Imagine your doctor has informed you that you only have hours to live. Your disease is in the final stages. Most likely you will not last through the night. What is most important to you during the last remaining hours you have on this earth? We all have questions about the afterlife but someone on their deathbed will be thinking about very different things from the person who is healthy and living a busy, full life. Spending cherished moments with loved ones, and putting our financial affairs in order are prominent thoughts for all however, these questions also take on a new urgency: Is there life after death? Is there a heaven and hell? Will I go to heaven? Will I go to hell? The arrogant, demanding questions diminish in these last moments. Facing death tends to humble most everyone. Ken Harrison was doing the going-to-church, reading-your-bible, being-kind-to-strangers, comfortable, going-through-the-motions Christian life. Until a jet sky accident put him on his back in an emergency room with the doctor saying, “Your liver is damaged beyond repair, you have five hours to live.” As he lay on that gurney he thought, “If I survive this and I’m ever facing just hours to live, I want to walk into Jesus’ presence knowing I poured out my life to bring Jesus’ love to my world. I never want to waste another moment.” It was the wake-up call Ken needed. Ken’s the CEO of Promise Keepers and author of the award-winning book, A Daring Faith in a Cowardly World: Live a Life Without Waste, Regret, or Anything Unfinished. He shares his riveting story and his hard-won lessons that point us to a life that’s bold, sacrificial, humble, risky. One that brings Jesus’ kingdom to earth as it is in heaven.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hello, my name is Allison and I grew up in the USA but now I live in Colombia. Wonder how that happened? Well it all started on my best friend Meg's 15th birthday, but before I get to that, let me tell you a quick story.Once when I was 5 years old, my mom invited some of her lady friends for brunch and one of them had a little girl about my age. They put us together to play and we got along just fine until the little brat took my favorite stuffed animal, Bunny. I grabbed Bunny and tried to yank it from her but she hugged it tight.“Give… it back! Now!”She shook her head and hugged Bunny tighter.“It's mine now!”I lost it and bit her little finger so hard I drew blood. She dropped the Bunny and called out for her mommy crying at the top of her lungs. Her mom was petrified and told my mom that she was raising an animal not a child. That was the last I ever saw them again.Since then, my parents and I moved from place to place because of their work. After saying goodbye to too many friends and crying every time we moved, I promised myself to never make any friends because what was the point? However, I broke that promise when we moved to California and I met Meg. She was pretty and popular and being in her circle was EVERYTHING. A few days after I started at the new school, she invited me to sit with her during lunch and I couldn't believe my luck! I heard that some girls had been waiting for months to be offered a place at Meg's table. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

You never let me do anything!” “Louise, you are too young to be going out to a club!” My Dad said.“All my friends are going, why can't I?”“Because I said so, that's why!”“You're ruining my life!”I ran out of the room slamming the door behind me. “It's not fair, I'm never allowed to go anywhere!”I ran up to my room and lay down on my bed, I was so angry with my Dad. When school finished the next day I asked my best friend Paula if I could go to her house for a while.“I had a big fight with my Dad last night and I just want to stay out of his way for a while.”“Sure, Louise, no problem. Actually it's a good time for you to come, my Mum is home.”“Really? Oh that's great, I can't believe we've been best friends for so long and I've never met your Mum!” Hosted on Acast. I listened to a survey where a fellow walked around and asked people this question: "What would you do if you only had 24 hours to live?" I thought about my answer, about spending time with family and reflecting on things that are most important, but I was shocked by the answers given. Family, friends, and faith never came up - most just living by no rules. Well...we are not promised tomorrow. It's not a theoretical question, our last day very well could be today. Are we living it the way we should? Are we doing the right things in holiness, love, and wisdom? Don't wait until it's too late, maybe we would all benifit by living with the reality that each day very well could be our last.
