While Andrew is out running 300 miles across Arizona as part of the Arizona Monster 300, we're giving the HappyCast mics a breather and bringing you a two-part rerun series featuring one of our favorite race recaps: Andrew's Cocodona 250. Yep, before he faced the Monster, he faced this beast—and we're revisiting it mile by mile.In Part 1, we follow Andrew through the brutal 37-mile opener, twisted ankles, blown-up quads, surprise water stops, and the kind of “fun” that makes you question all your life choices. It's raw, ridiculous, and somehow still inspirational—classic HappyCast chaos. We'll drop Part 2 next week, and then be back with a brand new episode featuring Andrew's full Arizona Monster recap. And hey—stick around through the end of this one: Stephanie jumps in with an update on Andrew's current race status and shares her “Can't Let It Go” of the week. I first shared this episode back in 2022, which was just after GDP fell in the first two quarters of the year post covid. Now, we've just had JP Morgan share that the chances of a recession have increased to 60% in the wake of Trump's tariffs. This is likely to bring about a lot of fear inducing content about what this all means for your business. So, I'm here to remind you, 2025 gets to be a great year for you in business, even if there is some economic turbulence. This episode is just as relevant now as it was when it was first released so, even if this is your second time listening, I know there will be so many great takeaways for you today.------I wanted to speak about what I'm seeing and what I believe to be the best approach to take in navigating an impending recession. In this episode, I'm sharing a series of recommendations and considerations to help you look at your business from every angle and solidify what it is you do, why you do it and also speak to the fear that can surround financial uncertainty. I share some questions to ask yourself about your ideal client, becoming crystal clear on your messaging and looking at why your product or service is essential to them. I also discuss how thought leadership becomes so important right now, as your clients will be seeking safety and security and looking to you for clarity on what to do during this time. Get your pen and paper out for this one as I'm sure you'll want to take some notes and start mapping out a plan or strategy to drive your business forward. I truly believe that your business can continue to thrive, even during times of financial uncertainty.Connect with Ellie: Be the first to know when doors open to the Swiftmind Scaled Mastermind (the ONLY chance to be coached by me in 2025): https://ellieswift.com/mastermind Website: https://www.ellieswift.com/Instagram: @elliehswiftFacebook Group: www.facebook.com/groups/shineonsocialellieswift/
"There's no magic bullet in marketing—just daily experimentation, measurement, and iteration." In this episode of Growth Talks, Michael Kaminsky, Co-founder of Recast, joins host Krystina Rubino to explore how marketers can rethink the way they measure success. Drawing from his early days at Harry's, Michael shares how managing a lean media budget sparked his deep dive into media mix modeling and experimentation. He offers insights on how marketers can adopt a product mindset—treating measurement as an iterative process, not a final answer. Learn how ongoing optimization, directional data, and adaptive systems can help brands stretch their budgets, make smarter decisions, and scale effectively across channels.

Send us a textGrief manifests differently for everyone, as Karen discovers when she reluctantly attends a support group for those who've lost spouses. There, she meets Bill Medford, a widower who's been navigating life without his wife for over a year. Their connection is immediate, but complicated by Karen's hesitancy to move forward just four months after Sid's death. The episode brilliantly explores how family dynamics shift during periods of loss. Diana, already shouldering more household responsibilities, reacts with hostility when Bill enters their lives. Her resistance isn't simple teenage rebellion but reveals deeper fears about her family's changing structure. The role reversal scenes where mother and daughter interrogate each other about their respective dates highlight how grief disrupts traditional family hierarchies.Meanwhile, Kenny and Ginger find themselves at odds over parenting philosophies for baby Molly. Their conflict represents classic debates between responding immediately to a baby's cries versus allowing self-soothing. When professional advice fails them, they reluctantly accept help from an unexpected source—Valene's mother, Lily Mae, whose folk wisdom about positioning the crib relative to the moon proves surprisingly effective. The episode features a standout performance from Julie Harris as Lily Mae, whose impromptu musical number at the neighborhood gathering mortifies Valene while revealing her long-game strategy to advance her musical aspirations through Kenny's industry connections. For longtime Dallas viewers, there's an additional meta-layer of enjoyment seeing David Ackroyd (the original Gary Ewing) return to the universe as a new character pursuing Karen."Mistaken Motives" ultimately reminds us that healing happens on individual timelines and that the assumptions we make about others' intentions often miss the mark. Whether you're processing loss, navigating new relationships, or just trying to get a baby to sleep through the night, sometimes the most unexpected solutions prove most effective.

Send us a textCouple of heavy topics the last few weeks, huh? Well, as promised, Saint and Jim keep things a little bit lighter this week by playing one of the internet's favorite games. And it's a two-parter: 1.) Keep one human actor, and recast the rest of the movie with Muppets, or...2.) Replace one human actor with a muppet, and keep the rest of the cast. One of the reasons the Muppets are so beloved is because there's one for every role. And not just in the Muppet-verse, but EVERY role. So if you've ever thought Kermit would make a great Superman, or Miss Piggy would make a fantastic Ellen Ripley, you're not alone. So join the boys as they fall down the rabbit hole of speculating on which Muppets (or entire casts of them) could reliably step in for John Wick, Captain Kirk, The Wizard of Oz, and countless others. With Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) making her last appearance in Salem and confirming her exit, Brady is left single and ready to mingle. EJ DiMera's (Dan Feuerriegel) shooting coinciding with Ava's departure doesn't seem promising, but it has certainly cleared the path for Brady's new romantic pursuits. Despite Kristen DiMera's (Stacy Haiduk) lingering presence, Brady is adamant about not rekindling their past relationship on the NBC Peacock soap opera. DOOL sees that as for Brady's other exes - Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) is now with his brother and unlikely to return, Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) has moved away, and Teresa Donovan (Emily O'Brien) has left town due to her mother's illness. However, a new leak suggests that a character from Brady's romantic past may be returning to Salem. While fans speculate about the possible recast of Abby Devereaux (AnnaLynne McCord), the more likely option seems to be Melanie Jonas (Molly Burnett), Brady's former love interest. Most new hires don't fail because they're unskilled. They fail because they're unsure—and no one showed them how to build confidence on the job. In the trades, technical ability is just the starting line. What determines long-term success is how leaders coach employees through the messy, uncertain moments of “firsts.” In this recast episode, Traci Austin reveals the four coaching styles she sees most often—and how each one shapes a new hire's experience. From setting clear expectations to coaching through first-time failures, this episode offers a blueprint for leaders who want to grow confident, capable teams that stay. Because in today's labor market, keeping good people isn't just about hiring well. It's about coaching well.

The Bangkok Podcast | Conversations on Life in Thailand's Buzzing Capital
A fabulous re-cast episode from season 3! Sooner or later, we all spend some time in the hospital, so Greg and Ed riff on their myriad experiences in Bangkok hospitals over the years. But before we get into that, we should note - due to Thailand's strict defamation laws, some of the places we talk about will remain nameless. But with that out of the way, we can say that Thailand in general has pretty good medical care, and it is standard advice for travelers in neighboring countries to get over the border into Thailand if they have any medical problems. But, as Ed notes, Thailand does not have very good legal protections against medical malpractice: if a doctor makes a mistake, don't expect significant financial compensation from the Thai justice system. Greg and Ed then trade anecdotes about their own experiences in the Thai medical system, each with some good and bad things to say. Ed's life has been literally saved by competent doctors; Greg passed himself off as a Jedi in lieu of a real religion; both have been saved a ton of grief by getting a second opinion. Your mileage may vary, but both Greg and Ed agree, as a pure value proposition (i.e. what you get for the money), Thailand, though far from perfect, is a pretty good deal. Listen in for some great advice on how to maximize your chances of getting a good experience at a Bangkok hospital.
We've arrived at our penultimate listener favorite from season 8. We called this one “Access: A love Story.” It was magical for Qudsiya to revisit the unforgettable day that she and her partner, also a Down to the Struts alum, Sean Collins, promised to love each other for the rest of their lives. They've been married for nearly two years now, and they've had their fair share of adventures since. But they continue to cherish those precious moments with the people they hold dearest in the world, because of the incredible work of access artist Cheryl Green and photographer extraordinaire, Jasmine Oliver, on their accessible wedding album. Qudsiya and Sean think of Cheryl and Jasmine every time they experience the symbiotic pleasure of image combined with voice. Also thanks to the audio talents of Ramya Amuthan with production and sound design support from the one and only Thomas Reid. Access truly is an act of love. Why? Or… y? What is y? Why, it's mx + b! It's the formula for a line, which is just a hop, a skip, and an error term away from the formula for a linear regression! On the one hand, it couldn't be simpler. On the other hand, it's a broad and deep topic. You've got your parameters, your feature engineering, your regularization, the risks of flawed assumptions and multicollinearity and overfitting, the distinction between inference and prediction... and that's just a warm-up! What variables would you expect to be significant in a model aimed at predicting how engaging an episode will be? Presumably, guest quality would top your list! It topped ours, which is why we asked past guest Chelsea Parlett-Pelleriti from Recast to return for an exploration of the topic! Our model crushed it. Nate Wilcox and Ryan Harkness continue their discussion of “Last Night A DJ Saved My Life - The History of the Disc Jockey” by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. In this episode, Nate and Ryan go way way back to the beginnings of the 20th Century and discuss the very first radio DJs -- including Sybil True the first female radio DJ who started in 1913 -- and the first club DJs including the now-infamous Jimmy Savile. From reducing stigma to training leaders and leveraging mentorship, Bruce offers practical, no-nonsense strategies to improve employee well-being, increase retention, and create a safer, more engaged workforce.
We're recasting this listener favorite from Season 6. Qudsiya loves this conversation with human rights lawyer and disability justice champion, Haben Girma—author of the acclaimed memoir, “Haben: The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law.” Haben and Qudsiya talked about the concept of empowered interdependence. This is the idea that we all deserve to have access to the tools to define our own lives, and the ability to lean on one another to access those tools. Empowered interdependence acknowledges that all of our lives are intertwined, and we are stronger when we solve problems together. It's a timely message, and, as always, Haben shares it with infinite wisdom.-- Subscribe to Qudsiya's Substack, Getting Down To It Support the team behind the podcast with a donationLet us know what you think with a comment or review onApple podcasts.
I'm re-sharing another one of my most popular episodes today and I know this is going to serve you no matter where you're at in business right now. We all have challenging seasons in business so this episode is all about how to navigate those times and still make decisions from a place of abundance when you're in the thick of it.Whether you've heard this one already or this is your first time, I believe this is really pertinent to anyone in business right now. Enjoy...It's launch season again! If you're like 99% of my clients, you're likely in the thick of a launch or a scale in some way right now. We tend to find that February to May is a busy season in business each year, and so I wanted to address something that every business owner should know more about: making abundant decisions when business isn't going so well. Every entrepreneur faces challenging seasons at some stage in business. There are failed launches, low sales and generally just difficult moments in their business journey. And while it's easy to sink down into the fear, I believe experiencing so-called failures is often the thing that propels you forward most in your business so you can course-correct to your biggest months, growth and biggest scale.Today, I share with you the step-by-step process I use to help navigate these situations and make decisions that support growth, abundance and long-term success. Sitting in the ShitGive yourself the space to sit in the negative feelings for a moment. It's okay to acknowledge and feel the disappointment, frustration or fear that comes with a challenging situation. Toxic positivity would tell us to override those emotions in our body, however that doesn't help us move forward. We need to embrace and process our feelings to make room for growth and abundance.Coming back to GratitudeOnce we've sat with our emotions, it's time to recalibrate back to the frequency of gratitude. Gratitude is the highest frequency we can be in when it comes to decision making and creating abundance. By shifting our focus to gratitude, we tap into our power and gain a fresh perspective that supports making decisions from a place of abundance.Recommit to Your GoalsIt's now time to re-anchor ourselves to our goals. Sometimes, a disappointing situation can make us doubt our capabilities or question the viability of our goals. But by staying focused on our goals and recommitting to them, we reaffirm that we're still in the game. We must remind ourselves of our power and take the necessary steps to show up for what we want to achieve.Taking Aligned ActionFinally, we need to take action based on our goals and the frequency we've recalibrated to, rather than being driven by the negative stories we tell ourselves. Making decisions rooted in scarcity or protection only hinders our growth and expansion. Instead, we need to trust ourselves, take risks and move forward despite the discomfort. I encourage you to bookmark this episode for the next time you're going through any kind of challenge and need something to come back to that feels grounding and stabilising. Remember, when times get tough, stay anchored to your vision and keep going despite the fear - I promise you'll come out the other side stronger and more capable of growing your business than ever!LINKSResources mentioned: FREE MasterclassDM me the word "Mastermind" on Instagram to find out about the Scalable Freedom MastermindThe FREE Mastermind Launch PlaybookConnect with Ellie: Website: https://www.ellieswift.com/Instagram: @elliehswiftFacebook Group: www.facebook.com/groups/shineonsocialellieswift/

Welcome back to our series highlighting listener favorites over the last nine seasons. We're on to your favorite from season 5. Qudsiya spoke to Jennifer Natalya Fink, author of the incredible bookAll Our Families: Disability Lineage and the Future of Kinship. The book opened up a fascinating conversation about how we think about disability within our own families, and how rethinking those family narratives might help us build a more inclusive and accessible world.Visit our website for transcripts.-- Subscribe to Qudsiya's Substack, Getting Down To It Support the team behind the podcast with a donationLet us know what you think with a comment or review onApple podcasts.
I'm heading off to Melbourne for a workshop this week so while I'm travelling, I wanted to share one of my most popular episodes from the archives. In this episode, I share my personal money story with a particular focus on how my money mindset evolved from scarcity to one of abundance and overflow.Whether we're conscious of it or not, we all have money stories that are shaped by our parents, our upbringing and our experiences in the world. If you feel like you are ready to upgrade the way you think about money, I hope this episode inspires you to believe that more is possible.—----------------Money mindset is a topic that has been coming up a lot in discussion with my clients lately so I wanted to share my personal money story with you today. Over the years I have learned so many valuable lessons and have uplevelled in ways that I never thought were possible. I can honestly say from this place of abundance and freedom, that I know this level of expansion is possible for you too. Scarcity and LackGrowing up, my parents were small business owners, and, as is the way with us all, their experiences shaped my earliest lessons about money. While I attribute a lot of entrepreneurial mindset to my dad in particular, I remember there being a lot of scarcity and stress around not having enough money. Shifting Mindsets and Chasing Income GoalsAs I grew older, my mindset around money gradually shifted. I set income goals for myself and worked my way up in corporate to reach my ultimate goal of $100k a year. But deep down, I didn't believe that an abundance of money was possible for someone like me.Discovering the World of CoachingOne of the biggest money mindset shifts I experienced was when I discovered the world of coaching. Seeing other women earn money by helping others create exceptional lives inspired me so much. For me, it wasn't about the money itself, but knowing that I could make a difference in people's lives got me hooked. Feeling unfulfilled in my corporate job, I moved into the coaching space with the initial goal to replace my six-figure corporate income. This is when I started educating myself about money management and investing, and Chay has also played a big role in challenging my mindset in this space. As my business grew and I earned more and more money, I had to shift my mindset to embrace abundance and learn how to hold that level of income. I've taken calculated risks but I also prioritise safety, aligning my financial decisions with the things that are most important to me. I really hope this episode is of value to you. I always appreciate it when other business owners talk openly about their money stories and hope that my story inspires and empowers you to upgrade your own money mindset. The Bangkok Podcast | Conversations on Life in Thailand's Buzzing Capital
We recount the fascinating story of George DuPont, the only Thai person who fought in the American Civil War. The first record of George in the U.S. is in 1859, but almost nothing is known of how or why he ended up in the United States. We know that in 1862 he volunteered for a New Jersey regiment to fight for the North in the American Civil War. Shockingly, he fought in and survived the battles of Antietam, Chancellorville, and Gettysburg, three of the bloodiest battles of the war. He was eventually naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1869. He subsequently returned to Thailand, or Siam as it was known, and worked a variety of jobs, from writer for an English language newspaper to a drillmaster to a timber dealer. He died at age 56, and you can still see his grave in the Bangkok Protestant Cemetery on Charoen Krung 72/5. George DuPont represents a fascinating glimpse into the lives of early Thai immigrants to America. Greg and Ed surmise that there must have been immigrants before him, equally or more interesting! One way or another, we'll find them and tell their stories on the Bangkok Podcast. :) Don't forget that Patrons get the ad-free version of the show as well as swag and other perks. And we'll keep our Facebook, Twitter, and LINE accounts active so you can send us comments, questions, or whatever you want to share.
