Le salon mondial du Tourisme ouvre ses portes ce jeudi à Paris. C'est un secteur majeur de l'économie qui génère d'importantes retombées économiques et qui contribue à la création d'emplois. En France, a-t-il été porté par les Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024 ? Décryptage. Souvenez-vous. Paris et ses monuments dans pratiquement toutes les télés du monde entier pendant deux semaines d'affilée, pratiquement 24h/24. C'était l'été dernier et les organisateurs tout comme les responsables politiques l'affirmaient mordicus : ces images, il faut bien le dire, souvent spectaculaires, allaient faire venir les touristes dans la capitale et dans toute la France. À lire aussiInvité France: «Les Jeux olympiques n'apportent pas à court terme de modification économique»Neuf mois plus tard, on peut distinguer les effets de court terme et ceux de long terme. Sur le court terme, évidemment qu'il y a eu un effet JO. Même si Paris n'avait pas besoin des jeux en termes de fréquentation touristique, sur la fin juillet – début août, cette fréquentation a augmenté de 11 % par rapport à 2023. Sur le moyen et long terme, où nous nous situons, oui, on voit cet effet. Pendant les fêtes de fin d'années 2024, le nombre de touristes a augmenté de 30 % dans la capitale. Sur le premier trimestre 2025 qui s'achève, les arrivées aériennes internationales sont en hausse de 10 % par rapport à l'année dernière. Et encore une dernière statistique : sur le mois de janvier, le taux d'occupation des hôtels à Paris était en hausse de 7 points. Et + 4 points en février par rapport à l'an passé. Oui, les touristes sont plus nombreux ! Effet d'éviction Toutefois, il faut le préciser, la France est la première destination touristique au monde avec 100 millions de visiteurs étrangers accueillis l'an passé. Le tourisme tricolore ne s'est ainsi jamais aussi bien porté. D'après le ministère du Tourisme, cela a généré 71 milliards d'euros de recettes, ce qui n'est pas négligeable. Et la tendance devrait être similaire cette année, car les visiteurs venus pour les Jeux vont être remplacés « par les visiteurs classiques », qui visitent des musées, des monuments comme Notre Dame de Paris et qui vont par exemple à Disneyland. On appelle ça l'effet d'éviction. L'impact des JO, c'est qu'ils devraient être plus nombreux. La France compte surfer sur la vague De fait, l'attractivité de la France, grâce aux Jeux Olympiques, va être de plus en plus forte. C'est d'ailleurs un phénomène récurrent. On l'a vu en France après la Coupe du monde de football 1998 organisée à Paris. Mais aussi à Rio de Janeiro au Brésil après, coup sur coup, le mondial de foot de 2014 et les Jeux en 2016. L'intérêt des étrangers pour la ville et le pays en règle générale a été très important. Les touristes sont bien venus, mais ils l'ont fait après. Un, deux, trois ans après l'événement, voire plus. Et c'est bien sur ça que comptent Paris et le secteur touristique français : capitaliser sur les Jeux. Le maintien des anneaux olympiques aux pieds de la tour Eiffel et la remise en place dès cet été de la vasque qui faisait briller la flamme olympique en sont les preuves. Jusqu'au 9 mars, les visiteurs de la tour Eiffel les plus téméraires pourront traverser un pont suspendu entre deux de ses piliers, à 60 mètres de hauteur !

C'est une nouvelle construction qui émerge peu à peu dans le sud de Paris, porte de Versailles. La tour Triangle arrivera dans quelques jours à la moitié de sa taille finale. En 2026, quand elle sera terminée, elle culminera à 180 mètres de hauteur, un peu moins que la tour Montparnasse (210 mètres) et surtout la tour Eiffel (330 mètres). Mais elle changera le profil de la capitale. Au milieu des grues, des bruits de chantier et des nombreux passants, la tour Triangle atteint déjà plus de 60 mètres. Tout en haut, les ouvriers travaillent sur le béton des étages à venir. Plus bas, les premiers niveaux sont déjà intégralement recouverts de grands panneaux vitrés qui reflètent le ciel.« Ça n'est pas vraiment différent de ce qu'il y avait par rapport à avant, s'étonne Yueng, 23 ans, qui vit juste en face de la tour. Peut-être que ça va redynamiser, mais il n'y a pas besoin, je pense. Il y a déjà assez de mouvement. Il y a tout le temps des trucs au parc des Expos. » Livrée, la tour fera 180m, il s'agira de la troisième plus grande de Paris. Le dernier bâtiment comparable construit dans la capitale est la tour Montparnasse, c'était il y a plus de 50 ans. Pour les urbanistes, construire en hauteur reste une solution d'avenir. « Dans toutes les villes d'Europe, il y a un léger regain des tours, mais tout le temps avec l'idée d'utiliser des terrains qu'on ne pourrait pas construire autrement, explique Pietro Cremonini, architecte à Paris. Une préoccupation écologique fait qu'effectivement, on émet l'hypothèse qu'on ne peut plus étaler la ville, qu'il faut trouver les moyens de la densifier, mais aussi de la densifier là où les infrastructures sont déjà là. ​​​​​​» « Ce qui est choquant, c'est ce gros machin »Pourtant, la tour ne fait pas l'unanimité auprès des habitués du quartier. « Ce qui est choquant, c'est ce gros machin. Ce qui me gêne le plus, c'est la taille plutôt que l'architecture, critique Sophie, qui passe tous les jours par la porte de Versailles à vélo. Ça aurait été encore un truc de logement, mais il y a déjà trop de bureaux, etc. Donc, je ne suis pas sûre de comprendre. »La tour Triangle sera en grande partie composée de bureaux, mais elle comportera aussi des magasins et des hôtels. Il reste encore un an et demi de travaux, le projet a commencé après 10 ans de bataille juridique. Ce n'est pas forcément la tour que les riverains n'apprécient pas, mais son intégration dans le tissu urbain, c'est du moins ce que pense Pietro Cremonini : « Une tour qui s'implante au rez-de-chaussée, sur un trottoir et sur lequel on peut accéder en tramway, en métro, c'est-à-dire une tour qui n'entraîne pas forcément des gigantesques parkings à ses pieds, analyse l'architecte, c'est en fait que l'architecture moderne, puissante, haute, n'est pas incompatible avec une forme d'urbanité douce. »Si la tour Triangle ne convainc pas les Parisiens, les travaux avancent désormais de façon visible. Pour la mairie de Paris, le bâtiment est une promesse de dynamisme économique et d'offre touristique comparable à celle de grandes villes comme New York.
