely a wedding verse—it is a command for how Christians treat one another in the local church. The same God who is “slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Exodus 34:6) calls His people to reflect that same patience actively among the saints, even when it's difficult.

Til Death… or 20 Grand Do Us Part?
Discover how patient love, prudent boundaries, and biblical truths about God's design empower flourishing, healing, and lasting connection.
This week, Rev. Nicole Unice helps us look honestly at where we really are on the journey of love as she unpacks one short but searching line from 1 Corinthians 13: “Love is patient… it is not easily angered.” Nicole shows that this passage isn't just wedding poetry—it's a picture of deep spiritual transformation. Together, we explore a simple framework for locating our own hearts (asleep, resistant, open, or surrendered), then dive into what patience actually requires: calm endurance, perseverance, emotional self-control, and a long-term focus. With humor and real-life stories—from traffic jams to coffee drive-thrus—she reframes anger as a “check engine light” for the soul, not a feeling to deny or a license to explode. You'll learn five root causes of anger (hurt, pride, frustration and control, fear and insecurity, and holy indignation), and how each irritation or provocation can become training ground with the Holy Spirit as your guide. More than a call to “try harder,” this message invites you to let Jesus' own unprovoked, patient love reshape how you respond to the people and pressures in front of you today. May we become people whose patience and holy restraint make the love of Jesus believable in an easily provoked world.

Today I'm starting a new series on 1 Corinthians 13 (the love chapter) and it starts with patience. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:4, "Love is patient and kind…" Paul pairs these two attributes of love together because the complement one another. Patience isn't "just sticking it out" or begrudgingly tolerating someone or a situation. That's stubbornness. It's an intentional action paired with kindness. It's not enough to grit your teeth and get through a bad situation. That's not love. Being kind and not getting angry are just as important in a trying situation as accepting the situation you're in. How Can We Apply This to Pickleball? Patience is key when playing pickleball. Kindness is equally as important. Pickleball News If you haven't heard already, Andre Agassi is making his pickleball pro debut at the Minto US Open Pickleball Championships and will will partner up with Anna Leigh Waters. When asked about partnering with ALW he said, "[T]he idea of challenging myself to not screw things up for her is daunting.” Pickleball Tip Jordan Briones from Briones pickleball provides this week's tip. In this video where he talks about coaching Augie Ge, Jordan says being aware that something needs to change is important for improving at pickleball. Closing Remarks Next week we'll cover the how love and kindness go together so make sure you're following the podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify so you don't miss the episode. Love is Patient and so are you guys for waiting forever for these episodes to drop. Also this is in two parts because my laptop is on its last legs. I don't know if you know this but Christine is Getting Married. I start the episode dumping all my medical trauma. Mykelti tries to steal the spotlight multiple times. Kody has FOMO and Robyn "wishes them well". Tony tries to produce. Honestly the most exciting part of this episode was watching some of the relationship dynamics watching Kody go full on squirrel and cut down a tree. Pastor Ray Bentley says real friendship loves even when it's inconvenient. Human nature is when people are going through really rough times. Then we'll call them for a while. We'll visit them for a while. Let them get through this rough patch, and then we'll hook up and have great times later. Someone as well said that the definition of a friend is that the one who walks in the door at the very same day that everyone else walked out the door
The gospel can change lives. But today, pastor Ray Bentley says we need to let the gospel remain unedited. There is a version of Christianity that's very popular. It brings people together. It's very uniting. But the cross part of it is often, in one way or another, either diluted or sought to be removed. Paul said then, and I believe it's still true today.

True love invests in the people who bother us most.
What Matters Most | Week 1: Love is Patient and Kind // Ryland Walter // Life is all about love. Through this series, our church will be shaped by a developed picture of what love is and is not through scripture (1 Corinthians 13). Learning to love unselfishly is not an easy task. That's why we're given a lifetime to learn what matters most.
Were the Beatles right when they sang, ‘All You Need Is Love'? ‘It's easy', they crooned. We would all likely agree that love is not as easy as the song claims. Yet they were getting at the truth that the bible reached a long time before Lennon and McCartney wrote that song. It all boils down to love. Love God and love each other. Jesus promised, “By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35. Yet in our increasingly divided world, what is most important often seems to be the most lacking. How well will we love as a nation-wide election is upon us? How distinct will our love be as our culture tries to force us to redefine it? Will people know we belong to Jesus by the way we love each other in our church? Come along with us as we sit at the feet of 1 Corinthians 13 and look closely at a diamond called Love with all its brilliant, flawless facets. What we will see is the character of Jesus reflecting back to us. Our aim is to discover what Love Is and how we can have the power to live it out.
How many times have we asked ourselves, “God where are you?”. This is never so pressing as when we have an urgent need that only God can work out. God always invites us into greater revelation of who He is His goodness, His compassion, His mastery and His beauty! Join Pastor Larry McKnight as we tackle this question, discussions on the nature of “hell” and God’s goodness in this powerful, and surprisingly delightful (given its topics) message? Let's take a "beat" and check ourselves in regards to love. What is God's love standard and are we on pace with it?
Questions answered this episode: I've heard Christoper say many times “Christian know thyself” and thought I knew what it meant but have been searching for the quote and can't seem to find it. Where does this quote come from and what does it mean? How do you respond to the arguments about how homosexuality, masturbation and pedophilia are natural because animals do it? I've heard you mention that when a christian prays, he's seeking nuptial union with Christ. How can we position our hearts to lean more into this? What would be the fruit of this union? Ask Christopher West is a weekly podcast in which Theology of the Body Institute President Christopher West and his beloved wife Wendy share their humor and wisdom, answering questions about marriage, relationships, life, and the Catholic faith, all in light of John Paul II's beautiful teachings on the Theology of the Body.
