God is faithful by whom ye aere called into the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Bible in a Year: Deuteronomy 8-10 & Mark 11:19-33, 

Ifelt led to go through this book with you because we live in a world todayfilled with chaos, confusion, and division. It is a world filled withtremendous hurt, pain, and suffering—filled with wars and rumors of wars. OnlyGod knows what's going to come next. But my friend, in the midst of all that,the believer in Jesus Christ is promised the joy of Jesus Christ. In Gospel ofJohn 15:11, Jesus Himself said this to His disciples: “These things I havespoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” Todaywe find that people are consumed with a passionate pursuit of happiness.Everywhere you turn there are self-help books, motivational speakers, podcasts,influencers, and advice columns that promise the secret to happiness. Peopleare constantly searching for something that will finally make them feelsatisfied. Many believe happiness can be found in a better job, a better house,a better relationship, or sometimes even a better church. But when those thingsfail to bring happiness, they simply move on to the next thing. Life becomes aconstant search for something that always seems just out of reach. Eventually,many people begin to feel the way Solomon felt when he wrote in the book of Ecclesiastesthousands of years ago. After literally trying almost everything imaginable tobring pleasure and happiness into one's life, he wrote: “Vanity of vanities.All is vanity and vexation of spirit.” In other words, it's all empty. Nomatter what you might gain in this world, if you do not have a relationshipwith God through Jesus Christ, it will still be empty. Jesusnot only promised joy—He prayed that His disciples would experience the veryjoy that He Himself experienced. In John 17:13 Jesus prayed: “But now I cometo You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joyfulfilled in themselves”. God wants us to experience that kind of joy. TheBible speaks about something far deeper and more lasting than happiness. Thisis what the Bible calls joy. Happiness is based on circumstances. When thingsgo well, we feel happy. But when things go poorly, that happiness quicklydisappears. Biblical joy is very different. Ilike what John wrote not only in the Gospel of John, but also in the epistle of1 John 1:3-4: “That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that youalso may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Fatherand with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joymay be full”. God wants us to experience that kind of fullness in life—adeep satisfaction that I am complete! I have found the true meaning of lifethat Jesus came to give us. In John 10:10 Jesus said: “The thief does notcome except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they mayhave life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”   Itseems to me that we are living in a time when, every time I turn around, I hearof someone else committing suicide—taking their own life. They come to a placeof hopelessness. No happiness. No joy. They begin to wonder if life is evenworth living. So they take what they think is the ultimate way out—suicide. Myfriend, that is not the answer. The answer is finding this joy in Jesus Christ. Philippianshas often been called the epistle of joy. In fact, the words joy and rejoiceappear about sixteen times in these four short chapters. The entire letter isfilled with encouragement, gratitude, hope, and rejoicing. So over the nextseveral days, we're going to begin with an introduction to the book. Then wewill start a verse-by-verse study through this letter over the next severalmonths. I pray that you will join me on this journey. My prayer is that youwill discover that deep joy in Jesus Christ—the kind of joy that only God cangive—as you begin to practice the truths we will learn together from the bookof Philippians. I'm looking forward to this journey with you.

Romans 11:16-22 — Can Christians lose their salvation? There are few more contested and more important theological questions in Christianity. Many believers are plagued by doubts because they fear that they may fail to work out their own salvation and be eternally lost in hell. In this sermon on Romans 11:16–22 titled “Final Perseverance,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones offers solace to any fearful Christians. He says that the Bible never teaches that true believers can lose salvation. This is for the simple reason that it is God through His Son Jesus Christ who saves. Christians are not even saved by faith, first and foremost, but ultimately by Christ who grants them their faith. Jesus loves His people and He is both able and willing to guard them from ever falling away. What about those passages that speak of the need to persevere? The Holy Spirit uses many means to build up Christians in faith and joy and these passages that warn Christians not to fall away are one of these means that God uses to preserve those He loves. What about people who say they are Christians and stop believing? There are many who are self-deceived and think that they are saved, but their life shows that this is not a true work of God. Romans 11:18-22 — Now that Christ has come, what is the relationship between Jews and Gentiles? This is the question Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones seeks to answer in this sermon on Romans 11:18–22 titled “None Should Boast.” Christ Jesus has come and instituted the new covenant – the fulfilment of all of God's Old Testament covenants. In the new covenant, there is no longer a distinction between Jew and Gentile, for all are made one by believing in Christ and in His death, burial, and resurrection. Paul makes it clear that the Jews have not been rejected in total, but only those Jews who do not believe in Jesus Christ. Dr. Lloyd-Jones points out that it is a mistake to think that the Gentiles are part of the new covenant because of anything they have done. Paul goes on to make it perfectly clear that salvation is always by grace and grace alone. Nothing either Jews or Gentiles can do can ever make them part of the people of God. It is by the grace of God given in His Son Jesus Christ that anyone can know God and love Him. Gentiles have no ground for boasting because it is all the grace of God and not human works or merit. Taking up the helmet of salvation and putting it on means thatwe are having confidence that we are God's children. We are in His family. Yousee the helmet protects us from the biggest lie of the devil that we are notsafe in Jesus Christ. Listen carefully. One of Satan's most crippling attacksis to make believers feel insecure. Their insecurity produces paralysis. If aChristian thinks, "I might not be saved," then they stop movingforward. Whatwe're talking about is the assurance of our salvation. If we don't have theassurance of our salvation, we stop serving the Lord. We stop praying boldly.We stop living with joy in our lives. We become fearful, anxious and unstablein our walk with God. This is so important. This thing of assurance ofsalvation. Why do we lose our assurance of our salvation? Because the assuranceof our salvation is the joy we are experiencing when we know that we are savedand safe! In1 John chapter 1, John is talking about the eternal life that was manifest tohim. He wrote: “We have seen, we bear witness, we declare to you thateternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us”. Why? Johnsaw Jesus personally for three and a half years and walked and talked with Him.He goes on to write: "That which we have seen and heard, we declare toyou that you also may have fellowship with us. Truly, our fellowship is withthe Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write to you thatyour joy may be full."  Myfriend, what John is writing about in the book of First John is how we can haveassurance of our salvation. Here's the fact. Either we have been saved or we'venot been saved. That's why assurance of salvation deals with these two issues. Inthis epistle John gives three series of tests. The test of obedience, the testof love, and the test of truth. I really encourage you to read the Epistle ofFirst John if you're dealing with doubt and saying to yourself: "I'm notsure I'm saved. I wonder did I ever get saved? I prayed a prayer when I was achild, but now, I don't know that I've ever truly been born again. Yes, I gotbaptized, but I don't know that Jesus is my savior. I don't have that assuranceof salvation." Johngives three series of tests, as I said, and the tests have to do first with sonship.Are you really a son of the Father? You really in the family? Secondly, thereis the test of fellowship. You can be saved and lose fellowship with God. Thefollowing verses in 1 John 1:5-10 have to do with that. They basically say thatif we have fellowship with Him, we walk in the light as He is in the light. Ifwe sin, we can lose that fellowship. But if we confess our sin, He is faithfuland just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Then welove Him. We walk in His truth and we keep His commandments. We're obedient.  Thedevil doesn't want you to have the assurance of your salvation even when you'resaved. So that's why John writes in 1 John 5:11-13 “And this is thetestimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Hewho has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not havelife. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son ofGod, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue tobelieve in the name of the Son of God.” My friend, your eternal life is notin who you are and what you do and what you can do for God. Your eternal lifeis in Jesus Christ.  Jesustells us in John 10:28-29: “And I give them eternal life and they shallnever perish neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand”. Romans8:38-39 also assures us: “For I'm persuaded that neither death nor life norany other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of Godthat's in Christ Jesus our Lord”. My friend, this is the helmet, this isthe settled truth. I belong to Christ. I'm kept by Christ and I'll be broughthome by Christ today.
