I saw this post and of course I've seen it before, but this time it's voice was a little louder when I came across it. This came from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64) - “The ‘ripple effect' means that #KindnessMatters ! A single act of kindness, like offering help to someone, can inspire that person to be kind to others, creating a chain of positive interactions. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!” This thought that all of us can tap into goes along with this post - “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” ~ Mother Teresa. In a world where action is needed to help others and make a difference with all of the injustices going on around us, we all can “cast a stone” of kindness, empathy, love, speaking up, reaching out to others to share thoughts and ideas, along with making sure we keep investing in ourselves to be our best selves. Just like the previous podcast - if we keep “our lamps lit”, it helps our journey and also the journeys of those around us. I found a very powerful reminder that got shared from Inspiration Wiz (@Inspirationwiz) where they help to get us to realize that “Your real competition isn't other people. It's - Your ego, your procrastination, your lack of discipline, your distractions, your bad habits, your self-doubt, the knowledge you neglect to learn, the unhealthy food you consume. Now go & declare war on your real competition.” Of course I am replacing “my” where it says “your” or “you”, because this was directed at me for sure, probably not “you”. As I read each one of these again - examples of “me” are flying through my mind on each of them. Probably the biggest one for me lately - DISTRACTIONS! Wow!! We all have them and I've been letting mine get a bit too much in the way lately. They have stolen my joy & peace in way too many moments. I found a post that had 4 statements of Japanese wisdom and it comes from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where these powerful reminders are shared for ALL OF US to connect with (including me for sure!) 1. If it's not yours, don't take it. 2. If it's not right, don't do it. 3. If it's not true, don't say it. 4. If you don't know it, shut up! Now I recognize that so much of the world, especially in the USA, seems to be going against these reminders. Our “leaders” seem to go out of their way to divide all of us, compared to trying to bring us together. My point with all of this is for us to not only shed the light on things like this for ourselves, but in doing so, our light will shine onto others. We can't let these truths be erased because there was nobody keeping the light turned on. Lot's to think about for sure. Thanks for listening. From Inspiration & More (@LifeWithJohn) “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” No matter what I have thrown at me, the environment around me (which has been incredible, thanks to my parents, grandparents, etc.), my choices do indeed matter. It's up to me as to where I go with my life. No matter what others say or do, I'm in charge and sometimes I forget that. So I love this reminder. I found a great post that reminded me the importance of being a consistent person, every day! This one comes from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) and it's titled “Consistency Wins: Because it's not what you do once in a while that matters. It's what you do every day.” I have been trying to work on this mindset for a long time and still haven't figured it all out. But, I'm open to keep trying for sure. I found a unique post from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where this quote from “Discipline” was shared with all of us: “Keep showing up, no matter how you feel.” It's a powerful reminder from a great source that we all need to be connected with in our lives, which is having discipline. There are many forms to this for all of us, but one of the main ingredients is this quote for sure and I really zeroed in on the keep showing up part! Hey, there are a lot of different quotes that I have shared over the years - I think we can all trust this one from Discipline him (or her) self. Keep working on it for how you connect to it. When I saw this post, it reminded me that courage can be quiet and not always a loud roar, but it also signaled to me that I can be (and need to be) more courageous in my life for sure. This came from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) where it was shared - “Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.'” Sometimes it's the most courageous thing we can do and it's probably something that nobody else will realize… but we will. I found a great short reminder about what we can do instead of seeking revenge on someone. This person puts out some great stuff, thanks Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) for this: “A wise man said: Don't seek revenge. The rotten fruits will fall by themselves.” Those people who are out there causing you problems - just remember, they are causing troubles for others and mainly themselves!! Don't waste your time trying to get back at them as we all have to remember, they live with themselves!! All the “crap” they are putting out in the world, all comes back to them. We can rest easy at night knowing we don't have to live with them and that we are investing in ourselves to be our best; while they are using all of their time putting out seeds of anger, negativity, hatred, lies, etc. Don't give them a second more of your energy!! This was eye-opening for me. When I came across this post from Motivational Quotes (@motivational) which shares a great idea as to what inner peace is all about. This reminded us that: “Inner Peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.” The first thing that came to my mind was the fact that I need to work on this a lot more and that every day brings us many times where we have to deal with other people and events that make it tough. But then as I was recording, I thought about that and I took the view that I'm getting plenty of opportunities to strengthen this “muscle” of choice - and that's how I'm going to get better! I can't complain about these people and events - they are going to be there no matter what! I can focus on using them as moments / lessons, where I can get better! That was a very powerful mindshift for me. Life is all about getting better, whenever & wherever we can. Thanks for listening. From a classic difference maker that has helped millions of people, this longtime golden advice comes from the great Jim Rohn and it's shared by Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) where Jim reminds us to “Go for the pain of discipline, it weighs ounces. The pain of regret weighs tons.” Every time I hear or read this quote, it hurts. I have let things go for a long time where regrets are starting to get bigger. I've known it for 25 years or so on things that I wanted to create, go after, build, try, etc. All I can do - all any of us can do, is to use today to do something about those things.
