No one wants to over-stay their welcome, but it seems that frequently pastors are a little too quick to want to move on to a different pasture. Check out my thoughts about this which I shared on the Leading From Alignment podcast. Check out the video version of this conversation. The New Testament stories I reference are found in Acts 8:4-8, 26-40; 16:6-10. When Elizabeth Makepeace fell for a younger, free-spirited musician, she thought she'd found the love foretold in a dream. But what began as a spiritual connection turned into a controlling, emotionally draining marriage that forced her to confront an old pattern she thought she'd outgrown: the compulsion to care for others at the cost of herself. In this deeply honest conversation, Elizabeth shares how she broke the cycle, rebuilt trust with her children, and finally found peace—not just in a partner, but within herself. If you've ever wondered why certain roles keep showing up in your relationships, this episode offers insight, healing, and hope.Guest Bio If you're curious about energy/magic then you need to meet Elizabeth Elenor. Her journey through her 40s was the progression of taking back her power as she left her narcissistic marriage and he started dating a 21 year old. A deep dive into personal power led her to discover the secrets of alchemy; she merged this knowledge with 25 years of being a healer to create The Ascendance Code and energetically align with her Higher Self Wisdom.Turning 40 and resigning as the family fixerElizabeth Makepeace was living a vibrant life in the tropics of Far North Queensland—raising her kids, running a successful healing practice, and feeling aligned in mind, body, and spirit. But when she met a charming, younger musician who swept her off her feet, her well-calibrated world began to shift. What started as a dream romance quickly turned into a rigid, emotionally complex marriage that echoed a painful pattern from her past: the need to care for and fix others, often at her own expense. In this candid and deeply personal episode, Elizabeth shares how a midlife unraveling—marked by loss, anxiety, and the crumbling of family trust—pushed her to finally recognize a generational caretaking pattern she'd been unconsciously replaying. Her story is one of heartbreak, healing, and ultimately, liberation. And yes—her real-life love story ends with a twist that feels straight out of a fairy tale (complete with a symbolic last name!).Episode HighlightsElizabeth's early life as a caretaker for her ill father shaped her subconscious belief that love means caregivingHow a “dream come true” romance slowly morphed into an emotionally taxing marriage marked by control and rigidityThe moment she realized she couldn't heal her partner—and the empowerment of walking awayRebuilding trust with her children and healing her own trauma through bodywork and reflectionThe emotional and spiritual reckoning that came with turning 40—and the clarity it broughtHer advice for listeners: examine the “movie” of your life and ask why certain characters keep showing up in the same rolesThe joyful discovery of a new, healthy relationship built on peace and mutual careElizabeth's story is a wonderful reminder that no matter how much personal work we've done, there are always deeper layers waiting to be revealed. Her midlife unraveling wasn't a failure—it was the doorway to true healing. By identifying the patterns that kept her stuck and tracing them back to their origins, she was able to finally break the cycle. And in doing so, she made peace—with her past, her pain, and eventually, with a man whose name poetically symbolized that transformation. If you enjoyed this episode, don't forget to rate, follow and review the podcast. Send us a textBuckle up, because Ones Ready is dropping a banger with Anthony “Donny” Donahue, a guy who's lived more lives than a cat with a death wish. From dodging jail time to crushing Navy SEAL BUD/S, serving as one of the only Arabic-speaking SEALs in Iraq, and then—because why not?—ditching his officer gig to become an Air Force Pararescueman, Donny's story is a middle finger to the ordinary. Now, he's gunning to be the U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, repping his fourth-generation Filipino roots and a military legacy that screams badassery. Aaron unpacks his journey with zero chill, from battlefield interrogations with Jocko to raw-dogging life without a phone in 2025 (yes, really). This episode is a Molotov cocktail of grit, sarcasm, and a call to rally the SOF community to get Donny's name in front of the right eyes. Key Takeaways: - Donny went from juvenile trouble to VMI to SEAL Team glory—proof the system can't tame a savage with a purpose. - Two years in Iraq as an Arabic-speaking SEAL? Yeah, he was the unicorn Jocko's platoon didn't know they needed. - Resigning his commission to go enlisted PJ was peak “screw your desk job” energy—respect the hustle. - No phone, just an iPad mini and Wi-Fi vibes—Donny's living like it's 1995, and we're low-key jealous. - Ambassador to the Philippines? His Filipino DNA and SOF street cred make him the guy to bridge nations, no cap.Call-to-Actions:Alright, you legends, it's time to move out! Smash that like button like it's a BUD/S surf torture session. Subscribe so you don't miss us roasting the next hero. Drop a comment—tell us why Donny's the man for the Philippines or how you'd survive without a phone (spoiler: you wouldn't). Leave a review to keep us dominating the charts, and join the Ones Ready membership for ad-free chaos. Oh, and hit the merch store. Share this episode to every PJ, SEAL, and beret-wearing patriot you know—let's get Donny to the embassy! Links in the bio, now move! The fear of absolute helplessness, Is frightening beyond belief, Resigning myself to the will of God, Is all I can do for relief. ☉Join me & Jessica in HAWAII for the Solstice! A few spots left! https://bit.ly/hawaii-2025Happy Equinox with a Saturn, North Node, Neptune, Sun, Venus, and Mercury stellium spanning the cusp of Pisces and Aries! A great big WOW setting the tone for the year ahead with both Mercury and Venus retrograde. As you can see at the end of the video, Mercury and Venus are in what is called an "inferior" conjunction to the Sun (in between the Earth and the Sun as opposed to being on the far side of the Sun). The closer they are, the more of a role they play in the unfolding of consciousness. The interpretation is that this is a time, and this will be a year of rebellious speech, some radical, self-centered ideas, filled with fiery passion. The intention is to individuate and break free from the mass media or conventional norms, values, and thinking for all of us, as individuals, to have the right to speak our truth, hold our own values, and express our unique (maybe crazy?) selves! The nice thing is the trine up to the Moon in fiery Sag to doubly emphasize the desire for freedom! The challenges will come in the arena of feelings and emotions with Mars sesquiquadrate the Moon and square Chiron. Mercury in Aries is definitely straightforward (or blunt), and, backed up with a passionate, emotional, and subjective Mars in Cancer there can be some "Get outa my yard!" kinda rhetoric going on as folks (governments) may get possessive over their territory. This week's report is more personal than social as I discuss the feeling of helplessness (overwhelm) and the remedy of resignation (surrender) to deal with it. We can be at that point this week and this year, where we have done all we can and are now simply dealing with the results of past thoughts and deeds, the will of others, and God (or whatever you call divine intelligence/Creator/Source). It can be a wild ride if our deepest desire and attachment is to the ultimate truth (and not much else LOL!). Neptune in the last degree of Aries combined with La Luna waning after that blood Moon Lunar Eclipse(!!!) points to this week as a time of accepting ourselves, our lives, our relationships, our communities, and our world as it is. Trying to control, manipulate, change, steer, or, in other ways, modify the situation to meet our own perceived needs could prove futile. This is a good week to "go with the flow," or simply exhaust yourself trying to fight it to no avail.Take the Long and Winding Road! https://youtu.be/yDP3dwpoVTo?si=P2fRKk8BqQHmjOopSo Much Love,Kaypacha☉

Editors at scientific journals are quitting in droves. According to Retraction Watch, a watchdog publication, there have been at least 20 mass resignations since 2023.So, what's going on? If you look closely, you'll notice a common pattern—publishers are cutting back on the number of editors, increasing the number of papers, and charging hefty fees for authors to publish their work. The most recent mass resignation happened at the Journal of Human Evolution at the end of 2024. Both co-editors in chief and the entire editorial board quit, except for one person. What does this mean for the future of scientific publishing? Have these resignations made the big publishers change their ways? Is the strict academic publishing system we know in danger? To answer those questions and more, Ira talks with Dr. Andrea Taylor, former co-editor in chief of the Journal of Human Evolution; and Ivan Oransky, co-founder of Retraction Watch and editor in chief of The Transmitter.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
