여러분은 더운 여름에 뜨거운 음식을 먹어본 적이 있나요?
보통은 여름이면 시원한 음식을 먹고 싶죠 냉면이나 빙수, 아이스크림 같은 음식이 생각납니다.
그런데 한국에는 아주 더운 여름날에 일부러 뜨거운 음식을 먹는 전통이 있습니다.
바로 복날입니다. 오늘은 한국의 복날에 대해 이야기를 해보려고 해요.
먼저 복날이 무엇인지 알아볼까요? 복날은 여름 중에서도 가장 더운 시기를 말합니다.
초복, 중복, 말복 이렇게 세 번이 있어요. 매번 날짜는 조금씩 다르지만 보통 7월과 8월 사이에 있습니다.
2026년 올해에는 초복이 7월 15일, 중복이 7월 25일, 말복이 8월 14일입니다. 이 시기를 한국에서는 삼복 더위라고 해요. 정말 덥고 습해서 밖에서 잠깐만 걸어도 땀이 많이 나는 시기예요.
그런데 왜 이렇게 더운 날에 뜨거운 음식을 먹을까요?
한국에는 이열치열이라는 말이 있어요. 열은 열로 다스린다라는 뜻이에요.
더운 여름에 더운 음식을 먹고 몸의 기운을 보충하고 여름을 건강하게 보내자는 의미가 담겨 있습니다.
오랫동안 이어져 온 한국의 전통 문화예요. 복날 하면 가장 먼저 떠오르는 음식은 바로 삼계탕입니다.
삼계탕은 닭 안에 찹쌀, 마늘, 대추, 인삼 등을 넣고 오래 끓인 음식입니다.
국물도 진하고 몸이 따뜻해지는 느낌이 들어서 많은 사람들이 좋아해요.
복날이 되면 유명한 삼계탕집에는 긴 줄이 생기기도 합니다.
가족이나 친구와 함께 삼계탕을 먹으면서 건강하게 여름을 보내기를 바랍니다.
사실 요즘에는 복날을 꼭 챙기지 않는 사람도 많아요.
특히 젊은 사람들은 그냥 맛있는 음식 먹으면 되지 왜 더운 날 더운 음식을 먹어라고 생각하기도 해요.
그래서 냉면이나 햄버거를 먹는 사람도 있고 그냥 평소와 똑같이 식사하는 사람도 많습니다.
하지만 뉴스에서는 매년 봄날이 되면 삼계탕 이야기와 닭고기 가격 이야기가 나오고 식당들도 복날 특별 메뉴를 준비합니다.그래서 복날은 여전히 한국의 여름을 대표하는 문화 가운데 하나라고 할 수 있을 것 같아요.여러분의 나라에도 여름에 특별히 먹는 음식이 있나요?

I hope this episode helps with your Korean learning.안녕하세요. 한국어와 한국 문화를 사랑하는 여러분 여니쌤입니다.오늘도 함께해 주셔서 감사합니다. 잘 지내셨나요?오늘은 여름에 잘 어울리는 재미있는 이야기를 해보려고 해요.바로 귀신 이야기예요. 여러분은 귀신 이야기를 좋아하시나요?무서운 영화나 무서운 이야기를 좋아하는 사람도 있고 너무 무서워서 싫어하는 사람도 있죠.저는 사실 공포 영화를 잘 못 봐요. 보고 나면 밤에 혼자 화장실 가는 것도 조금 무섭더라고요.그래도 신기하게 무서운 이야기는 또 궁금해요. 여러분도 그런 적 있나요?무서운데 계속 보고 싶다 이런 기분을 느껴본 적이 있어요.한국에서는 여름이 되면 귀신 이야기나 공포 영화가 정말 인기가 많아요.왜 그럴까요? 옛날부터 사람들은 무서운 이야기를 들으면 등골이 서늘해진다고 생각했어요.서늘하다는 조금 차갑게 느껴진다는 뜻이에요. 무서운 이야기를 들으면 소름이 돋고 몸이 오싹해지잖아요.그래서 더운 여름에 무서운 이야기를 들으면서 더위를 잊으려고 했어요.그래서 한국에서는 여름마다 공포 영화가 많이 개봉해요.텔레비전에서도 무서운 특집 프로그램을 자주 했어요.요즘은 유튜브에서도 귀신 이야기나 괴담 영상을 쉽게 볼 수 있는 것 같아요.여러분은 귀신과 괴물의 차이를 아시나요? 귀신은 죽은 사람의 영혼이라고 생각하는 존재예요.반면에 괴물은 상상 속의 무서운 생물이에요. 예를 들면 좀비나 괴수 같은 것들이죠.한국 귀신은 보통 하얀 옷을 입고 긴 검은 머리를 하고 있는 모습으로 많이 나와요.혹시 이런 귀신을 본 적 있으세요? 아마 한국 공포 영화에서 봤을 거예요.사실 이런 모습은 전통 문화의 영향을 받은 거예요.옛날에는 흰 옷을 많이 입었고 장래와도 관련이 있어서 이런 이미지가 생겼다고 해요.한국에는 유명한 귀신 이야기가 많아요. 예를 들면 학교 귀신 이야기 밤이 되면 아무도 없는 학교에서 이상한 소리가 들린다거나음악실에서 피아노가 혼자 연주된다거나 거울 속에 이상한 사람이 보인다는 이야기가 있어요.이런 이야기를 괴담이라고 불러요. 무섭고 신기한 이야기예요.사실인지 아닌지는 모르지만 많은 사람들이 재미로 이야기해요.여러분은 귀신을 믿으시나요? 아니면 귀신은 없다고 생각하시나요?여러분 나라에도 유명한 귀신 이야기가 있어요. 오늘은 여름과 귀신 이야기 그리고 한국의 공포 문화에 대해 간단하게 이야기해봤어요.여러분은 무서운 영화를 좋아하시나요? 아니면 절대 못 보시나요?댓글로 여러분의 이야기를 들려주세요. 오늘도 제 팟캐스트를 들어주셔서 정말 감사합니다.다음에도 재미있는 한국 문화 이야기로 찾아올게요.여러분 안녕.
