We can know God exists. 2/1/25
On the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, reflects on a decisive moment in his own vocation and on the gift the Church receives through reason rightly ordered to faith. Saint Thomas shows us that clarity about God's will is not opposed to intellect but illuminated by it. As the Catechism teaches, “God can be known with certainty from created reality by the light of human reason” (“Catechism of the Catholic Church” 31).Father Chris explains several of St. Thomas Aquinas's classical proofs for the existence of God, especially the arguments from motion and efficient cause. Nothing moves or comes into being on its own. Because nothing causes itself, reason leads us to a First Mover and First Cause who depends on nothing else. As Scripture affirms, “Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes… have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made” (Rom 1:20; NABRE).Saint Thomas reminds us that faith is never blind. God invites us to love Him with our minds as well as our hearts, using logic, observation, and wonder at creation to recognize an intelligent Designer. Father Chris emphasizes that doubt can become a doorway to deeper trust when it is met with honest reasoning and grace, echoing Saint Faustina's call to trust in God's providence (“Diary of Saint Faustina,” 1578).Watch the full homily on Divine Mercy Plus, the free, ad-free Catholic streaming platform. ★ Support this podcast ★

La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB from Salesian Don Bosco Gerak in the Diocese of Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. 2 Samuel 6: 12b-15.17-19; Rs psalm 24: 7.8.9.10; Mark 3: 31-35.REJOICE, GODEXISTS! Our meditation today is entitled: Rejoice, God Exists!Believers believe that God exists. God also works to protect, nurture and savemankind. The evidence that God exists and is always working for us isundoubted, namely in the scriptures with all their narratives and explanations.Believers need to always read and meditate on the scriptures so that they canhave more faith that God exists and continues to work. Apart from reading and hearing God's words, there aremany other ways used by believers to acknowledge that God exists. One of themis to live in joy. Although we are not free from sins and sufferings of life, joy is always a strength that we desperately need. On this day we are taught tostrengthen our joy and grow in the spirit of joy and happiness. Why? Because joy in us often passes away quickly, flieswith the wind, lost in the seasons. When work and busyness pile up, joy islost. When we have illness and find difficulties, joy goes away. When competinghelplessly in the pursuit of sustenance, achievements, and propectful progress, joy seems difficult to present. When failure comes, joy disappears somewhere. David, when entering holy city with all the people, herejoiced in carrying the ark of God to be put in its proper place. The joyfulresponse of David and his people was certainly extraordinary. All the elements andsupports for the celebration were complete. Their joy was full. All rejoicedbecause God was with them. Jesus Christ assures us that He is with us. Heassures us that the words he is speaking enter into every one who hears them. And when it is implemented in one's life, joy grows healthy and develops withinhim. The Word is the person of God Himself, as says theevangelist John. He comes in and dwells in us, then embraces and unites us allas brothers and sisters in the one Lord Jesus Christ. Here lies the great joybecause we are all united as one people. When there is separation, division andclaim of one group to be better and more privileged than another, joy loses itsmeaning and value. The holy Eucharist must be the most importantexperience that always strengthens our joy as believers. We receive the Wordthrough the reading and reflection of the scriptures, then we come to the HolyCommunion where the Word becomes flesh for our meal; this is where joy comes tous. Our joy becomes complete. So if you want to fill yourself with the joy fromthe Lord, come to the Eucharist. There is no other way. Let us pray. In the name of the Father... O most loving Father, may we be blessed with the fullness of joy in the celebration of the Eucharistin Your Church. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit... Inthe name of the Father ...
Can science actually PROVE God exists? Dr. Antony Latham joins us to explore how the cosmos, consciousness, and the complexity of life all point to divine design—and why the Big Bang might be Christianity's best friend. In this episode of Remnant Radio, Joshua Lewis sits down with retired physician and author Dr. Antony Latham to tackle one of the most critical questions facing believers today: Does science contradict Christian faith, or does it actually confirm it? It's Witness Wednesday! Today, Todd ventures on campus at Georgia Tech to have conversations about Christ, truth, and the afterlife. He meets students Ryan and Dallas and encourages them to trust in the reality and truth of the gospel of Christ. Segment 1 • Todd uses Ryan's Chick-fil-A sandwich to argue for intelligent design. • Ryan, an agnostic-leaning student, wrestles with the idea of creation vs. the Big Bang. • Todd gently calls out Ryan's reluctance to accept a Creator, and the possible motive behind it. Segment 2 • Todd probes deeper into Ryan's conscience. • Ryan admits he'd be found guilty if judged by God, but still doubts the justice or existence of such a being. • Ryan doubts Todd's ability to know this truth, but affirms his logic. Segment 3 • Todd meets Dallas, a witty nuclear engineering student who might say he is spiritual but not religious. • Dallas admits to moral failings but assumes God will be “understanding.” • Todd points Dallas towards Christ taking his punishment for him. Segment 4 • Todd outlines the gospel — forgiveness through Jesus, not good works — but Dallas hesitates, hung up on religion and the name “Jesus.” • Dallas responds to the gospel with sarcasm and dismissal. • Todd encourages you: respond to the gospel in faith - don't dismiss it. ___ Thanks for listening! One of the biggest misbeliefs in Western Christianity is that God's ultimate goal is our happiness and prosperity. When we believe this, we start thinking God exists to serve us rather than us serving Him. We were created for Him, not the other way around (Colossians 1:16, Romans 11:36). True joy isn't found in chasing happiness but in living for Christ as Lord.
Before anything else existed—before questions, doubts, or disbelief—God was there, the beginning of everything and the reason behind it all.

Join us for an exciting and insightful discussion about Biochemist Dr. Sy Garte on his remarkable journey from militant atheism to devout Christianity. For years, Dr. Garte believed God could not possibly exist, a view he held from a family background spanning three generations of atheism. Yet, it was his deep dive into science, particularly biochemistry, that became a significant part of his path to faith.Contrary to the common assumption that biology points away from a creator – a view surprisingly prevalent among many biologists – Dr. Garte argues that the stunning design utterly saturated within life points to a Divine agent. He challenges the idea that evolution alone can explain the origin of biological complexity. While evolution can explain the diversity of life after the first cell (Luca) existed, it requires accurate self-replication, a property unique to life itself, leading to a circular problem when trying to explain origins.Dr. Garte delves into the wonders of biological systems, like the genetic code, which he argues functions as true abstract symbolic information, similar to a language, something natural processes don't produce. He highlights the unsolved mysteries surrounding the origins of essential systems like DNA replication, protein synthesis, and error correction – systems already present in the earliest life form we understand. Exploring concepts like teleology (purpose) in biology, Dr. Garte presents a compelling argument that the origin of life requires something beyond mere natural chemical reactions. This conversation offers a profound look at how the intricate workings of biology can be seen as powerful evidence for a Divine designer.

The age-old question: Is there a God? If so, how can we prove it? For many, including Lee Strobel—best-selling author and former atheist—this question lies at the core of their worldview. Lee was once firmly convinced that there was no God, believing that, without proof, faith was nothing more than a delusion. But everything changed when his wife became a Christian. Determined to find evidence to discover the truth, Strobel launched a journalistic investigation into the origins of Christianity and the credibility of Jesus. Little did he know, this search for truth would eventually turn his world upside down and transform his life. As we navigate the intersection of logic and faith, we can take heart knowing that God has given us the tools to seek the truth. He desires for us to know Him and love Him. Ultimately, faith in Jesus alone leads to righteousness (Romans 3:22). It's not only crucial to understand what you believe but also to consider those around you. How can you use the logic God has provided to engage in meaningful faith conversations with others who may see the world differently? _____ Learn more about our guest at: https://leestrobel.com/ To purchase the books mentioned in this video, visit: The Case for Christ: https://a.co/d/iV0JqjD Seeing the Supernatural: https://a.co/d/c9a27Tu *DISCLAIMER: East-West does not earn any commissions on affiliate links or transactions from book purchases; all commissions go directly to the author and/or publisher. PROVEN EVIDENCE THAT GOD EXISTS | PROPHET SHEPHERD BUSHIRI
A short and powerful meditation on the 'I' that you are, and how knowing It, is the deepest, most regenerative rest possible. When you know that only It is here, there's nothing left to think or worry about because whatever you're thinking or worrying about, isn't there... where it appears to be Love is. Bliss is. The Bliss that you're sitting in right now. The spacious and loving 'I' that you'll be walking through later. Feel This and be free. And here's a bonus activity from Wayne Dyer:"Think of the five words -- "I am that I am." In your mind, place a comma after the word "that." Let "that" represent for you what you would like to manifest, or become as a person. I can't stress this enough -- write down on paper precisely what that represents for you. Whatever constitutes your wish, write it down and in your mind, call it "that." For example, "that" could mean your perfect health or abundance or a specific job or a happy, loving partnership. Write it down and be specific. And as you close your eyes in meditation, let your inner mantra be "I am that." For example, "I am perfect health," "I am abundance," "I am in possession of the job I seek." You take it a step further and let 'that' be... THAT... the All that is being everything and nothing. And then let THAT become what It's destined to be. That's trust. Surrender.I Love you,Niknikki@curlynikki.comsupport the show!:▶▶https://www.patreon.com/goodmornings_______________________Today's Quotes: "Who am I ? Feel your reality in the stillness, in the quietness, where there is no mind, no thought, no words, who are you then? You just are. I Am. I Am. I Am not this. I Am not that. I Am. I Am that which has always been, I Am that which will always be, I Am That I Am. " -Robert Adams "I exist' is the only permanent self-evident experience of everyone. Nothing else is so self-evident as ‘I am'. (…) So to do self-enquiry and be that ‘I am' is the only thing to do. ‘I am' is reality. I am this or that is unreal. I am is truth, another name for Self." -Ramana Maharshi"Deep rest is bliss, and bliss is the understanding that only God exists. Join us today as we talk about the Natural Knowledge of God, the evidence of God we see in the world around us, and the Revealed Knowledge of God, what God tells us about himself in the Bible.
Scripture: Genesis 1:1 Key Takeaways: Psalm 33:6 Nehemiah 9:6 Revelation 4:11 + God Exists as the Eternal and Transcendent God Aseity Hebrews 11:6 + God Exists as the Good and Personal God “There is a philosophical fissure between fundamental impersonalism or fundamental personalism. First of all, there is the difficulty of deriving ethical values from a nonpersonal source. If the universe is most fundamentally matter, time, and chance, then it becomes very hard to argue that one combination of those three is necessarily and of itself better than another combination - for example, that life is better than death or kindness better than selfishness - in any way that gets deeper than a feeling or an unjustifiable decision… the impersonal cannot create obligation. From looking at the natural world, we can tell what is but not what should be. We can tell that hot is different from cold, drought from moisture, lightness from heaviness, and good from ill, but we cannot tell in any of those cases that one is better than the other in any way more profound than we happen to prefer it. Philosophers try very hard, sometimes very hard indeed, to derive something resembling commonly accepted human ethical principles from a radically impersonal universe, but such valiant and well-meaning attempts tend to be unconvincing or rely on the goodwill of the reader in granting contestable assumptions.” – Christopher Watkin, Thinking Through Creation. + God Exists as the Triune God John 1:1 John 1:18 John 17:5 John 17:24 1 Peter 1:18-20 “For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule.” – Aristotle, 384–322 BC “Plato thought that in order to be worth rearing, children must be “malleable, disposed to virtue and physically fit”. If they did not prove themselves worthy, parents would “properly dispose of [them] in secret, so that no one will know what has become of them.” Aristotle thought defective children should be exposed—that is, discarded at rubbish tips, abandoned on hillsides, thrown down wells or drowned in rivers. “As to exposing or rearing the children born, let there be a law that no deformed child shall be reared.… Around the world and down through history the vast majority of cultures have considered that we are all better off without the weak.” – Glenn Scrivener, The Air We Breathe
Patrick Madrid explains the idea of infinite regression: basically, the concept of an endless chain of causes, and how it points to the existence of God. The Train Analogy: Imagine you're sitting at a train crossing, waiting for the world's longest train to pass. Car after car zooms by. Each train car is being pulled by the one in front of it, but NONE of these cars are moving under their own power. What gives? Somewhere way up front, there HAS to be a locomotive: the unmoved mover... pulling the whole train. Without it, the entire line of train cars would be stuck. The same principle applies to the universe: you can’t have an endless line of “movers” (or causes) without something at the very beginning giving everything its first push. And that is God. Infinite regression (the idea of “it just goes back forever, no big deal”) is, as Patrick puts it, a logical impossibility. It’s like claiming the train just goes on forever without an engine. Nope. Not happening. The Paintbrush Analogy: This one’s for the art fans! Imagine a paintbrush painting a canvas. The brush creates beautiful strokes, but it’s only moving because someone: a painter... is guiding it. Now, what if the brush is part of a longer stick? Let’s say it’s a foot long… or 20 feet… or as long as a football field. What if the stick just keeps going forever without a painter? That’s absurd. The same goes for creation: if there’s no “painter” (God) behind the brush (creation), then the painting (the universe) can’t exist. God is the ultimate painter, the one who gives creation its existence and beauty. What About Infinite Regression? Patrick explains that atheists, like Richard Dawkins, often try to argue for some other explanation: like “dark matter” or even, hilariously, aliens seeding life on Earth. But here’s the problem: all of these “answers” just kick the can down the road. Where did the dark matter come from? Who created the aliens? It’s begging the question, a fancy philosophical term that means dodging the real issue by postponing it. If you keep asking “what caused THAT?” at some point, you must land on an uncaused cause: something (or someone) that exists without needing a cause. That’s God. Simple as that. The Five Ways to Prove God Exists: Patrick gives a shoutout to Aristotle and St. Thomas Aquinas, who developed five logical ways to explain God’s existence. They’re not “scientific proof” like you’d see in a lab, but they’re rock-solid philosophical arguments. These “Five Ways” look at things like cause and effect, motion, contingency, and design in the universe: all of which point to a necessary first cause: God. He recommends Peter Kreeft’s "Handbook of Catholic Apologetics" (co-authored with Fr. Ron Tacelli) as a go-to resource. If you want to strengthen your faith, it’s must-read. Final Thoughts: Whether it’s the train, the paintbrush, or Aquinas’ Five Ways, these are tools to help us understand why belief in God isn’t just reasonable: it’s the only explanation that makes sense. So, the next time someone says, “But what caused God?” just smile and remind them: God is the engine, not another train car.

And here's a bonus activity from Wayne Dyer: "Think of the five words -- "I am that I am." In your mind, place a comma after the word "that." Let "that" represent for you what you would like to manifest, or become as a person. Surrender. I am is truth, another name for Self." -Ramana Maharshi "Deep rest is bliss, and bliss is the understanding that only God exists. Knowing that only God exists is the deepest rest possible." -Ravi Shankar Support the show
