This podcast is dedicated to sharing the preaching and teaching from New Horizons Christian Church of Winter Garden, Florida. In the coming weeks and months we may begin to offer more in audio content such as devotional thoughts, teaching, discussion, etc. New Horizons Christian Church is an indepe…
Frank continues his study of 1st Corinthians with this message entitled "Be Confident" Place your confidence in the Lord... not in yourself. Overconfidence is a sure way to fall into temptation. Living on the edge of overconfidence may lead you to fall into: 1) Idolatry 2) Sexual immorality 3) Trying God 4) Complaining
We've studied about and are familiar with the idea "die to oneself to win others to Christ" but are we aware just like in Paul's time - people are examining our lives to see if they match up with what we preach and teach. Are we really being the Christians we say we are? Fellow believers certainly watch as well. As a good indicator, do our wives, kids and grandkids see us reading the bible, teaching the bible, praying and actively participating in the family of God?
The message is entitled "To win them" - winning people to Christ. There are times to surrender our freedoms/rights, times of self denial and times of self control. Watch Clay King preach the next lesson in the Messy Church series about 1st Corinthians.
Clay's follow-up to the Band of Brothers on 4/23/25 The same power of the Resurrection is available to us as we strive to lead our families and live a Godly life in this world.
Frank continues the "Messy Church" series of 1st Corinthians - "Personal Freedom" SERMON 4/13/25
Clay's remarks about the Band of Brothers study 4/9/25 How do we stand up to persecution?
Frank continues his preaching and teaching through the book of 1st Corinthians - the big idea of this sermon is 'Every generation of Christians must expect harsh opposition... and find great value in it.
Application questions... 1) Do I know and understand my role at home and in the church? 2) If so what am I purposely doing to fulfill those roles? 3) If not what am I doing to know and understand my roles? Challenge... Do something purposeful every day this week to make your wife feel loved. Clay says - He's praying for you!
Frank continues his study of 1st Corinthians - here he tells of his big idea: The purpose of the Gospel is to change people not society... However, changed people can't help but change society.
Clay's follow up to the Band of Brothers 3 26 25 What does a Godly marriage look like? What is my part as the husband in making sure my marriage glorifies God? Challenge: Read Ephesians 5:25-33 Go through those verses with your wife and ask her how you can better show her a Christ-like love.
Frank continues his preaching and teaching through 1st Corinthians. This sermon deals with the marriage relationship - originated by God and distorted by the world. A Christian marriage puts the glory of God on display for all to see...and that is worth fighting for.
Clay reiterates Franks's message from Sunday but also takes time to get real with us - real about the temptations in our life. As men we are especially vulnerable to the sexual messages and graphic images in our society today. Never in history has porn been so readily available - and in a form that can be easily hidden (cell phones) However we may try and hide it and its effects on us, our marriage and children but that's a lie - Satan laughs as we slip more and more into addiction. The key is having God and other brothers in your life to confess to - brothers to pray with and to hold you accountable. Together we can make the positive strides we want to make. Find a brother to help you in your struggle and in turn you can help another as you begin to succeed.
Frank continues to preach and teach through 1st Corinthisans his sermon is entitled - "Sexual sin seeks to destroy you and those you love."
Based on Frank's message Sunday - Clay expands the conversation about the topic - 1st Corinthians - "You are not who you used to be" - don't let the enemy sway your thinking - "Don't live that way". Ask your family if they believe you are living like Jesus at home, ask your kids... What's your example really like - prepare for some honest answers. Take advantage of God's power living within you to make the changes you want to make - you ARE different - you are not who you used to be - so be victorious and live that way.
Frank continues his preaching series on 1st Corinthians - Messy Church. Today's sermon is called "Not what you used to be"
Questions to really think about and answer: Are you in the Word daily...really spending quality time? Are you running on your own power? How's your prayer life...how deep is your relationship with God? How accountable are you to someone in your life? Can you call them for help? Do you? Is there a temptation that you're NOT fighting? Have you become comfortable with it?
Clay's follow-up to BoB 2/26/25 about God's discipline in our life and our response.
Frank continues his preaching and teaching through 1st Corinthians this Sunday message is entitled 'Guardrails".
The world doesn't care so much about what you claim to be all about - it cares more what life you're actually living. Go to your wife and kids and ask them humbly how you can be a more godly man.
Frank continues his study of 1st Corinthians with "Tough Questions". Answers we need to consider concerning how the world views us as followers of Christ...
Clay talks about how hard it is to realize and believe that we are God's masterpiece. He challenges us - when God speaks do we truly believe Him? He's been working on you since the womb molding you into an image of His Son Jesus Christ. Are you going to be the clay that talks back to the potter?
Frank continues teaching through 1st Corinthians about Messy Churches. Today's focus is His Character Our Character...
Clay shares about the discussions that occurred last night 2/5/25 at Band of Brothers as the guys got real about past influences in their life both good and bad.
Frank continues his preaching and teaching through 1st Corinthians with today's message - Firm Foundation
Clay's message in reflection of the Band of Brothers message and discussion. Clay takes us through a parallel examination to Frank's - for us to consider the following questions: How do I live in obedience to God? How do I live in harmony with God? How do I get Godly wisdom?
"Messy Church" Frank's preaching series through 1st Corinthians, today's message is "Better than Gold". Frank teaches about worldly wisdom versus Godly wisdom. Godly wisdom is better than gold and cannot be revealed by the human mind, only by God.
Unity is a big issue with God - He hates divisiveness and wants us to strive for unity, especially with other believers. Clay brings the topic home - literally - he believes that a divisive person comes from and encourages a divisive home life.
Frank continues teaching and preaching through the book of 1st Corinthians. Today the topic is unity, unity among Christians - unity among the church. How can we possibly achieve this? By the name of Jesus... Keep unity!
Sunday as Frank continued to preach through the book of 1 Corinthians, we learned much about God's grace. It's not a one-time occurrence to be affected by God's grace, but a lifelong journey.
Follow up to the discussion on 1/8/25 at Band of Brothers
God often uses tiny, seemingly insignificant things to show us deep truths about Himself and His ways. Throughout the Bible, we see God teach us spiritual lessons through ordinary things in our everyday lives, like a mustard seed, a sparrow, or a child. These small things aren't just random or simple; they're like windows into bigger realities, inviting us to look beyond the surface and see the amazing wisdom of God. For example, Jesus used a tiny mustard seed to show us how even the smallest faith can have a huge impact. The seed might look tiny, but when it grows, it becomes a tree that provides shelter for birds (Matthew 13:31-32). In this way, God teaches us that even the most humble beginnings can lead to amazing results when we trust Him. ---------- These lessons from small things remind us not to overlook the little moments and unnoticed details of life. God is not only there in big, exciting events or dramatic encounters, but also in the quiet, subtle ways He speaks to us through the ordinary. Whether it's the persistence of a tiny ant, the faithfulness of the rain, or even a tiny baby born into a seemingly insignificant town like Bethlehem, God shows us His character and invites us to learn from the simplest of things. By doing so, He reminds us that His kingdom works in ways that often surprise us, turning the small and weak into powerful forces for change. In this sense, the “small things” aren't just minor details; they're the ways God shapes our hearts and calls us to a deeper understanding of His greatness.
We live in a world that wants to beat men up… We want to build men up to bless women and children. ----- 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. ----- RULE TO LIVE BY: Remember that before she was your wife, fiancée', and/or girlfriend, she was and is His daughter—joint heir in the Kingdom of God.
Both Mary and Joseph are confronted with life-altering decisions that forced them to relinquish control and step into the unknown, and yet they demonstrate unwavering faith in God's plan for their lives. This can deeply resonate with us, as we often find ourselves at crossroads where the right decision may not always align with our personal desires or comfort. ————— For Mary, the angel's message is a reminder that God's call often comes with both awe and fear. It requires us to step into the unknown, just as Mary did, even when the path ahead seems unclear and full of challenges. Mary's response, “Let it be to me according to your word,” exemplifies the kind of surrender and trust we are called to embody. ---------- Joseph's decision to take Mary as his wife, despite the potential social and personal consequences, also teaches us about obedience and trust in God's timing. When life presents difficult or confusing situations, we might be tempted to retreat into what feels safe or logical, just as Joseph initially considered divorcing Mary quietly. However, his willingness to act on God's revelation, without hesitation, shows us the importance of responding to God's guidance, even when it challenges our assumptions or comfort.

Isaiah 11:1, There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. ————— God brings life and hope from the most unexpected places, drawing on biblical examples that highlight God's ability to work through seemingly impossible or broken circumstances. In Isaiah 11:1, the prophecy of a "shoot from the stump of Jesse" foretells a new life emerging from a seemingly dead and broken lineage. ————— The God of hope fills believers with joy and peace through the Holy Spirit and He assists them in helping to identify actions they can take to lead to contnuing and sharing hope with others. God then provides them an opportunity to celebrate the miraculous ways God works, even in the most surprising of circumstances.

God's grace is for everyone who believes, even those who were once thought of as outcasts or unworthy by humans. This grace isn't something we earn; it's a gift given freely. Through faith, we become part of God's family, just like a wild branch is grafted into a cultivated tree. It's all thanks to God's mercy and love, not because of anything we've done. ————— So, let's approach God's grace with humility. We all need His mercy, and there's no room for arrogance or thinking we're better than others. Our salvation is a gift, not something we earned through our own efforts. Instead of judging others, let's show them the same grace and compassion we want to receive. Let's live in gratitude and unity, reflecting God's love in everything we do.
God's wisdom is a precious treasure that brings blessing and guidance. It's found in Scripture, in creation, and in everyday life. Through the Bible, God reveals timeless truth that shapes our decisions and perspectives. Creation also reflects His wisdom, showing us His order and design. And in daily life, God speaks through the Holy Spirit, guiding us through the various challenges and opportunities we face. ————— However, we face constant distractions from competing voices—cultural pressures, selfish desires, and false ideologies—that lead us away from God's wisdom. To live wisely, we must intentionally choose to fill our minds and hearts with God's truth. By prioritizing Scripture, reflecting on creation, and listening for God's guidance in the everyday, we align ourselves with His wisdom, leading to peace, purpose, and blessing. ---------- If you would like to follow along with our Live Worship featuring sermon notes and other helpful links, it is available through the Bible.com App. You can use this link:http://bible.com/events/49350258 or to download an outline of the sermon to follow along, click on this link: https://bit.ly/at-crossroads ---------- Afterward, please feel free to follow up with questions, feedback, etc. in the comment section. Proverbs 7:6-9, For at the window of my house I have looked out through my lattice, and I have seen among the simple, I have perceived among the youths, a young man lacking sense, passing along the street near her corner, taking the road to her house in the twilight, in the evening, at the time of night and darkness. ---------- To stay safe, Christians need to be careful about the situations they put themselves. They must think about what might happen if the wrong choices are made. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time can expose someone to bad influences or temptations that can lead down a dangerous path. Whether it's spending a lot of time with negative people, doing risky things, or being in places that encourage bad decisions, surroundings have a big impact on the choices people make. ---------- Another important thing to know is how temptations work. Our temptations are often disguised to get us to do things we shouldn't. They might flatter us, promise us instant happiness, or play on our weaknesses. The allure of temptation can be strong, but it's important to be aware of these tactics and stay true to our faith and commitment to Christ. If we know what temptations look like, we can recognize when we're being manipulated and resist the urge to give in. ---------- In the end, the best way to live a spiritually healthy and holy life is to avoid temptation altogether and seek wisdom from His Word. the Bible is like a compass that that points in a Godly direction and helps us to make good choices and stay on the right path and avoid destruction. It calls us to carefully study the Word and apply those truths to our lives and learn from the mistakes we have made or will make in the future. By being wise, we can navigate life with purpose and avoid the traps that lead to destruction.

Proverbs 6:16-19, There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. ————— Hatred is an emotion many of us are taught at a young age to avoid. We were taught not to express hatred for anyone. As Christians, we are taught not only not to express such hatred but also not to even harbor hatred in our hearts. ————— So how conflicting it is to read a Scripture that reveals that there are things that our Heavenly Father hates. Of course, a closer inspection divulges that his contempt is aimed squarely at abhorrent sinful behavior. In fact, the things He “hates” not only damage the relationship a person has with Him but there is a level of collateral damage to others affected by those sins. ————— As believers called to reflect Godly character, it presents a clear picture of how we are to view such behavior and how we should act accordingly in the way we live.

Proverbs 5:21-23, For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his paths. The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin. He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray. ---------- The teachings in Proverbs 5 highlight the sanctity of marriage, emphasizing that it should be held in honor and that faithfulness is essential. The writer warns against sexual immorality, stressing that God judges such actions, while encouraging the pursuit of wisdom to maintain discretion in relationships. The core message is that God observes our lives not to restrict us but to guide us toward the best outcomes for our well-being and happiness. ————— Practical advice for nurturing a strong marriage includes focusing solely on your spouse, finding joy in them, and consistently expressing love and appreciation. It's important to prioritize open communication, avoid negative comparisons, and practice forgiveness. ---------- Additionally, caring for each other's physical and emotional health, being vigilant against outside influences, and maintaining a spirit of sacrifice and service will strengthen the marital bond. Ultimately, these principles serve as a reminder that, with commitment and effort, it's never too late to cultivate a fulfilling and lasting relationship
