Are you thinking about or have you ever thought about returning to work for a public accounting firm? Years ago when I was in the process of making that decision, I couldn't find any content about the experiences of others who had done so. Ultimately, I made the decision to return to a public accounting firm. While I'm an advocate for therapy and unpacking the past issues are still affecting us today, it's also a good practice to look at the things that went right in our lives. Acknowledging both the good and bad can be a healthier way to tell the story of our lives. One of the good traits that I picked from my childhood home was the strength to endure. I watched the people around me go through difficult challenges and still hold their heads up high. It wasn't until I sat down and thought about it, that I realized how many good skills that I was directly or indirectly taught and still use today. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loveandkobo/support

I recently started listening to the audiobook, Think Like a Breadwinner. The author encourages women to learn how to sustain themselves. She uses her story as a cautionary tale to women to not put their heads in the sand when it comes to their finances. She said that as a child she was fed a narrative that she would be taken care of when she got married. It got me thinking about my own ideas about money that were formed in childhood. They were shaped by a totally different narrative. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loveandkobo/support

For a long time I considered myself to be a quiet storm. In my definition, that's a person who is full of potential, talent and great things, but who moves quietly/is low-key. A love list is a list of characteristics and qualities you are looking for in a potential mate. Before I met my husband, I wrote a love list and stored it away. While we were dating, I came across the list as I was searching for another document and realized that he had virtually all of the qualities on the list. While I don't believe that writing the list is what made me and him get together, I do believe that it's important to have an idea of what you want from a potential mate in a relationship. My list had 29 items. I share the remaining 14 items in this episode. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loveandkobo/support
