“You can't out-dark the Light of the World. Whatever dark spots are in your life, Jesus shatters them as the light”
The very act of praying makes this statement: I need you.
“It wasn't safe, cool or easy. But Timothy looked at Paul and saw a man who was changing the world"
“God doesn't care if you had a devastating comeback to that insult, if you look good in those jeans or if the people at the gym think you're cool”
Why do we exist? To bring more help. More hope. More home.
Jesus said, “If? There are no ‘ifs' among believers. Anything can happen.”
“You are brave to be here. It takes courage to hope.”
"Take those lessons from yesterday, engage in this moment and build a better tomorrow."
One of the most powerful steps is the one we take in faith to get back up.
“I know right now there are people thinking God couldn't love me. God could only love a Sunday School version of me, without the mistakes I've made. But I'd like to respectfully tell you today: you couldn't be more wrong.”
“Cultural, surface level, and ritualistic Christianity doesn't change hearts. The miracle of the person of Jesus does. He changes everything.”
I really feel like God told me to tell you here today “it's going to be okay.”
“As Jesus changes me, my words will match the changes that are happening on the inside.”
And I remember asking myself: “If we're not here to help her, then what on earth are we here for?”
Whether you're married or single, this promise is for you. God's plan for your life and your relationship is a TODAY plan. It's always an invitation. Put tomorrow behind you and make great decisions today, to build something beautiful for tomorrow.
Sitting beside you is an angry person. YOU are an angry person, trust me! Anger is a killer and a destroyer but God has a better plan for your anger.
“The plan would be for you to live in such a way that people would stop and say ‘there's got to be an artist behind this artistry'”
“God didn't take the rest because He needed it, He took it because he knew we would”
“Why do we as Christians love to put words in God’s mouth? The most powerful thing you do for someone might be an apology.”
“We all know we need something outside of ourselves to fix what’s broken”
You don’t have to choose faith over fun, or fun over faith! God is not a wrecker of fun. He’s a bringer of blessing.
“Mike. Have I been good to you? Do you trust me? Can I bring Revival?”
“We made a decision a long time ago that we didn’t want to just talk and sing about Jesus. We wanted to exemplify Him in everything we do... and Compassion is one of the primary ways we do that here.”
“There is no greater blessing than to be a blessing to those who follow”
“Jesus Christ is the answer to your deepest questions. The fulfillment of your deepest longings. He’s the one you’ve been waiting for your entire life!”
“All over the city, all over the world, people woke up today living a story, and every one of them matters. That’s why Easter matters. Jesus came to shine a light into your story. Jesus, the light of the world.”
“The last time I saw him, we took him to Dairy Queen. He hadn’t recognized anyone in a long time. Then all of a sudden, the fog lifted from his eyes, and he said...”
“She saved my life that day because she saved my hope. And without hope, there is no future.”
Sometimes it feels like a line separates the good people and the bad people. The worthless people and the worthwhile people. The people who matter and the people who don't.
The world is about to enter a time of revival. We are going back to BETTER than normal.
“Have you ever thought about the concept of “Home”? Because I think your soul craves it... so how do we get home?
Inside all of us at some level is a fear of being fragile, being alone and being empty. Join the conversation as we look at how these fears threaten to sideline our story, and how the truth of the gospel can offer us peace and courage.
How has shame affected the way you’re living your life? When we let shame direct our life... When we exit the arena and settle for small, we all lose. You need to step back into the arena and become the you-est version of you.
What if there’s meaning in the in-between, in the every days, in the little stuff? What if there’s beauty to be realised in the story of your life right now? And what if we wait for the big things, we we risk missing the best things?
“I know what it feels like to dig deep and find nothing inside yourself...that’s where God comes in. Love begins when the feelings of falling in love end. True love is taking off your mask and loving what is underneath; it’s the least romantic and most beautiful thing I can think of.”
There are lies at the core of who we are that are holding us back in our lives, and specifically in our marriages. Mike and Corinne are opening up this Sunday to look at the question: "what do I do if I hate myself?" and are sharing how insecurities impact our most important relationships .New here? We have a $5 Starbucks e-card with your name on it! Text "HELLO" to 604 670 3040 Southside Church exists as a generosity movement to bring help hope and a home to Chilliwack and beyond.
Maybe you’ve thought this, but it’s not something you’d easily admit. This week we’re digging a little deeper as a church into the question of boredom in our marriages. What would it take to make your marriage feel alive again? ‘Boredom isn’t an outside thing...it’s an inside thing.’
“Marriage is hard, for all of us. Mike and I are the same as you: we’re two sinful, selfish people, just trying to come together to be a team. So I just really want us to try and help each other.”
"Have you ever asked yourself what happened to the wonder? We're going to find it today."
How many of us have a small feeling that heaven will be boring, ethereal and lame? We may never admit it, but somewhere along the line, we’ve come to believe this. The truth is, heaven is a miraculous blend of the familiar and the new, and will be more real and exciting than anything we’ve ever seen. Join us this morning as we answer the question, “Where will I be in heaven?”.
“Heaven is not a bright cloudy dream with harps and old music, but rather the ‘realest’ and most vividly exciting place we will ever see. But what about us. Who do we become? Let’s talk about it this Sunday.”
“We spend our lives looking for the way to wonder. A perfect relationship, success, adventure, money, the list goes on. But what we miss is that wonder is an inside thing that changes every outside thing.”
“If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.” CS Lewis Inside of each one of us, there is a question that never really leaves...what happened to the wonder? When did life shift from looking ahead with hopeful expectation to worrying what tomorrow might hold? Join us as we reclaim our hope for the future with God’s help and take hold of the wonder He has for us everyday. “
"There's endless wonder waiting for us someday in heaven, but we don’t want to end there. We can be gripped with awe and wonder today. Join us as we restore the wonder we were built for and grow younger together at a soul level."
I remember that deep-down feeling of “welcome home”... of being found in His faithfulness. Once I was in, I was in. And Jesus keeps showing himself faithful.
“Are you kind to yourself? Do you know how beautiful you are to God? I love doing well, I love winning, but you know what? You are beautiful. No amount of winning or losing or striving or conquering can change that. You’re loved, so go out and achieve and succeed and create and innovate, or honestly, don’t. You are still beautiful and you are still loved.”
"The opposite of love is actually not hate, it's indifference. And when you drift, you drift incrementally from love to indifference. We can't allow our relationships to drift.”
