Since 2012, Tom Doyle has been holding down the low end for UK alt-rock heavyweights Don Broco, helping to shape the band's groove-driven, genre-blurring sound into one of the most distinctive in modern British rock. With thunderous tone, razor-sharp precision, and an instinct for hooks that hit just as hard as the riffs, Doyle has become a crucial force behind the band's ever-evolving sonic identity. As Don Broco gear up to unleash their highly anticipated new album, Nightmare Tripping, this feels like the perfect moment to dive into the mind of the man anchoring the chaos. From his musical roots and influences to the gear and techniques that craft his signature sound, Doyle opens up about the journey so far and what lies ahead. This interview first appeared in Bass Musician Magazine in March 2026Go to jazzguitartoday.com and bassmusicianmagazine.com more interviews and lessons.

Both bands had momentum—and chose not to repeat it. Damiani dives into the themes behind Don Broco's most unpredictable release yet, including the politically charged "True Believers," while Saller explains why Atreyu leaned into their heaviest sound to date and how writing sessions in Tokyo and total isolation shaped the record. This conversation goes beyond surface-level promo. It gets into risk, identity, and why both bands decided to push forward instead of playing it safe. If you've followed either band for years, this is the kind of insight you don't usually get.

Today on your favorite daily comedy show, we learned two very important things:Moon Valjean now owns a bowling alley. The Internet is not okay.Yes, it's official — Moon is part-owner of Pin-Up Bowl in The Loop, and somehow he manifested it by yelling “WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!” for years. We break down how it happened, what changes are coming, why Pete Weber needs his own velvet lane, and how Rafe is absolutely going to live behind the pin machines like a raccoon with a wrench. But because this is The Rizzuto Show, we can't just celebrate something normal.Nope.We pivot into the Epstein files being searchable by name (which obviously led to everyone panic-Googling themselves), Pokémon Go having a PokéStop on Epstein Island (yes, really), and the horrifying realization that your smart home cameras are probably recording way more than you think. Nothing says “fun morning radio” like existential surveillance dread. In between all that, we debate whether Timothée Chalamet is too confident (spoiler: he's just French and talented), Nickelback potentially collabing with Don Broco, The Black Keys adjusting their tour expectations, and Don Henley refusing to listen to “Desperado” because even legends wake up at 3AM thinking, “I could've done that vocal better.”We also reveal our comfort TV shows (Seinfeld, The Office, Ancient Aliens, and apparently Game of Thrones for “relaxation”), revisit a VERY special episode of Mr. Belvedere that absolutely did not age gently, and nearly get FCC'd by an enthusiastic mashup of Wagon Wheel and Boyz-N-the-Hood.It's bowling. It's conspiracy spirals. It's corporate rock fan analysis. It's PJ Sparks turning 57.It's your favorite daily comedy show doing what it does best — turning local headlines, celebrity chaos, and accidental audio risks into 2+ hours of beautifully structured nonsense. If you came for polished professionalism… we have 73 bowling balls instead. And we'll see you at the Pete Weber lane.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

"What makes Her Leather Jacket so emo?"We caught up with Her Leather Jacket at When We Were Young Festival 2025 to talk about their incredible journey, from honing their sound to collaborating with legends of the scene. The band discusses how mentorship from Aaron Gillespie of Underoath completely opened the door for them to be more vulnerable in their lyrics and songwriting. This collaboration was crucial in developing their sound and led to their latest single, "Death Train".The band shares the story behind the track, which features an iconic appearance from Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens. It was actually Aaron Gillespie's idea to bring Kellin onto the song, and they were ecstatic when he loved it and agreed to be a part of it. Hearing the final mix with Kellin's unmistakable voice was an "unbelievable" moment for the band. Rob also discusses the new music they've been releasing, confirming that a brand new record is finished and set for an early 2026 release. HEAVY Music Interviews
Promises Kept: Australia Bound With ROB DAMIANI From DON BROCO

HEAVY Music Interviews

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 10, 2025 16:13

Interview by Kris PetersPromises are made and broken every day in the music industry, especially when it comes to comments made from stage in the heat of the moment and on the crest of emotion. Promises such as "we will be back REAL soon" are said so often that they mostly pass by unnoticed by fans, who have grown accustomed to living in the moment and not in the future where such remarks are directed. But when a band actually delivers on these promises - not once, but twice - then the shockwaves that resonate could cripple a small country.Which is why, when Don Broco promised on their last Australian tour that they would start their next World Tour in this country, most fans had forgotten the remark as soon as the next day. When they also promised to play Perth and Adelaide, both of which were excluded in the last tour itinerary, the collective sighs of 'yeah, sure' were barely muttered because, let's face it, such promises are made and broken by more than 50% of the bands who tour here. But not Don Broco. These guys are still old school. From the times when a promise meant something, so, true to their word, Don Broco are kicking off their next World Tour in Australia starting on September 4. AND Perth plus Adelaide are both part of the schedule. Who says you can't trust a muso? After spending a large amount of time on the road around the time they were out here last, Don Broco have been more focused on completing their fifth album of late, bunkering down and fine-tuning the next batch of songs to expand their impressive catalogue. But ever since their recent performance at Download 2025, the tour itches have returned, enticing Don Broco back to where they thrive best. The stage. With the tour only being announced earlier today, HEAVY caught up with vocalist Rob Damiani to find out more."We're heading back to Australia very soon indeed," he affirmed. "It's going to be the first tour back touring this new material. We've been working on a new album for the last year and a bit now, and it's very, very close to being finished. This will be the first time we actually get back on the road and play any of this new stuff. It's also the first time we've been on the road for a year and a half, so we're excited.""We've been lucky enough to come to Australia now once every album," he continued. "The times we had on the last record, and the shows we did, were just so good. And the energy out there is so insane. We didn't want to leave it a whole nother album, where you're maybe doing it towards the tail end. So even though I think that not all the record will be out, it will be a load of the new material - probably all of the singles - but not the full record. That's what we're here to do; that's when we feel most alive as a band, when we're performing to people and getting that connection."In the full interview, Rob talked more about the upcoming tour and what to expect, keeping his promises, how much planning and practice goes into a Don Broco live show, the new album and what to expect, what makes a gig even more memorable for him, their 2023 shows at The Royal Albert Hall with an orchestra and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

We had the pleasure of interviewing The Ongoing Concept over Zoom video! We The band — brothers Dawson Scholz [vocals, guitar], Kyle Scholz [vocals, keys, percussion], and Parker Scholz [drums] along with TJ Nichols [vocals, bass], and Andy Crateau [vocals, guitar] — have released their fourth album Again, out via Solid State Records. Not only is this the first taste of new music from the band since 2017 but it also marks the return of the original lineup."'Unwanted Again' was one of our favorites to write and record," states Dawson. "Being fans of bands like Cory Wong, Dirty Loops, Don Broco, and Vulfpeck, we found ourselves incorporating a lot of groovy elements to this album, and this song really showcases that. It was also fun to bounce vocals back between TJ and I. For longtime fans of our band, we added some subtle references to our song 'Unwanted'; not only in the song, but in the music video as well. Being our second single and coming after a heavy hitter like 'Prisoner Again,' I think this song showcases the variety we put into this album."The Ongoing Concept emerged with the now-seminal Saloon back in 2013. On its heels, fan favorite Handmade bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Christian Albums Chart in addition to cracking the Top 30 of the Top Independent Albums Chart. In its wake, Kyle, Parker, and TJ departed, leaving Dawson as the sole original member for Places in 2017. As The Ongoing Concept went dormant, the group's catalog continued to react with listeners as the likes of "Cover Girl" clocked over a million Spotify streams and counting. After a period of quiet, communication mended between Dawson and his brothers Kyle and Parker. Between careers, marriages, and kids, they kicked around the idea of playing together once more."We'd been playing music since we were six-years-old," notes Dawson."We lived and breathed the same band together. It's crazy, because I didn't know my brothers outside of music. Taking a break for a few years, we found who we were as normal people and embraced other interests. It was super healthy for all of us. One day, we were hanging out, and I said, 'You know I've been working on some little skeletons for songs,' and it made sense. The only reason we got back together was because we had our time apart."They self-produced Again and took their time. The Ongoing Concept integrated "lyrics and Easter Eggs" from previous albums into the record's framework, embodying the title quite literally. We want to hear from you!
