The Book Leads – Episode 39: Maureen Ross Gemme & Emerge: 7 Steps to Transformation (No Matter What Life Throws At You!) For this episode, Maureen shares with me the trauma that impacted her life, beginning with addiction, leading to the hard work of recovery addiction, and eventually using those lessons to help others. The method in which she helps others is fascinating – using both traditional tenets of addiction recovery and the lessons she herself learned and took away from that same healing journey. We may not all be trying to recover from the traditional ideas of addiction, but we all have some experience with trauma that's hindering our path forward. But there are steps we can take to work through those obstacles and challenges to reach our best version. That's the basis of Maureen's work. Some highlights from this episode: Once you realize you have choices, you can live by design instead of default. The majority of us don't have tools like people in recovery. What she means when she's become the person she spoke to way back then. To deal with all the darkness in the world, we need more light work in the world. Gerald Harris, Father, Hoffman Board Chair emeritus, and Energy Economist is our guest today. Gerald shares his journey from growing up in rural south Georgia to his current life with his sons in Northern California. He shares his Hoffman Journey of transformation. Listen all the way to the end for Gerald's powerful reflections on forgiveness and transformation. Born and raised in Hapeville, Georgia until he was six years old, Gerald talks about what it was like to grow up in a village of extended family. His family was poor but he didn't know it. At the age of six, he and his mother moved to Chicago for work. Suddenly, it was just Gerald and his mother. Gerald shares how he suffered abuse from his single mother. The Process helped him take his mother down off of the pedestal he'd learned to put her on as a child so he could squarely look at what had really happened in his childhood. He was able to see the patterns he adopted from her and release them through the Process. By completing the Hoffman Process, Gerald was able to heal the pain of his childhood so that this past pain would not affect his sons. Generational healing releases generational patterns and the painful emotions they cause. When patterns are released, our own lives and our children's lives can hold more Light and Love. Gerald's world at the Process made it possible for his sons' lives to be freer of generational patterning. One of the other places the Process supported Gerald through transformation was in his sense of spirituality. As a child, he grew up Christian. Prior to doing the Process, Gerald was reading Buddhist thought and other kinds of thought as well. After the Process, Gerald came to understand that spirituality is not about any particular religion. He found it is about love, forgiveness, kindness, compassion, and justice. The Process supported Gerald in discovering a heart-centered way of communicating that he uses in all his relationships, both personal and professional. More about Gerald Harris: Gerald Harris is president of the Quantum Planning Group (QPG), which he founded in 2009. His company specializes in assisting businesses and non-profit organizations in strategic and business planning using the tools of scenario analysis. He works extensively with companies in the energy sector, particularly gas and electricity. Gerald received his BA in economics from Morehouse College, where he graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and an MBA in finance and business economics from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. Gerald's first book, The Art of Quantum Planning, Seven Ideas from Quantum Physics for Breakthroughs in Creativity, Innovation, and Leadership, was published by Berrett Koehler Publishing in August 2009. Gerald joined the Board of the Hoffman Institute in 2007, after completing the Process in December 2002. From mid-year 2012 until April of 2022 Gerald served as Board Chair, working cooperatively with the entire leadership team. Gerald currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth Club of California. There, he leads the Technology and Society member-led forum where he produces programs for the Club. He is the father of two adult sons. More is available at his website: www.artofquantumplanning.com. As mentioned in this episode: Download The Quadrinity Process paper Gerald mentions: A Path to Personal Freedom and Love. Projection: "The process of displacing one's feelings onto a different person, animal, or object." - Psychology Today The Great Migration: "The Great Migration was one of the largest movements of people in United States history. Approximately six million Black people moved from the American South to Northern, Midwestern, and Western states roughly from the 1910s until the 1970s. The driving force behind the mass movement was to escape racial violence, pursue economic and educational opportunities, and obtain freedom from the oppression of Jim Crow.
What do you dream about? What passions have you always wanted time for? What do you wish you'd done when you had the chance? The Founder of Sacred Ground Practice, a Trauma Therapy Practice, Monica Gray joins me and shares her journey of healing and what she's learned as a therapist that we all can do to heal. Monica believes there comes a time in life when we need to shed our old belief systems because they are no longer serving us. We have to begin the process of bringing these beliefs into the light of our conscience awareness and challenging them so that we can step into growth and expansion. A lot of our beliefs came from when we were young and we made agreement with them in our hearts and have never questioned them before. It is usually through emotional pain that we begin to get ready to let these maladaptive beliefs go. Find her at https://sacredgroundpractice.com/

Photo by Bradford Rogne Photography We begin season five with Scott "Scooter" Braun. You might know him as Scooter Braun, one of the most prolific entrepreneurs and innovators in entertainment, music, tech, and beyond. Yet, during the Hoffman Process, Scooter reclaimed himself as Scott, the young boy he once was and the person he has always been. Scooter shares that both sides of his familial line experienced great trauma and struggles. He was aware enough to know that his life as a child was good. Through the Process, he came to realize that he felt guilt for having struggles because his paled in comparison to those his parents and grandparents experienced. Through the Process, Scott was able to heal the pain of his past, understanding that we all face human trauma and challenges. Sharing about his upbringing, his loving parents, and what he learned through his Process, Scott cogently shines a light on the Path to Personal Freedom and Love. One beautiful thing Scott offers to us in this episode is the understanding that once we do the deep healing work of childhood, we can then step forward to discover who we really are, now, in the present day. From this present moment, we can continue to reclaim more and more of who we truly are. Scott recommends the Process to many of those he knows. When people remark about how much he has changed and want to know how this happened, he suggests they attend. He refers to the world we live in as a shadow world or a fog of life that the ancient Toltecs refer to as Mitote. Often referred to in yoga as Maya meaning Illusion The formation of beliefs is what he calls the Domestication of Humans. From a young age, we didn't have the opportunity to choose our own beliefsOnce we begin to question our thoughts and the origin of our beliefs, we are able to free ourselves from the fogWe begin to live as our Authentic selves and leave the Dream that was layered on by the world around We can develop a new belief system that gives us the freedom to measure up to who we want to be rather than that of the Mitote and Don Miguel Ruiz offers us Four Agreements as a path to Personal Freedom. Show Notes: This week it's our book club episode of Yaycando in which we discuss the powerful concepts and ideas of the best selling book by Don Miguel Ruiz called "The Four Agreements" based on the ancient Toltec beliefs from Southern Mexico over a thousand years ago. In his book Ruiz discusses how humans are domesticated as children by the society into which they are born with certain belief systems, laws and rules of conduct which are taught through a system of punishment and reward; "good girl/boy & good boy/bad girl". In time we come to internalise those belief systems and rules as our own which leads to a process of autodomestication; "We can now domesticate ourselves according to the same belief system we were given, and using the same system of punishment and reward. We punish ourselves when we don't follow the rules and we reward ourselves when we are the "good girl" or "good boy". Our belief system creates an inner Judge which judges everything we do and don't do, think and don't think, feel and don't feel. Everything lives under the tyranny of this inner Judge leading to guilt, shame and the need for punishment. There is another part of us which receives our judgments and this part is called the Victim which carries the blame, the guilt and the shame. Just being ourselves is our biggest fear, according to Ruiz. We have learned to live by other peoples demands and points of view because of our fear of not being accepted and of not being good enough for someone else. We form an image of what perfection is to try to be good enough and to be accepted by everybody. We especially try to please the ones who love us most. We create this image, but we don't fit this image. It is impossible to live up to; "Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves; it is why we don't accept ourselves the way we are, and why we don't accept others the way they are". In order to break free from this vicious cycle to choose our own belief system, become our authentic selves and create a life of possibility, joy and fulfillment, Ruiz proposes we adopt the following four agreements: 1) Be impeccable with your word Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. 2) Don't take anything personally Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a protection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinion & actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering. 3) Don't make assumptions Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. 4) Always do your best Your best is going to change from moment to moment, it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse, and regret. Very powerful suggestions which if practiced in a "do my best" spirit can no doubt lead to increased self love, acceptance, freedom, serenity and harmony in our lives. Highly recommended!

You don't have to move to a deserted island to live life on your own terms. By simply looking at your existing, everyday life and gaining awareness of when your ego is taking the wheel, you'll begin to invite in a much broader sense of personal freedom. Today I connect with Kelsey Greenwood, an integrative life coach who helps women create their own freedom by facing their deepest fears and learning to trust themselves. Her work involves harmonizing the mind and emotions, and working with clients to connect internally instead of looking outside themselves to live a more liberated life. Kelsey models a life lived from the heart — open, free and truthful. She walks us through her own dark night of the soul and the mind-body practices that shifted her trajectory. We also discuss strategies for letting go of ego in order to step into a higher version of yourself. Let Kelsey and I know what you connected with in this episode by tagging us on Instagram @kelseygreenwood and @whitneywoman. Want to know what is so crazy about Manifestation? Is it is actually EASIER rather than harder to get the life that you want. We often hear so much about the hustle and grind but it doesn't need to go down like that, and when you actually surrender to (God, Universe, Higher Power) instead of clutching on to things, it actually makes the process so much easier. On this episode we talk about all things manifestation, including how to heal and use that trapped energy to propel you towards your own personal freedom. Christina Deering, also known as The Soul Consultant, is a Manifestation and Personal Freedom Mentor who's coached thousands on how to manifest their dream life! Her signature method includes getting clear on what you want, making the manifestation process easy and healing all the stories and patterns that are in the way. These healing modalities include breathwork, Reiki, hypnosis, visualization, mediation, CBT and so much more. Because everything you want is on the other side of healing what's in the way. As a special gift for our listeners, she's giving you 22% off 1:1 coaching, group coaching and intensives, because the angel number 22 means your angels are helping you manifest your dreams! This offer is only valid as long as her energy feels aligned with it, because that's how she lives her life, by following her energy. And she encourages you to do the same, so if this feels expansive, shoot her a DM! Rebecca Wiener McGregor, CEO of Whole Life Happy, regularly gets goosebumps when she thinks about the work she does. She loves it that much. “There is no cell in me that doesn't believe in the power of the mind and hypnosis because our beautiful brains are designed to heal,” says this advocate for the power of letting go. As the author of "Loving Her: 10 Loving Standards to Call Forward the Wealthy Woman Inside You" explains on this episode of She Turned Entrepreneur, the combination of a natural entrepreneurial spirit and lucky exposure to hypnotism 18 years ago set Rebecca up perfectly to exercise her gifts. And when it comes to gifts, it's our duty to embrace them, celebrate them and claim them. Do that, says Rebecca, and watch the door slam shut on Impostor Syndrome. Through her coaching Rebecca's clients learn to shift into an abundant mindset that generates not only wealth but authentic delight. Getting there, of course, may require that we first uncover and send packing old memories and messages that do not serve. Using her hypnosis training, Rebecca helps clients release whatever traumas are keeping them stuck emotionally and physically. The best part of her work? Seeing the freedom clients experience in letting go. Enjoy learning about the road Rebecca took after finding hypnosis (“It was like an instant passion that set a flame in me to help people!”) and helpful tips for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to minimize stress while moving towards business (and personal) success. Want to hear more about what Rebecca has to say on a range of relatable topics? Click here to listen to her podcast, Fear is a MFer. She also offers a free download of her guidebook, "8 Money Mindset Shifts to Unlock Wealth+Abundance." Or visit this link to schedule a free discovery call. Click here to listen to, rate and review this or previous She Turned Entrepreneur episodes. Here are key takeaways from the conversation:· Feeling stuck or anxious? Ask a friend to take the lead in exploring something new.· Building a business is consuming and often stressful. But remember: You get to choose your standards, with whom and how you work. YOU are the boss!· All work and no recognition can dull your shine. Injecting fun into your work is a must!· If you're holding onto something heavy, remind yourself that levity lies beyond letting go.· Feeling stuck? Remind yourself to have faith and confidence in your gifts!· When we're fully in touch with our gifts, it deprives Impostor Syndrome of the oxygen it needs to thrive and bring us down. · Writing down and celebrating our successes every single day reinforces them!· You don't have to quit your day job right out of the gate. Consider viewing that paycheck as an Angel Investor, funding your new venture. Here's a quick look into the episode:· Rebecca has always felt like an entrepreneur, hungry to become a business owner.· Motivated to understand and be of help to others who faced traumas, as she had experienced in her family growing up, Rebecca studied psychology but felt it didn't penetrate deeply enough. · Being introduced to hypnotism was an eye-opener that presented a win-win opportunity to combine Rebecca's interest in psychological healing with entrepreneurism.· Finding the hypnotism training healed her own anxiety, Rebecca's desire to help others (and build her business) was ignited.· The two tracks around which Rebecca's business is structured:o One-on-one private work to release trauma, panic, rage and stuck feelings.o Business strategy and mindset coaching, especially around money issues – the focus of her membership-based course, Extraordinary Wealth.· It's extremely important to Rebecca to nurture a sisterhood of women who have released limitations on their ability to create wealth and a joyful life.· Because working in the transformation field can often be heavy, Rebecca makes a point of cultivating levity and celebrating the lightness that comes from letting go of grief, pain and self-limiting beliefs.· When it comes to sales and advancing their businesses, Rebecca's clients get most stuck in unconscious childhood patterns and negative messages such as:o We're unworthy.o We don't matter.o We're not here for our own pleasure.o We're not smart.o We're not good.· To move past blocks, it's important to ask:o How much success can I actually have?o How much success do I actually deserve?o Can someone like me, with a history like mine, actually grow up and be successful?o What if those around me will like me less if I'm successful?o Am I just chasing what other people have or desire?· Rebecca's coaching helps clients amplify love and move through fear by:o Constantly mirroring the importance of releasing judgment.o Letting go of personal blocks, which inevitably show up in business as well.o Finding ways to eradicate beliefs that move clients farther away from their vision.· Rebecca's hypnotherapeutic treatments are about:o Looking at old memories and reframing them.o Bringing acceptance into the frame.o Neutralizing memories to break the connection between them and emotional and physical responses.· The breakthroughs that Rebecca witnesses are constantly nourishing, exciting and rewarding. Watching clients release pain and take back their power, freedom and responsibility regularly gives her goosebumps.· Embrace your skill set and claim full confidence. It will vanquish Impostor Syndrome!· Celebrating wins is key to building confidence and a radiant sense of self.· Rebecca's advice for aspiring entrepreneurs:o Let your job, if you have one, be your Angel Investor. o You don't have to leave your job in order to pursue something else.o Forgoing steady income can trigger feelings of scarcity that can be very counterproductive to the bigger goal and journey.o One of the biggest stressors people launching businesses experience: Panic about cash flow. You don't have to set yourself up for that! · Recommended Reading:o "The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom," by Miguel Ruiz. Larry Knapp has one of the most incredible stories you'll ever hear. He was once one of the best race car drivers in the world, breaking records and developing new technologies to help cars go faster. All that took a turn one day and he found himself in federal prison at San Quinton, the prison made famous by Johnny Cash, where he performed live for inmates. This story is powerful, vulnerable, and one of hope, as healing is possible for us all, no matter how old you are along your journey.

The truth is that habits are more than just what we do. They're also what we think, how we respond to certain situations, how we solve the problems that we face and how we care, or don't care, for ourselves. In this episode, we talk all about the habits that we want to create or may want to get rid of, and all that is entailed in this process. To help explain what habits really are, today Robin is joined by her friend and fellow entrepreneur and business owner Sandra Chuma, a habits coach who helps women know their worth, create lives that they love and really live life to the fullest, which is what we want for you here at The Balanced Life and what we do with our community, app, and the content we create for you. There are so many great strategies, tips and mindset shifts in this conversation with Sandra, and it's definitely an episode that you may have to listen to a few times (with pen and paper in hand to take notes!) to really grasp all the wisdom that she shares. Show highlights: what you can look forward to in this episode! Sandra had a big “A HA” moment that really taught her the importance of habits in our life and led to her getting certified as a habits coach. Habits can come from repetition over a long period of time, and they can be also be formed and anchored instantly. Motivation and willpower is great for getting you started on a new habit, but it's not dependable to do this long-term. Consistently taking small steps is where we really make progress with our habits. When you feel successful, you're more likely to repeat the behavior. Creating your habits is as easy as the “ABC” formula that Sandra shares, but don't forget to always celebrate along the way. People give meaning to tracking their habits, but tracking itself is just feedback and shouldn't be used to feel bad about what you did or didn't do. A major lesson Sandra got from a mentor is that it's ok to be a work in progress and be a work of art at the same time. Robin LOVES this statement and it sums how we support you at The Balanced Life – embrace YOU! Our brains love predictability and will often self-sabotage us, but Sandra has an exercise she uses to help raise your awareness and overcome this. The “3 E's” where our beliefs come from, and 4 questions you can ask right now to get past the beliefs that aren't serving you. Robin also shares a limiting belief that held her back in the past, and how she learned that it just wasn't true. Meditation isn't for everyone. Don't feel bad if it isn't working for you, and there are lots of other effective tools to help you become more aware of your thoughts and habits. There are competing views on the dangers of monkeypox, and Dr. Robert Malone is calling out the Bill Gates-funded “Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance” for allegedly spreading misinformation on the virus. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) may soon be granted global powers over pandemic policy. We speak with Nick Corbishley, author of “Scanned: Why Vaccine Passports and Digital IDs Will Mean the End of Privacy and Personal Freedom,” on the WHO pandemic treaty, and what this means for the future of health policy, including lockdowns and vaccine mandates. And in other news, President Joe Biden and officials around him have been discussing the “transition” the United States is undergoing with fossil fuels, fertilizers, and even the economy. Yet what is the “transition?” Based on their statements, the nearing collapse is seen as a way to usher in a more “green” system. In this live Q&A with Crossroads host Joshua Philipp, we'll discuss these stories and others, and answer questions from the audience. ⭕️ Stay up-to-date with Josh with the Crossroads NEWSLETTER
