God has power to do all things and He expects us to play our own part.
God very strongly identifies the orphan/fatherless, widow and immigrant as being objects of His special attention. His identity is bound up with how much He cares for them. YHVH commands a structure in Israel's everyday society that provides for the poor in their midst. That provision includes various “flavors” of food. We are called to live like and look like our Father in our treatment of the orphan/fatherless, widow and immigrant. Mistreating the poor is equal to worshiping other gods in YHVH's view of Israel. Their failure to compassionately care for the poor is a chief reason for their exile. The purest way to follow/please God is to care for the poor.To investigate this most important of stories further, go here.
This week, we look at Jesus' parables of the mustard seed and the leaven in Luke 13:18–21. Though small and hidden, these simple images reveal the powerful truth about God's Kingdom — it starts small, grows steadily, and transforms everything it touches. Join Pastor Rob as we explore how God works through what seems insignificant, how God's Kingdom grows in quiet power, and how that same transforming work can take place in our lives today. If you have any questions about this podcast or would like to share a testimony or prayer request, we would love to hear from you. Faith opens the door for God's power to work. The more skillful we are in faith, the more God's power can manifest in our lives.
In this message from the Thankful Heart series, Will reminds us why Scripture is one of God's greatest gifts to His people. He shows how the Word of God gives life, guides our decisions, strengthens us in weakness, transforms our hearts, and endures when everything else fades.
A sermon by Kelly Brady from Romans 11:1-10
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is **the power of God** unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16) 1/ Ministers of the gospel and the power of God. - Not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God - Romans 1:16 - Approved as ministers of God, by the power of God - 2 Corinthians 6:7, 2 Corinthians 13:4 - Enabled to bear the afflictions of the gospel by the power of God - 2 Timothy 1:8. 2/ Their message and its effect upon the hearers. - The preaching of the cross is in the power of God - 1 Corinthians 1:18-24. - Their faith stands in the power of God - 1 Corinthians 2:5. 3/ The hope of God's people stands in the power of God. - They are kept by the power of God - 1 Peter 1:5. - Their hope of the resurrection is in the knowledge of the power of God - Matthew 22:29. **Sermon Summary:** The sermon centers on the transformative power of the Gospel, affirming that its proclamation is not a human endeavour but the sovereign work of God, as declared in Romans 1:16. It emphasizes that the Gospel is not merely a message of moral instruction but the divine power that converts sinners, raises the dead, and sustains believers through faith, drawing from Paul's writings to the Romans, Ephesians, and Corinthians. The preacher underscores that ministers are weak vessels, yet their authority and effectiveness come not from personal strength or eloquence, but from the Holy Spirit's power attending the Word, which is the instrument of spiritual rebirth and divine preservation through faith ensuring their resurrection at the last day.

I love personality tests. Learning about someone's unique blend of traits is often the most fascinating part. On the heels of learning about the hesed love of God - this umbrella term that encompasses His steadfast love, kindness, mercy, and loyalty - we'll look at God's undeniable power. What does it mean for us as His children that He wholly and completely embodies all of these traits? This sermon explores Jesus's high priestly prayer in John 17:11-16, focusing on Christ's intercession for His disciples and all future believers. The central theological truth presented is that genuine Christians are eternally kept, protected, and preserved by God's power rather than their own strength. Pastor Joe Fant addresses the common Christian struggle of wondering whether one has enough strength to finish the race of faith, providing assurance that perseverance is guaranteed through divine protection rather than human effort. The sermon emphasizes three areas of protection: from destruction (eternal judgment), from purposelessness (living with Christ's joy), and from the judgment that comes from being in a hostile world. Using the imagery of God holding believers rather than believers holding onto God, the message brings comfort to those experiencing doubt, suffering, or spiritual weariness by anchoring their security in God's sovereign keeping power. Key Points: Believers are kept and preserved by God's power, not by their own strength or ability to hold on to faith Jesus prayed specifically that His disciples would be kept in the Father's name, establishing a relationship of divine protection Christians are protected from three primary threats: destruction, purposelessness, and divine judgment The case of Judas demonstrates that true apostasy occurs only because someone was never genuinely saved, not because God's power was insufficient God's sovereignty means that all evil is "on God's leash" and can only extend as far as He permits Believers possess Christ's own joy, which comes from relationship with the Father rather than circumstances Christians remain "in the world" but are "not of the world," protected while living among spiritual darkness The forces of darkness must go through Christ before reaching believers, as they are hidden in God's hand Perseverance in faith is guaranteed for the genuinely saved because of divine protection, not human effort Scripture Reference: John 17:11-16 (primary passage) 1 John 3:19-20 (reassurance when hearts condemn) Philippians 1:6 (God completing His work) Luke 22:31-32 (Jesus praying for Peter) John 6:64-65 (Jesus knowing who would betray Him) Psalm 41:9 and Psalm 109 (prophecies fulfilled in Judas) Romans 14:17 (kingdom characterized by joy) Nehemiah 8:10 (joy of the Lord as strength) Psalm 16:11 (fullness of joy in God's presence) Romans 8:1 (no condemnation in Christ) 2 Kings 6 (Elisha and Gehazi seeing angelic protection)

October 22, 2025We reflected deeply on John chapter 8, focusing on Jesus' divine authority, His interaction with the woman caught in adultery, and His declaration as the light of the world. The discussion centered on how Jesus revealed His identity gradually and how the Pharisees' rejection reflected hardened hearts despite their knowledge of His divine origin. We explored the believer's authority in Christ, emphasizing that true authority flows from intimacy with the Word of God and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The call was clear—to study and hide the Word in our hearts so we can speak and act with divine guidance. The conversation turned to God's love and forgiveness, as we considered Jesus' response to sin—not condemnation, but grace. We reflected on daily experiences where God's presence and love are evident, from small interactions to moments of service, and how these reflect His character in us.The meeting also examined spiritual growth through the lens of humility, brokenness, and gratitude—recognizing that God fills empty vessels and works through weakness, not pride. We closed with encouragement to keep our focus on Christ's perspective, overcome pride through gratitude, and rest in the Spirit's continual guidance toward holiness and service.Themes:Jesus' divine authority and identity in John 8Grace over condemnation: the woman caught in adulteryThe believer's authority through Christ and the WordGod's patience, kindness, and daily presenceThe Holy Spirit's role in guidance and revelationSpiritual humility and brokenness as vessels for God's useOvercoming pride through gratitude and Christ-centered perspectiveThe call to gentle teaching and serviceReflection Question: In moments of failure or pride, do I respond like the Pharisees—defending myself—or like the woman—receiving grace and walking in the light of Christ's forgiveness?

If you have ever wondered why the hands of the priest are consecrated, and why they are subsequently empowered to do the work that God has planned for them, you need only to look to the Book of Exodus for a clue. But, it also has a direct connection to Jesus asking us to pray without growing weary.
