Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! In our second episode of November the crew is here to chat all about what we've been playing and spending our time in. As you can see from the episode title though, we take a good deal of time in this episode discussing the notion that time is indeed a resource, and our scarcest one at that! With so many great games out, and coming out, just how exactly does anyone play all the things they want to play. With our normal jobs, friends, and family obligations all vying for this same resource of time, it gets tough to juggle. It's a good problem to have though and all of us here on the show take some time to reflect on that fact. Our Patreon submitted questions this week take us down memory lane a bit as we discuss what really got us in to trophy hunting, and what we both like and dislike about the hobby. This of course isn't a new topic for us here on the show but it's a good one to revisit once a year or so as thoughts on the hobby can morph and change over time. Additionally, we chat about what types of trophies make us feel the most satisfaction upon earning them in our hunts! As far as what we've been playing, Darryl has managed to make his way through the brutal 2D metroidvania game of Blasphemous and has great things to say about it. Josh and Colin continue their journey in Black Ops 6 with some updates on the mp and zombies while pausing to play a surprisingly good and addicting Pokémon TCGP. And lastly, Josh discusses a surprise hit in the politically driven narrative game of Road 96 (and it's prequel). Needless to say the boys have been very busy indeed. Thank you for listening, and we hope that you enjoy the episode!

Your 60-second money minute. Today's topic: Time Is Money
In the name of consumer protection, a slew of U.S. federal agencies are working to make it easier for Americans to click the unsubscribe button for unwanted memberships and recurring payment services. A broad new government initiative, dubbed “Time Is Money,” includes a rollout of new regulations and the promise of more for industries spanning from healthcare and fitness memberships to media subscriptions. “The administration is cracking down on all the ways that companies, through paperwork, hold times, and general aggravation waste people's money and waste people's time and really hold onto their money,” Neera Tanden, White House domestic policy adviser, told reporters in advance of the announcement. “Essentially in all of these practices, companies are delaying services to you or really trying to make it so difficult for you to cancel the service that they get to hold onto your money for longer and longer,” Tanden said. “These seemingly small inconveniences don't happen by accident—they have huge financial consequences.” Efforts being rolled out include a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) inquiry into whether to impose requirements on communications companies that would make it as easy to cancel a subscription or service as it was to sign up for one. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in March 2023 initiated a “click to cancel” rulemaking requiring companies to let customers end subscriptions as easily as they started them. The government already has launched several initiatives aimed at improving the consumer experience. In June, the Justice Department, referred by the FTC, filed a lawsuit against software maker Adobe and two of its executives, Maninder Sawhney and David Wadhwani, for allegedly pushing consumers toward the firm's “annual paid monthly” subscription without properly disclosing that canceling the plan in the first year could cost hundreds of dollars. Dana Rao, Adobe's general counsel, said in an emailed statement that Adobe disagrees with the lawsuit's characterization of its business and “we will refute the FTC's claims in court.” “The early termination fees equate to minimal impact to our revenue, accounting for less than half a percent of our total revenue globally, but is an important part of our ability to offer customers a choice in plans that balance cost and commitment,” Rao said. It's crucial to value our time as landscaping professionals, which is why charging for estimates and consultations is so important. Our expertise and insight are valuable commodities, and by charging for our time, we're not just compensating ourselves fairly, but also signalling to potential clients that we take our work seriously. It sets a precedent for respect and professionalism from the very beginning of our client relationships. Also, it can help filter out serious inquiries from those who may be less committed, allowing us to focus our efforts on clients who are genuinely interested in our services. Remember, time is our most precious resource, so it's essential to assign it the value it deserves. On this weeks show (our 300th!), Scott and Kati talk about the importance of NOT giving our time away for free. QUESTION —Do you charge for estimates? Let us know on our Facebook Page.
By now, we all know what I believe about time: it is your most valuable resource. And, in a lot of ways, the saying “time is money” is LITERALLY true. So when you save time, you save money… But you've got your hands full, and there aren't any balls you can drop. So how can you increase your profits by saving your time? The answer is automation—and the tool is Kajabi. I've raved about Kajabi before, and for good reason—it is THE ultimate software for building out your website and creating automations to free yourself up from tasks you really don't need to be doing manually. If you aren't familiar with the platform—or you looked into it, but found all the options overwhelming—today's episode is for you. My wonderful friend Katie Fleming is here to ask me about all things automation using the Kajabi platform, and I am so excited to share all the ways this software has made it possible for my business to function the way it does today. In this episode, James Nutter explores the concept of time versus money and how it relates to physicians' lives. He discusses the common belief that time is money and how physicians often equate more time worked with more money earned. However, he also highlights the negative consequences of this mindset, such as burnout and a lack of work-life balance. James encourages physicians to reflect on how they are spending their time and to consider whether they can delegate tasks that don't bring them joy or hire a capable team to help them complete their mission in life. He emphasizes the importance of valuing time as the most precious resource and using money to buy back time and create a more fulfilling life.
