Hosts Emily and Jenn are best friends that spend each episode comparing notes and feelings on a pair of albums that they had previously exchanged. They converge on themes, stories, and music videos to completely devour every crevice of a record.
We talk summer tours, what we've been listening to lately and took a deep dive through Emily's "Best Songs of All Time" playlist...the only place to find KISS, Duran Duran, Hozier, and Billie Holiday together.
We're back! Another new era but this time we're changing things up a bit to talk about even more feelings and experiences with music. We've loved our deep dives into all the albums we've explored, but we're excited to move forward and have more organic conversations about the music we have been listening to, thinking about, and seeing live. Our hope is to create a space where there is no intimidation, where music can be shared, celebrated, and talked about without any arrogance. We kick season 4 off by talking about a band that we have both been deeply consumed by for a couple of years now. If you're unfamiliar with Sleep Token, now would be the time to listen in and check them out. We shared our thoughts on this ethereal masterpiece of a band, their 2023 Riot Fest set and their 2024 Radio City Music Hall performance. Join us and w o r s h i p.
Welcome back to Let's Talk Records season 3! We have missed talking about music. Lots of life changes set us back a bit but we are ready to dive head first into the pit with all of you as we discuss metal, pop punk, and our favorite songs of the summer. Enjoy! This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
We welcome Jenn's little brother Matt on the show to discuss one of his favorite albums "El Camino" by The Black Keys. If you didn't know that this was a breakup album, now is your chance to dive into the meaning behind an album that, at face value, is just full of southern rock inspired guitar riffs that make good soundtracks to car commercials. This album is so much more than that. From viral videos to smart marketing, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are a perfect duo that not only busted out this timeless record but also brought in a new generation of rock that the world didn't know it was missing. Matt brings us through what makes this album so great, Jenn gives us a crash course on contemporary artist Harmony Korine, and Emily shares her findings of deeper meanings that are hidden behind the gritty facade of resonators and catchy riffs. If you don't know who Jack Antonoff is...now is your chance. "Strange Desire" is Bleachers' first album and it hits you in the head (make sure you have your helmet) with heavy Bruce Springsteen vibes...but take Bruce and make him modern and mainstream, and we promise...you will like it. This album features Grimes and Yoko Ono, yet it still somehow works, and it all gets tied together with Jack's incredible knack for carrying you along a song regardless of its undertone of weirdness. We land on topics such as grief, Jenn's distaste for Lena Dunham, good marketing, and what you shouldn't give up for love. it's a good one. If you aren't still talking about "All Too Well" you should be. In all honesty, this episode was recorded right after the song was released but we still want to share our excitement with you all and hopefully persuade you, if you haven't already, to take a listen to one of the best songs ever written. We discuss Taylor's re-release of "All Too Well" and the incredible short film that went along side it. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

We try something new in this episode of Let's Talk Records where instead of comparing 2 albums we dive heavily into one and this one really deserved the attention. We talk about mantras, anxiety, Joshua Tree, Cayson Candles, and all things Aaron Gillespie. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
We call this one "the episode from hell", but only because it took so god damn long to edit it due to software issues that made Emily want to bang her head against a wall. But truly, when all was said and done this was such a fun one. In episode 5 we discuss "Past Lives" by Against The Current and "Heartthrob" by Tegan and Sara! Listen as we dive into loneliness, relationships, feminism in music, LGBTQ representation, and fun parallels drawn between almost all the artists we have talked about so far. There is lots of laugher in this one and we hope that you laugh along with us. Leave us a review on Apple Podcast to help grow our audience! Mouth sounds, drunk dancing, goth vibes, and searching for God are just a few topics of conversation in in our 5th episode (how crazy!?). Listen in as we chat about The Rocket Summer's "Sweet Shivers" and Sylvan Esso's "Free Love". It's a long one but a good one. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
We had on special guest and Christmas Queen, Ashley Sousa, who helped us discuss our three favorite Christmas songs. Emily gave us "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" by Judy Garland, Ashley brought us "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey and Jenn showed us "Little Drummer Boy" by The Almost. We dove into a different decade and looked at a time that was not so different than the 2020 holiday season, considered commercialized Christmas with an injection of meaning and heart, and contemplated an old Christian staple brought to exuberant life by an unlikely source. Episode Notes God, love, lust, politics, and depression. This was a deep one, but maybe one of the best conversations we've ever had. Join us as we talk about the disappointment of The New Year, neon lights, glove boxes, and daisies. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
Listen as we compare and contrast "Lovely Little Lonely" by The Maine and "Women in Music Part III" by HAIM. In this episode we talk about feminism, taking risks, how being young is weird, and getting lost in nostalgia.
Jenn and Emily take a deep dive into 2 albums to identify their similarities, differences, and everything in between! If you are a Taylor Swift or Neck Deep fan, come on in!
