How size-inclusive is the bridal industry? In this episode, Associate Features Editor Ana Escalante breaks down her recent piece about her search for the perfect wedding dress as a plus-size bride. She and Editorial Director Lauren Eggertsen unpack the unfair dilemma that plus-size brides often find themselves in: either shopping for a mass market dress that doesn't suit their style, or paying tens of thousands for a custom gown because the demi couture boutiques don't offer their size. Ana shares clips of her interview with plus-size bridal stylist Alysia Cole about the bridal “fat tax” — as well as her interviews with bridal designers Alexandra Grecco and Jenny Yoo about what brands can do to make every bride feel beautiful. Plus, Ana and Lauren give their advice to any bride looking for the dress of their dreams.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Bobby has an eating challenge that he proposes to the show. If someone can eat 70 Hot Dogs in 24 hours they will win $500 bucks. We break down the math, science and see if someone will take him up on the offer for all of our entertainment. In the Anonymous Inbox, Bobby helps a listener who needs advice on what to get his girlfriend of 6 months for her birthday when she says 'anything is fine'. We talked about the Bride who put ‘plus-size’ wedding guests at the ‘Weight Watchers’ table — and claimed it was a ‘body positive’ thing. Bobby helps a caller with a question about cheating and when it's right or wrong. Lunchbox also expresses a desire to get revenge on his wife for cheating on him.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of VBAC Home Birth Stories, we're diving into a topic that deserves real talk and respect—plus size pregnancy and birth. If you've ever been made to feel like your body is a medical condition rather than a life-giving force, this episode is for you.I share my personal experiences navigating the maternity system as a plus-size woman, from early pregnancy bias to the constant fear-mongering around birth choices. We also explore how plus-size women can reclaim their power, whether choosing a home birth or hospital birth, and what size-friendly care should actually look like.If you've ever been told you can't have a VBAC, must be induced, or will develop gestational diabetes simply because of your size—this episode will challenge everything you've been led to believe. What We Cover in This Episode:
Michelle Buteau has been a working actor and comedian for more than 20 years. In that time, she says it was rare that she'd come across a role that celebrated plus-size women — so she decided to create her own. Her show “Survival of the Thickest” is now back for its second season. Michelle joins Tom Power to tell us why she wanted to create a story about plus-size folks that's celebratory and joyful. If you like this conversation, take a listen to Tom's interview with actor and comedian Ilana Glazer from last year.

Being the biggest (in size) of 9 siblings, Omolora realised at an early age that she looked different from most people. Nevertheless her larger than life personality made it hard not to love her. She refused to get off the bus so children wouldn't ridicule her in high school & would hide during lunch time avoiding to purchase food. But with a bit of motivation from one of her teachers; she emerged as Head Girl, she made history TWICE being Guild President at University of the West Indies (Mona) for 2 years consecutively and the FIRST plus size National Festival Queen of Jamaica!

Tabria connects with friend and fellow model, podcast host, body inclusivity activist, and mom Hunter McGrady for an eye-opening conversation on the discrimination plus-size women experience and the archaic misconceptions about plus-size pregnancies, which are still being perpetuated. Hunter shares why she advocates for normalizing - not criticizing - formula feeding after grief drastically reduced her milk supply, why she vowed never to speak negatively about her body in front of her kids, what's in her mental health toolkit, and helpful tips for finding doctors, therapists, and nannies. Full Plate: Ditch diet culture, respect your body, and set boundaries.
Shira Rosenbluth, LCSW, returns to discuss what it means to live a full life in a fat body. She catches us up on eating disorder recovery (two years after her first time on the pod), coming out as queer, how her relationship with her fiance has impacted her body image, planning a wedding as a plus-size bride, and what it's felt like to witness the constant chatter of GLP-1s while recovering from a life-long eating disorder. Last time she was on the pod, we spoke about her experience with atypical anorexia and quasi- recovery. Now, two years later, we hear about how her recovery has solidified, why restriction is no longer an option for her, and what has helped her stay firm in that place -- despite the negative thoughts and noise from diet culture. Listen to hear more about: What's on Shira's plate How her recovery has been going since the last time she was on the pod Why lab values are not always a good indicator of how sick you are Realizing that restrictive behaviors no longer serve her How her relationship with her fiance has changed her view on restriction Why creating a life outside of eating disorder behaviors is just as important as stopping the behaviors themselves Why being nourished enables room for reliance in other aspects of life Her experience coming out as queer and living authentically herself That people in all sized bodies find love, and thinness is not a prerequisite for finding a loving relationship How recovery is full of ups and downs and is not always blissful Planning for a wedding in a larger body Making sure you utilize resources to support you navigating recovery The impact of Ozempic on eating disorder recovery So much more! Shira Rosenbluth, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker treating clients in New York and California. She specializes in the treatment of disordered eating, eating disorders, and body-image dissatisfaction using a weight-neutral approach. She's also the author of a popular body positive blog and has been featured in The New York Times, Insider, The Cut, The Everygirl, InStyle, and Healthline.
