Utah State football dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in Mountain West play after a 33-14 loss at New Mexico on Saturday afternoon. The Lobos opened scoring with a punt return touchdown and built an early 16-0 lead after a safety and an interception derailed the Aggies' initial drives. Utah State found the end zone before halftime on a 64-yard touchdown run by senior running back Miles Davis, who finished with a game-high 110 rushing yards and one score. Quarterback Bryson Barnes finished with 164 yards passing and threw a 13-yard touchdown to wide receiver Braden Pegan in the second half, but the Lobos secured the victory by converting a fake punt and scoring late to maintain their comfortable lead. Utah State football battled to a draw with No. 18 Vanderbilt through the first 27 minutes of play but was unable to keep pace as the Aggies ultimately fell to the Commodores, 55-35, on Saturday afternoon at FirstBank Stadium. Quarterback Bryson Barnes accounted for five touchdowns and a career-high 421 yards of total offense, leading Utah State to a 48-7 victory over McNeese on Saturday night. Barnes threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a season-high 128 yards and two more scores. This performance makes him the only player in the nation this season with multiple games scoring at least two rushing and two passing touchdowns. The Aggies' defense was also dominant, holding McNeese to just 239 total yards, the lowest by a USU opponent since 2021.
