Over the years the gospel has been diluted I remember being taught In boarding school that hearing the gospel would limit your chances of going to hell. And boy oh boy that stuck! And so subconsciously I would always want to be around people who were preaching the said gospel. My heart was so full of fear that I never wanted to miss out on a chance to hear the gospel because I didn't want to go to hell. But that's not the aim of the gospel, the gospel doesn't breed fear because the gospel is good news and not bad news. The gospel is Gods free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord.The true gospel specifically refers to the means by which we are saved.
