Guest - Jennifer McMurdy http://www.capitolinspections.com/ So why would we be born with this feeling of stress? Why does it create such a paralyzing feeling? I see it in my clients. They give up rather than pushing into stress. Stress causes such mental and physical side effects. Ulcers. Depression - Serious problems So how can I create a growth mindset around STRESS? Think about this….to me stress or pressure or interchangeable words: Water at 211 degrees is super hot right? and yet 212 degrees that same water boils and turns to steam. Think about it? Just one degree of this pressure changes water into an object that allows trains to move and machines to run. Why is it that we have a mindset that stress/pressure is bad? I wanted to dig in a find out what stress is? Fight or flight response: When we feel stress, our body is sending us a signal about how the pressures we experience affect us physically and mentally. Much like a caveman running from a woolly mammoth, stress triggers a “fight or flight” response. Boosts speed: We get a turbo boost of speed, strength, and senses that can be an incredible advantage in our everyday lives More Alert and Focus: Stress hormones that increase your alertness when it’s most needed Better your health?: You need a healthy immune system to help fight off infections and disease, and believe it or not, the right kind of stress can actually help your body’s defenses against illness. Less stress leads to complacency: Too little stress at the workplace can lead to complacency and affect how much you actually get done. When you take risks and choose to attack hurdles at work, it helps your mental toughness and self-confidence. And these are qualities that can increase your marketability and promotion opportunities. Manage the stress and you will get an advantage over colleagues who let stress overwhelm them. Stress creates new adventures: Think about some stressful situations that we consciously put ourselves in to make life more interesting and enjoyable. Challenges like asking someone out on a first date, facing and conquering a known fear, interacting with people you’ve never met, even learning something completely new. MINDSET MONDAY PODCAST QUOTE: Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something that we love is called passion.

Guest - Kendall Ickes - http://www.drpcollision.com/ You can write down your goals and create a plan but when you get knocked down your PASSION is the reason you get back up. Tony Robbins tells us. People accomplish tasks/goals in 2 ways: 1. Push requires willpower, it never lasts. --- OR --- 2. Pull is your why, it pulls you towards activities that aligns with your passion or vision What is your why? Why do you get you get up everyday. Life is not easy. If it was easy everyone would do it You will get tired but your why gives you the extra energy Who are you fighting for? What gets you up early. Purpose lights a fire in you. Do what is easy your life will be hard. Do what is hard your life will become easy. Clarity on what your gift can truly add value A larger vision of yourself Some questions that I used to find my why: What inspires me without any external motivator, including money? What do I love doing without a paycheck attached? What catches my attention that I can spend hours investing in? What’s something both significant in purpose and important to me personally that will last beyond my final breath? What would get me out of bed in the morning without an alarm clock? What would I invest as much time as possible in without expecting any applause or recognition? Can WHY BE MONEY? In my opinion no. If you are focusing on your NEED. So how much money you need to pay your monthly bills vs. Your WANT, or the WHY behind the money. That is where as a coach I see true progress. If you set a goal and hit it and then the reward is a trip to let’s say PARIS so you can take your wife to the Eiffel tower for your 20th anniversary. That memory, that trip, that accomplishment will PULL you to set the goals and then follow it up with action. I then want to pivot to another mindset around your why. What if you could help people using there on why? If you are in sales in any way. Retail, auto sales, in my main focus, real estate. We focus on finding the “why” behind the request. Let me expand with a technology company we have all heard of --- Apple, i PHONE Apple demonstrates the “why sales approach” at its best. They could demonstrated WHAT the technology or the phone did and HOW to use the phone. But instead they focus on the WHY. Take family photos, running with your i watch as you enjoy your run or workout with a friend. Simon Sinek - find your why, book & ted talk. Guest - Tracy Kerzanet https://www.thekerzanetgroup.com/ It got me thinking. As an adult why do we believe or not believe? For me believing in something or someone is important. Maybe it’s not about the big guy in the red suit. But believing has power and it does affect our mindset. We all have a need to believe. This may include: Beliefs on how the world works or how to make things happen in our business Belief in our religion or of God or the afterlife Belief in people that we respect like our parents and mentors Beliefs about people and if they are good or bad Believe about our character or that of others character The BIGGEST belief though is the belief in ourselves There was a time in my life where I realized that I stopped believing in myself. It was about 6 years ago. I had thrown in that proverbial towel in my mind. I came to realize over time was that I never actually stopped believing in myself. Buried somewhere, deep down inside, was a passion that I simply didn’t know how to tap into consciously. Although I had failed miserably, and many times over, I eventually recovered. Today, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wouldn’t want to go back and erase those failures, as hard as they were on me. I would do absolutely nothing differently. Through failure, life’s greatest lessons are learned. It’s through failure that we build a platform for great success. Believing in impossible beings such as Santa or God. Yet we are all born with Faith. No matter how old and how smart we become in the course of our lives BELIEF allows us to see the possible. I am not one to tell someone Santa is real or not. Just like I am not someone that can say Jesus is for real or not. But I also know BELIEF is a choice. Just like my daughter Emma - at 10 years old she whole hardly believed in Santa and just 3 years later she is choosing to question that belief. Eliminate words like CAN’T, NEVER, and IMPOSSIBLE. Practice doing the impossible on a daily basis. Surround yourself with “go-for-it” people. Talk to, read about, watch, and listen to people who have overcome obstacles to make it. Guest - David Wright https://richmond.herggroup.com/agents/154830-David-Wright/ https://share.personalcapital.com/x/6OCyEA Pain vs pleasure is something we learn about in sales yet when it comes to the topic of money it is the root of it 100% When I start to correct and work on things that are painful, I notice that I then get started in the right direction and then self sabotage ourselves. It is just me? I noticed I self sabotage myself when it comes to money In order to eliminate self money sabotage, I am learning that I must change how I look at money. Reprogram or recondition your brain around money Condition ourselves on what money is, our mind is like a muscle, just like other muscles I didn’t grow up wealthy. A quick story. I promise they will be quick My mom working at RCA factory made records ( I was an 80’s kid) and my dad worked in construction. I had a good childhood. It was not lavish or over the top. I would say on the lower end of middle class. I went to college and I had to work to pay for college so I decided to work for Macy’s. Kim said interview for Nordstrom - I thought. I can’t do that. I don’t have that kind of money. They would see right thru me. I got the job worked form then, got promoted and was one of the youngest managers in the company, at the time. Money mindset for me: More money may lead to more pain. What? People will think I am greedy. People may think I am more important than they are. Creates a divide among my friends or family. I just want to feel normal in my friends or family and blend in. Abundance of money is unknown, I am scared of the unknown. Shift in my money mindset: I am already wealthy. Free myself the illusion of that I am already wealthy - wealth is not just money. Leverage, someone else's back or effort. Like attracts like. It is ok to better myself and my family with more money. Already intelligent, so do not become smarter. I am a good husband but do I not work to be a better husband? So from about 18 yrs old till a few years ago, I honestly thought if I earned more money, my beliefs around money would change. I can tell you I was wrong. Working harder is not the answer. I have worked to make $11,000 in one year and I have also made $11,000 in one day. Again not to impress you. It's my perspective of my mindset around money. What do you associate with money? Positive words: Freedom, time with loved ones, less stress, security, peace of mind, less bills Negative words or phrases: What were you taught about money growing up? Money is the root of all evil, money is not everything. Money doesn't grow on trees, we can't afford it. It costs to much. PODCAST MINDSET MONDAY QUOTE: Money is only a tool. It will take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as the driver - AYN RAND
