In today's message, “The Living and True God,” Pastor Jack Morris takes us to 1 Thessalonians 1:4–10, where the Apostle Paul describes how the Thessalonian believers turned from idols to serve the living and true God. Their faith became an example for others, not just because of what they believed, but because of how they lived. This message is a call to examine our own hearts—are we fully surrendered to the God who is alive, faithful, and at work in our lives today? Let's open our hearts to His truth and His power. May 29, 2025Today's Reading: Luke 24:44-53Daily Lectionary: Numbers 11:1-23, 31-35; Luke 17:1-19“And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.” (Luke 24:50-51)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Think about those hands. Hands that were knit together in the womb of St. Mary. Hands that pressed up against that womb as they grew. Hands that grasped His mother's finger as she cradled Him in her arms. Hands that held St. Joseph's fingers as He learned to walk. Hands that did chores around the house. Hands that reached out to touch the lepers, the blind, the deaf, and the mute. Hands that reached out to grab Peter as he sank into the water. Hands that stopped a funeral procession in its tracks, touching the coffin of a young man and then taking that young man and giving him back to His mother. Hands that blessed the little children.Hands that overturned the tables in the Temple. Hands that dipped a towel in the water and washed the feet of His disciples that would run away, or, even worse, deny Him that night. Hands that broke bread and said, “Take and eat.” Hands that raised the cup and said, “Take and drink.”Hands that were pierced with nails. Hands that went limp in death. Hands that were laid in a grave. Hands that were shown to the Disciples on Easter Evening and to Thomas the next week.Now, as Jesus ascends into heaven, those nail-scarred hands are raised and lifted in blessing. Those hands were taken into heaven and seated at the Right Hand of the Father. Those hands, hands of the One who is True God and True Man, have a place in heaven.Those same hands now come to you in blessing. They work through the hands of your pastor who baptized you, who forgives, who delivers the Body and Blood of Jesus to you each week, and who raises His hands in blessing and says, “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord makes His face shine upon you be gracious unto you, the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Crown Him the Lord of love. Behold His hands and side, Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified. 25-BBWC 05-25-2025AM - Series: The First Epistle of John - Title: The True God and Eternal Life - Scripture: I John 5:18-21
The epistles that Paul wrote to the Thessalonians are thought by many to be some of his earliest epistles. One thing that will be clear to us as we work our way through these letters is that they reveal Paul's theology, and also give us glimpses of the transformed lives of those who came to salvation in Jesus Christ during these early stages of the spreading of the gospel. Bear in mind that this epistle and the remarkable “gospel-centered lifestyle” of the Thessalonians was written to a church that was largely Gentile in nature; who had recently heard and come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ out of a life of pagan worship and idolatry.He talked to them about the doctrine of divine election. He talked to them about the necessity of walking in holiness in the Christian life. He mentions the hope of the imminent return of Jesus Christ in every chapter in 1 Thessalonians. In chapter 4, we learn that one of the reasons why Paul wrote this book was to comfort saints who had questions about where their loved ones who had died were. He told them to comfort one another with the fact that that they were with Jesus.Beloved, the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is a comforting hope in this insane world that we are living in. But what I'd like to leave you with this morning as a personal application “takeaway” can be wrapped up in 1 Thessalonians 1:9,10. It says, "For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come".Note beloved, in verse nine, that when these saints heard and believed the gospel, they turned to God from idols. That's repentance. They turned around. The Lord Jesus said, "repent, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). 59 times we find the word repent or repentance in the New Testament. Repentance is a vital part of the Christian life.Secondly, they began to serve the Living and True God. A truly repentant heart will devote itself to serving the Living God.Thirdly, they waited (like a waiter or waitress serving tables) for the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Like the good and faithful servant that Jesus taught us about in Matthew 24:42-47, these saints were serving the Lord in the anticipation of Jesus' soon return. These transformed lives were telling others about the gospel of the soon returning Lord Jesus Christ to such an extent that every place that Paul went to share the gospel, they had already heard about it from them!What would Paul write about our zeal for spreading the gospel? What would he say about the spiritual climate and culture of our church family at Koinonia?“Blessed Father, we ask You this morning in the Name of Jesus to stir us up by Your Holy Spirit, in order that we might as a church family be about the business of serving You in such a way that souls are saved, disciples are made, and You are glorified.” SELAH

The hymn we study this weekend was written by Timothy Dwight, a Reformed pastor and teacher at the time of the founding of our country. He was the grandson of revivalist, Jonathan Edwards, and a scholar by his own right. He was known by George Washington, and the President of Yale University. This is the only hymn that we have by Dwight in our hymnal, and sadly, some of the greater verses have been dropped out of other hymnals to make in more palatable to modern sensitivities (notably verses 3 and 6). It is found in the "Communion of Saints" section of our hymnal and is full of Biblical imagery for the church. The church, or the communion of saints, all believers, is referred to as "her" based on the picture of the church as the Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5). The hymn is a reminder that every Christian is a part of the whole of God's church. We are connected, not only to God, but also to one another. Because of this we join together in prayer and praise and encourage and support one another with our prayers as well as support. It is also through the visible church that the LORD imparts His gifts to His people through the "blest communion" and the Word by which God make rich promises to us of forgiveness and life, and in response we make promises to Him to be faithful to Him and in our use of His gifts. We dare not abuse His altar either by neglect or by aggression against Him or His people. The hymn points us to Jesus as our Redeemer, as True God, our Savior and the victory He has secured for us over our enemies. So we declare His word of Truth in confidence of His return on the Last Day and our joyful reunion with Him and all His people for eternity! Isaiah says “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8). As sure as we are that God's Word of Truth will last, we can also be certain that the church will finally inherit the eternal life Jesus came to win. Join us this weekend as join together with our fellow believers to rejoice in God's gift of the CHURCH, both the fellowship that we have with Him through His Word and Sacraments, and the fellowship that He had created between believers united in faith and confession. What great blessings are ours! May the LORD bless your hymns of praise and thanksgiving to the True God this weekend!

Elijah taught the people that you either belong to God or you don't. Elijah was about to reveal His God to all the prophets of Baal. God preforms a miracle in front of all the people and reveals His Glory as the One, True God.
Scripture: Matthew 17:1-9, Mark 9:2-9, Luke 9:28-36, Psalm 104:2, John 14:8-9 Pastor's teaching on Jesus' transfiguration on a mountain top with Jesus, Peter, James, John, Elijah, Moses and the Voice of God brings this series of God's Ten Words to a conclusion. It's a surprise ending, because how could Jesus' transfiguration be remarkably connected to God's Ten Commandments, while also having a tremendous application to what we have been studying these past weeks? When Jesus was transfigured his face glowed like the sun. The three disciples Jesus brought along are in awe and amazed. Psalm 104:2 says, “The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;” The disciples knew the psalms well, did this verse come to mind as they saw Jesus shining so bright? They are witnessing the true revelation of who Jesus is. True God and true man - God-man who has come to deliver us all. Then suddenly Moses and Elijah appear with them as a cloud (the presence of God) comes over the entire group and they hear the Voice of God, “This is My Son who I love. With Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him.” Jesus is revealed as the Son of the Living God. God in the flesh who has come to earth to deliver us all. Why do Moses and Elijah appear? 1. Both were devout followers of God 2. Both had unique ends to their lives on earth 3. Both went to Mt. Sinai 4. Both heard God speak at Mt. Sinai 5. But neither of them saw God's face. But today, at Jesus' transfiguration Moses, Elijah, John, Peter and James all saw the face of God as revealed in the face of Jesus, the Living God. John 14: 8-9 tells us, “Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'?” Jesus revealed Himself to them. He is the Living God, the Deliverer and He alone saves and He is our only Hope because apart from Him we have nothing. And then suddenly it is just Jesus and the 3 disciples. Jesus tells them not to tell anyone about what they have just witnessed until after His is risen from the dead.. (but they didn't understand what He was talking about or what He meant.) In summary, The Ten Commandments are brilliant, powerful and profound instructions from God, but they can't save us - they are like a curb, a mirror and a guide but they don't save us. In Jesus, the Messiah, are revealed grace and truth and He alone can save. He willingly went to the cross to bring us righteousness as He bore our sin on Himself.. A. W. Tozer says, “The only sin Jesus ever had was ours. The only righteousness we can ever have is His.” We are encouraged to follow the Ten Commandments, but that will never save us. There's only Jesus, the Living God, The Living Word of God, The Word that became flesh who can do that! Now What? Learn about God at https://www.awakeusnow.com EVERYTHING we offer is FREE. Moses, in the description which he gives of God, certainly appears to have intended a brief comprehension of all that it was possible for men to know concerning him—"The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity, and transgression, and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty;

We explore the truth that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man; he is one person with two natures, both Divine and human. Fr. Mike explains that we call Mary the Mother of God because, from the very moment of his conception, Jesus was fully God and fully human. Fr. Mike also goes over heresies in the history of the Church that have denied the humanity of Christ, rejected the divinity of Christ, or confused the fact that Jesus is the Son of God by nature. The Church has always responded by affirming that Jesus Christ is truly the Son of God who became a man and our brother without ceasing to be God and Lord. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 464-469. Epiphany is an often overlooked season of the church year. It is sandwiched between Christmas and Lent, two of the most familiar seasons of the church year. Epiphany concludes with the Transfiguration of Jesus, which we will be celebrating this weekend. This is fitting, first because the Transfiguration is a magnificent proof that Jesus is the Son of God, and second because we are told that following the Transfiguration, Jesus begins to “set His face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). In other words, Transfiguration Sunday is an appropriate “bridge” connecting Epiphany to the season of Lent. Little is known about the hymn “Oh, Wondrous Type! Oh, Vision Fair” other than it was originally composed in Latin and used in the Old Sarum Rite from Salisbury, England in 1495. It was translated from Latin into English by John Mason Neale, the prolific 19th-century translator of Greek and Latin hymns. Sadly, only four stanzas of this hymn are included in Worship Supplement 2000. We will include a fifth stanza (found in other hymnals) which is a fitting doxology to the reminder that Jesus is True God and the Savior of all people. This hymn reminds us that the glory which was revealed in Jesus on the mountain is a glory that those who believe in Him will also share when Jesus returns on the last day. Because of the work which Jesus came to accomplish for sinful mankind, we will, by God's grace, experience that glory when we see Him face to face in heaven. This truth causes us, God's people, to raise our voices in joyful strains of prayer and praise in worship. Thanks be to God! Join us as we study this hymn about the revelation of Jesus as true God, and the assurance of being partakers of that glory in heaven because of Jesus life and death as our substitute.
John 17:1-3Who is God? What is Man? What is the Ultimate Purpose of Life? These are the Big Questions and how you answer them is key to the joy of your soul, and the only way to have true joy and the hunger and thirst of our soul's satisfied is if we find our joy in knowing and worshiping the only true God through Jesus Christ.

He grew up in Barbados and moved to the United States of America as a young adult. Neville Goddard was perhaps the last century's most intellectually substantive and charismatic purveyor of the philosophy generally called New Thought. He wrote more than ten books under the solitary pen name Neville, and was a popular speaker on metaphysical themes from the late 1930s until his death in 1972.Possessed of a self-educated and uncommonly sharp intellect, Neville espoused a spiritual vision that was bold and total: Everything you see and experience, including other people, is the result of your own thoughts and emotional states. Each of us dreams into existence an infinitude of realities and outcomes. When you realize this, Neville taught, you will discover yourself to be a slumbering branch of the Creator clothed in human form, and at the helm of limitless possibilities.Neville's thought system influenced a wide range of spiritual thinkers and writers, from bestselling author Dr. Joseph Murphy to Rhonda Byrne and Wayne Dyer.He has inspired and continues to inspire millions of readers around the world.* * *SOCIALS:• Neville Goddard Newsletter• Neville Goddard Telegram• Neville Goddard Instagram• Neville Goddard Threads• Neville Goddard Twitter• Neville Goddard YouTube* * *Neville Goddard Lectures: “Coming to Know the Only True God” (1967) * * *ABOUT THE COURSEUnlock God Mode is a transformative 30-day course designed to accelerate your journey towards greater wealth, love, and success through a deeper understanding and manipulation of your reality. Christmas Eve: For unless He were true God, He could bring us no aid; and were He not true man, He could offer us no example. sermon from Matthew Shedden
1 John 5:20 is one of the handful of grammatically ambiguous passages in the New Testament that either calls Jesus "God" (theos) or distinguishes Jesus from God. This week's episode examines the passage as neutrally and fairly as possible to determine whether Jesus is called "the true God and eternal life." 1 John 5:20 will be set in the broader context of the entire book and the context of Johannine literature as a whole before deciding on the key theological matter. The divine; good and evil; Adam and Eve. Was the snake actually the True God attempting to wake us to the nature of our being? As I was on a run, some thoughts on the subject came forth. Everything I grew up being taught is seemingly making more sense from another perspective. It seems that God is unknowable in the current conditions we are in as humans. Only personal experiences and interactions with divine forces can get us closer to knowing truth and complete realization will be through death and elevation of consciousness.Truth is felt when near. Here I am continuing the search.
In an episode originally dropped in December 2023, Harry and Rafe discuss the appearance of the Virgin Mary to Juan Diego in 1531. A decade after the fall of the Aztec empire, Diego, a peasant convert in present-day Mexico, is visited four times by the appearance of the Virgin Mary, who tells him to ask the bishop to build a church on Tepeyac Hill in her honor. When pressed for evidence, Our Lady arranges non-native roses in Diego's tilma on the winter solstice and, upon presentation to the bishop, a miraculous image is imposed onto and into the very fabric of his cloak: an image of a woman, clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, carried by angel, and carrying a child.The image spans two cultures, the natives of central American and the Spanish Christians, in its iconography and presentation and speaks to both groups about the nature of the mother of the one True God.Diego's cloak still hangs in Mexico City today, four hundred and ninety-two years later, having survived all manners of mistreatment and harassment, a testament to the Christian faith of the Mexican people and Catholics around the globe. Our Lady of Guadalupe is essentially the American continents' first true superhero.*****As always, you can reach the Buf at bufnagle@bufnagle.com*****As you know, this is an independent podcast so your hosts also carry all the expenses of running this podcast. "You are the head of gold." That's an unusually positive dream interpretation! A prophet of the True God must tell the truth, no matter what. There always seem to be 4- or 500 "prophets" who will tell the ruler exactly what he wants to hear, and you don't want to be the lone dissonant voice in that choir. Daniel has no problem giving a negative message, but in chapter 2 of his book, God gives Nebuchadnezzar a dream that seems to be quite good news for the king. Join Camden Bucey and Ryan Noha as they welcome Dr. Daniel Ragusa, pastor of Messiah Reformed Fellowship in Manhattan, to discuss his new book, Fullness of Joy: A Biblical Theology of God With Us, published by Reformed Forum. In this engaging conversation, Dr. Ragusa dives into the biblical theme of Emmanuel, tracing the promise of “God with us” from Genesis to Revelation, showing how this theme unfolds through the covenantal storyline of Scripture and culminates in Jesus Christ. The book's ten chapters correspond to a video course now freely available through Reformed Academy, making it ideal for church groups, Bible studies, or personal devotion. Explore how Dr. Ragusa uses biblical theology to reveal the coherence of Scripture and God's redemptive plan for His people. From the Garden of Eden, through the patriarchs, tabernacle, and temple, to the final new creation, this episode unpacks how each stage of redemptive history points to Christ, inviting us to find true joy in fellowship with God. Perfect for believers wanting to deepen their understanding of Scripture's unity and its application to the Christian life, this conversation offers accessible yet profound insights that are as useful for laypeople as they are for church leaders.
