What is success? The answer seems to depend on who you ask. Some say that success is based on achieving as much prestige, pleasure, possessions or power as you can in your life. But in the end, the words of a man who had all of this (and more) discovered that all of it is ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things. What does God say about true success? We will take a look at the world's view of success vs God's view of success.

Where did the world and people come from? Why is the earth shaped as it is, with land and water? Where did rain come from, and why are there so many nations and languages? And why does our world, alongside such beauty, also hold brokenness—sin, suffering, and even murder?The answers to these questions—and so many more—are found in the first eleven chapters of the Bible, Genesis 1–11. Life is hard because so often life really hurts. And everyone knows what it is like to be hurt. Whether it is physical, mental, relational, emotional or spiritual pain, we all are experiencing it, have experienced it, or will experience it in our lives. That's why A.W. Tozer wisely stated that when we “speak to the broken-hearted, we will never lack for an audience.” So what do people do when life really hurts? Oftentimes, it is the exact opposite of what we should do. In this series, we will look at what God says we should do when life really hurts and how we can apply it to virtually any hurtful situation that we encounter in our lives. We'll provide help and hope for people who hurt so that they can learn how to handle life's hurts in ways that add purpose to any pain.

“What the world needs now is love sweet love”. “All we need is love”. “The power of love”. “Love is thicker than water”. “I think I love you”. “Love will keep us together”. There are many songs that espouse the virtue and value of love and how our world really needs love if it wants to survive. Despite this, our world is sorely lacking in love. There is a lack of love everywhere we turn— it's on the streets, at our workplaces, in our neighborhoods, and even in families. So what's the problem? Simply put, while our world talks about love, it clearly has no answer for what true love is, how love is expressed, and where love comes from. Without those answers, we will never express true love. Perhaps one song says it best when it comes to the world's understanding of love: “I want to know what love is”. The Good News is that we can know what true love is, how to express it to others, and where it comes from. In these series, we'll provide answers to these questions about love and learn how there is no greater love than the love of God expressed in Jesus Christ. And when we live out these answers, we can be truly loving people who become part of the solution to relational trouble instead of the problem.

The Christmas season is one of the busiest and most complex times of the year for many of us.  We spend so much time decorating our homes, planning for and attending parties, shopping and buying gifts for family and friends, attending our kids and grandkids special events at school, being with family we haven't seen in a while, and so much more.  By the time Christmas arrives, we're usually glad that all of the frantic pace that we have lived with is behind us.  What a contrast it is from the original Christmas!  On a winter night about 2,030 years ago, Jesus was born in a manger with little fanfare from a preoccupied world.  The birth of Jesus was a simple event that is so different from what we see all around us at Christmas all these years later.  Yet, while Christmas was a simple event, it's meaning, significance and impact on the world was profound and transformative beyond what anyone could ever fully grasp then and even now.  In this series, we'll help provide clarity and depth to the true meaning and significance of Christmas, and help you get back to a more simple appreciation for the profound mystery of God coming into the world as a man in His Son Jesus Christ.
