At the end of 2019, I was on top of the world cruising the Mediterranean on a 20-year anniversary trip, but my bliss turned into a hellish nightmare when my husband told me at the beginning of 2020 that he was leaving me. If that weren't enough, COVID 19 came along and forced us all into a lonely quarantine. I had a choice, do I play the victim and hide away with a bottle of vodka and fall into depression or do I choose to be victorious and use this pain to rise above. This is my story.

In this episode, I have life coach Lauren Rush on the show with me. She is very knowledgeable on several topics and one of those topics is marriage. She was a marriage educator for over 20 years for many couples and women. We discuss if marriages can really last in today's time. We go back in time a little and share about how marriages and family were back in the '50s and '60s compared to how things have changed today. Have our standards been set to perfection? And how realistic are our standards? • The “I” vs. “we” generation • How hard is it to commit these days? • Is love really a choice? • We all marry the wrong person but how do we grow in loving our partners as we grow & evolve in our own personal changes in life's journey. We also discuss how to take care of yourself because you’ve got to be complete within yourself to really give and nourish a relationship or marriage. You are in control of your own happiness, not your partner or spouse.
Sometimes “High School Sweethearts” turn out to be lifelong, loving relationships, but sometimes they don’t. Sadly many people are afraid to leave, even when the relationship is holding them back because that’s all that they know. My friend Tina Thornton shares her story of the heartbreak she went through with her High School Sweetheart and what it took to finally find herself and become the best version of herself today. I hope you’ll be inspired to hear her amazing story. You’ll hear her share: •Why she kept going back to her high school sweetheart, even though it was holding her back from real happiness. •Why she thought there’s no one else out there. •What she did to move forward in her life. •She’ll share some tips for women in similar situations and also how she was finally able to get back out into the dating world.
What happens when you’ve done all you can to keep a relationship alive and thriving and it’s just not enough? When is the right time to just let go? I’m sharing my thoughts on this and also sharing some books to read and tips on how to start getting back to yourself. Books I recommend - Untamed by Glennon Doyle Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz Love & Respect by Emerson Eggerichs
