Today, I interview Catherine G. Lucas who opens up about losing her voice in the midst of a painful breakdown. In her late teens she was already standing on stage for public speaking competitions, but by the time her parents divorced during her university years, the weight of family wounds caught up with her. Instead of enjoying summer with friends, she found herself in an acute psychiatric ward, her world shattered and her voice silenced. Her breakthrough came much later, when she discovered that what had been called a breakdown could also be seen as an awakening. It took years of reframing and deep inner work to see her experience not as illness, but as a turning point with the potential for healing.Through mindfulness, patient advocacy, and writing her first book, In Case of Spiritual Emergency, Catherine began to speak from her whole self rather than hide in shame. Today she helps others step into their deeper calling, showing that finding your voice is not about perfection but about expressing the truth of who you are in a way that heals and uplifts.__________________Catherine G. Lucas is the author of four books on how to move successfully through crisis and harness the transformational power it holds. A former university professor, Catherine left her academic career behind to step into her soul's deeper calling, following a profound crisis of awakening. She went on to set up a UK charity and now helps people step into their deeper calling. Her media appearances include BBC Radio 4 and TimeWarner TV, and she regularly speaks internationally. More recently, Catherine has convened the highly acclaimed Birth the New Earth summit.__________________Find Catherine here:https://www.youtube.com/user/CatherineGLucashttps://www.catherine-g-lucas.com/https://www.co-creatingourfuture.world/https://www.co-creatingourfuture.world/free-gift-download/Support the showI'm Dr. Doreen Downing and I help people find their voice so they can speak without fear. “If you can dance on a stripper pole, you can do anything.” Topics Discussed: Why control and masculine energy block fertility Movement, strength training, and feminine power Nervous system healing for conception Reclaiming joy and cellular health in fertility “You can't heal your fertility while living like a robot.” Hello Beautiful, Monica here… Let's get real. If you're stuck in the infertility loop, white-knuckling every supplement, every meal plan, every fertility protocol—chances are you're living in overdrive. You've been taught control equals safety. But in reality? That hyper-masculine energy is hijacking your nervous system and shutting down your flow. This week, I sit down with Diane, who went from teen mom to pole dance studio owner to strength coach—and her story is pure proof that women can alchemize struggle into power. We talk about pole dancing as medicine (yes, seriously), how movement cracks open confidence, and why so many women trade joy for control without even realizing it. Spoiler: control is just an illusion, and your womb knows it. If you've been carrying resentment toward your body, obsessing over timelines, or looping in that same “why not me” story—this episode is your mirror. It's raw, it's cheeky, and it's a loving call to unclench, release, and remember: your fertility thrives on joy, not burnout. Press play. Your nervous system (and your future baby) will thank you. “Joy isn't a luxury. It's a fertility strategy.” Timestamps: 02:10 Diane shares her background story and life experiences, and how they have shaped her passion for empowering women. 12:00 The invisible mental load women carry and the importance of taking radical responsibility to change your life. 14:40 Understanding the hidden cost of operating from a place of masculine energy and how to stop. 18:00 She explains how she learned to show up for herself and stopped operating with masculine energy. 22:41 The importance of learning that the magic is in the journey, doing what you're supposed to without forcing things. 26:32 The power of choosing joy and flow as medicine for your fertility journey. “Your cells are listening to every emotion you feed them.” Full Transcript Over on the Blog: https://www.findingfertility.co/blog/the-surprising-fertility-strategy-you-haven-t-tried-joy-strength-emotional-healing-during-infertility-with-diane-flores-part-one Connect with Diane Flores: Health and Hot 7 Day Challenge-https://www.bossbitchradio.com/healthy-hot-challenge Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/dianeflores_ifbb_pro/ Podcast: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/podcast Let's Do This Together

Send us a textEver wonder why you keep falling into the same relationship patterns? Or why certain childhood memories still sting decades later? The truth might be uncomfortable: you're living out scripts handed down by your parents—scripts they inherited from their parents before them. This episode dives deep into the generational patterns that shape our lives without our permission or awareness. As your host Corey Berrier reveals his personal journey, you'll recognize how childhood experiences before age seven program your subconscious mind, creating protective masks that once saved you but now suffocate your authentic self. Whether you became the overachiever, the people-pleaser, or the tough guy, these adaptations create a fracture between who you truly are and who you believe you must be to survive. The wake-up call comes when you notice the maddening repetition in your life—different partners but same fights, different jobs but same problems. That's not coincidence; it's your inherited script running on autopilot. But here's the empowering truth: what you inherit isn't your destiny. By making the unconscious conscious, taking responsibility without blame, and establishing daily practices that anchor you through life's storms, you can break free from these patterns. The healing journey isn't about becoming someone new—it's about becoming who you were before the masks.Ready to put down the generational burdens you never asked to carry? Ready to hold the pen that rewrites your story? This episode offers both the compassionate understanding and practical wisdom to help you break the chain and finally live authentically. Your inherited past doesn't have to determine your future. In Ayurveda, digestion is never just about food, it's about how we process life itself. When our digestion is weak, the body feels heavy, the mind becomes clouded, and both physical toxins (ama) and mental toxins (mental ama) begin to accumulate. In this episode, Colette explores how poor digestion affects not only our physical health but also our emotional wellbeing, clarity, and self-confidence. You'll learn how the gut-mind connection works in Ayurveda, why unprocessed emotions weigh just as heavily as undigested food, and what practices help restore balance. We'll also look at how an Ayurvedic reset, including diet, awareness, and daily routine can help clear both physical and emotional heaviness, bringing you back to lightness, calm, and clarity. What you'll learn in this episode: How Ayurveda explains the gut-mind connection through the mano vaha srotas (the channel of the mind). The role of the subdoshas, Sadhaka Pitta, Prana Vayu, and Tarpaka Kapha in processing emotions and experiences. What mental ama is and how it impacts mood, memory, and self-confidence. The emotional imprint of poor digestion, why heaviness, irritability, or brain fog often follow sluggish digestion. How sattvic foods and routines promote clarity of mind while rajasic and tamasic influences create imbalance. Practical Ayurvedic guidelines for preventing the build-up of mental ama, from mindful eating and circadian rhythm to tuning inward and protecting your senses. In this radiant episode of Choosing Joy, host Deborah Joy Winans Williams sits down with the one and only Gabourey Sidibe—award-winning actress, director, and mother—to talk about choosing self-worth, navigating colorism, and embracing joy in a world that often tells you you’re not enough. From her unexpected journey into stardom with Precious to raising twins and reclaiming her own story, Gabby opens up with humor, honesty, and an unshakable spirit. She shares how her mother’s influence, her unconventional path into Hollywood, and her deeply grounded sense of self have kept her centered through fame, criticism, and cultural expectations. This conversation goes beyond celebrity—into what it means to love yourself loudly despite the noise. Expect laughter, real talk, a few tears, and a reminder that every person deserves good things. Whether you're an artist, a parent, or just someone trying to find peace in your own skin, this episode is for you. ✨ This is Choosing Joy at its most soulful and powerful.
