Interview by Kris PetersPromises are made and broken every day in the music industry, especially when it comes to comments made from stage in the heat of the moment and on the crest of emotion. Promises such as "we will be back REAL soon" are said so often that they mostly pass by unnoticed by fans, who have grown accustomed to living in the moment and not in the future where such remarks are directed.But when a band actually delivers on these promises - not once, but twice - then the shockwaves that resonate could cripple a small country.Which is why, when Don Broco promised on their last Australian tour that they would start their next World Tour in this country, most fans had forgotten the remark as soon as the next day. When they also promised to play Perth and Adelaide, both of which were excluded in the last tour itinerary, the collective sighs of 'yeah, sure' were barely muttered because, let's face it, such promises are made and broken by more than 50% of the bands who tour here.But not Don Broco. These guys are still old school. From the times when a promise meant something, so, true to their word, Don Broco are kicking off their next World Tour in Australia starting on September 4. AND Perth plus Adelaide are both part of the schedule. Who says you can't trust a muso?After spending a large amount of time on the road around the time they were out here last, Don Broco have been more focused on completing their fifth album of late, bunkering down and fine-tuning the next batch of songs to expand their impressive catalogue. But ever since their recent performance at Download 2025, the tour itches have returned, enticing Don Broco back to where they thrive best.The stage.With the tour only being announced earlier today, HEAVY caught up with vocalist Rob Damiani to find out more."We're heading back to Australia very soon indeed," he affirmed. "It's going to be the first tour back touring this new material. We've been working on a new album for the last year and a bit now, and it's very, very close to being finished. This will be the first time we actually get back on the road and play any of this new stuff. It's also the first time we've been on the road for a year and a half, so we're excited.""We've been lucky enough to come to Australia now once every album," he continued. "The times we had on the last record, and the shows we did, were just so good. And the energy out there is so insane. We didn't want to leave it a whole nother album, where you're maybe doing it towards the tail end. So even though I think that not all the record will be out, it will be a load of the new material - probably all of the singles - but not the full record. Based in London, Lyra are a infectious soul/rnb act pushing the envolope of their genre. Drawing inspiration from 90's rnb culture to modern day funk, soul and pop. The band take influence from artists including Lily Moore, Olivia Dean, Stevie Wonder, Don Broco, Polyphia, Tom Misch, Cory Wong and Amy Winehouse. Since forming in 2016 Lyra have performed in some of London's iconic venues such as The Bedford, The Spice of life, 229, The Camden Assembly, 93 Feet East and many more. Their songs have received numerous plays on BBC Introducing in addition to track of the week.

We had the pleasure of interviewing The Ongoing Concept over Zoom video!We The band — brothers Dawson Scholz [vocals, guitar], Kyle Scholz [vocals, keys, percussion], and Parker Scholz [drums] along with TJ Nichols [vocals, bass], and Andy Crateau [vocals, guitar] — have released their fourth album Again, out via Solid State Records.Not only is this the first taste of new music from the band since 2017 but it also marks the return of the original lineup."'Unwanted Again' was one of our favorites to write and record," states Dawson. "Being fans of bands like Cory Wong, Dirty Loops, Don Broco, and Vulfpeck, we found ourselves incorporating a lot of groovy elements to this album, and this song really showcases that. It was also fun to bounce vocals back between TJ and I. For longtime fans of our band, we added some subtle references to our song 'Unwanted'; not only in the song, but in the music video as well. Being our second single and coming after a heavy hitter like 'Prisoner Again,' I think this song showcases the variety we put into this album."The Ongoing Concept emerged with the now-seminal Saloon back in 2013. On its heels, fan favorite Handmade bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Christian Albums Chart in addition to cracking the Top 30 of the Top Independent Albums Chart. In its wake, Kyle, Parker, and TJ departed, leaving Dawson as the sole original member for Places in 2017. As The Ongoing Concept went dormant, the group's catalog continued to react with listeners as the likes of "Cover Girl" clocked over a million Spotify streams and counting. After a period of quiet, communication mended between Dawson and his brothers Kyle and Parker. Between careers, marriages, and kids, they kicked around the idea of playing together once more."We'd been playing music since we were six-years-old," notes Dawson."We lived and breathed the same band together. It's crazy, because I didn't know my brothers outside of music. Taking a break for a few years, we found who we were as normal people and embraced other interests. It was super healthy for all of us. One day, we were hanging out, and I said, 'You know I've been working on some little skeletons for songs,' and it made sense. The only reason we got back together was because we had our time apart."They self-produced Again and took their time. The Ongoing Concept integrated "lyrics and Easter Eggs" from previous albums into the record's framework, embodying the title quite literally.We want to hear from you!
