The audio explores several key themes related to spiritual growth and living a godly life, drawing on the stories of David and Solomon. The talk focuses on: The heart's role in spiritual growth: The speaker emphasizes that a heart devoted to God is the foundation of a faithful life. He discusses the importance of having a "whole-hearted desire" and "devotedness" for God, as our intentions and what we love most shape our actions. David's final charge to Solomon: David's final instructions to Solomon are not about wealth or military power, but about the value of faithfulness and living for God. David encourages Solomon to learn about God intimately, to seek Him, and to serve Him with a willing mind. The importance of obedience and following God's word: The speaker stresses that obedience is not just a duty but a response of love. He references the stories of David and Moses to show how following God's commands and seeking His guidance leads to a purposeful life. The need for courage and perseverance: Living a godly life often requires courage, especially when facing difficult tasks or peer pressure. The speaker highlights David's call to Solomon to "be strong and do it," reminding us that God is with us and will not forsake us. The value of influence and mentorship: We are all called to lead and influence those around us, pointing them towards Christ and a life of truth.

0:00 – Welcome and Anniversary Greetings** The speaker opens by greeting the congregation in the name of the Lord and celebrating the **23rd Anniversary** of the church, acknowledging God's faithfulness over more than two decades.0:45 – Theme: Taste and See** Introduction of the central scriptural theme: **"Taste and see that the Lord is good."** The speaker encourages the audience to personally attest to God's goodness.1:15– The Red Light Analogy: Patience and Divine Order** An illustration regarding traffic signals. The speaker discusses the consequences of rushing through a "red light" and the importance of following order even when in a hurry.2:00 – The Swimming Pool: Observers vs. Participants** A comparison between people who stand around the pool giving advice ("move your legs," "stretch your arms") and those who actually **get into the water**. This serves as a metaphor for people who talk about faith without experiencing it.3:15 – Overcoming Fear: The Story of the Four-Year-Old Son** A personal anecdote about the speaker's young son. Initially terrified of the water, the boy only discovered he could **float** after being placed in the pool, moving from fear to a desire to keep jumping in.4:00 – Conclusion: A Call to Spiritual Discipline**This message was delivered during the 23rd Anniversary celebrations of a local church to honor and remember God's faithfulness over more than two decades. Drawing from the scripture, "Taste and see that the Lord is good," the speaker challenges the congregation to move beyond being mere spectators of faith to becoming active participants. The discourse uses relatable life analogies to illustrate spiritual truths:• The Red Light: An illustration of the importance of patience and following divine order, even when one is in a hurry.• The Swimming Pool: A comparison between those who stand on the sidelines giving advice and those who actually dive into the water. The speaker shares a personal story of his four-and-a-half-year-old son overcoming his fear of swimming only after being tossed into the water, discovering that he could float.Ultimately, the message serves as a call to spiritual discipline and growth, encouraging believers to personally experience God's goodness rather than just watching others or talking about it

Life Upside Down - Pt 5 - This passage from 1 Thessalonians 4 is such a grounded, practical call to action. It moves from the high theology of "God's will" straight into the nitty-gritty of how we use our bodies, how we treat our neighbors, and even how we handle our day jobs.

It is not enough to see our kids come to Jesus. Rather, our goal should be to lead them into walking with Jesus, both now and for the rest of their lives. Some three hundred and seventy five years ago, the Puritan pastor Jeremiah Burroughs wrote about what it means to walk with God. He wrote, "Walking with God is when we make God's will the rule of our will. The soul does what God does. What's the way of God but the way of holiness and righteousness, when the soul makes the will of God to be its own rule? I will not act on my own will. I will not act on anything but the will of God. What is it that God wills? Then I will the same thing. The soul walks the way God walks when it suits itself with God, when it sets the Lord as an example before it. This is to walk with God: to do as God does, to imitate God." Parents, God has willed that you be the one to nurture your children in the faith. You do so through your words and your actions. And there's not substitute for the example of your walk with God.

^ Truths For Your Walk With God, Feb. 4, 2025 by Bible Baptist Church - Brookings, SD
Thank you for lending us your heart and your ears during this month of LOVE. This is part 1 of our 4 part series during February that will focus on deeply truthful discussions of Love and how to look at it through the lens of Theology of the Body. In this first episode we want to take you somewhere unexpected. Before we talk about romance, relationships or even the call to Love another person we are going to pause and look at something foundational, Solitude. This will be a look at the more mysterious solitude that Pope St. John Paul describes as the one that existed before the first human relationship. JP II describes the time before Adam met Eve and before Eve met Adam as Original Solitude. This solitude is the solitude that allowed Adam and Eve to better understand themselves, to truly know God and to eventually know each other in communion and relationship. So settle in for a conversation about the importance of the quiet before LOVE.

In this episode, I'm sharing what the Lord has been teaching me about faith, stewardship, and obedience, not just in our personal walk with God, but in the way we build what He has entrusted to us. Because when God places a message on your life, it is not random. It is not small. It is not just "something you care about." It is an assignment. I believe this is especially true for Christian authors. Many authors are trying to sell their books using traditional methods, and they often feel discouraged when it doesn't work. Book signings, Amazon bestseller strategies, endless posting on social media, and even podcast tours can leave you exhausted with little to show for it if you do not understand what actually drives book sales today. In this episode, I walk you through the deeper issue beneath the frustration. Fear, hesitation, striving, and carrying the pressure alone. Then I show you the biblical foundation of sowing and reaping, and what it really looks like to be faithful with what God has entrusted to you, even when you are still building, still growing, and still becoming established. This is not just about "marketing." It is about obedience. It is about stewardship. It is about building with diligence and faith so the fruit of your message can multiply beyond you. What do I do outside of this podcast? I help Christian authors sell their books by building a simple funnel that positions their message with authority and creates automated, consistent book sales. Join my waitlist for my upcoming $27 training and learn the new way to sell your book on automation. Join Waitlist Here

Scripture operates on cause and effect, and that reality does not weaken God's sovereignty. It reveals it. In this episode, I explore how God intentionally designed covenant to include choice, consequence, and responsibility. From sowing and reaping to obedience and endurance, the Bible consistently shows that what we choose produces real outcomes, both in this life and in eternity. This is not because God lacks control, but because His sovereignty includes granting humanity real agency within His plan. We will talk about why forgiveness does not remove earthly consequences, why obedience is not legalism, and why faith that remains passive does not reflect the fullness of biblical faith. God is not reacting to human decisions. He authored a world where truth responds to choice. Cause and effect are evidence of God's design. God remains fully sovereign while honoring the freedom He gave us. Covenant was never about control. It was about relationship, trust, and the formation of a people who choose Him in truth and endurance. If you have wrestled with how free will, obedience, and eternal life coexist under a sovereign God, this conversation will bring clarity without compromise. In today's episode, Hunter invites us into the fifth day of our journey through the scriptures, exploring Genesis 12–14 and Luke 5. As we travel with Abram through moments of faith and challenge, witness God's promises unfold, and encounter Jesus calling his disciples, healing the outcast, and challenging the religious status quo, we're reminded that these stories point us towards transformation in Christ's love. Hunter reflects on what it means to walk with the Bridegroom—to live joyfully in Jesus's presence, embracing an abundant, childlike faith even in times of hardship or grief. As always, the episode weaves in meaningful prayer and encouragement for your journey, offering hope, comfort, and a reminder that you are deeply loved. Settle in and let God's word nurture your heart today—let's continue this journey together! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Is the bridegroom with us or not? That's the question that comes to the surface as we listen to Jesus respond to the religious leaders in Luke 5. They were disturbed, unsettled by Jesus and his disciples, and how different they seemed from the expected religious norm. Why all the eating and drinking, the lightness and celebration? Shouldn't holy people look more somber, more weighed down by the gravity of spiritual things? But Jesus invites us into a startling possibility—when the bridegroom is with us, it's not a time for gloom. It's not the season for heavy restriction or ritual sadness. It's time to live, to eat and drink, to walk in the abundant life and the joyful celebration of his presence. There certainly is a time for mourning, for fasting, Jesus says. There are seasons of loss and waiting and longing. And yet, even then—for those who belong to Jesus—those seasons are now carried out in the presence and company of the One who is our comforter, our wisdom, our light. He walks with us even through the valley of the shadow of death. He prepares a table for us, a banquet of grace, even when we are surrounded by difficulty, sorrow, or even our enemies. This is the new wine that Jesus brings, the unexpected freedom and fullness of life that flows from walking with the bridegroom. It is a new thing—and sometimes, we may struggle to accept the joy, the lightness, the new way Jesus calls us into. The religious self in us may want to revert back to old patterns, the requisite religious gloom. But Jesus calls us forward, into a childlike, unselfconscious, abundant life, alive to his joyous presence. He's making all things new, and that includes you and me. The prayer of my own heart is that I will live today awake to the bridegroom's presence. That I might even surprise myself with the freedom, joy, and love that spring up when I remember who is with me—the bright and morning star, my joy, my life. In sorrow or in celebration, in fasting or in feasting, may I choose to live as a loved child of God who walks in the newness Christ has made. That's my prayer for my soul, for my family, and for you today. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. *Listen to the Show notes and podcast transcript with this multi-language player. Summary This episode explores the essential process of spiritual growth for new believers and the importance of being integrated into a living, functioning Body of Christ. The speakers emphasize that Christianity is not an individual journey but a shared walk where believers are brought into oneness, trained to wait on the Lord, and taught by impartation—not just teaching. Small groups, relationships, and spiritual family dynamics are highlighted as the key environment where believers mature, learn to hear God, and develop genuine oneness in the Spirit. The episode stresses the supernatural nature of the Body of Christ and the deep need for relationship, impartation, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Often in Scripture, our relationship with God is described as a walk. Sometimes we'll use the phrase “we are on a journey.” This idea goes back to the relationship Adam and Eve had with God in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3:8 - “God, as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.” Main Points:1. When I preach funerals, I'll often say, “The best gift you can give your family and friends is the assurance that you are in Heaven. Let your legacy be that you loved and served Jesus faithfully. Leave behind the powerful memory that you were someone who walked with God.2. The Bible teaches us as believers to walk in love, walk in the light, walk in wisdom, and walk in the Spirit. These instructions remind us that the Christian life is not static. It's not stationary. There is no place to stop. There is no plateau of spiritual growth. There is no place of arrival, where we can stop growing in our relationship with God. We must keep walking. 3. So, today, let's get out our walking shoes. Let's spend time with Jesus. Let's journey with Him. Let's grow in our relationship with God. Today is a good day to grow spiritually.Today's Scripture Verses:Micah 6:8 - “walk humbly with your God.” 2 Corinthians 6:16 - “As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”Genesis 5:24 - “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”Hebrews 11:5 - “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
This episode focuses on the themes of transition and impartation in the spiritual journey, using the biblical stories of Elijah, Elisha, and Gehazi to illustrate how walking with God leads to seasons of change, growth, and responsibility. The speaker emphasizes the importance of moving from being a spiritual son or daughter to becoming a spiritual parent, imparting wisdom and anointing to others. Through examples from 1 Kings and 2 Kings, the message highlights obedience, humility, and the dangers of pride and transactional thinking, ultimately calling listeners to embrace a life of daily surrender and contentment in godliness rather than seeking personal gain or recognition.
Have you ever wondered why some believers seem to walk with God in a way that feels stable, supernatural, and deeply connected — even when nothing in the natural seems to make sense?
